My Favorite Entry Since X/Y
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As of writing this review, I have 460 hours in Violet and have barely touched Scarlet--that's how busy just one of these games has had me! I love the open world style of the game and the fact that you can see shinies before going into battle. Shiny hunting is now well-balanced. It's challenging but very much attainable if you're willing to put in the time and effort for the Pokemon you want. While framerates could be better and there are some minor glitches, this is the most fun I've had with a Pokemon game since x/y.

A fun but undercooked set of games.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only does Scarlet and Violet offer a fun open world to explore, it also features a diverse set of Pokémon to capture and raise, including 100+ new Pokémon species exclusive to the Paldea region. Throughout the main story and its DLC, each major NPC are a delight to interact with. Some even being more relatable than others. Raid battles also return and is a decent improvement over Sword and Sheild's, but I found most of them to be pretty lackluster since I already caught the featured Pokémon from previous games, so I wasn't really interested in doing raid events at all until they introduced Walking Wake and Iron Leaves in 2023. While the games are fun to play, they are not without flaws as there were several performance issues post-launch, such as FPS slowing down at certain points.

2 steps forward and 1 step backwards.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fun. I had never had so much fun with a pokemon game. When it works, it works. The story is semi open world. You can go anywhere but things don't scale. I did everything except the gym challenge. You have 3 storylines that lead to one big finale. When it's bad, it's bad. Frame drops heavily, glitches everywhere. There are disappointed battles and animations. They took chances and that is great but they need to learn to stay consistent.

Launched shaky but turned out great
|Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Performance is lacking because of the switch itself but the gameplay is great! I stopped playing pokemon since gen 4 and this did a good job at making an open world version of the series i used to love. Tasks feel rewarding and the direction of the story is up to the player. Sweet game!

A Dynamic Duo of Adventure and Fun of Pokemon
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Double Pack for the Nintendo Switch is a delightful combination of nostalgia, innovation, and captivating gameplay. As a long-time Pokémon fan, I was excited to dive into this new installment in the beloved franchise, and I can confidently say that it delivers on multiple fronts. First and foremost, the graphics in Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet are a sight to behold. The transition to the Nintendo Switch has allowed for vibrant and visually stunning environments, bringing the Pokémon world to life in a way that was previously unimaginable. Whether I was exploring dense forests, bustling cities, or battling in grand arenas, the attention to detail and the overall aesthetics were simply breathtaking. One of the standout features of this double pack is the inclusion of two distinct games. Pokémon Scarlet takes players on a thrilling journey through a fiery region filled with unique Pokémon species, while Pokémon Violet explores a serene and ethereal realm with its own captivating charm. This diversity adds a refreshing twist to the gameplay, allowing players to experience two distinct narratives and encounter a wide range of Pokémon, ensuring hours of engaging gameplay. The gameplay mechanics in Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet are polished and well-refined. The battles are fast-paced, strategic, and highly enjoyable, offering a perfect balance between the series' classic turn-based combat and innovative new mechanics. The introduction of new battle strategies, such as the Ability Fusion system and the expanded move pools for Pokémon, adds depth and complexity to the battles, encouraging experimentation and team customization. Furthermore, the addition of the Pokémon Camp feature is a delightful way to bond with your Pokémon outside of battles. Interacting with them, playing mini-games, and discovering their unique personalities and preferences creates a stronger emotional connection between the player and their Pokémon companions. The storylines in both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are engaging, with compelling narratives that kept me invested throughout my adventure. While the overarching goal of becoming the Pokémon Champion remains, the games introduce fresh plot elements, intriguing characters, and unexpected twists that made the journey all the more exciting. However, despite the numerous positives, I did find that the games suffered from a lack of post-game content. After completing the main storylines and conquering the Pokémon League, the options for further exploration and challenges were somewhat limited. A more robust post-game experience would have added significant replay value to the double pack. In terms of multiplayer features, Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet offer a wide range of options. The ability to trade and battle with friends locally or online adds a social aspect that enhances the overall experience. The game also supports the Pokémon Home integration, allowing players to transfer their favorite Pokémon from previous games and expand their collection. In conclusion, Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Double Pack on the Nintendo Switch is an exceptional addition to the Pokémon franchise. With stunning visuals, engaging gameplay mechanics, and immersive storytelling, it captivates both newcomers and long-time fans alike. While the lack of post-game content is a minor setback, the double pack more than compensates with its charming world, diverse Pokémon selection, and the joy of embarking on not just one but two epic adventures.

Great game for poke lovers but incomplete
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 3 story lines are great with an almost open world feel and traditional pokemon gameplay with new and improved mini games and quest. It is now easier than ever to farm and trade with the online features. I love the terra raids which provide a challenge for end game. Only real issue is performance and bugs. The game at time feels under developed at times

Largest Pokemon game to date, recommended.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are fun games with a lot of content and like any Pokemon game a lot of post-game content for those willing to put in the time. While the game got beat up in reviews for bad visuals, the game still looks and plays well. It's easily Pokemon's biggest entry yet with a massive land to explore and a time of day system with changing weather. In some ways, the game is almost too ambitious when you just sit back and watch. While not full 1080p I was able to watch rain-soaked cliffs glisten in the sun as shadows rolled across the rocks while the sun slowly moved across the sky. Despite the lower resolution of distant objects, what was on display ran at higher frame rates than some modern games not running the same level of effects. The worst offense graphically was a scene in the classroom with kids legs swinging under desks at like 10fps, it looked horrible. But then after the recorded cutscene ended, the kids legs swang normally. So while I don't know if that scene was fixed after I played through it, it wasn't during gameplay and ended quickly. So pick up this game if you love Pokemon, there is a lot to love that easily makes up for any performance quirks the game still has.

||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game,a bit buggy but it was actually fun, unfortunately 4 stars because after u complete the main stories there’s nothing post game to do except catch Pokémon which is great but does get boring I have played all Pokémon games and this one has the least replay value unless you are shiny hunting

Flawed Fun
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gameplay and story are what you would expect from Pokemon, tons of fun and a healthy dose of nostalgia. Some of the new mechanics and open world mix things up nicely to give it a slightly fresh feel. The game looks and performs terribly though. While I haven’t run into any egregious bugs/glitches, I know others who have. Ultimately, it’s not a fast-paced action game that needs a high framerate, I just wish more care had been given to one of the largest franchises in the world. If graphical issues don’t bother you (or the person you’re buying for), then I highly recommend the games. Otherwise, maybe wait until the release some patches and hopefully fix some of the issues.

Wow, What a Mess!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is actually the first main series Pokemon that I haven’t been able to finish. I started with Yellow on GBC and I’ve played every generation since then, some of them multiple times. Scarlet and Violet are the biggest disappointments this franchise has ever seen. I preordered two double packs for a total of four copies so three of my family members could play along with me, as we always do, and all four of us (ages 16-74) have been very disappointed with this unfinished mess. I hope this company chooses quality over speed and quantity for the next inevitable generation. I will wait for reviews before purchasing Pokemon games in the future - this gen was an expensive mistake for my family.

Pokémon as you’d expect
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun game held back by bugs and graphical performance issues. I enjoy Pokemon for what it is, but the game just needed more time in development. It’s a great game to get on sale

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's pokemon...not much else to say. The story changes slightly, but it mostly stays the same. There are unique pokemon in each game, so the double pack helps you catch em all.

Great game despite its flaws
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has one of the best stories of any Pokemon mainline game. The glitches are the only thing that stops me from giving this 5 stars but it didn't stop me from enjoying the game.

Fun and New
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is fun and different from other Pokémon games! I like the option of being able to do other things besides having to focus on JUST the gyms. The character designs are interesting and the new Pokémon are cool. It has been updated now to work with Pokémon HOME, which is great for finishing the Pokédex or transferring some of your favorites over to it. My fiancé claimed Scarlet and I took Violet, and it’s nice to be able to run around and catch/trade Pokémon with each other. I have completely a full living dex in Violet but am currently working on a Shiny living dex… we’ll see how THAT goes lol.
