Sword and Shield double pack! The story isn't as dark as some of the previous games in the series, and sees you mainly trying to become gym champion with your friend. The wild area is very cool and you can take on raids with friends. Very cool game!

Do not! I repeat do not listen to the naysayers about this game..I've put on 3 hours of the game and I am enjoying it very much catching all Pokemon I don't have. Graphics look amazing for the switch. Dynamex mode is awesome love that new feature to the game. Such a great game I have no idea why the cry babies are complaining. I been playing Pokemon since 98 no game has ever let me down no matter how dumb down it gets Pokemon will always be Pokemon

The highly-anticipated release of Pokémon Sword and Shield has been mired in controversy, with many citing the lack of a "National Pokédex" as their reason for eschewing this latest entry into the core Pokémon franchise. Yet the game itself has proven entertaining, if a little more geared toward newer players. Set in the Galar region, a fictional area reminiscent of the United Kingdom, players select a partner Pokémon to raise and train as they complete a revamped (and version-specific) Gym Challenge, explore the expansive and dangerous Wild Area, and dive into the mysteries surrounding Dynamax.
While the learning curve is somewhat softened, the game still proves challenging in several areas, and is a worthy continuation as the series diverges from handheld exclusivity.

My daughter enjoys playing this game because she likes the story behind the characters & she found the game challenging. The graphics were great!! She also feels that she has advanced as a player with this new game.

While I don't want to say it's a BAD game it's not really the giant leap I was hoping the series would take moving to Console.
The giant Wild Area is a cool idea but I end up running through it since I do not know what level the Pokemon are and regularly run into Pokemon that are 20+ levels higher than me. It will be cool to run around and catch everything after I beat the game though.
EXP Share is on and it runs just like Pokemon Let's Go! so you're better off picking 3 Pokemon to use as your team and then just using the other 3 slots to evolve Pokemon for your Pokedex. The game has also been pretty darn easy so far but I don't expect the game to be hard. The fun will be in completing the Pokedex like Let's Go!.
It's still a 'solid' game if you are into Pokemon but it's not anything amazing. I also really don't like the design of the new Pokemon (just like Sun and Moon I just don't like the art style/look of any of the new Monsters)

Pokémon sword and shield are great new entries in the franchise. Honestly I haven’t been into them in sometime, since X and Y in 2013. The last two generations just didn’t hold my interest. But these are really great! They look good, the Pokémon are awesome, the variety to choose from is excellent even though not ALL the Pokémon are in it. I never felt like I was missing anything. There’s still plenty to do and see in this game.
Character customization is pretty fun. The online is really not great but it does what it needs to do. The post game isn’t beefy but it gives you enough to do afterwards. I’m about 52 hours In and not done yet! So if you’re a completionist, you’ll be playing for a while! I recommend it highly!

Great game and story line! I've been playing Pokemon since Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow and this game is just as entertaining. The story line is interesting and the graphics are amazing.

Honestly, I haven't picked up a mainline Pokemon game since Yellow. I had no interest in carrying around a 3DS and only playing on the road. So the fact that the Switch is both a portable and a home console really made me interested.
Overall, this is a fun Pokemon game. I've been playing Pokemon GO for a while, and I was ready to jump into a mainline game. It's fun. The wild area and raids really remind me of GO.
Bought the double pack for my boyfriend to play the other, and we enjoy both the fun local connection raids and joining raids/trading over the internet.
Mostly, I'm looking forward to the integration with Pokemon Home next year, so I can bring some of my GO Pokemon into Sword/Shield.

The game's a lot of fun (I've only played Shield so far), and though I understand the complaints of not all 800+ Pokemon being in the game, the gameplay and story have been great.

On the contrary to the beliefs of most of the reviews on this game, I love it. as a fellow pokemon enthusiast, playing through this game I've noticed alot of new features that had been tested on in other pokemon games, applied, and improved on into this game. The story is pretty generalized, but new and gym challenges are fun, along with the battles. I love the wild area, and all the variety that comes with it, the high level pokemon, that you have to wait for anyways, you get to challenge yourself and face early. Getting this game is completely worth it, this company really only makes good games. I dont understand all the hate.

Same style game with new pokemon and some new features. Mini games to make your pokemon like you are fun and different and the variations on old pokemon are fun to run into.

more in line with the Nintendo DS Pokemon games (story, battles, catching), Let's Go Pikachu (Eevee) were more in line with Pokemon Go. All variants are fun.

Even with all the controversy with the game, I still feel like its a step in the right direction. The characters aren't entirely one dimensional; the story, while still basic, is solid, and the wild area and raids are easily one of the greatest things they've done.

Pokemon sword and shield are really good versions of Pokemon games. The smaller Dex hurts, but the story and progression are a step in the right direction. The wild area also almost makes these games worth it; we finally get a taste of an open world Pokemon game.

I’ve been playing Pokémon since red and blue. I am a long time fan and this game is wonderful. The diversity of Pokémon you get to chose from right in the beginning of the game is amazing. You can have your dream team from the start. The gym battles start off really easy and they get harder and harder. This game was nostalgic and actually challenging at times. The new Pokémon are okay but with the selection of old favorites the new Pokémon get overlooked. Also the after-story content is pretty basic. But overall this is one of my favorite Pokémon games to date

I do really much love the game. The wild area is big and has their high and low leveled pokemon. The absence of a national dex is fine by me because of everything the game has included. My only issue is sometime the lag is a lot when you go in the Wild Area.

Pokémon will never go out of style. These games are a great continuation of the stories. There are some new ones, and enhanced old ones.
