Customers often highlight the solid gameplay, beautiful graphics, and engaging story as major strengths of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Double Pack. Many also praise the Wild Area and the introduction of new Pokémon. However, some players find the game too easy and express concerns about the amount of content. Positive feedback also focuses on the open world, ease of use, and the overall fun factor.

I have every mainline pokemon game since Red version, this pretty close to my favorite in the series now. I best this is that you can see the pokemon hidden in the grass, instead of random encounters you know whats in there and they also chase you. Everything else is the same with your typical pokemon game just updated/upgraded besides the gigantamax aka giant pokemon which great too. The game is greag my only complaint is that team yell is wack and the soundtrack dry, they dropped the ball on those two.

Another great Pokemon game. The difficulty has been reduced to that of a 6 year old. If you like Pokémon, it’s a aesthetically better game than DS versions of Sun and Moon but falls short in truly expanding the game to a console level.

Great for nostalgia. Somewhat easier than other generations and a lot more story. It’s pretty fun and looks great on a 4K tv.

Been playing since the gen 3 games and have played almost everything in the series besides the spin-offs. May be a bit biased in some areas like gameplay, story, etc relative to other core Pokemon games.
Things I liked:
- Character designs. Look man, Sonia and Nessa are just super cute.
- The new wild area (in theory). I like this more free-roam sort of gameplay. Feels more immersive. Not to say I don't like the more top-down view in past games. I like both and am ok with future core games going with either direction.
- Character interaction. Characters seem more personable and vibrant through the dialogue and facial expressions.
- Gigantamax. I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Sorta fresh but also doesn't seem as broken as it did with Z-moves *cough* Clangorous Soulblaze *cough*
- Things I didn't like:
- Story. It's pretty bare bones. The legendary Pokemon seem shoehorned into the story with little sense or sense of integration. Maybe it's not fair to say the story is shallow considering the target demographic, but Pokemon Black and White exist so.. I dunno. Give us something dark :)
- Graphics. Maybe it's the switch limitation but I'm leaning more towards Gamefreak just underdelivering. Maybe it's the time crunching from those above. Many variables but ultimately yielding underwhelming results.
- Legendary mascot Pokemon designs. If I was given no context or had no prior knowledge, I would've assumed they were final evolutions of Pokemon you'd meet on the first route. The design doesn't really scream "mystical" or "legendary." Definitely not box cover looking.
- Map design/Town progression. Very linear feeling like in Black and White. Each town and city seem somewhat vacant and small.
- Low replay-ability. I like to replay Pokemon games because I'm a weirdo but this gen doesn't really make me want to do that.
Things as I expected:
- Gameplay. More or less the usual turn-based combat. Not a good or bad thing. It's what makes core Pokemon games, Pokemon IMO.
Maybe it's just me having less time to play games nowadays but I think this generation is the least I've spent time playing in.

The gameplay, story, and graphics are well done for a switch. It's a great game that pays homage to the Pokemons on the handheld systems while inserting new gameplay mechanics, keeping the series alive and well.

I preordered this and got it on release day so I was pumped for this! The game hasn’t disappointed yet and I truly enjoy it months later. I ended up choosing different starters on each version of the game just to have new experiences. It’s been a lot of fun to feel the joycons shake during battles. Honestly sometimes I just like to set up camp, play with my party’s Pokémon, and feed them new recipes.
Definitely recommend for new Pokemon players.

I have been a fan of Pokémon since Red and Blue and the games are always great, it took me about 50 hours to finish the main story, that's about the average playtime for most Pokémon games. Don't believe any of the negative reviews that people formed about this game before it was even available. Those people are just jerks who try to bring down the ever powerful Pokémon franchise. If you're a fan of Pokémon you know that you'll love this game.

For all the controversy before release, it turns out that Sword and Shield are perfectly competent games with loads of fun to be had. The graphics aren't anything that will blow you away, but they're more than adequate. The new monster designs are some of the best of all the recent generations, and the addition of the wild area was much needed. Outside of that the game is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a Pokemon game.
