Gameplay is great for this game. I enjoy watching the kids play. The story is well put together. Younger children will need help with reading dialogs. Certainly a game for every switch collection.

    It's nostalgic, but not perfect.

After 12 hours of gameplay and only catching pokemon and not going into a Gym yet, it's good. I haven't played a pokemon game in two decades. This game succesfully gave me a great nostaligic feeling - but the first hour is the cringiest thing I've played in quite sometime. I didn't expect there to be a story, other than being the best there ever was and simply catching them all. And there isn't a story... but there are super annoying characters in the game that just aren't needed... It's pokemon. You catch, you collect, you battle, you take over gyms, you win. If you're wanting this thinking "I'm not that into pokemon, but maybe the story is good", don't get it. If you're wanting to just play some pokemon and not a rediculous die hard, this game is 8.5/10 (cause the characters... my goodness make it stop).

If you're an avid gamer that puts in 1-3 hours of gaming per night, you can finish this game fairly quick, especially if you've played the previous versions. And, when I say "finish this game", I mean beating the Champions cup -- different from the Elite Four if you've played the original Blue, Red, and Yellow versions. There's some endgame content that you can play to keep you interested, but after that, there's not much. Of course, if you're a gamer who likes to grind for the strongest pokemon, then there's endless content for you here. Some things that I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't obtain the older generations of pokemon. In this game, you're limited to what they have in this generation. You can't back trade for th older generations. Additionally, while the graphics were great for the Switch system, the animations were just OKAY. Nothing really stood out and most animations were predictable. Overall, this game is still something that I can recommend to a friend. There's still a social aspect to connect with your friends and family who also have Sword and/or Shield and still obtain those version-specific pokemon. Although, I think Nintendo and GameFreak could have pushed this series further with the Switch system.

Ignore the internet negativity about the Pokedex...this game is amazing. Tons of Pokemon to catch, great gym battles, huge open world area where Pokemon spawn everywhere. AND a new battle gimmick that is actually fun!

Pokemon Sword is simply a Pokemon game with a new paint job and some interesting battle gimmicks. While I will not go too deep into details to avoid spoilers, it is the usual formula as far as story and character development (if any). The visuals, while not as huge a leap as I hoped, are upscaled from previous versions, and the art and character designs look vibrant and clean. There is plenty to do in the game, even with the gratuitous but repetitive gameplay. I found revisiting areas as the season changes -fun to do -not just to complete your Pokedex. Overall, it is still a Pokemon game: same charm, same story, same mechanics (with minor improvements and gimmicks), same art/character design, and some game improvements that, in my opinion, make this a worthy entry. I'd recommend giving it a go, especially if you are already a Pokemon fan.

I just finished the main story. It took me 34 hours including plenty of time going through the wild area. It's certainly not a Zelda BOTW open world but it is pretty good and entertaining. I haven't played a new Pokemon game fully since Leaf Green / Fire Red. I had played every game until then. Coming back to the series I think it is a very good step forward. Many of the annoying things were improved like the fast travel or being able to customize the character more. I think the new features like the Wild Area are great and hopefully we will move to a more open world experience in future games. The Dynamaxing is interesting and fun but it does feel a bit gimmicky. The story was good by Pokemon standards. I totally recommend this game.

In my opinion Poke’mon has been on a slow downward spiral since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I am pleased to say that although the story is still derpy and dull, the overall gameplay is solid, the new Poke’mon are fun and (though rough in a few spots) is very bright and colorful. Definitely an enjoyable experience.

Finally can play pokemon on the big screen. The wild area is fun to roam around and you get to see others there too. It makes the game feel more lively. I wish we could interact with each other more though.

Fantastic. This is probably the most fun I’ve had playing a pokemon game. I love the characters, story, plot, and of course the pokemon. Totally worth a play through. 10/10 I love it

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this game...but I didn't let it keep me from enjoying it! Great new Pokes and the Wild Area keep you coming back plus its easier than ever to train them.

My 6 year old son loves Pokemon and owns Shield already. He loved this one too. Different pokemon than Sheild in the game. I wasn't convinced until I saw him play the game.

As someone who has played many pokemon games this one has the makings of one, it does hold your hand more then it should, granted it is meant for children but game freak should know that alot of their players are adults now, so i wish they coudlve had an option to skip the doulage faster cause there are moments where it ask you to go somewhere and part of teh joy is finding the placve after searching but the map bassicly tells you exactly where to go and theres alwasy someone waiting for you, but the asepct of cachting pokemon and having battles is still there, althouth id opt for mega evolves over dynamax

The only reason this isn’t a perfect is because of all the Dexit controversy...but if you put that aside the game is amazing. So much to do, it looks great, and the game made a lot of tedious things convenient. I hope there’s updates along the way but if you take it for what it is, it might be the best Pokémon game so far.
