My partner was instantly addicted and fell in love with this game. Great gift for anyone who’s either entering the Pokémon franchise or a veteran returning for a new adventure.

Having not played a mainline Pokemon game since I was a kid, way back in the early 00's, I fell into the hype of this game coming out. I'm a Switch owner and it almost felt mandatory to pick this game up, and I'm glad I did. While it doesn't hold a lot of replay value for me, the new versions of old fan favorites, the introduction of "Gigamax" (?) battles and a new world to explore, kept me entertained for a good 30 ish hours. The story was very, very cliche, but as with the games when I was growing up, building a party to handle every situation, and seeing the evolutions of new pokemon is the reason I would recommend this

This is a really fun game. My son has been bugging me to play Pokemon with him for a while. Now that I have my own copy we can trade and go on Dynamax adventures together! The game is simple enough that younger (6+ Years) kids can pick it up, but the various types and challenges catching certain pokemon make it interesting enough for adults to play too. His Expansion Passes are accessible on my account, so we can both play the Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor.

I bought this online for my niece. I wasn't expecting to get such a deal...normally $59.99 and was on sale for $40. My niece is getting a Nintendo Switch for Xmas. So this is wonderful that as soon as she opens her Santa stuff, she will have a game to play. They shipped to South Carolina from Baltimore and got there is just a few days.. luckily, it was before this backlog of UPS, Fed Ex and USPS! Great price, HAD IT IN STOCK, and got it delivered free.

If you are a veteran to the franchise, you may know of the controversies surrounding the game. The total amount of the pokemons that exist have been cut out by nearly half, with no current way (as of this review) to obtain them from older titles. However, if you are able to look past that, or if you/the person playing this simply does not care, this game is amazing. Pokemon on a home console (while still portable) looks better than it has before, and it is still the complete pokemon experience.

Overall great game good story and fun to play. Plus it's a good gift for anyone into playing pokemon.

Game is super dope. Lots of playability, fun easy to pick up. Best buy. Please update your system or something. When I got the notification that my purchase had been made ....confused the heck out of me. And upon calling customer service they couldn't give me a straight answer as to what the charge was. I was told " it was probably a pre-order or something". It should be much more straight forward notification that a pre-order has been charged. Yo y'all had me freaking out so bad. G.G.

Classic pokemon content with an updated sleek 3d look. Intuitive controls, really nice open world parts.

Great game will reccomend for anyone who is a fan of pokemon game series great graphics and easy to understand!

This is a true open world experience. The Wild Area is the best! So many Pokémon spawn, which really gives the gamer an opportunity to see familiar and new Pokémon. Being able to avoid Pokémon is also a huge bonus! The battles are really fun and action packed. The towns are full of neat shops and the items and clothing for purchase are expansive. Really happy with this game! Even after beating it, I want to keep playing to catch all the Pokémon because it feels attainable.

I purchased this Pokemon Nintendo Switch game as a gift for my 14 year old grandson. He is an avid gamer and is very skilled when it comes to playing games. This Pokemon Sword Edition being no exception. I go to Best Buy first when shopping for electronics as I know from years of experience they not only carry the item, but offer it at a reasonable price. The game was a huge hit and has been played relentlessly. Thank you Best Buy.

Fun game, albeit a bit on the easy side. If you like Pokemon, get it and the DLCs.

You can never go wrong with a Pokemon game. Both old and new to the game, it is always fun and brings a sense of nostalgia whenever you play, especially when you have a friend to trade with and so forth. Aside from the graphic enhancement, new pokemon, and lag from time to time if you paly online, there isn't exactly anything new from say any other Pokemon game before it, but that is just how the games work honestly, and I am okay with that.

This game makes some leaps for the franchise that we as fans expected. For me, the most striking is the outstanding visual appearance of the overall game. Pokemon has never looked so good. However, the brilliance of the world that Nintendo has created leaves the player who has played any open world game wanting two key features -- open world, and complete camera control all the time. Just in the first town, I found myself wanting to control the player movement and explore far more than I could. As far as the core elements of the Pokemon game itself, they work for me, just about the same as they always have. Hopefully with the next game (DPP remakes?) we can get the complete camera experience. I'm not holding my breath for open world.

Great game! Pretty easy and laid back. I love the wild area and dungeon raids. Definitely recommend.

If you haven’t played Pokémon for a couple years or so, this is going to be a great game to get back into it imo. The updated visuals can be stunning for the most part, despite the lackluster animations for a lot of Pokémon and moves. There are a lot of little ease of use changes in Sword and shield that make some of the grinding in other main series games a lot less tedious! And building a competitive team seems to be way easier as well.
