This game is exactly like the older versions (red, blue, yellow, etc.) but with better graphics/gameplay! I opened it and have not stopped playing since I got it! You level up your Pokemon through BATTLES with wild Pokemon, trainers, or gym leaders. Gotta catch them all!

I really enjoyed playing this game. It is like most Pokemon games where you battle gym leaders and there's a side story. I thought the graphics were pretty good, nothing spectacular, but I liked it. The gameplay is great. It's like a classic Pokemon game.

I was nervous about getting this game because I haven't played a pokemon game in a decade! I was an OG fan, and was nervous about this new iteration. But it's a great game (super addicting), and I think the changes they've made have been great. The story isn't amazing but the gameplay is still fun and rewarding.

Pokemon SWSH takes the basic Pokémon formula and somehow dumbs it down even greater. Animations and dialogue are as stale as ever, and truly feels like a an HD 3ds game. Considering other RPG’s like Xenoblade exist on the Nintendo Switch at the same price as SWSH its astounding to me why anyone would chose Pokémon over it. If you’re looking for some mindless turn based content, pokemon SWSH is an excellent time waster.

Good graphics, feels and plays like the original pokemon with some fun twists. They introduced a new game mechanic to giant-ize your pokemon some have new looks in their giant form. Sword and shield have an open and immersive world to explore with pokemon that roam the wild lands you walk on. A must buy when picking up the Nintendo Switch!

I haven't played a Pokemon game since the Game Boy Advance days. This game does a great job of keeping just enough of the original feel while also bringing so much newness to the franchise. The game has enough new nuances to feel complex with new depths but not overwhelmingly so for someone who's been away from the game for a while.

As I grew up with Pokémon as a kid, the nostalgia continues here! I love the graphics and everything else. The gym battles actually feel like battles now. The music and the sounds of the crowds during the gym battles bring everything together in this game! Plenty of content and room to grow!

This game isn’t anything revolutionary, but it does continue the slowly evolving pokemon series quite well. The new wild area is great!

    Underrated Pokemon Game

Game Freak cut corners to deliver a stable and more timely Pokemon, but those loses are largely forgivable. No National Dex? There's still 400 Pokemons with many new ones to catch. Some of the animation feels cheap, but let's be real. After you watch one travel animation, you're skipping it after the first few times. The Wild Area and Dynamax Raid battles are a game changer and very addictive addition to the Pokemon gameplay. As a life-long Pokemon player, my favorite may still be Sun/Moon, but this edition is terrific.

Must have for long time Pokémon fans. The new wild area mechanic and overworld encounters adds a sense of newness to how we interact and discover new Pokémon. There are lengthy and frequent cutscenes that cannot be skipped and slows down the pace of the game substantially, especially in the beginning. Post campaign gameplay feels more similar to what we have come to know and expect from this franchise. Overall, this was a good game, but there are certainly improvements to be made for future Switch iterations of Pokémon.

Which Pokémon game someone considers the "best" is largely tied to each player's nostalgia and not an objective assessment of the individual aspects of the game in front of them. That being said, Dexit does not bother me because I don't personally care or intend to use all ~1K Pokémon, and I appreciate the breeding mechanics being made easier. I do find Max Raid Battles to be tedious to complete, and the encounter rate for anything WORTH doing a Max Raid Battle for to be frustratingly low. I.e. Sirfetched w/ Scrappy.

I feel like this game is very streamlined for completing by using that wild area and a plethora of online functions. The raid battles and multiplayer competitive play are as good as they have ever been in this installment. If you plan to battle other people, I'd get it. If you only want it for the story and nothing more, it might be a bit formulaic to you. It gives a different spin on battles that might be too unconventional for some classic pokemon fans. For me, it was a welcome change

I absolutely love this game. Hands down, it’s just perfect. I spend a lot of time grinding and constructing competitive teams. I’ve played non-stop and lose hours on end. Even when I buy new releases, I find my way back to this game soon enough.

Pokemon Sword is the sister game of Pokemon Shield, taking you on a journey through the new Galar Region. Updated graphics from 'Let's Go Pikachu' and 'Let's Go Evee' make this game shine in comparison. New Gigantamax Pokemon change up the standard battle structure, making catching classic species and new species of pokemon very fun.

While I did take a step back before buying this game. I remembered not being sold on the trailers. But I figured I give it. Try and it surprised me. Its actually fun. The open world mechanism of the wild lands is fun and engaging. The gym challenges are a nice twist. And the over all presentation, while not next gen, is satisfying.

This game has everything. I haven't played a new Pokemon game since Ruby came out. Once you start, you can't stop. It's that addicting. The graphics are sharp. The gameplay is fresh. And while some things are still the same as they were a decade ago, the series has been overhauled enough to reignite the franchise for years to come.
