Had to admit, I was not expecting much from this game. Call me a skeptic, I guess. My 14 year old son popped this bad boy in and kept raving about how much fun it is to play. Still didn’t believe it! Tried it out for myself and I must say that I truly enjoyed playing. A must have for any Pokemoner!

One of my favorite entries in the series, I loved this game, to the point where I went out of my way to catch all 400 Pokemon and had a blast doing it, the region is cool, the new Pokemon designs are some of the best and with the DLC that is sold separately you get a ton of content for your buck.

It's pretty fun and addicting. There are mechanisms that lure you to play daily, like Café and Lotto. Also you can sync with your Pokémon Home game/app to get some gifts or get certain ones from Pokémon Go. I also purchased the DLC a few days after I started playing, just so I can catch'em all!

I feel that this game took a little baby step into the true console Pokémon game so many of us have always hoped for. The wild area gives us a glimpse of what Pokémon should be with full camera control and Pokémon visible on the screen. There was a lot this game did right but it doesn’t push through to the next level of greatness that something like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did. Not every game needs total reinvention and grand ambition, but a bit more of it would surely do for Gen 9.

Pokemon fanatic here, and when there are times that a new Pokemon world comes out, i get excited. Though the basic game mechanics stay the same, the new adventure and Pokemon are great experiences! Good writing, good storyline, and a really good soundtrack too! Overall great game! I wish I didn't finish it as fast as I did!

My 9 yr old son has been impatiently waiting for this game since Christmas and now that he has it....the joy on his face is just priceless. He got right into the action , had been on YouTube prior to receiving the game to learn little trick here and there, and ofcourse, my so called Ash, is a leading pokemon trainer.

The 8th generation of Pokemon is finally on the consoles and it shows off what direction the series can move in future iterations. The Wild Area allows players to take the camera and spin it in whichever angle desired. The story is sub-par for a Pokemon game, but the new creatures and characters add to the new experience.

I purchased this game for my son. He was asking me to get this from day one it has been released. Once he got it he started to play and didn't leave his Nintendo Switch for a few hours. Even though he has other games he loved to play this game. If you or your kid loves Pokemon then this game is the right choice.

Solid Pokémon game as usual that unfortunately fails to hit the mark for me. It is way too easy and the story is very forgettable. Many missing Pokémon and the quality is not the best. Some moves have very basic animations to the point that it feels insulting. The DLC expansions attempt to fix some of the issues but it still failed to give me a reason to keep playing it.

Everything you love about Pokemon is in this game (Minus some Pokemon). But don't let that mislead you. This game has been streamlined to make catching, breeding, and preparing for competitive play a breeze and inclusive to all players. This is step in the right direction for the franchise and some much needed features.

I have not played a Pokémon game since Pokémon Yellow, which was way back in the day. I could not be any happier with the development of how far Pokémon has gone and achieved. The story, the visual effects, the battles, trading options. It’s all above par. If you haven’t played it, go and get it! Gotta Catch’em All!

I've been a fan of Pokemon for so long, and I enjoyed playing Pokemon Sword. Though, I did finish the story a little too quickly. I also bought the expansion pass, and it's been fun. I'm still attempting to catch all of the Pokemon, so I'll probably keep playing until I do!

Despite all the controversy and what not surrounding the game, I loved it. It's been forever since a Pokemon game made me feel like I was experiencing a new world. The Wild Area is amazing and being able to see the overworld models pop up in the tall grass was beautiful. Honestly I can't wait to see what they do next!!!!

I'm a 90s kid that loved Pokemon on Gameboy Pokemon Sword is great. Good things: Beautiful graphics. Characters are full, not stylized blobs. Looks and feels magical. Great new pokemons to explore. Good game to soak yourself into and remember the good old days.

Great JRPG for those who don’t like to grind

Pokémon sword is a great JRPG that strips the game down to the core elements of the genre and series, catching and battling Pokémon. In this regard, I enjoyed the back to basics and streamlined approach. It only took me 21 hours to complete, which may seem short for this type of game, but the lack of a need to grind for hours on end was refreshing to me. Long time fans may be disappointed by the lack of Pokémon and traditional dungeons, but honestly I didn’t miss them as much as I thought. 8/10.

Loved the story line, but I wish their were actual villains like some of the older games, it would have given it some edge. Other than that enjoyed the graphics and the overall gameplay. But it has nothing to draw me back to it after beating the main storyline

Love love love this new Pokemon game. I've been playing Pokemon since the 90s when I got my first Gameboy color and they just keep getting better. The Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee were a step back but GameFreak fixed that with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Definitely a must have for Pokemon fans!

My daughter has been asking for this game for one of her Christmas gift so we bought it for her. She has done her research on the sword and shield and this is the game she wanted. I know she will enjoy getting it on Christmas Day and playing it. She loves anything Pokémon so I hope this game is enjoyable for her.

Very streamlined, the new features make playing a pokemon game easier than ever to get into as more than ever before things are pretty easy to understand. The game is fast to get you pokemon and on your way and looks pretty nice. Sadly the story is lackluster and the characters really dont have much... character. Cookie cutter narrative at best. But the wild areas make up for all that and then some. Not the best in the series but it is still a great game and a must have for pokemaniacs.
