    Great for working out!

I started using this the day I got it in the mail. It is extremely easy to set up and use right after taking out of the packaging. I do high intensity cardio (lots of jumping, running, kicking, etc I burn about 700-800 calories in a 1 hour class and 30 minutes after.. yes you are still burning even after the workout!) and have had no problem with the band slipping down. I don't even feel the band if it is on correctly. It should fit snug but not hurt. I love seeing my heart rate and that calorie count go up during a work out. It definitely motivates you to keep going and work harder. Great for people just beginning their exercising or even someone who has been exercising for awhile.

Can't say enough good things about this watch

I've had this watch for over six months now and it is hands down one of the best purchases I've ever made. I can't believe I ever worked out without one. It functions perfectly, it's easy to use, and I find it to be extremely accurate. Knowing exactly when and how much to increase or decrease the intensity of your workout gives you so much more control over your training. You also gain a much better understanding of the efficacy of your workouts. For example, I've learned which exercises burn the most calories for me (heavy squats get my heart rate up higher than running on a treadmill does). One of my favorite features is the ability to review your stored training data directly from the watch. The workout summaries and totals are so motivating. If you have been thinking about getting one of these, do it. It is well worth the knowledge and motivation it provides.

I think if I had known that I needed to wear a chest strap in order to use this, I might have passed on it, but to be honest I'm glad I didn't know, because once I tried it, I realised just how extremely useful this item is. To be able to keep track of my heart rate means I stay in the zone, and knowing exactly how many calories I've burned helps meet my daily goals so much easier. And all tracked in real time! I love this, and now I don't work out without it!

I love this hrm. It's super easy to use and a great value for the price. You can watch calories burned in real time which I think is very motivating. Other similar products are far more expensive and don't do anything more. Also this said men's. I think that's due to color. I'm a size 2 woman and it fit me fine.

I was looking for a good watch to track my heart rate and calories burned during my workouts. I did a lot of research and came across this watch. It does exactly what I wanted. And you can go back to previous workouts to see the difference. The strap is comfortable and most of the time I don't even feel it on.

    Just what I needed!

I got this at a great price and it was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't concerned with this device syncing with an app...I just wanted it so I could tell if I was over/under doing things. My fitness/weight loss journey started 7 months ago, and as I progressed from walking to running, I wanted to know when my heart rate wasn't where it needed to be for maximum calorie burn/effectiveness, but I also wanted to tell when I was over doing it. Starting to jog, and being overweight, I assumed that naturally I would be hot, super sweaty and out of breath, but I didn't realize until I got this that when I ran my heart rate was WAY over the target area and stayed at the "maximum" for my age/height/weight. No wonder I always thought I was about to die. ;) The band is comfortable enough, I haven't had any problems with it. The watch itself is fine. Easy to read and use. No complaints. Knowing when to speed up, and when to slow down...my workouts have changed, and the way I feel afterwards, since this purchase and I couldn't be more pleased. Would definitely recommend.

    Comfortable and Accurate

I was using a wrist monitor for years. It was accurate, matched at my doctors office. BUT, I ride a bicycle and in order to use it, I had to stop, put my other hand on the watch/monitor, and wait, and wait. This Polar monitor matches the accuracy of my other one, but has a constant display. All I have to do is glance at the monitor and my data is there. No stopping, no taking my eye off the road. At first, I wanted a larger face, but if it was larger, I think it would not be as comfortable and really, not much easier to read. The size is fine. I was concerned about the chest strap. The instructions on how to adjust it were a bit vague, but once I figured it out, it was simple. It does take a bit of getting used to, but after it is on for about 20 minutes, you don't even think about it. It is not uncomfortable. It's just there and you don't notice it. Also, it does not move about. It does stay in place. Overall, I am happier with it than I thought I would be.

    Good Motivational Tool

    |
    Posted .

I always wondered how many calories I actually burned while working out. Its easy when you're just doing cardio on a machine at the gym because it tells you; but I'd always guesstimate how many I burned lifting weights, or when I ran outside. That was my main reason why I wanted to buy a heart rate monitor. After doing some reasearch between the FT4 and FT7; I decided to go with the FT4. The main differences between the two are the training files the watch holds..99 for the FT7 vs 10 for the FT4. You can also plug the FT7 to your PC and use Polars online tracking system program; which you cannot do with the FT4. I wanted something basic, not too involved and it was on sale ($30 less) at the time. I workout 3-4 days a week so ten training files was enough for me and I knew I wouldnt take the time to use the online program. This is a great watch, it motivated me to work out harder to reach a certain calorie number or try to beat a number I previously reached. It also makes you work out smarter by keeping you in your fat burning zone...the watch beeps when you're outside the desired range. The best thing is I don't have to guess how many calories I burned doing my workouts when I'm not on a cardio machine

Nice and functional exercise monitor at a good pri

I bought this item as a birthday present for my girlfriend since she had been asking for something like this. There are many different types of these watches and it was a difficult decision to figure out which one to get. I chose this particular unit because I liked the look of it for one, and because it was capable of keeping track of the body's vitals during the workouts, which is what she was looking for. This model features functions to measure heart rate and calories burned during the workout, among other things. This was perfect for what she needed, and this one was one of the more affordable models compared to other types on the market. The one drawback for this item is that is doesn't measure your steps or distance traveled during the workout, the more expensive model can do all of that stuff. Also, this unit is self contained meaning you can measure and monitor all of the data by just using the watch itself, and there is no need to upload the data to a phone or computer, which is how some of the other monitors work. For this unit to work, you use the elastic band to strap the heart rate monitor around your midsection (which is small enough, isn't too uncomfortable and fits nicely under the shirt) and then you wear the polar watch which communicates with the heart rate monitor tallying all of your vital information. Overall we were very happy with this purchase because it was affordable yet also very effective at keeping track of the important info, and exactly what she was looking for. This model is very comparable to other types of more expensive watches, and does virtually the same thing, save for a few extra features like I mentioned above. Overall I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good tool to measure and monitor their exercise routine vitals and body information.

    Good heart rate monitor

    Posted .

Good heart rate monitor, very easy to use and comfortable. One of my favorite things is that you could go to pretty much any gym and they will usually have treadmill that will automatically link to your wearlink. The only problem that I have was the price. This is my 3rd POLAR watch. The first one I had was the RS200 and something happened to the screen and parts were faded. I got a replacement watch RS100 and decided to buy this one as my third. My only suggestion to any buyer would be to SAVE YOUR RECEIPT because you have a warrantee that you can send to their repair shops but of course you need to proof that the watch was purchased within the year for the warrantee to be honored

Great Information for those looking to lose weight

    |
    Posted .

I purchased this watch for my wife. I have recently begun a program to lose weight and have been successful so far(lost about 18 lbs in a month through diet and exercise.) Because of this, my wife was wanting to lose weight and believed in my program, so I needed to get her something that would motivate her (without me having to yell at her to talk down.) Thus came this watch, it is neat because it has a target zone that if you maintain, you are burning off strictly fat. It measures her heartrate and even better, the machines at our gym sync with them so she can look at the watch or the machine to read the accurate HR. At first, my wife did not like the strap she had to wear but now after using it for a month, she doesn't even feel it and will not go to the gym without this watch. She has lost 9 lbs and is loving the gym, even by herself!! This watch was worth every PENNY!

An excellent product for a fitness newbie

I recently started taking my workouts seriously and this is a great way to track my activity. The belt and monitor are very comfortable; I've even worn it to work a few times just to check the amount of calories I burn there during an ordinary day. The unit is rather simple to use although the buttons are a bit small for larger hands. If you do need additional help Polar has a few video tutorials that make set-up and operating it easy. The wristband is comfy and doesn’t chafe. This is an excellent low price way to up my fitness without spending a lot. Best Buy's easy online ordering and in-store pick up was awesome, I had everything I needed in about an hour.

This is a pretty good product. It's easy to setup.

I workout 3x a week doing high impact bootcamp cardio aerobics. I wanted a product that would accurately calculate my HR and calories burned. The watch is easy to setup and very easy to navigate. The chest strap stays in place and does not irritate my skin. However, for some reason the signal gets lost often and the HR stops reading which causes the calories burned to stop also. I have noticed that when I wet the strap thorougly I get better readings so don't be afraid to wet it. Overall this is a good product and I have reccomended it to many of my friends.

    Easy, Accurate Heart Rate Monitor

    |
    Posted .

This heart rate monitor is great. It's easy to input the user's settings (age, weight, height, etc.). It tracks your heart rate in beats per minute, or by capacity used. It tells you how many calories you burned, and the chest strap is very comfortable - you don't even notice you're wearing it. You are also able to transfer the data from the watch to the polar personal trainer site with the FT7 model, which allows you to keep snapshots of your workouts along with training load graphs. But you have to buy the separate Polar FlowLink data transfer product to do this. However, I think it's worth it. I'll wear my heart rate monitor when I'm doing yard work, playing on my kickball league, going for walks, spin class...just about any physical activity. Also, if you have Humana health insurance, you may be eligible for their Humana Vitality program which you can link to polar personal trainer account. You then get points with Humana Vitality for each workout, and get to use the points to buy things on the Humana Vitality website. Just a little more incentive to get one and start working out!

    Basic HR monitor

    |
    Posted .

I bought this HR monitor on the recommendation of a friend at the gym we attend. We are focusing more on HR intervals and maximums and it's an annoyance to try to stop and count it out during a workout, and on sale this is a great basic HR monitor. I am a smaller-framed woman and this "men's" HR monitor works just fine for me. Pretty basic, not Bluetooth or connectivity. It does make little annoying sounds reminiscent of early video games when you are outside of your target HR, but this can also be turned off (and I actually want that auditory cue).
