An unnecessary throwback
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bringing back the popular instant camera from the 70's seems like an interesting idea, and it can be fun. But gone are the days of needing to wait 10-15 minutes to get that printed square photo. With smart phones we can get immediate photos that we can send to anyone or save forever. We can get them printed at lots of places (even Shutterfly) for about 5¢/photo. The film for this camera costs about $16 for 8 photos ($2 each). This camera is simple to use... Point, shoot, wait 10-15 minutes for your photo to develop. Oops! Too dark... Adjust the brightness... Oh no! Too light. That's $4 already in the trash. This camera is also big and clunky. There is a neck strap, but who wants that big camera hanging on their neck? I just don't get the need for this camera in this day and age. It is too difficult to get that good shot especially for the price of each photo and it is basically featureless. What seemed like a good idea just isn't worth it.

Blast from the past!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We LOVE this camera. In a world of online photos, never printed memory cards, and phone storage galleries. This throwback camera is a breath of fresh air and brings back new life to the "Polaroid Photo". It is so much fun to hand someone an instant photo and watch as their eyes light up as the photo comes into focus (takes about 10+ minutes for full clarity). We older folks remember the days of the Polaroid and it is fun to share those memories with today's younger generation. My only issues is that the film is not cheaper and it is easy to burn threw $100+ worth at one social event.

nostalgic fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are lots of options out there for cameras. If you are in the market for an instant camera then I think this one fits the bill nicely. Prints take about 15 minutes to develop and come out clear. I would definitely advise shooting outside, inside light just doesn't do these shots justice. It's great fun and an instant keepsake memory. Set up and use is easy. This is an entertaining piece of nostalgia worth picking up and taking with you to gatherings and events.

Nostalgically Fun, Sort of Cool But Not Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The One Step 2 was fun to play with and is a cool conversation piece but the performance was a bit disappointing. My kit came with a two pack of film, one cartridge of color print - one of B&W. The viewfinder is a bit awkward to use in comparison to compact digital cameras - and certainly mobile phones. The built-in flash seems inadequate but perhaps my particular camera is faulty. Flash fill performance in darker environments produced very dark prints. In contrary, outdoor picture taking performance (obviously without the use of flash) produced your typical instant camera image. Nothing to write home about but fun in the immediacy of the output and sharing ability. Once thing we noticed is that the print development time seemed rather long - compared to what we remember. Some images, in normal inside house temperatures, took nearly 10 minutes or more for full development. Not sure if this is now the 'new standard' or perhaps the film packs we received were odd ball. Pros: Charges with an included micro USB cable - so no batteries to purchase. Pretty much point-and-shoot. Cool conversation piece and toy for parties or events. The viewfinder even has an diopter. Cons: Print development time seems rather long - like TOO long - in nominal temperature environments. Compared to prints that can be obtained from photo departments at major retail locations, that hazy Polaroid quality is still there and does detract a bit from the overall experience. The very basic viewfinder makes using this camera a bit unpleasant to use. The internal battery becomes depleted rather quickly when taking a lot of flash photos. I would only recommend this product to those looking for a nostalgic toy to pass around and play with at gatherings & events.

Purely for the Nostalgia
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't remember the last time I used a film-based camera. I also don't remember the film taking fifteen minutes for the picture to develop right in front of your eyes. This camera would make the perfect gift for someone who used to own one in their earlier days. For the millennial audience, I would think one of those portable compact photo printers would be more in tune with their way of thinking/living. If you like living with the nostalgic past, you won't be disappointed. Just be prepared to get lots of funny looks if you carry it around in public.

Nostalgic Throw Back Novelty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polaroid Originals OneStep 2 was a mixed experience for me. While I appreciate the retro experience with instant tangible pictures that you can pass around, I also love the amazing quality that modern cameras produce at a fraction of the cost. First, the design and build just feels awkward to me. I get that it is essentially a replica of the original cameras from back in the day, but I just feels clunky to me. Personally, I'd rather have a modern sleek design that spits out a great Polaroid. Second, the viewfinder isn't a true viewfinder. That is to say what you see through the viewfinder isn't a true representation of what the lens is seeing. To me, that could've been so easily done, but wasn't. Picture quality is something that you have to adjust your expectations. You're not going to get a DSLR quality or even a cell phone quality picture with this camera. Hence, I think it is more of a novelty item. Would it work well for parties as an instant hand out? Sure. To me, it's like a portable photo booth. Quality isn't great, but it's fast enough to give instant gratification and either impress or distress some of those who aren't used to pictures without filters and editing. As someone who is very cost aware, the $1-2 a photo is enough to be all but cost prohibitive. Even as a teenager (before the days of cell phone and digital cameras) I loved taking pictures. Film and development costs were cheap enough you didn't sweat a few extra pictures to make sure you got a good one. With this camera, you better make sure you're happy with the first one because it won't be cheap if you need multiple tries. In conclusion, I just can't get behind this product for anything other than a novelty item. Maybe for a young kid or a special occasion as something to give guests an immediate takeaway. Either way, it will be quite costly given how we can easily take 10s-100s of pictures on any given event! The design, picture quality (expected given the format), and cost just make this a product I believe will have a very limited market. Pros: *Novelty *Immediate tangibility Cons: *Design *Cost of film ($1-2 a picture) *Picture quality

Retro Photo - inexpensive camera - expensive fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Instant results that you can hand someone. Polaroid déjà vu - for a low-priced camera and high priced prints. This is a retro Polaroid camera modeled after the Polaroid OneStep. The prints look like what I remember the early Polaroid prints to look like. The camera is simple to use. On/off switch, film bay latch, flash off button(must be squeezed while releasing the shutter), shutter release button, exposure slider, an 8 dot LED exposure counter, with a USB port and cable(for charging only). It is bulky but light weight – easy to carry with the neck strap. It uses a slightly wide angle, high-quality plastic lens. Due to the viewfinder, careful framing is required. It drew comments and appreciation from those that saw it and its photos. It falls between the pure instancy of digital and the latency of silver halide in approach.

Great throwback polaroid
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the throwback to the old school Polaroid. The pictures turn out good. The viewfinder is just for an estimate as the lens is to the right. The issue is the cost of film is $2 a picture so that is where the fun ends.

Decent Camera. Film cost maybe an issue
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This brings back the old retro style Polaroid camera. It takes decent photos. Not the high quality that you're used to seeing from today's point and shoot cameras and cell phones. Colored film costs about $15.99 for 8 sheets. That's about $2 per photo. The cost per photo for pictures that are developed by 3rd parties cost about 40 cents per photo with higher quality, and a larger camera shot. People can also print photos from their home printers. I really don't see the benefit of using this with the current technology we have.

Really Fun Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This brings back old memories. Love the quality and the instant gratification of having a full size image print out (that feels nostalgic, but very soft/real like the old pics in the 80s/90s). The only complaint I have is the cost of the print paper but that makes you really take your time to point and shoot. It makes you realize in the smartphone world how you just rapid fire to take a good image.

Nostalgic hopes fall quite short
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted so much to enjoy this throw back camera, but alas it falls so very short. After reading the instructions, charging the camera, loading the film.... all of the photos turned out awful. I was not expecting perfection, just a fun throw back to when I had a Polaroid as a child. The original Polaroid pictures I have from the ‘80s are actually far better than these. I wanted to like it and rate it high, but couldn’t recommend this to anyone. I would not advise buying this camera.
