    Instant Camera, questionable lens

Polaroid is back under new ownership. The camera works but the lens on this camera isn't the best. Also, be patient with the film development. The images aren't as 'instant' as you main remember from your youth.

My daughter loves the fact about getting instant pictures. She says it’s convenient for her and friends. I dislike the final picture clarity! They’ve not bettered than the original Polaroid Instant Camera.

This camera is fun to use. However, it is an expensive investment. The film is over $2.00 a picture. We found that often packs of pictures did not produce quality photos.

This camera is very reminiscent of the original Polaroid cameras but has a lot of high tech features. Much better quality than the instax camera Fuji put out. This camera prints the original size Polaroid photos. It’s much more intricate than I was expecting. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth to add filters and special exposures. Your phone can be used as a remote to take pictures as well. I’m pretty tech savvy but I needed to take my time and read all the material before using this product. It just has a lot of features and the film is too expensive to “trial and error” how to use it.

Polaroid’s OneStep+ is a modern update of an old classic with a rechargeable battery an a snazzy app - but these adaptations aren’t sufficient to rescue the system from mediocre results. The camera is ostensibly a point-and-shoot camera - it has a switchable lens that allows you to shoot larger spaces (3 ft. to infinity) and close-ups (1-3 ft.) - it defaults to flash mode but there is a flash override - and the camera allows adjustment of exposure. Little lights on the top of the camera show you how many exposures you have left in your current film pack. The application designed to accompany the camera appears to be in testing mode but I didn’t encounter any problems with it - I think it is well designed. The camera communicates directly with the application by bluetooth and allows for remote triggering, double exposures, light painting, noise triggering, manual exposure mode, and a couple other features - the features I tried worked flawlessly. The connection between camera and app does NOT upload images to your device - though the app does have a scanning feature that photographs your images and adjusts them appropriately (assuming you aren’t capable of holding them perfectly square or perpendicular to your device) - but scanning your Polaroid picture means you’re taking a picture of a picture which seems like a bit much to me. But at the end of the day, Polaroid film is VERY light-hungry and the OneStep+ pictures are only successful when taken outside on a sunny day or taken inside as a portrait using the flash. And the exposures I have tried so far using the new i-Type film look very washed-out. I have found that flash close-ups inside are the most successful pictures but successful pictures aren’t necessarily compelling. The i-Type Black-and-White film had a nice rich range of grays but I don’t think that they are enough to recommend this camera overall. The OneStep+ is designed for the new i-Type film but it also accepts the older Color 600 type film (I haven’t tried that older style film - I know that I loved it back in the 1980s when I owned several predecessors of this new Polaroid for the 21st century). The camera and the film (at least the i-Type film) are a pair and even though the film is most likely the source of the unsatisfying results, you gotta have the film to sell the camera and I don’t think this film does that adequately. Polaroid used to sell miracles back in the day - now they just seem to be selling meh.

Not happy with this camera. Pictures come out too dark. Even with flash and lights on the pictures still come out too dark. I was going to return it but return date expired. Now I'm stuck with this terrible camera!!

Great but had to return first ine as film roller auto mechanism jammed in first usage. But its cool just like the old day polaroids but film is waay to expensive for old analog pics. Its about 19 bucks for 8 cheap film prints!
