Not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Way to fiddly for $1 or more a picture. Lighting really needs to be perfect and we lost an entire roll of film the first time we tried to shoot outside.

Would not buy again.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after falling in love with the mini Fuji films. I was so disappointed bc all of the pictures came out dark. I thought it might be user error and/or bad film but every set of film did the same and I never did much with it... it was a waste of money.

Retro Fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited to get this Polaroid OneStep instant film camera. I mean, it is retro and retro is in right now. When I opened the box, a familiar product greeted me, the Polaroid OneStep. It looks like something I remember. Once I unboxed everything completely and held the camera, it actually felt a little cheap with all its parts being plastic. It is a great thing that this camera comes with a neck strap so it won’t fall and break into pieces. It is put together like the orginals Polaroid, which draws on nostalgia. But don’t let the plastic outside fool you, this Polaroid has some real nice features and of course instant film. The built in flash makes sure you have adequate light when taking pictures. The pictures I took turned out better with the flash on, than off. This is also a light sensor that you can adjust. It helps with pictures taking when it is bright or a little darker. That is very convenient especially in evening time pictures. The viewfinder, it shows what you will take a picture of, obviously. There are two lenses portrait and standard. Simple, portrait will take close up picture 3ft and in, and the second lens is for wider shots around 2 ft to whatever distance away you would like to take. It is nice to have a choice. I took a portrait picture of a friend and it turned out fine and met my expectations of what a Polaroid camera pictures take. Which is analog not digital and pictures are not perfect, but that is considered a “charm” of this camera, like the originals 1970s. There are a set of 8 small lights on top of the camera that will tell you how much film you have left. A little disappointed here because one pack of i-Type film will only give you 8 pictures. I wish it would hold more, so you don’t go through film so fast. Of course there is a power switch on the top back of the camera. Easy on/off switch that you can slide up or down. The film is easy to insert. You can choose only color or black/white when you purchase the film. It is a pack of 8 instant camera film. To open the film deposit, slide the switch on the front right above the opening that the film will go in. The bottom of this area falls and you can insert the correct side up. The film tells you on the pack which side to place up or down. The difficult part of the camera should be the easiest: Bluetooth. I followed the instruction to a tee and I could not get the camera to link the bluetooth to my Smartphone. I tried for a long time to get this to work and found that, to hook up Bluetooth, I had to adjust how I did it. Now I don’t know how if everyone’s experience was the same as mine, but here is how I hooked up Bluetooth. Go to Bluetooth settings on your smartphone. Input “Find other devices” and an Icon for the camera should show up. I tried to pair with Bluetooth by pressing the + on the camera. I was not able to pair the two together. I tried a lot of different ways and finally found a way that worked. Others who have this camera and their smartphone may have an easier time. So I opened the Polaroid app first, then I turned on the Bluetooth on the camera by pressing +. The phone having detected the camera in Bluetooth mode, recognized the polariod device (but wouldn’t pair). Then I went into the already open app and selected and selected the OneStep bar. Then it hooked up the camera to my smartphone. Once I knew this is how it worked, I had no problems pairing the two together. On the smartphone it gives you several ways to take pictures, including: Remote, Self timer, Double exposure, Light painting, noise trigger and manual mode. This is way more advanced than the original and more fun too, with Bluetooth. This Polaroid OneStep+ is for the individual who likes retro products with a modern take. The picture quality comes out very similar to the original. Don’t expect digital quality because this is analog. The instant film is nice to get right away, but it has to set in for 10-15mins before the picture will truly be a finished product. The film is a bit on the expensive side at $16-$18 for 8 pictures! Make sure each picture counts and have fun. I am giving it three stars because of the Bluetooth problem I had and the expensive nature of the film. Also it is made of plastic, which make it kind of vulnerable to drops or mishandling. But I love the idea and the reality of this camera introduced to a new generation of people having never seen anything like this in their life. It is a fun device to play with, and will be a hit around different events where you can take pictures and make memories.

Polaroid One Step Plus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Poor picture quality - not sure if it was the camera or the film. Images were flat, virtually colorless. Didn't matter if flash was used or pictures taken outdoors. Controls didn't allow any meaningful exposure adjustment.

A flash from the past refreshed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A flash from the past refreshed. This type of camera is commonly used in property and facilities management for paper files. Used mainly to document damage. Some folks still like photo albums and don’t use web services. Being able to use an app is an interesting twist. But I think it might be confusing for some people who just want to keep things simple. Don’t like how hard it is to assemble the camera strap. There’s got to be a better way. It’s great to have an option to use this type of camera. Glad to see it available.

Refreshing Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is for those that are tired of using their phone and/or digital camera to take all of their pictures. There is something about having a tangible picture come out, requiring you to think and frame your shot well. If you can overcome the cheap plastic feel of the onestep+ and understand the importance of every shot, then you will find yourself enjoying the experience of taking a picture and anxiously waiting to see the results. PROS: Best instant camera on the market Advanced features via the iOS app Works with I-Type film CONS: Cheap plastic feel

Fun, But Pricey, Nostalgia
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Retro instant film cameras really began it hit the market hard a few years ago. Polaroid, one of the original “old guard” names of instant film cameras, recently introduced the Originals Onestep+ as a upper cost entry into the market. The camera can use either I-type film or more expensive 600 film. Since the OneStep+ doesn’t need 600 film, I’d recommend you stick with I-type unless you’re also using another camera that requires 600 film. The OneStep+ produces pictures that are larger than most other modern instant film cameras. Each image is about 3 inches square, which is pretty nice. Unfortunately, that also means the film is a bit more expensive than the film used by some other instant film cameras that produce smaller images. It’s a trade-off: larger image at greater cost per image or smaller image at lesser cost per image. I tend to like the larger images. Plus, the OneStep+ looks a lot like the original Polaroid cameras I recall from when I was a kid. As many items are in a retro design phase now, from cars to cameras, I think the OneStep+ will blend right in. In terms of image quality, the black & white film is very good. The images show excellent contrast and strong levels of detail. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised. Color images were not as impressive, unless you like your photos to come out with an "aged" look. Specs from Polariod: Dimensions: L 5.9 × W 4.3 × H 3.8 in (L 150 × W 111 × H 97 mm) Weight: 1.08 lbs (493 grams) (without film pack) Battery: High performance lithium-ion battery (1100mAh), rechargeable via USB Outer shells: Polycarbonate + ABS plastics External viewfinder barrel Lens: Optical grade polycarbonate lens, coated Shutter system: Custom design using precision step motor Optical System Lens: Fixed focus lens Standard lens focal length: 103 mm Portrait lens focal length: 89 mm Field of view: 41° vertical, 40° horizontal Flash System: Vacuum discharge tube strobe Bluetooth LE connectivity Neck Strap and USB charging cable included Tripod mount on base of camera Using the OneStep+ is super easy. Basically, it’s a point-and-shoot analog camera with a few digital tricks, thanks to BT and the companion app. You load the film by opening the hinged door on the front. Turn it on, eject the film cover slip, and then start taking pictures. The viewfinder is large and makes it pretty easy to properly frame the shot. Just like the Polaroids of yesteryear, the OneStep+ does not offer much in terms of controls. You do have a shutter button and an EV compensation switch, but that’s about it. You can use the app to create a double exposure image and to control shutter speed. You can also save/scan a digital version of your photo. But there are a few other tricks thanks to the app. You have a portrait mode for selfies. You have a remote trigger, timer, "light painting," a "noise trigger," and access to a more intensive manual mode. These little toys make it a lot more engaging. I can see light painting being a big hit. The micro USB charger is in a handy location on the back. Overall, this is a fun novelty camera. It’s a little bigger than some of the competition, but is still portable and easy to use.

Blast from the past.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is every bit like the polaroids of past. Cartridges are easy to load and the camera is easy to use if you want to just point and shoot. The connected bluetooth app is great for getting more technical with your photo shooting. My only gripes would be that the film is expensive (to be expected on a niche product) and there are only 8 shots in a film cartridge. If price is no worry or you have a special use case for this type of photo I guess that is not as much of a deal breaker. Also it seems like these new photos take longer to develop but that might just be my old age remembering wrong. Overall great direct to film camera.

Fun Stuff
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had all but forgotten the fun of playing with a Polaroid camera. We used to have one at almost every gathering, back in the day and anyone who wanted to take a picture could. This is not a professional level camera. Polaroids never were. What they are is cool. This camera is fun. Kids are awestruck to see the image appear before their very eyes. Worth having for the fun of it. If you have a kids party let the young uns have at it. That alone is worth the cost of a film pack. Enjoy

Nostalgic, but issues with photo refills
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of Polaroid since the 80’s. Having that immediate photo is what made me fall in love with their products. The One Step+ hits he right nostalgic tones, but I have a few gripes about the execution. Pros: -nostalgia. I love Polaroid and the ease and immediacy you have with this device. Easy point and shoot, remove the photo and wait 10 minutes while it develops. -app support. You can use your smart phone as a remote to take photos of yourself. Neat idea and I’m glad that they added this feature. But for me, the nostalgic factor prohibit me from using this. -compact design that allows me to travel with ease. It’s not too bulky and fits well in my kids hands for them to use. Cons: -film. After three film ejects, you don’t shake it like the old ones. You let it sit in a dark room for 10-15 minutes while it develops. Also, this comes with 2 sets of film: black/white and color. Each set comes with 8 film so you would have to buy new film cartridges. And those are going for $16 and up! That is the major reason why I docked off a star because this can get expensive. -neck lanyard. The directions on how to feed it through the slots are all wrong and I ended up not using the lanyard because it was frustrating to put on. Overall, nice call back to the 80’s and it’s easy to use. My kids love how you get the film instantly. But the costs for additional film is ridiculous.

Broght back great childhood memories
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay so this is a novelty item to me. Not a necessity but a quirky item that brings back childhood memories. My kids loved taking pictures with this. I liked that it connected to my phone via bluetooth, I would not have expected that feature. Again sort of cool... but not necessary. Really my only issue is the cost of the film. If you are looking for a novelty item or one that brings back your childhood memories this is for you.

A great retro/Mid-modern device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the popularity of mid-century modern homes, it only makes sense to bring back one of the iconic technology devices of the 60s and 70s. I had several Polaroid cameras when I was young. One of them was the One Step (SX-70). Now this classic camera comes back as a retro device which now offers modern-day technology. The updated "Polaroid Originals" version of the camera has BlueTooth capability with the addition of an App. In the app, you can view and edit photos taken by the camera. After my initial use I think I'll be using the digital side of the camera versus printing out photos.....but showing my kids what a Polaroid camera did/does took made us go through the first pack in minutes! It's a little expensive for what you get when you compare the price to digital cameras today. The nostalgic look and feel of the device helps justify the cost. After downloading the App, I was able to get up and running quickly. Generating effects was intuitive and fun. The camera is large and a bit clunky as well, but that's only due to the comparison with the the size of today's digital devices. This is a great device for people of all ages but I suspect the baby boomers will purchase this for themselves or their kids (or grandkids).

Fun Throwback!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything about this camera screams retro hipster and I love it! Everyone loves shaking it like a Polaroid picture and now you can do it again! The photo quality on this device is surprisingly great and the different film types available add to the nostalgia and fun. The only reason I docked 1 star is the film is quite pricey for only 8 photos per pack.

Get Nostalgic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1970 called and it wants it's camera back! Nostalgic people can rejoice that the beloved Polaroid camera is back! Make no mistake. This is not like any camera you are using today. You will not find crystal clear super colorful images. Instead you get muted or slightly faded colors with images that are less than pristine. One of the main differences between this version and the original 1970 version is the speed of development. I am old enough to have had the original and it seemed like you'd have you picture in about 5 minutes. This new version takes about 15 minutes before the image is fully developed. Keep in mind that this camera uses film. I'm sure you knew that if you are reading this but I'll say it again. It uses film. That means you have a limited, very limited actually, number of shots. 8 to be exact. The film is not cheap. I wish they could get the price of the film down substantially. Right now it's running about $2 a picture. I'd like to see that cut in half. That's the short story. Now for the downsides. The camera uses a rechargeable battery. The quick start guide should have said to charge the camera as step 1. It makes no mention of this. The main marketing thrust of this version is the mobile app that gives the camera extra functionality. My experience with the app was pretty bad. After starting the app and getting it connected, it wasn't really connected. Ultimately I realized that you are truly connected when the plus button on the camera front is solid blue, not blinking. I had to shut down the app and restart it to get the solid blue. The second issue was that the connection only lasted for one shot. After that I'd have to rinse and repeat. Shut down the app, restart it. Third problem was the app crashing which it did way too regularly. I have it connected to a Samsung Note 4 which isn't that old and it should have been sufficient for a connection. The 3rd and final issue I had with the app was the double exposure. I had it on that screen and when I went to shut down the app my finger must have brushed the shoot button. Tada, you have now made your first shot. Now take another! I had no recourse to undo that action. A bit harsh but I'm not sure what else can be done about this. Just be careful when you are on that screen. Overall, I found that I would rarely use the phone connection. I would tend to use the camera more as it is without the enhancements. The double exposure and time lapse though did work well. A few issues I had with the camera itself. The flash is always on. There is no "switch" to turn it off. Instead you have to use two fingers to take the shot. One on the shutter button and another on the back side of the camera to hold in a button to turn off the flash (flash override). I'd much rather have a switch than doing some slight finger gymnastics. Next is the lens setting. You can switch between Portrait and Standard lens. I didn't really notice a difference. We then move to the Lighten/Darken switch. The switch is black on a black camera and the text to say what is lighter and darker is embossed in black. In other words, you need great light to see which way to flip the switch. The most jarring issue was the viewfinder. It was misaligned. It pointed too far down which means that what you think is the top of the photo when you shoot it is really about 1/4 to 1/3 down the photo. That leaves a lot of empty space on the top. Once you know this you can adjust but it's way off so it's a bit strange. In summary, I really wanted to love this camera. I wanted to be taken back to my childhood. I think it did that to a large extent but there are a series of compromises to get there. It will be great to use for some special occasions but it certainly wouldn't be a camera I'd carry around all the time due to the cost of the film. I wish I could give 1/2 stars out here. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars. 1 star off for the cost of the film and 1/2 a star for the different settings that are a bit difficult to set.
