The remote was defective out of the box. The sound separation was so-so, not too bad for such a small device but no substitute for a larger soundbar. The bass response was good.

Only thing that I don't like about this unit is that I have to point the remote directly at the system for it to work properly, and it takes so long for the system to respond to the button you push on the remote

Remote worked for one week. Replaced batteries with no improvement in remote. Great sound but worthless if I have to get up and manually tune. Received sound bar as a Christmas gift Dec. 25 2017.

This soundbar is a perfect fit for my application. It sounds good and provides a nice amount of bass. It was easy to connect though the optical connection. I am disappointed in a few items. First, the HDMI port will only work through an ARC connection on the TV. Second, it does not get very loud probably because of its size. Finally, and most disappointing, the remote is awful. It randomly goes into programming mode when pressing the volume buttons. I was unable to program my cable remote to control the bar using the instructions provided. The bar and remotes would never sync properly. I was able to get the cable remote to function by using the instructions that came with that remote. However, it has the same problem of entering into programming mode when using the volume buttons.

Remotes won't pair correctly, Some commercials go quiet but not all. Bluetooth function works great though. This was an open box purchase. Disappointed overall.

I have a LED TV, and the sound is pretty bad. This is pretty amazing, love the bass. I have tiled floors, not carpeted floors, so the bass is incredible. Only con, can't get the remote to work with my cable remote.

Arc would randomly lose lip sync, pausing would create weird high frequency noises, sub would put out interference noises, activate if it sensed wind or wanted to accentuate a male voice, female voices would even activate the sub, the remote doesn't function reliably, ALL of the sound comes from one central point. There exists no stereo anything. Bluetooth never synced with the video. I could go on. Look into Vizio's options if you must do a soundbar.

I like that all cables are included to hook up to my TV. There are multiple choices. After some time and some glitches (controller didn't seem very responsive) I got my sound. It's very nice . I like that I can raise and lower 'voice' volume. I am very happy with the sound and I like the small amount of space being taken up by this speaker.

Decent sound system ruined by poor remote

I received this soundbar system through Best Buy's Tech Insider Network in exchange for an honest review. I labored over this review and unfortunately, in its current state, I cannot fully recommend this sound system. Here's what I've found after using the system for a couple weeks. Pros: - Setup was very simple with no complications. I setup this soundbar system in our downstairs bedroom. It's good-sized for a bedroom, but it's not a large room like a living room or family room. The TV in that room does not have HDMI with ARC, so I had to connect via optical audio. - Bluetooth connection was effortless and works well. - For the value and size, this system has a decent sound. - The subwoofer has amazing bass drive and is fully adjustable. - I was most impressed with the Voice Assist feature which works very well in isolating vocal tracks of movies to help better understand dialogue. That's a huge plus for me. - The Night Effect feature also works well to reduce background noise and isolate vocal tracks for low volume listening. - The Movie, Sports, and Music modes work well for boosting appropriate volume levels for each preset scenario. Cons: - Speaker frequency ranges are not the best. Highs seem to dominate over mids in the sound bar. Also, sound is very centralized at the sound bar itself and is not well amplified throughout the rest of the room. - The indicator LEDs on the front of the bar are somewhat deceiving. There are five lights to indicate volume, yet these lights are also used when switching sound modes or when switching input. Also, you can also increase the volume well beyond the five lights. So, essentially, there is no accurate indicator of volume level. - The poor remote is a huge con. Quite possibly the most frustrating remote I've ever used! It has a very poor response time causing the user to continue to push buttons multiple times before it responds. If you were increasing volume, when the sound system volume finally catches up to all the button presses, you get blown out of the room and wake up everyone in the house. Also, the remote must to be used dead on straight to the receiver. It simply won't work at an angle. Overall, I'd say this otherwise decent sounding small room soundbar system is ruined by its poor remote. I'm very sorry to say I can't recommend this audio system with its current remote control. The Polk Audio engineers need to fix the remote and/or receiver before the system is released for the public to purchase.

The setup on this unit was simple. I plugged it in to my power strip and the subwoofer into the wall. I connected the soundbar to my tv via the provided digital optical cable and I was listening in under two minutes. This sound bar delivers excellent sound. It has a nice mix of bass and treble and the voices come through really clear. The subwoofer delivers nice bass. I was a little reluctant as the woofer speakers are on the bottom of the woofer that it would be muffled but that was not the case. The remote is easy to use and comes with three preloaded settings for movies, sports and music. It fits perfect in tight spaces as the unit is small but powerful sound. The only negatives were removing the back cover of the remote was a little difficult for inserting the batteries. I also have found the remote does not have great range. I am about 20 feet away. It does work but I feel if I move closer it is more responsive. Nice unit with quality sound.

Setup was fairly easy, until it comes to set the remote to learn other remotes. Sound is pretty good. Treble and mids are a little suspect at times, when volume get higher. @@@@@@@@ But that also depends on what you are watching) The unit is small and unobtrusive, The subwoofer has deep lows. I recommend HDMI arc setup over the digital optical cable setup. Comes with bluetooth and easy google cast connection. WiFi is a bit spotty but works. This is a nice option for a small to mid-size room

I've been keeping an eye on this Soundbar for a good while now. Caught one as an open box so I couldn't go wrong. While it did not come with the remote I did end up going back to best buy to let them know that it wasn't as described for the open box. Low and behold, the guys there did me a great solid... after searching for another unit, they finally just said forget it... Here's a brand spanking new one... for the same price! Now I was really excited! Finally got to bring it home and installed it. Absolutely amazed as to how great this sounds. Lots of bass, lots of clarity. Plus Chromecast built in is a great bonus! Can't go wrong with this!

The Polk MagniFi system has actually exceeded my expectations, especially considering its diminutive size. When I first saw it, I figured the sound would be weak and tinny but that couldn't be further from the truth. Now, will this system rattle the pictures off the walls? No. But that's not why I have it. @@@@@@@@ If that's what you're looking for, don't bother reading the rest of this review and shop on for something more fitting. @@@@@@@ The sound from the 42" Vizio in my bedroom is severely lacking and space was a concern, so the size made the Polk a perfect fit. The remote requires direct--and I mean direct--line of sight to the soundbar or it simply won't work. The multi-color LED's on the face are supposed to inform you of all sorts of status things, but they are basically useless. Beyond these two things though, I really like this little system. The highs are crisp and the lows are warm. It is not bass heavy, but the wireless subwoofer is only 6.5" so I didn't expect too much. The mids can get a little lost, but overall the sound quality is very good. Setup is extremely simple and is helped greatly by the fact that Polk includes all the cables you could need right in the box, so no running back to the store to pick up something. That's a big plus that's no longer present in a lot of products. If the remote sensor was a bit less finicky and there was some sort of information screen in place of the LED's, I couldn't fault this system.

I am impressed with the performance of the Polk Magnfi Mini given that it is a relatively small soundbar (approx. 13" in length). It definitely enhanced the audio to make watching movies more enjoyable. Setting up the Magnifi Mini was relatively easy although I could not get the soundbar working with the HDMI port and had to resort to the optical port for connecting the TV. The wireless subwoofer paired up without a hitch and added depth to the audio. After setting up the soundbar, I watched "Saving Private Benjamin". The bass from the subwoofer was very impressive however the midrange was a little lacking and the pinging of the bullets was a bit tinny to my ears and the dialogue was a bit too high pitch for more liking. But being able to feel the vibration of the explosions and the wide soundstage produced by the Magnifi Mini made watching the movie fun. I also hooked up my stereo to the soundbar via the 3.5 mm auxiliary input which allowed me to listen to the stereo with adequate sound quality. An audiophile would probably not enjoy listening to music through it but it was more than acceptable to my tone depth ears. One annoyance I had with this soundbar that others may not have issue with is that the soundbar, although relatively small, is that the soundbar's 3" height blocks my LG TV's IR sensor if I center it right in front of the TV. The soundbar doesn't have an IR pass-through so in order to use my TV remote, I would have to place the soundbar off-center so it doesn't block the IR sensor. In doing so, the audio seems to come off-center. Other than these minor annoyances, I would recommend the soundbar especially if you are limited in space.

When I first got the box, I could feel the weight more toward one side of the box. From previous experiences, I thought the subwoofer was packing a good amount of weight. Well, imagine my shock when I realized the bulk of that weight was coming from the soundbar. It is clearly packing some quality speakers. As you can see in the picture, the weight is packed in a small package. However, that size is not an indicator of its abilities though. I have found the performance to be very good whether I was watching TV, playing games, or streaming from other devices. Since I have an older TV, I think the quality could be even better when I upgrade that. Getting back to the specifics of the Polk Magnifi Mini Sound Bar, I found the WiFi, Bluetooth, and Chromecast connections all work well and with little effort to connect them. I was able to stream via all of those methods with great quality. The only issue that I had with connections was the use of my TV remote to the sound bar. I tried to follow the directions several times, but I couldn't get it to connect. I reviewed the included guides and online materials a few times and still couldn't solve it with those. Ultimately, I love this device with it's size, performance, and price point taken into account. I also love how it blends into my setup and provides the sound I need to enjoy movies, sports, and music. With that being said, here are some pros and cons to help to the value and what can be better. Pros: 1. For most of your connecting points or options, they have provided them for you. The only one missing is the ethernet cable if you prefer that route over the WiFi. 2. The Soundbar is small. but contains enough speaker power to overcome that. 3. The subwoofer is wireless and the connection is established from the time you open the box. This thing really bumps when the right content is being played. The family loves feeling the vibration from time to time. 4. We are an Android house and the ability to use Chromecast is a huge plus. I really think this tool is a winner for Google Home. 5. The ability to elevate the voice over the ambient sounds. The Night mode and dedicated voice controls work well when you need to hear the dialogue over everything else. Cons: 1. I do like the ability to control the voice, but it would be nice to not sacrifice the bass at times. An equalizer with more detail would result in better performance of course. 2. The inability to get the remote from my TV service to control the volume for the Magnifi Mini Sound bar was a bummer. Nobody likes the multiple remote game. 3. If it wasn't for my TV stand, I would have been lost with a wall-mounted TV. I would have had to find a stand to place it on or a mounted a shelf for it.

    Nice soundbar with sub

I had a different brand soundbar that worked ok, but wanted something better. This soundbar was a bit complicated to set up. It has a system of LED lights that determine what mode you are in during set up. I found the manual a bit confusing so I went online and found a video on YouTube. That was much more helpful. Once set up, I found that the sub was making crackling noise. This seems to be an issue with this system as it uses the same frequency as many wifi routers. I had a router within a couple of feet of my sub. I called tech support and they suggested moving the sub a bit further from the router. That took care of the problem. I'm not a fan of the buttons on top of the unit as there isn't much space above it, so I can't see the buttons on the unit. It was also a bit complicated to program my Dish Network remote to control the soundbar. Again went to YouTube and watched a video. This made it much easier to understand. All in all, I like the way it sounds. Sometimes it even lowers the volume on commercials instead of them getting louder. I like this feature. Other than the slight set up challenges, I would have given it a 4, but I'm only giving it a 3 due to the set up challenges.
