Great floorstand speaker for 5.1 on Yamaha V473

Running this speaker with the Polk subwoofer off of my Yamaha RX-V473 and it sounds great. Receiver plays surround sound for my living room entertainment setup and is the base for a multi-zone home speaker setup through my computer with Airfoil. The sound supplied by the Polk subs and satellite speakers for the 5.1 setup are the solid base on which my home sounds system is built. I gives the underlying full range of sounds and does so without distortion and amazing clarity. Adjustable Bass is great for when the wife and kids don't want to hear the walls shaking, and for when I don't care. Sounds great with gaming and movies. Highly recommend this floor standing speaker along with their subwoofer and the other Polk home audio products.

Perfect for a medium size room. I was a firm believer that for good bass, I needed a 12 inch bass speaker. The sound is amazingly clear. The tweeter did "over do it" when I played my opera, but then I just adjusted my amp treble and it sounded really great. Can't believe how good a thump you get out of a deep throw 6.5 bass speaker. Only one of the three bass speakers is doing the work, the others just aid in the thumping, not connected to amp, or internally to the speakers. Great value and sound. I hope they last. Have them hooked up as fronts on a Denon 120 watts per channel, and I pushed and pushed! Sound was clear.

After reading reviews, I elected to go with the following for my new HTS: Onkyo TX-SR343 700W 5.1ch receiver, Polk T-30 Center, T-15 Bookshelf (front), and T-50 Floor (surround) speakers. Also Went with the Polk PSW-108 Subwoofer. It all works together like a dream! Sound depth and clarity is amazing. Plenty of power with this system too. Shakes the walls! The T-50 speakers sound so amazingly clear and lifelike, it actually causes us to think we are hearing real sounds outside when the surround sound channel is active. Highly, highly recommend all of the speakers above. The receiver I mentioned is good as well, but I wished I'd have bought a 7.1ch instead. But that's a different review. T-50: Excellent speaker for the price. You won't be disappointed!

These are the least expensive towers I could afford. They replaced a pair of Paradigm Titan v2 bookshelf speakers. I also removed a pair of subwoofers from my system which leaves a low end to be desired. The midrange and highs match well with my Paradigm center channel and front high and rear surrounds. With use I expect lower frequencies to warm up. The speaker walls are rather thin so I can feel some resonance, I'll experiment with blu-tak quiet that. I am also considering taking off the grills as they vibrate to the touch.

I didn't expect I'd be replacing my old MartinLogan speakers with these. Based on reviews, Klipsch was my presumed first choice -- these were only a "maybe" on my list. I took my time comparing the sound of all the tower speakers BestBuy has on display, sampling a wide variety of music and familiar voices over a range of volumes. To my ears, the fidelity of these speakers was never surpassed by any of the others. More often than not, the Polks had superior fidelity. At home, they sound even better. It's gratifying to have gotten the level of sound quality that I crave at such a low price... Best speakers I've ever owned!

Needed a 5.1 setup after my home theater in a box solution died on me. Bought a Pioneer Elite receiver and needed some speakers. I'm not an audiophile or anything like that, but wanted to fill a 20x20 ft. room with sound (mainly watching movies). After doing lots of research, it came down to the Pioneer SP-FS52 (Andrew Jones) towers and these. I watched a Youtube video comparing the two speakers with a song playing while flipping back and forth between the two different brands. I couldn't really tell a difference, at least not a $30 difference per speaker. Went with these speakers, and couldn't be happier with the sound.

This speaker is good for what you pay for. Theres speakers that give you boom boom boom and theres speakers that step it up and give you clean sound when pushing it and still get the good boom boom when you turn it up. I got the rest of polk surround tower speakers. Alone they give yoy a good punchy low. But for sure to get a much much bettta punch get the sub. Make sure the reciever you hook up your speakers to is not under 80 watts or over 180 watts per channel. If its under you wont get the peak of the speaker if its over, you can blow your speaker. Make sure you talk to the best buy salesperson and letem know what reciever you have n watts

Bought a pair of POLK T50's these speakers have outstanding sound quality for a 2 way tower speaker and those other 2 woofers are passive radiators but the sound is full bodied and rich cabinets have very good solid construction and they look good next to my TV and with the rest of the furniture. Nicely balance sound capable of producing good amount of BASS nice crisp HIGHS. I am happy with these speakers and i recommend others who are in the market for decent tower speakers or thinking about building a home theater system consider these speakers and you will be highly satisfied with the sound these speakers reproduce.

Based on the many positive reviews from other buyers, I bought a pair of these Polk speakers. I connected them to my receiver and compared them to other speakers I own. The Polks sounded okay on instrumentals, but on vocals they sounded like the singer was singing through a hollow tube. It made the singer sound "behind" the music compared to my other speakers where the singer sounded clear and in front. Even at the cheap price, the Polks weren't worth the loss of vocal quality. I returned them and bought the Sony Core towers. They were much better.

I am very happy with this purchase. My movie viewing experience has been enhanced over the past (almost) year that I have had this set up. I would certainly buy Polk speakers in the future. My room is moderatly sized so I never had a reason to really push these guys but what I do get is a crisp, clean sound. Lets cut right to the chase. For me the Sony Core speakers have better sound overall. I appreciate the crisp clear highs of the Sony Core tower speakers. The Polk speakers have better depth and fullness. The Polk just sound muffled compared to the Sony Core towers. That being said the Polk's cabinets are far superior to the Sony cabinets. Nicer looking, better build feel, better grills, smaller footprint. They are essentially the same size speaker tower but Sony chose a bigger base of cheaper material. I kept the Polk t50 over the Sony Core.

I’ve said it before. I’m not an audiophile. But when these went on sale on Black Friday for $60, I jumped on them and bought 4 of them. I set them up with my newly purchased Denon AVR-X2400. I set them up without a sub woofer at first. After my Denon set everything up, it didn’t need a sub woofer. I then connected my subwoofer, and man. Now we’re thumping. Made my gameroom come alive. They make great surrounds too. Now my wife won’t leave my room until we binge watch the second season of The Crown. I’m glad I bought these when I did. Awesome investment.

I picked these up around the thanksgiving sales and got a stellar deal. Along with the bookshelf speakers from the same line they sound great in a home theater. The effect of surround is amazing for the price. I also have a Paradigm cc-350 center channel and it does a very good job of imaging. When it is just the two of the T50's on, you would swear the center channel is still on. The imaging is that good. The bass is not very good for front channel speaker, but in my apartment they are the perfect volume. You can still hear all the bass, just no slam at all. Perfect for a second theater or a bedroom system.

These speakers really changed my home theater set up! I wanted to upgrade my rear speakers and was looking at a set of bookshelves but for the money I bought these and my mind was blown away. Yes they are overkill for what I use them for but they only cost $30 more than the bookshelves I was buying and they would need to be mounted where these were able to be placed on the floor. Very crisp sound coming out of them and play great with music. Nice bass response.

Polk Audio - Dual 6.5" 2-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker - Black My system has experienced another upgrade and the sound clarity is incredible. I was very surprised as to how much of a difference they made and it's hard to believe this is an entry-level setup. I would recommend these speakers to someone with an average size room such as mine that is looking to stay within a safe budget. I got two to add to a 7.2 surround sound system.

I purchased these to replace an old gigantic set of basement speakers for our exercise room. I researched them online and thought these would work as a decent bang for the buck speaker since they are only for a basement. When I arrived, Best Buy was having their Black Friday sale and they were on sale for 50% off as was the sub-woofer that is the match for these. Since they were on sale I purchased the pair and the sub-woofer. They sound great & take up half the space of my old 80's style speakers. The sound quality is plenty good enough to be used for a home theater set up if you wanted also.

I use these for a simple 2 channel stereo setup (powered by a 20 year old Onkyo receiver) in a fairly small room. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough low end, but, i was very pleasantly surprised by the bass response. They won't shake your house, but, they are pretty well balanced are are perfectly fine for my needs. I was definitely pleased that the tweeter doesn't seem to exhibit any of the sizzle you might expect from an inexpensive speaker. I picked these up on one of Best Buy's periodic 50% off sales and i am impressed by the sound quality you get for the price.

This is a great speaker if you want to put together a home theater but also don't want to break the bank. I was also looking at the Klipsch R-820, but for less than the price of two of those I could buy all the Polk T Series speakers necessary to for a 5.1 surround sound system. I've had these speakers along with the center channel, sub-woofer set up for about a month, and so far I have been very pleased whether I'm watching movies or listening to music.

I purchased a set of these speakers as a gift for my father, to replace a set of Pioneer speakers that were over 25 years old. Nevertheless, the Polk T50s are a good value. Having various models of Polk speakers, I was impressed at what these lower-end speakers delivered. For the price of around $150 a pair (on sale), it was worth it. However, if the speakers are at regular price (MSRP), I would look at some more mid-range models. That being said, they appear to be pretty close in performance to Polk’s mid-range speakers.

Bought two of the tower speakers on Thanksgiving day sale ($75 per speaker). Also, bought center channel speaker (around $70). Basically, they replaced my basic Harmon Kardon Speakers (HKTS 20). I am really pleased with the performance. Enjoyed dynamic bass and treble (with Onkyo Receiver : TX-NR676) while watching the movie. Note : You can download Dolby Atmos for XBox (free !) and change the speaker setting in XBox to get the sound effect to the full extent.
