Polk Audio -Magnifi is the Max in Dolby Atmos
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polk Audio Magnifi AX is the best Sound System that I have ever heard. I am a big fan of Bass and it delivers as advertised. The Polk Audio Magnifi AX setup was a little different after connecting the Polk Audio Subwoofer into the power outlet, I was able to connect the Polk subwoofer directly to my Roku Ultra Streaming device and Amazon Firestick using two of the three 4K HDMI inputs. My Roku Ultra is connected to HDMI 1 and gives me Dolby Atmos MAT, while my Amazon Firestick is connected to HMDI 2 and gives me Dolby Digital Plus 5.1. Still working myself around the Polk remote and how to get the most out in controling my Smart TV. What more could you want that gives the best output sound from the Dolby Atmos DTX plus Polk Audio 11 speaker array with height drivers. Polk Audio (SDA) Stereo Deminsional Array technology is amazing at expanding the sound field all around. The Polk Audio Magnifi AX comes with a 10 inch subwoofer to take care of the powerful deep Bass to fill any room.I had a 3.1.2 that the Polk Audio Magnifi replaced and 5.1.2 Surround System is a big improvement. You can adjust the Bass, Treble to your taste and there is a special feature called PolkVoiceAdjust where volume is controled in clarifying speech. They also have additional wireless rear surround speakers available to increase sound and audio capability. It has a super wireless music streaming hub that supports wi-fi and bluetooth streaming with my favorite Google and Spodify connect. There is so much you can do with the new Polk Audio Magnifi AX sound system to get the best audio and sound by using the included remote to control your Smart TV. WiFi was easily set up through my Google Home App on my smartphone where I can also control my Smart TV volume. Polk has stepped out and made Dolby Atmos and DTS X thier own with the surround sound bar up firing drivers that gives you a complete experience in setting the mark for others to follow.

Simple and Awesome!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never owned any Polk audio products, so I was skeptical about the quality and sound of their sound bar and wireless subwoofer. I want to say how I was blown away by the sound quality of both the sub and the soundbar. The installation was straightforward, and the cables were minimal. I like the subwoofer. It's wireless and very powerful. The speaker is located at the bottom. Unfortunately, I did not have the .75 tweeters (sold separately). You'll also have to buy the sound bar and tweeters wall bracket (also sold separately). I like that the speakers connect with google or apple home. You can also use the basic Bluetooth 5.0 option. I mostly use the speakers with Spotify or my tv. The sound bar and subwoofer were heavy, the sound bar was 13 pounds, and the subwoofer was 26 pounds, so you'll need help carrying the box. The back of the sound bar has 3 4K HDMI @ 60hz, 1 HDMI eARC 4k @60 Hz, Optical, and USB (for updates). No option for ethernet. The sound system comes with remote control, but you can adjust it with your tv to use only your tv remote. I like this sound bar so much that I plan to buy the tweeters so I can get the whole experience. My gaming (Xbox series x) is much better, and the movie experiences are better. I recommend it to anyone!

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had the sound bar and sub since the end of December 2024. The sub is already malfunctioning making a strange thumping sound while bass is playing. Maybe this is why it was on clearance. Wish I could return it but BestBuy has a very short return window. Will try a warranty claim.

Bass is missing dimension
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the sub does pretty well at catching the lows that a lot of low price subs miss, it’s totally missing the mids and punches. Like, there’s none. So there’s a lot of gaps in sound quality- while some songs sound great, others sound very empty. Was hoping for more for the price ($699).

Terrible Best Buy open box experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this open box in “excellent condition”. Drove hours away to pick up. Finally setup and only the center channel work. Subwoofer wouldn’t connect. Back panel indicator lights did not work. Obviously this item was not checked by Best Buy associates. Wasted hours of my time I won’t get back. Best Buy refused to do anything about it.

Simply dynamite sound bar - worth every penny!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a sound bar user for a number of years - my thinking was always that while a sound bar traded off some on overall sound stage depth and quality, you gained a good bit on simplicity of setup since you didn't have to wire in / mount satellites and whatnot. It also made the wiring significantly easier without the need for a large receiver (thanks to TVs with optical out and, more recently ARC/eARC). And mind you, this was not with cheap sound bars. So I usually ran a sound bar in my living room and a full multi-piece surround setup in my family room/theater. But with this set, Polk has worked some sort of black magic and squeezed sound and features better than an entire (and more expensive) receiver + individual satellites/subwoofer. I mean, the sound is just incredible. The sound stage is astonishingly deep and the clarity is wonderful. Even without the wireless rear speakers (which I did end up adding, more for completeness than anything), it's really room filling sound. It can also replace a receiver because it has multiple inputs that it can act as the switch for - 3 HDMI and optical audio inputs - as well as it's own built WiFi, Bluetooth and streaming applications, including a built-in Chromecast. Just crazy. The push-button enhancements do actually work as they say, boosting voices (which some setups tend to lose a bit) and boosting bass. And it supports the latest sound standards in Dolby Atmos and DTS: X which really (Atmos that is) increase the directional audio - the speakers in the sound bar aim in different directions to help create great directional audio even from a single sound bar that's in one place.... It's not the smallest sound bar (though Polk does offer a more compact option / version if you want it - I did not test that one as I did not have that particular need). And it's certainly not the cheapest - the old adage of "you get what you pay for" does certainly apply here AND it was still much cheaper than buying a high end set of receiver + speakers. What it is then is simply the BEST sound bar I've ever used. Or heard. Period. And I can highly recommend it if you want great sound for your set up.

Impressive for Daily Use with Superb Bass
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to upgrade from an entry level sound bar to something better, and wow this has really impressed me. The packaging is done well. It is heavy because of the sub woofer, but can easily be carried using the handles cut out on the box. This sound bar has so many features, but the stand outs for my use are the VoiceAdjust and bass levels. The VoiceAdjust feature works, using the center channel speaker, to elevate voices over other sounds. This is incredibly natural and much welcomed when so much content is music and sound effects heavy. The bass is also something unreal. I've not had a higher end sub woofer before, but this one is amazing. The bass is deep and booming, adding a real sense of immersion rather. It is hard to describe, but once you experience this type of bass you won't want to be without it. Both of the voice and bass features can be adjusted with the remote, to find the setting that work best for you. The atmos feature is another thing done really well. I tested using a scene from The Tomorrow War, and the effect is amazing - with just the sound bard and sub woofer alone. You can also adjust the "height" of atmos effects using the remote, to find setting that work for the room you are in. There is an OLED screen on the front of the sound bar, hidden behind the fabric. I love being able to see the volume level and other settings with the screen facing me (not having to look down on the sound bar). I've also used it for music streaming over AirPlay, and it works really well. You can also connect over Chromecast, Spotify Connect or Bluetooth. After using the sound bar and sub woofer alone for a couple of days, I added the SR2 surround speakers. They are sold separately, but are a nice addition if you want them. They easily connect to the sound bar wirelessly and only require to be plugged in. This happened to work perfectly in my setup and I'm loving the surround effects. Overall, this is an amazing system and I highly recommend that you try it out.

Posted .Hi HappyPhantom,
Thank you for your detailed review. We are very pleased to learn you are making the most of your MagniFi Max AX. It is a big step-up from
when we used to rely on just the built-in TV speakers. Thankfully we now have these precious things called soundbars, which when paired with a sub-woofer can create what can seem to be very desirable little earthquakes.

I'm hooked.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start by saying sound bars have been around for some time yet I never had the interest in getting one. I must say, I couldn't be happier with my first experience with this amazing product as my introduction into home theater systems. Unfortunately my current TV doesn't support the earc port needed to experience the full range of features offered with this device which made me nervous that I had a system I couldn't use. But I didn't falter and trudged on until I found other connectivity options that worked. Setup using the Google home app made connecting and updating the device exceedingly simple. With that done I was able to connect to my Fire stick via Bluetooth. That's when the fun began! I was instantly blown away by a very crisp sound quality and ground shaking bass. The ability to tweak the levels on voice, treble, and bass allows you find that perfect balance of sound without the need to switch back and forth through TV and movie modes. It is a rather large system though. The sound bar itself is pretty long and heavy which makes me skeptical about wall mounting, but the package does not include the proper materials needed to wall mount anyway. The bass box takes up a good amount but I do appreciate the speaker itself being located underneath the unit so I don't have to worry about it getting damaged when my kids are playing nearby. I tested the sound quality with my kid's favorite shows, as that will be is primary use, and was very happy with the clarity it delivered without the need of being overly loud. Once I put on a Star Wars movie I was instantly hooked and eager to upgrade my TV to experience the full capabilities of the Dolby Atmos features. I will gladly update my review once I do so.

Fast setup, great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older model MagnifiMax soundbar which sounded great but was hard to keep connected & the first bar was defective so I was a little skeptical on getting another one. This one is not as nice looking as my old one & is extremely large, the subwoofer is huge & very heavy & the speaker is very long & sits up so high that we can’t turn the tv on while sitting down. The remote isn’t as nice either but we can use our tv remote to control the volume. At first it had an echo but we turned our tv internal speaker off & it sounded much better. Those are the only things I didn’t like about it & not enough wrong to give it less than 5 stars. I set this up so quickly, it took about 5 minutes. I used an HDMI cable, one came with it, also an optical cable, the subwoofer connected to it right away. You can connect with Google home or Alexa, I couldn’t get the Google to connect but Alexa did. I like the built in display which fades out after awhile. Bass & treble can be set with the remote & also show on the display. There are 3 HDMI ports & 1 USB port. There are also different modes for music, movies & night which turns down the bass. You can voice adjust also. This comes with Dolby Atmos but our tv is older so I’m not sure it’s compatible with this feature. I connected my iPod & played music & it sounded great, watched a movie & the walls shook & asked Alexa in the house to play music in the family room , which is in our detached garage, when I went out the station I requested was playing. Despite it’s large size , this is a super easy, fast setup soundbar with great sound.

Great Product for a Good Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Polk Audio - MagniFi Max AX soundbar and sub-woofer is great. It comes with a remote and batteries, HDMI cable, power cord for subwoofer and sound bar, and wall mount spacers. All nicely paced in styrofoam with soft covers. The set up was easy thanks to the included instructions. The packaging gives a QR code for video instructions, but after multiple tries and time exploring the Polk Audio site, I never could find the videos. Thankfully they weren't needed. Once the setup was complete, we were treated to an amazing sound experience. Listening to music was so nice and clear allowing you to enjoy all the sounds and instruments. The sound quality when watching video was excellent. You could feel the thunder in the 'Our Planet' episode we watched. Also, the voice adjust and night modes worked very well. It seems those kind of features have experienced a marked improvement in recent years. Even without the optional extension speakers, the surround-sound effects were impressive. At times I thought I was hearing sounds outside only to realize it was from the movie I was watching. Sound bars and sub-woofers have come a long way from the early days of muffled bass and enhanced volume. With that has come a much better price-to-performance ratio. This product is an excellent example of that.

Don't get your Dolby Atmos hopes up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a TV with less than satisfactory sound, this is a decent setup. However, if you have a TV with decent sound or are looking to really enjoy yourself some Dolby Atmos, you might be disappointed. Out of the box, the sound is fairly muddled. There are some tonal changes you can make such as bass, treble, and even voice, but the sound never really satisfies. (I would point out that you can adjust the height, which proved helpful.) Upping the voice makes it sound kinda tinny, and leaving it as is out of the box, dialogue is just as hard to understand as it is coming from the TV speakers themselves. Dolby Atmos. I'm not sure why they include this in soundbars other than the fact that you can pair this with a set of rear channels, which I did not get, but I imagine might make the Atmos sound more like it's meant to. However, with just the soundbar alone, there is no encompassing sound. Not even close. While you do hear a little more of a "surround sound", you definitely aren't going to think planes are flying overhead. I have a full 5.2 setup in my media room, and while it's not a "true" Atmos setup with either overhead speakers or up firing Atmos speakers, watching a movie in Dolby Atmos is really cool. It makes me want to add some speakers in my ceiling to get the true experience of Atmos. So if you are just looking for a decent sound bar setup, with a decent sub, this might work for you. It also has eARC for full pass through of HDMI signals, such as Dolby Vision, but I'm not sure what you'd be passing it through to. If your passing through signals then you're going to be better off with a home theater receiver and surround setup honestly.

Posted .Hello, sorry that you are not 100% satisfied with the Soundbar. Like most speakers, the soundbar does require a bit of break-in time. Once the speaker driver's break-in, the sound will open up and provide a wider soundstage. The dialog should improve as well. The Atmos effect will depend on the acoustics and ceiling of your room. Not all content is Atmos. Be sure to provide the soundbar with an Atmos signal. Only a TV with eARC can provide an Atmos signal if using the TV's built-in apps. Streaming devices can be connected directly to the soundbar if your TV does not have an eARC input. Posted .Hello, sorry to learn of your experience. Speaker drivers require break-in time. If I could, I recommend a bit more playback through the soundbar allowing the drivers to break in. Once broken in, the soundbar's audio will improve, sounding more open and dynamic. Please feel free to reach out for further assistance. https://support.polkaudio.com/
