The Polk Signa S4 is a soundbar meant to complement your TV at the same time using minimal space as much as possible. First of all, the Polk Signa S4 is not going to replace your full surround home theater setup. It is alternatively a 3.2.1 soundbar meaning that it has three channels namely to side speakers, a center channel, two up firing speakers and sub-woofer. Mainly this is an entry Dolby Atmos enabled soundbar which can enable to immerse you in sound due to the up firing speakers. But in order to have Dolby Atmos, you must have eArc capabilities on your TV and a Dolby Atmos enabled disc player or media streamer such as the Apple TV, Roku Ultra and Google TV. The Polk Sign S4 is primarily a dumb soundbar (meaning no wi-fi and app for your phone) which for some is a blessing as they prefer not to fiddle with both the sounder’s settings and their wi-fi’s settings. That said, connectivity is pretty simple out of the box. The soundbar comes with its own 4k enable HDMI cable and an optical cable for those who have older TVs. Do note that if you use the optical cable, you will not be able to enjoy Dolby Atmos sound (more on that later). It comes with a fairly simple remote that controls bass and voice volume and also has bluetooth should you want to play music on the soundbar using your phone. Unfortunately, this soundbar does not have OSD (or On Screen Display) meaning that you not only not know your volume levels but also there is no indicator whether audio output is in Dolby Atmos or not. The remote also has the capability to control the voice channels (but I am not sure if voice solely comes out of the center channel or not). Also note that there are controls to set the levels of the various channels in this soundbar so you are pretty much blind with regard to this and simply play it by ear. I have tried using this soundbar with several movies known for their soundtracks like the Matrix, Pearl Harbor, Saving Private Ryan, etc. Overall it provides a crisp sound with clear vocals which is truly a jump from your TV speakers. And even if it’s only a 3.1.2 system it still gives a sense of being immersed in sound. The sub-woofer provides decent bass but to expect it to perform as well compared to a much larger active sub-woofer. Nonetheless, this soundbar still gives a punch. And as I mentioned its Dolby Atmos enable sound, do not expect wide audio panning on this soundbar. Having no surround satellites, audio seems to me as one dimensional though you still get that immersive feeling when playing Atmos content. And sadly, Polk did not add the capability to expand this soundbar by making it a 5.2.1 or a 5.4.1 system. As such this soundbar fails in that department. But in spite of this, the Signs S4 works well in a bedroom even without satellite speakers. But playing it on your living room may leave you wanting. For that, I am removing one star from this soundbar. Overall, I would also consider 5.2.1 systems at this price point. But then again, if space is a constraint, the Polk Signa S4 is a simple soundbar worth considering.

Rich sound quality, surprising bottom I.e.bass Great value

This thing BUMPS. It has, likely, a hundred volume settings that are shown by 5 LEDs and I’ve never had to go above 2 fully illuminated ones and one barely there one. When I first purchased this I turned it all the way up, laid on the floor of my unfurnished, new-to-me, home and played this (https://youtu.be/3VZFpwlXKpg?feature=shared) audio test by Dolby and was literally and figuratively blown away. One thing that I wish this item had was the ability to add rear/wireless speakers like some of the higher level Polk systems allow. Packaged well. Set up was easy. Sound is phenomenal. Looks slick. 10/10

Excellent sound bar, absolutely great base & love how easy it is to set up.

I'm really pleased with the purchase of the Signa S4. I got it for my bedroom and it is giving all that it needs to give. I read a million reviews and narrowed it down to the Signa S4 and a Bose. I decided on the S4 because when I worked at Circuit City in undergrad, they guys that installed car stereos swore by Polk Audio. Although Bose is a well known name, I just couldnt see getting the sound I was searching for by just a single device. I wanted to have a subwoofer as well and I'm so glad I did. The bass is so real, not fake bass, if you know what I mean. I've used it with cable, fire stick, and streaming music from my phone. I can hear the voices better on my TV shows and the music experience is just what I was looking for.

My LG TV had poor sound quality and Polk Signa S4 sound bar greatly enhanced the sound. Using the HDMI cable it was easy to install and integrate with the TV through the television settings option so that it turns on and off when the TV is turned on and volume is controlled with the TV volume. The Bluetooth option also works well with a phone audio source. I have not tried the voice enhancement feature much, but there is some improvement in voice over background sound. Overall I'm happy after having used it for about three weeks.

I am very picky about sound quality. I found this speaker and subwoofer to be excellent for a reasonable price. The quality of sound is exceptional, the packaging of the product was great, and the set up could not be easier compared to multiple other speakers I have used in the past. Well done Polk! Very pleased with this purchase, it works great! It was easy to set and more powerful and smaller than our older one. Great upgrade all around.

This is a good brand Polk has been around for quite some time now making quality audio the speakers support Dolby Atmos which is great for watching movies sports and gaming great bass clear sounding excellent quality and yes I do recommend buying them great value for the price

Setup and use is great. Now, 2 months in, I hit volume up ONCE, and it immediately went to max out which caused the whole system to not respond as it was treating like I was holding the volume button non stop. Took out and replaced batteries, no change. Did a reset on the sound bar, same problem. It does it with volume up or down. Took apart the remote and couldn't find anything visibly wrong. Just ordered a remote from amazon hoping that works better as I do really like the sound quality.

I've had this Polk Audio system for over a year now. Great sound easy setup with my Sony TV......not disappointed with the performance for the price at all. There are much more expensive units out there, but this one serves my needs perfectly!!

Bought this on Black Friday to pair w a 65" CU7000 Samsung TV for my bedroom. It's very impressive, fills the room w sound and I was a little skeptical about the sub being so small but it punches pretty hard and really adds depth to everything.

The sound bar is actually very good I live in a 2 story home and it rattles our whole TV area. It had a powerful subwoofer I use Bluetooth on it a lot because I play music when I’m cleaning the house it sounds really good. Also love the pre programmed modes for movies and music and voice clarity

This is a great product. I am loving the thunder this thing produces... Great quality, great control for voice adjust and night mode. But I would have loved a little bit more control over the trebles, higher frequencies are kind of not carried in balance with the bass it boosts. Other than fantastic product, for the price.. i definitely recommend if you have like a 24x24x12 room... Wanted to give 4.5

Both my wife and I have hearing loss - increased volume doe not solve all the problems of tone, articulation and poor sound tracks, but the Polk system does. We seldom have to wonder what has been said. It was also easy to set up and operate.
