Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Voyager 5220's sound quality, comfort, battery life, and Bluetooth connectivity, frequently praising its lightweight design and range. However, some customers reported issues with the fit, occasional connection problems, and a perception that the volume could be improved. A few also felt the price was somewhat high. Overall, positive feedback on sound and comfort outweighs concerns about fit and connectivity.

“The battery drains very quickly — it only lasts a few hours, which is very inconvenient. The sound quality is also disappointing: it’s too quiet, and I have to strain to hear anything. I expected better quality, but this purchase was disappointing.”

This is the best Bluetooth in the Market to me.

Like the title says, to me, this is pretty much the Best Bluetooth headset in the Market, however with that said I do have some small complaints with this device and as well as some good stuff to say about it so keep in mind that this is my second replacement from BestBuy as the first one either had a defect or perhaps I might have damaged it. Pros. 1.Excellent microphones built in: it let's callers hear me very clearly, specially if your phone has HD voice built in, you will get the best clarity when callers hear you. On other brands I had, people would complaint about hearing my voice very muffled but not with the 5220, everyone who I talk to says they can hear me very clearly. 2. Battery life: so far it has given me about 6 hours 55 minutes out of the advertised 7 hours and 15 minutes of talk time and since i do have it on standby, when im not on a call with someone the Bluetooth has last me more then my 10 hour work shift. I can drive home which is another hour or longer depending on traffic and I still have about 2 hours left! 3. The design: it looks very sleek and professional. I have gotten compliments on the streets which is weird to me as that has never happened before. 4. The gel ear tips feel very comfortable but can be a little tricky to remove to swap out to your proper size, you have to put a little pressure to change the ear tips so be carefull. 5. The button for commands: it is awesome, I am using the 5220 with my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and works great when I want to call someone, I can say call so and so person and it will do it. I can also use Google assistant with it which is pretty awesome, I LOVE that feature. 6. Bluetooth connection Range: it claims to give 98 feet from your phone, however on my test I got 65 feet before it disconnected from the 5220 which is by far one of the Best i have ever tested! Most of the ones I've owned in the past barely give me 20 feet range with lots of static. Now for the cons: 1. The manual: unfortunetely there is no explanation as to how the device charges, specially if this is your first Plantronics Bluetooth this is important. To put it as short as i can, the little LED light turns red when the 5220 is low on battery power, flashes red/blue when its pairing to your phone for the first time, Flashes blue 3 times every 5 seconds or so to indicate that the Bluetooth is almost fully charged, then turns off when its fully charged. Recommended charger is a 5 volts 1 AH, DO NOT use a 5 volt 2 AH as it will Damage the battery. I think that's why my first one stopped powering on after a few days of buying it. 2. The charger, Sigh..... The 5220 came with a car charger instead of a home charger, it's sort of good as i read that the older 5200 version didn't even have a charger. However, Most people charge their Bluetooth headsets with a charging brick that usually comes with your Bluetooth earpeace, I don't know anyone who would use a car charger to charge their bluetooth inside a home so a home charger would have been a better idea. Most would be using the Bluetooth for hands free talking in a car not charging it in one. They also don't sell a charging brick made for it. So once again make sure you buy a random 5 Volt 1 amp hour USB charger to properly charge your 5220 in case you don't have time to charge it off your PC. 3.the volume, if you Max out the volume on the 5220 you will Damage the speaker inside the Bluetooth and it will sound like a torn plastic bag when people call you. I made that mistake with the first one so i recommend only having it at 80% volume to avoid this problem. That seems to be working for me so far. Bottom line: it's still a great Bluetooth headset and I hope the next version comes with a HOME CHARGER. The price is a little steep for what you get out of the box specially since you are not getting a proper charger for it and there is also no case provided to store it, not even a case you can buy as an extra add on like the last version but it's still worth it based on its performance and extremely well sound quality of making and receiving calls. So I would still recommend it to anyone over any other brand out there, specially if you are able to drop the cash for one of these.

    Decent headset

Overall it's a decent headset. It can be used in either ear and can be switched back and forth quite easily once you have done it a few times and get the switching pattern down. It charges quickly and it holds its charge quite well. I personally believe it holds its charge better than expected. I love the speak "Answer" to answer feature. People tell me I'm clear on their end and not much additional noise, so the noise cancelling is really good. The volume on the headset is decent but it doesn't have the volume or fullness of sound of other brands I've used. This is mainly due to it not sitting fully in my ear or in line with my ear canal. I find myself at times pushing the headset in flush with my ear canal to hear better. I wear glasses and that even further distorts and messes with how it aligns in my ear. If I'm not wearing my glasses it works better but it's still not optimal for fit or volume. Determining the remaining talk time on the headset is as simple as touching a button. Overall it's a decent headset that is worth the money, but if you wear glasses or are hard of hearing you should certainly check out all your options first to determine your best fit.

Thank you for your honest review on our Voyager 5220, we are sorry to hear you're experiencing trouble with your unit.

In order to troubleshoot connectivity or audio issues you might want to try resetting the Bluetooth connection between your phone and headset to see if that helps the issue. To do so:
      1. Delete the headset from your cell phone's list of paired devices.
      2. Once deleted, power your phone completely off, then power it back on. This resets the Bluetooth stack in the Bluetooth software on the phone.
      3. Re-pair the headset with your phone. If this does not fix your issue, we suggest pairing the headset to another cell phone as a test.

If the issue is not present on the second phone, then the problem may be with the first phone, rather than the headset. If the issue exists on the second phone as well, you will need to replace the headset. Please don't hesitate to contact our customer care group at www.plantronics.com/support if you require assistance. Plantronics

It truly delivers on all fronts. The sound is rich and balanced, with a great separation of instruments and vocals. The comfortable fit, even during long workouts, is a major plus, and the noise cancellation is surprisingly effective, blocking out a lot of background noise. The battery life is also impressive, lasting well over a full day of use. Overall, these earbuds are a top-tier choice for anyone looking for a premium audio experience

This is by far the best headset for calls ever made...with one ISSUE. The sound quality is phenomenal. The volume level on maximum is more than loud enough to hear callers clearly. Colors can also hear you clearly and the wind resistance is 2nd to none. In terms of comfort it's built for all day use. With an open ear design it's made for you to leave it on all day and then forget you're wearing it. And there in lies the problem. The neoprene that surrounds the ear loop can be degrade overtime from body heat. It can be worn while working out but will only degrade the neoprene faster.. This will cause the headset is becoming looser and looser on the ear over time. This turns the perfect fit into a bit of a sloppy mess. Battery life is excellent and is perfect for all day use. My only wish is that Plantronics would bring back the 3200 series.. That one had almost all the same capability Without the neoprene loop. I'm sure the 2022 version would have better mic quality as well even though the mic quality of the mic was very good. Still I love the 5200 series; I just wish I had not had to buy so many over the years to maintain the fit quality.

Pro: -- Feels comfortable on my ear. -- Easy to use. -- Easy to install and connect to my fault. -- 6 to 7 hours battery life. -- I have less to worry for parts to break around the ear. Con: -- Recent Firmware update made the earpiece disconnect from my phone at random times as if it's going to sleep. -- Ear piece that goes into the ear irritates my ear after long use. -- I wish the volume was louder. Max volume is still a little soft. -- I don't think it has a siris function where you can ask it to do something or call someone through your iPhone. If you hold it call button, it will recall your last call. -- Range is small if I step away from my phone.

Best headset on the market, but they don't last for more than about 10months, the lil ear cushion rips, and the rubber around the ear breaks. The warranty from best buy is a most. Nothing beats there noise canceling in windy conditions. Sound quality is great, Mic is very clear. I personally didn't know if I'd like the over the ear design, but I don't even know its there any more. This is not a headset for listening to music (you can) but it is a headset for conversations, business, casual, meetings. and the like. I have had dozens and will continue to use them until something better is found. I have tried numerous brands and keep going back to this. I use mine daily, and is on my ear most hours of the day, due to its compact size, and great functionality.

I had an older Voyager model and the sound was always terrific on both ends of the call. As with most model updates in tech products, this one makes the expected improvements - better background noise filtering, better battery life, & the latest Bluetooth version provides noticeably better range - and then it also adds cool new features like the sensor to prevent pocket re-dials and save save battery when listening to music. My old model broke at the swivel joint above the earpiece, so hopefully time will tell if this part of the design was also improved (I did purchase the charging case accessory, which should help). So, why only 4 stars? Size. I'd like a compromise between the Voyager 5220's features / performance with the size of my old Bose earpiece (~25% smaller, with similar acoustical performance).

I've been using the Plantronics Voyager Legends for a number of years and until now they were the most comfortable and had the best voice quality of any other blue tooth earpiece at any price. This new unit the 5200 version has better sound quality, especially in windy conditions, that was the single weakness of the previous Voyager Legend product. Even better, the Blue Tooth version has been upgraded from 3.0 to 4.1 and the range is even better than before. They also added a micro-usb port, in addition to that magnetic charging connection. I never really liked that the magnetic connection was too easy to dis-connect. This ear-piece has been improved in almost every way! Again, Plantronics has set the bar for the best sounding Blue Tooth cell phone earpiece and interestingly, "Best Buy" was the 1st to get this in stock. In fact, amazon still doesn't have this newest model on their website!

Plantronics - Voyager 5220 Bluetooth Headset

I got this Bluetooth after returning the Blue Parrott. While I loved the Blue Parrott the headset itself was painful to wear so I decided to give the traditional type Bluetooth another try. The Plantronics Voyager 5220 is a great Bluetooth. It can be worn on either ear. The sound is pretty clear with no static. It is crazy but sometimes it will read out the full name in my contact list when they call but most times it just says answer or ignore. Sometimes I have to shout at it cause it does not always pick up on your voice the first time. Also the Google voice sucks as it does not work most of the time, so it isn't truly hands free.I probably need to download the Plantronics app to make these issues go away. There is occasional static & the earpiece does hurt after long periods of wear. The battery life to me isn't that great. (Remember I returned a Blue Parrott that could go for 24 hrs without a recharge so I am spoiled!) But this is a adequate for daily use. It does come with a car charger so it can be charged on the go. A USB is included but no plug. I guess they figured you have enough of them laying around. That may be an issue with it keeping a decent charge as it seems to deplete itself of energy pretty quick. The range isn't as advertised. I think when they say range they mean unobstructed, like nothing between the Bluetooth & phone. If I go out on my porch or from the bedroom to the kitchen the call become very static to the point I sometimes cannot hear my caller so you may need to carry your phone with you while walking around. I like to pace when I am on the phone. It is as stated sweat proof. Once I download the app ( I so hate having to add yet another app to make a device work properly!) I will come back to give an update.

I have bought many headsets over the years, the last one was a trucker headset cost more than this one and sound was nowhere near as good or comfortable. Tha Plantronics - Voyager 5220 noise cancelling comes with 3 sizes of ear pieces.. I found the largest to be the best for all day comfort forget its even on my ear at times. I do field service for banking industry equipment, stays on your ear when leaning over into equipment ( very important to me ) and noisy backgrounds call quality is still excellent .. over all you cant go wrong with this headset .. oh and one more thing battery charge is good for 7 hrs talk time .. and its comes with a mini usb cable w/car outlet power adapter and will charge fully from 2 hrs talk to 7 hrs in minutes. again .. best there is and with the extended warranty for 15 bucks if your out and it stops working run by best buy and swap it out .. no fuss no muss warranty

I bought this while working remote in a hybrid call center/research position. Plantronics was recommended to me by a colleague, but I bought this model on a whim when I saw it in store. Used it daily for meetings and voip calls for about a year. It replaced several USB wired headsets. Sound quality, way better. Comfort for 10-12 hour work days, check. I no longer work for the company, however I grab this guy whenever I need to make calls. Even in the car with great Bluetooth and a full sound system, I'd rather use this headset if I'm talking business, or just catching up with the family. I hate holding a phone to my face, and I hate even more repeating myself due to a bad speaker phone or earbuds. This is the best headset for calls, including many wired options, that I've used to date. I even use it regularly for group chat in gaming, when it's not competitive. When the game is priority, though, I default to my Logitech g935 just because this obviously doesn't have 360 audio.

I have always used headsets with my phones, and I always buy Plantronics. I first came to know the quality of the Plantronics brand decades ago when I was in the telecommunications field and worked with many different brands of telecommunications equipment. The Voyager is comfortable. I like the over-the-ear design and the movable microphone arm. The Voyager stays in place. But the Voyager’s noise cancellation is the reason for buying this headset. It performs very well, even better than my last Voyager, even in environments where I have had issues before, or when people on the other end of the call had problems hearing me clearly. The battery lasts well enough for me (5-6 hours). Although I have the Voyager on for a long day, I am not actually talking on it constantly, so battery is not an issue. I have a portable charger for long trips. If my usage reached a more intense level, I would get two headsets and switch when needed. The Voyager is more expensive than other products. I rated its value as excellent because I received what I paid for. I have never been willing to experience annoyance with telecommunications equipment for the sake of a few dollars. I recommend the Voyager for its quality of design, construction, and performance.
