This is a replacement for another like it that is 6 years old. It stays put even when driving on rough terrain. Your GPS unit mounts easily and is installed on top of the dash. Just plunk it down, plug it in and turn it on and you're ready to go. Best mount you can buy if you don't like leaving your unit in your car all of the time.

I got this to replace a beanbag style holder, and I really like this much better. The bottom holds its place well on the dash - no sliding at all!! My older one slid all over, so I had to keep it down by the gear shift. This way it is up in my line of vision, so its perfect. And it's really easy to put the GPS receiver on. Love this!!

Needed to mount my new gps in another place other than windshield, gps blocked the view and the cops didn't like it. Good stable mount for larger gps, and makes it easy to set in position that doesn't have a way to attach the suction cup on the provided mount.

This Garmin friction mount holds well on my son's 89 Chevy Caprice dash even when he is driving at a brisk pace around switchback roads.

This is my second time buying the same product, and it still is just great! I am in rental cars all the time, in locations all over the country. I depend on my GPS, but do not like trying to attach it to the rental car windshields. Instead this base works great. It is not cheap, and is a bit heavy (which is why it works so well-it's stable) but very worthwhile.

Helps to hold the Garmin in place. Fits the dash better than most because it molds to the area where you place it.

This is the best thing going if you don't like leaving you gps stuck to your window. This thing stays put, b doesn't move at all.

Just purchased a new luxury car and was concerned about my GPS falling from the window suction cup and doing some damage to my dashboard or console. I was skeptical but the friction mount solved the problem. It's pliable so it fits the contour of the dashboard and is easier to reach. Highly recommend it.
