And then soon as the return period ended, the right trigger became non functional . So now I have to either take it apart and hope it's an easy mechanical fix it just eat the cost and realize I'll be replacing it often, or pay extra for the protection plan

I've spent 200+ dollars on other name brand controllers to receive the same result. Paddles work flawlessly, as the button mapping is as easy as holding a button down and pressing the others. RGB isn't needed but they have it anyways and it looks pretty good and can even be turned off if you're not a fan. Overall, if you're looking for a cheap alternative to gain the competitive edge you've found the right controller.
