It is just heavy enough at the base to not be knocked over easily. You have to tilt the controller just perfectly to make sure it sets on the charging port correctly, you get used to it but really not an issue overall.

Controllers are always ready to go and battery life is the same as if they were new! Plus so easy to just set them down on them!
