This is a scattered review.
Worth it? Yes.
Why?
You're either reading this because you're interested in buying the game, reading a review, or bored. So let's get to the point.
From the purchasing perspective:
You have your money and you've never played Dynasty Warrior Games.
You have your money and you have played Dynasty Warrior Games.
Either way it doesn't matter.
The game is a hack'n'slash type of gameplay. Which is the mainframe of all Dynasty warrior games.
If you're going to purchase this game it's because you like Gundam, or Dynasty Warrior games, or hack'n'slash games.
If you don't; why buy it?
Maybe you want to try something new.
Anyways here's the qualities:
Good:
- The game excells at its graphics. They are great for an anime type game with the cell shading and HD qualities.
- The game excells at multiple characters and options for playstyle.
- The game has good music and good atmosphere.
- The best thing about this game is options. Yes, there are many options to do things. The game is long, but also takes long to unlock most stuff. Patience is big in this game, DON'T RUSH THROUGH IT.
- This game is very unique with a common Hack'n'slash (does that make sense?). Koei doesn't make their games mindless. Many reviewers call this mindless and easy. Unfortunately there is a LOT of strategy in all Dynasty Warrior games. This game will hit your emmotions of excitement, anger, frustration, happiness, and personal achievement. (if that's an emotion). Why? Because it affects you - Personally -. And if a game can do that, it's a good game. Which is the only reason I gave it a 4 (IMO) instead of a 2-3.
Concern
- Worst things about this game is that if you are a lonely child and don't have online, this game will last the average gamer 2-3 days for 50$. Is that worth it? (I'll leave it to you).
- The (something was suppose to be here).
- ONLINE PLAY: Online play isn't too exciting.
It's 15 missions which are spammable and farmable. This game really puts the player into a farmgrind for suit patterns (which make your characters stronger). Everytime Koei tries to extend to newer content or something 'Cool' they limit it like morons. Online play is so limited you have to trick yourself into thinking it's fun. It's merely a grind for a rank. But you do get to fight fun bosses. Which last about 15 seconds. (To xbox live players: If you're playing Gundam online that's 15 seconds a mission (online) for about 20-30 missions a day (online) for $7-$10 whatever the price is for Xbox live given you're playing gundam online and nothing else. Worth it?)
And that's it for online play.
-No versus mode.
-No story mode together.
-DLC is availble over a few weeks each.
Just 15 missions that have up to 4 players playing at a time making it not even worth the time.
The biggest problem with Koei is that they make wonderful games with wonderful characters and wonderful artwork and stuff. BUT they ALWAYS limit you. Either on purpose or because they (are kind of dic*s).
Anyways. Worth it? I still think so.
If you love the Dynasty Series, and you Love Gundam. Let your imagination go wild.
It's what you like. NOT what I like. NOT what I say. NOT what other reviewers say.
It's you. Do your research and buy what you THINK is worth it.
MULTIPLAYER AFTER FIRST 2 MISSIONS OF THE NEW GAME. MUST PRESS START BEFORE BEGINNING A MISSION. IT IS STILL FOCUSED ON A SINGLE PLAYER PROGRESS.
GAMEPLAY CONTROLS CAN BE ADJUSTED
MULTIPLAYER SPLIT-SCREEN IS VERTICLE NOT HORIZONTAL
LIMITED MAPS AND YOU CANNOT CHOOSE ALLIES OR ENEMIES. THE GAME HOWEVER HAS HUNDREDS OF MISSIONS TO PLAY WHICH ARE RE-PLAYABLE.
