This game is amazing. In fact I was just playing it last night. It's been over 3 years so unfortunately the online aspects no longer work, but the game is still lots of fun especially the RPG mode called "My Career" in which you create your own player and you start out playing 1 game as a college player and then you get interviewed by a few NBA teams and the combination of how you played in that game and how you answered your interview questions determines where you get drafted.
After the draft you slowly build up your players skills through playing hard and doing practice drills. It's a lot of fun. Become Rookie of the year, win the championship.
If you have a Pro Controller you can play multiplayer games
