This is the game that got me into gaming! I never played video games as a kid and didn't have much interest, until a friend had me try this. Extremely obvious take--it's incredible and everyone loves it for a reason. Engaging storyline plus the ability to do whatever you want, whenever you want makes for a pretty incredible experience. I have recommended it to several other non-gamers I know and all have enjoyed it!

All of the other reviews and recommendations of this game as a "must have" are correct. Great gameplay and fun on both console or a TV. Since you can't spend all your time getting bells to pay off Tom Nook (can you?) this is definitely one to add to your library.

Okay, the launch lineup is lacking but what better way to start off this console life with a Zelda game! BoTW is fun, open world and shows off what the Switch can do as a handheld and "traditional" console when docked. It plays great when using the Switch as a handheld. The game is fun and that's all that matters for me ...

This is unlike any zelda game I've ever played but that's not a bad thing. I'm not a fan of open world games, yet this game does something that hooks me entirely. I enjoyed every gameplay element in this game from the cooking to the fights even to the weather elements that affect the way you can traverse across the map.
You can almost immediately go anywhere right away giving you freedom to make your own story.
This is a long game from what I can tell. I'm over 40 hours in and haven't even uncovered a third of the map.
If you don't enjoy games that don't give you much direction this might not be for you. There's a lot of experimenting to learn different things and ways to progress in the game.
I may be a little biased because I've played and enjoyed nearly every zelda game. I've only not played skyward sword.

I love open world games and this really was the game for me. Never played a Zelda game before in my life but if you know the base of the Zelda and Link story then you’ll be fine. The graphics aren’t modern but more artistic which makes the game even better.

This is not your typical Zelda game.
It keeps a lot of the same patterns and tropes, but is much more open ended and explorative. In that way, it brings back many aspects of the first ever Zelda game.
Or, think of Ocarina of Time crossed with Skyrim.
I LOVE it, even if it's not the style I remember.

Very enjoyable gameplay, lots of variety in things you can do. My only wish is that there was actual voicing for more of the dialog. I love the fact that you can go pretty much anywhere, as long as you have the stamina, and that there are multiple solutions to many of the problems you encounter.

This takes open world gaming to a new level! go wherever you want. Complete the game in any order you want. Hidden items and side quests galore. Some new enemies and lots or returning ones. Awesome graphics and sound. If you're a Zelda fan this game is the best ever by far! I'm not sure the next one will be able to top it.

Probably the best video game I have played in a long time! Love all the Zelda games and this one really gathers everything in about the series - so much to do and and explore and challenging at the same time with the puzzles and gameplay.

This, along with Mario Odyssey, are must buys for any switch owner.
The story, mythology and level of detail were impressive.
Wish it never ended. Altho, there's plenty of side things/collectibles even after the game ends. On top of that, they released some good DLC w/ a new mode/difficulty level

the game is amazing, the way everything works together and can interact together are absurd. its unlike other zelda games in that the solution to any puzzle or problem is only limited by your imagination you can do things however you like not just the way the game intends.
i will say the game is pretty easy past a certain point and i wish there were larger dungeons but other then that (and the lack of actual fishing) i have no complaints. the game play, controls, story, items, abilities etc are all awesome and interact in logical realistic ways that you wouldn't expect. such as bomb arrows being useless in the rain (because the fuse goes out), but exploding instantly on death mountain due to the heat.
if you have a switch and don't have this game your missing out. i can't wait for the dlc to come out as hard mode and additional content sounds amazing.

I've enjoyed this Zelda game more than any other I've played (was never able to finish Skyward Sword). It is a fresh breath of air for the open-world genre which has become an uninspired marketing term these days.
No game has ever made me enjoy exploration as much as this one. This game will never stop surprising you.

Breath of the Wild is one of the best open world games I've ever played. Nintendo has nailed the sense of wonder and discovery, and I continue to discover new things that bring a smile to my face. I was already ready to buy a Switch, but this game solidifies that purchase and I look forward to future games on the system!

Easily one of the best Zelda games ever, the exploration and world building is better than any other game in the series, bar none.
The only negligible problem would be weapon durability, but you're given an abundance of weapons to counter this problem.

Man, I don't even know where to start. 100+ hours in this game and I still haven't beat the main quest. Not because I can't or and trudging through the story... but because there's just so much to do and see in this game that I keep putting off doing the main stuff. I don't even think about it, I'm always discovering new things on my way to the next new thing. It's truly something wonderful.

No matter what Zelda game you have enjoyed in the past, this one has something for everyone AND brings in that new generation of gamers with its open world concept not present since The Legend of Zelda on the NES. Do yourself a favor and get this game at the cheap price of $46 or whatever it is right now.
