A return to the immersive simulation

This game reminds us why immersive sims can be so fun and engaging. Telling your own tale through gameplay rather than hallways and restricted "choices" that have little impactful meaning in the end is a refreshing change. Like the legendary Thief and System Shock games before it, Prey reinvigorates the feeling of becoming involved and immersed in the game world behind the eyes of your character, figuring out where and how to do your objectives, and providing interesting short stories of how you progressed through its game world. I would highly recommend this to fans of the original BioShock, as well as System Shock, Deus Ex, and Thief as mentioned before.

Prey is a survival horror, first person shooter game with some rpg elements that, for me, falls somewhere between Alien Isolation and Bio Shock. The plot and narrative are pretty linear, but getting out of situations has a multitude of methods. You can try to run and gun, hide/sneak, set up traps and so on. If you are familiar with the flexibility in solving missions in games like Deus Ex, then you'll be familiar with this playing style. The game is good and I could see a sequel being even stronger. It's interesting to see how they could come up with this from the original Prey on the Xbox 360.

I've been playing this game for about a week now. Nice environments. Controls work nicely but I do kinda miss a standard aim and shoot control pattern, you can aim but it's more geared toward a hip fire style, took a little getting used to. Skill customization allows you to tweak to your play style. Cool concept, story so far is a nice slowly unfolding "Who am I? How did I get here? What do I do now?" mystery. You get to make choices along the way of what kind of person you want to be. It's got nice "jump value" for a regular gamer, the more skittish players will probably get a shriek in here and there. I'm enjoying it.

Prey is a first person shooter video game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The choices you choose does alter some of the game play. It is an enjoyable game that will give you your monies worth in play time. In Prey, the player controls Morgan Yu while exploring the space station Talos I, in orbit around Earth–Moon L2, where research into a hostile alien collective called the Typhon is performed. As the Typhon escape confinement, the player uses a variety of weapons and abilities derived from the Typhon to avoid being killed by the aliens while looking to escape the station

Bioshock was my favorite game when I first played it back in 2008 (PS3 port, I'm aware it launched originally back in 2007) Solid shooter, riveting story, and amazing atmosphere. Prey delivers all of this in spades. Unlike Bioshock the combat is a little lacking and using the Gloo gun against mimics showcases this. As the player character you feel sluggish and swinging the wrench around feels slow as well. Playing on PS4 Pro and I don't see any noticeable improvements visually over the base PS4. For folks who loved the Bioshock franchise and System Shock before that, this game is a must own.

At first, it felt like bioshock to me. Which I love the bioshock games. But, after awhile the game play felted a bit boring. Perhaps it lack more to the story of what is happening? Still, rather a good game. Choose to stay more human or inject your self with alien abilities. To kill what humans are alive or not. There is usually more than one way to enter an area if you can find it. And having the alien abilities will help with this. Weapons are upgradable as well as your abilities to aid you on your journey. Graphics are good and control setup is OK.

I enjoyed the latest two Deus Ex games and immediately saw parallels when playing this game. The inventory management is very similar, as is the game play. The game emphasizes stealth, where ammo is very limited in supply. There's also a "0451" passcode early in the game as well. Yes this game has some Deus Ex parallels, however the atmosphere in the game is very tense. If you love games focusing on single player exploration, make sure to give this game a try. Ignore the reviews which admonished the game for late save-state breaking bugs, the developer will patch those out in due course.

When Prey was released in May, the reviews were not overly kind. I bought it anyways, because I like to take chances. I'm glad I did! 81 hours later, I completed my journey aboard Talos 1, and what a journey it was! Alien lifeforms known as the Typhon have breached containment aboard the space station, and they can mimic anything in the game, from toilet paper to office chairs. You may think you're alone in a room, and then turn around to discover that that coffee cup is actually an alien that wants to eat your face. Very tense and exciting, and very underrated.

This game is fun however it took almost an hour before the game really got started it is pretty slow in the beginning because of the storyline but it is worth it I bought the strategy guide to go with this and I highly recommend it because there are a lot of things going on and it's easy to miss special pickups but game is fun once it got started definitely recommend renting if you get bored easy because of the slow start he just have to bear with it and keep going until the game gets started

Prey offers a rich world to explore with a unique narrative that requires the player to read the emails, books, and other documents strewn about the world in order to fully appreciate the game world. The game is slow moving in the beginning and combat is difficult so take your time and get accustomed to mechanics before you go trying to take out the bigger enemies. The gloo gun is essential to navigation and don't be shy about building bridges or ladders to reach higher areas. Use the wrench and level it up! Stick with this one and you'll have a rewarding experience.

The team who developed Dishonored made this. It's a wonderful romp in 1st person through a retro-future space station. You can make choices along the way which affect certain outcomes. You find unique weapons, one being a very fun glue gun (give it a chance) that can be used in interesting ways. The enemies are unique in that they are mimics, which are creatures that disguise themselves as ordinary objects, which as you can imagine, makes for some jump scares. There are early plot twists that really ramp up the story. It's a great ride.

Reminiscent of BioShock in the best possible ways, Prey takes the players through a visually stunning space civilization to try and stop an alien enemy from taking over the planet. With plenty to do and explore and a plot that twists and turns all throughout, the game will have players expanding their powers through the use of skill trees and an array of weapons and tools at their disposal. The only issues are that loading times can be very long and the ending felt rushed. Worth buying nevertheless just for the journey.

I bought this game because it was getting pretty good critic reviews but, for the life of me, I am not sure why. The story is very cool and intriguing and that is the only thing that kept me playing to the very end. However, moving around on the space station becomes tedious at some point. Also, I switched to playing on "easy" mode because I was getting frustrated with frequently dying. This did very little to actually reduce the difficulty. I still found myself dying frequently, even when facing "easy" enemies.

I haven't gotten too far in this one yet, but Bethesda has gone above and beyond with the story structure, the character design and the overall creepiness of the game. It's not as good as their latest attempt with the Doom franchise, but it's pretty close. It's taking me a little while to get the hang of the controls after playing Borderlands before this one but it was definitely worth it, especially since it was on sale and I have the Gamer Membership and it got the game guide and a steelbook case for it.

This game is great but has its flaws. I adored the story and the castlevania style exploration. The combat is shoddy, and while the game is supposed to be challenging, sometimes the scarcity of resources is game breaking, especially if you're trying to explore or just see the story. Easy mode doesn't alleviate this. I have friends who stopped playing because of this, but I did push through and seriously can't wait for the extra content they're currently teasing!

The graphics on this game are good. The gameplay is sharp and engaging. The only part I can see a slight issue with the game is that it seems a bit lifeless, though that may be intended because of the story. Overall the entertainment calue is very high for this game as it is not just a shoot everything game. This game allows you to use thought when proceeding in rooms and such as there are many things that can happen. I got this game on salle and for the price it was great.

I had high hopes for this game not because of the property (which in all honesty, wasn't that great a game), but because of the developer's pedigree. Prey is far more deliberate in its pacing and nuanced in its execution than similar games in this genre, which is both good and bad. Enemy design is not all that interesting and the game play lacks the visceral punch of a game like Doom. Worth a play through, but you won't find yourself returning to it once the story is complete.

Generally i love everything Bethesda puts out and i had high hopes for Prey. The commercials hyped it up and made it resemble a Dead Space/Bioshock type game but it was nothing of the sort. The graphics were just ok and i only played it for about 3 hours and couldn't handle the boredom anymore. Find this, find that. Search, search, search. It sucks i couldn't return it so i just traded it back the same day i bought it. Rent it first or at least play the demo. I wish i did.

Really loving this game. Very tense, hard at times but not too hard. Almost every problem can solved in any number of ways depending on your spec. New safes or even areas open up if your Hacking is high enough for example. You could play the whole game like a normal FPS, taking only the skills in first 3 trees, but all the interesting powers come when you get access to the alien powers. It's all optional, encouraging you to experiment with specs in future playthroughs.

This game is amazing. I have spent more hours than I care to admit playing it, and I'm still not close to beating it! The difficulty is high (even on easy), but it's never irritating. As a novice gamer, I appreciate that. If I have one complaint, it's that occasionally it's hard to figure out where you're going (especially when you're in space), which can lead to a bit more wandering around than I prefer, but it's a really fun game that I think anyone would enjoy.
