Interesting Sci Fi Atmospheric Survival Horror

Prey is a thrilling Sci Fi shooter that possesses some novel game mechanics and settings. In it, you play as a lone scientist on a space station orbiting Earth and you need to use anything you can to survive. There's looting, shooting, weapon crafting and hacking - this kind of game has been done before, but the game doesn't seem too derivative to me. If I could compare this to other games, it would be like a combination of Bioshock and Deus Ex. The thing is, Prey is aware that it's not the first game to do this and it does give credit where credit is due - there are references to other games and it's easy to settle in with the controls and immerse yourself into the gorgeous atmosphere. Just remember, everything isn't it what it seems - that lamp in the corner of the room you just entered could be an enemy... I will admit that I haven't beaten the game, and I intend to spend my time playing this game and not rushing through - I don't know how long the campaign really is, but it seems like a 40 plus hour game. For the price, this isn't a bad single player RPG shooter to try out, there's alot to like about it. I wouldn't play is one in the dark though.

I love scrounging for good cheap games. @ eight bucks I thought Prey was worth the risk after reading a couple of reviews. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth. This is a first person shooter /survival game. It reminds me of Half-Life, a really good game that is probably older than many of you out there. Prey is a science fiction game with a pretty good story involving dangerous aliens, family betrayal, and time manipulation. It is a slower paced game with many clues and keys to track down in order to unravel the mystery of what happened to your characters memory and figure out why almost everyone on the Talos 1 space station is dead. It seems like a long game, as I’ve played over 20 hours and I don’t feel like I am even close to the end. The graphics & sound are well done. The controls and inventory management are a bit cumbersome, but do not detract from the overall experience. A good game.

It is amazing the level of details put on this game. If you love a great sci-fi there is a big chance you will like this game. I'm not finished yet, I'm 12 hours in and really taking my time to explore and understand what happened on that place. I find the gameplay fun and quite challenging, you have to think really well where you're going to spend your neuromod abilities. my only complain is the long load times....

I would have bought it sooner had I known how fun it would be. I played it hard core for a week and a half and never got bored. The graphics are excellent and it has a really good story line that ends on with a few different scenarios, depending on your actions. Also, it has 4 different play settings. Story mode, normal, hard, and Survival mode. I 100% recommend this game.

I love this game. I'm an explorer, so I love the open world sandbox games where you can spend hours checking every nook and cranny for loot and secrets. This is also definitely up your alley if you enjoyed Bioshock, like sci-fi, and suspense. You don't have to explore everything, either, if you get impatient. There's multiple options for everything and also multiple endings. A solid investment.

    Spiritual Successor to Half Life

If you're like me, and you've been waiting for word of Half 2 Chapter 3 (or Half Life 3, or really Half Life ANYTHING), you've probably given up hope. While we may never see another installment in the series from Valve, Bethesda has done the next best thing by delivering Prey. That is not to say that this is a clone of Half Life - far from. But it delivers much the same atmosphere, and admittedly a similar premise. Something goes wrong during a scientific experiment, and all heck (really Best Buy, I have to say 'heck'?) breaks loose. The game-play can, at times, be nerve wracking (in a good way) much like Half Life could be. DO NOT try to treat this like a COD-style shooter - you will die. A lot. But if you liked Half Life you will enjoy Prey.

This is a great Sci-Fi fps game. Love the atmosphere and I dig the weapons. This game did not sell well and you can pick it up pretty cheap. It is also on game pass. Definitely worth a play through. If you enjoy games like Dead Space and Lost Planet, you will enjoy this.

    Good, but Repetitive

This shooter does a great job of mixing shooter elements with horror elements. The atmosphere is rich and the story is quite good. The true downside is the repetition of enemy's and the ways to get rid of them. Plus, you can never drop your guard. Always gotta play the game at a snails pace or you will die.

Overall it is an amazing game with a great story. However at points it seems to be overly difficult. I absolutely loved the game while playing it and played it every day until I beat it. After completing it however I have not found myself interested in playing it again.

I usually don't like first person shooters, but after playing Titanfall 2 (another good game) I've been giving them a chance. Prey is excellent. You're all alone and you must solve the mystery of what happened to you and everybody on this station. Excellent graphics and some scary moments help make the whole experience a great time.

This game was handled by the developers of the Dishonored series. Great choice. Has its feel, but its on way. The game has plenty of scares, excellent array of weapons at your disposal. Good graphics and well-paced. Bethesda done this game justice. Definitely worth buying.

Prey is, in my opinion, severely underrated. It has some issues to be sure (it's far too long and repetitive in some ways). But it's atmosphere and gameplay will keep you chugging along to unravel the mysteries of Talos 1. I enjoyed it a lot.

Prey is a very good horror/action game. The horror isn't like Evil Within 2 but it has good jump scares.

Great RPG for Fans of System Shock

This game is awesome BUT it is not for casuals! If you're a fan of the old PC games, System Shock and System Shock 2, or want to play a game that's like a more challenging Bioshock, this is for you. Especially in the beginning of the game you are very squishy (you can only take a few hits before dying) compared to most modern games, so if you're looking for a game to mindlessly enjoy you might want to look somewhere else. But if you want a challenging game that makes you strategize, plan, and play methodically, then this is right up your alley.

Was a little hesitant about getting this because of no multiplayer, but the single player story is great. Very intense and some good jump scares. The mechanics are spot on and it just plays great. The included steel book is a nice bonus.
