Nice NAS device. I've not been a Linux-type person so, I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to setup. I wish there were some wizards to guide a person through some basic setup scenarios. Can be a little noisy when the unit wakes up and starts to (do whatever) to the drives. I also have a Windows Server-based NAS that is much quieter. But, overall, I nice device.

Great little NAS. I have used Qnap before so integrating into my environment was easy. Management is simple

This was somewhat difficult to set up properly, but works great.

    Incredible Frustration

Well, I've finally given in. I'm selling my QNAP unit amongst an incredible amount of solid frustration. I upgraded the RAM in my unit immediately and tossed in two 6TB hard drives to use as network storage. I had the intention of using it as a Plex server. The initial setup went fine, I set up one HD to automatically copy to the other. Everything worked...until it didn't. After about a week, the unit would just disappear from my network. QFinder Pro, the program used to access the NAS wouldn't find it, and I'd have to restart. It did this daily. Software resets, customer support, nothing changed it. So we'd just keep it off until we needed to use it, which wasn't convenient or the original point of it. After a while, we started getting tired of this, and I decided to just transfer all of the information to a different external hard drive. Turns out when you try to transfer large amounts of information, the unit will sometimes just error out. So I had to start transferring one small folder at a time. Tedious, but fine. Today I woke up, and I cannot even connect to the NAS. The drives come up as 'unmounted'. I am resetting the unit so that I can access my stuff, I'm transferring everything off of it (which will take days, I'm sure, since I cannot trust the unit to stay connected to my network long enough to do longer transfers), and I'm selling it. I cannot stand this product and I can't wait to be rid of this headache. I will never buy another QNAP unit again.
