Effective and portable…with a few caveats

To be honest, I had no idea UV was an effective disinfectant and sanitizer before using this vacuum. That said, I love the inclusion here, adding to what I think is already a good vacuum…with a few issues.
The vacuum is built well and should stand up over time. As for the design, this is a mixed bag for me. I appreciate the “fuller size” front, in theory giving you more surface area to pull in debris, and the roll brush, but the shape is a bit odd, and there is a “little” heft there. It is a little difficult getting into any kind of corners or other odd shaped spaces. My main use case was my bed and pillows, but I hit some furniture as well. It excelled at the former but was a bit more difficult and less effective with the latter for me. That said, I do think the vacuum performs well overall. There is no doubt the suction is there, I do like the filtering and UV aspects, and I think the cord is a good length for most use cases. I just wonder if a shape change can make it better? Maybe, add some attachments?
My only other small quibble is with the size of the filter and dust catch. They are easy to access, which is fantastic, but they are relatively small, I would say, given the size of the vacuum. I understand this is not meant to be doing all your floors etc… and you really should be emptying and cleaning them often, but I just with they were slightly larger. It would just add a slight bit of convenience when time is an issue.
Despite my few nitpicks, I do like this machine. It does make the task of vacuuming non-traditional spots easier; it has absolutely worked in my space, and I have to think I am better for it. I think most people would as well, just be ready for everything this thing pulls up.

works well, easy to use

This Raycom vacuum serves two purposes. First, it’s a simple vacuum cleaner. Second, it’s supposed to kill and vacuum up unseen allergens like dust mites, which are too small to see easily with the naked eye. The first is easy to evaluate, but the second is not.
The vacuum couldn’t be easier to use. There are only two items in the box, the vacuum itself and the instruction booklet. There are no attachments or anything like that. Everything the vacuum comes with in terms of filters and so forth are already attached to the machine. It’s a matter of seconds to plug it in and start vacuuming.
One of its strengths is supposed to be vacuuming up pet hair. We have two cats who sleep everywhere and who shed plenty of hair. On the sofas on which they sleep, this vacuum does a good job of removing their hair as well as lint and anything else. It’s easy to see how much hair is removed as it collects in the filter which can be seen through transparent plastic. When full of hair, it is a simple matter to open the filter trap and clean it out.
The vacuum also has UV lights that are aimed at the surface being cleaned with the idea that this light kills dust mites and other allergens. The instructions say to move the vacuum over surfaces much as you would an electric iron—not too fast and with long, smooth strokes. It is not possible to evaluate the efficacy of the vacuum in removing dust mites because they can’t be seen. But they do contribute to allergic reactions, so, over time, if the vacuum is effective in this regard, and if you suffer from sniffles and sneezes when asleep or simply resting on the sofa, you should notice a decrease in these symptoms. Only time will tell how effective it is in this regard.
But as simply a vacuum cleaner, this device is very handy for cleaning non-floor surfaces. It’s small, lightweight, and easy to manipulate. It has a lengthy (over 15 feet) cord, which means that you can cover a lot of ground between episodes of moving the cord from outlet to outlet. As a vacuum cleaner alone, this device’s size and convenience make it worth the cost. The added benefit of cleaning out allergens is a bonus.

A Curious And Well-Designed Concept

RAYCOP's handheld allergen vacuum is a device that is designed to be used sort of like a large and oddly shaped iron on surfaces like beds and upholstery - except instead of removing wrinkles from fabrics, it removes dust mite debris and other physical allergens and exposes the fabric surfaces to strong enough UV light to reduce the amount of bacteria and viruses present.
It is very simple to use - you press a button to turn it on, then you slowly move it back and forth over areas of fabric that might be holding allergens.
The vacuum action is quite strong and is assisted by a pulsating beater-bar type brush. Debris is collected in a small dust box with a fine filter - you can see the amount of collected debris from the top of the vacuum. Air is then filtered through a small HEPA filter before being channeled out the sides of the vacuum. The path of suction (about 6.5" wide) is then exposed to a germicidal 8 watt UV-C light. Note: the UV light cycles off when the vacuum is not travelling along a surface as a safety feature to prevent exposure to skin and eyes.
The debris collection chamber and filter, the pulsating brush, the HEPA filter, and the UV lamp (and protective tube) are easy to remove and clean or replace.
Because it is light and moves easily across the surfaces of fabrics, it doesn't feel like it is doing much work. Before trying this out on my old mattress, I aggressively used a standard vacuum first. What the RAYCOP vacuum was able to extract behind that initial vacuum was staggering (and kind of disturbing). There is no doubt that this vacuum is well tailored to extracting physical allergens from the fabrics closest to your respiratory tract (and, again, it's really going for dust mites here). People with severe allergies might still require additional interventions, but this little tool is a gem.
Enthusiastically recommended.

This Raycop vacuum is especially designed to trap and remove allergens, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, etc. and it sure seems to do just that.
It’s unlike any handheld vacuum I’ve ever seen. It looks more like a science fiction spaceship, but it’s that flat shape which makes it so easy to use. It works best on a long flat surface, like a bed, which is perfect because that’s where most of your problems with dust mites would be. You use it just like an iron, It’s easy to maneuver. Just glide over your bed’s surface, the UV light turns on which is supposed to kill viruses and their DNA. I can’t comment on its effectiveness with viruses, but I sure can talk about its cleaning efficiency. Even after putting on fresh bedding, the Raycop finds and removes an amazing amount of dust from sheets and blankets. I feel good with that dust gone from my pillows, realizing without the cleaner I’d be sleeping on it.
It has a feature I like called “Air Redirect Technology” which allows it to glide over your sheets and blankets without the cleaner sucking up the fabric. I don’t know how they do it, but the vacuum sure removes the dust and any pet hair. It’s not cordless (I guess it needs full voltage for the UV light) but the cord is very long, so there shouldn’t be lots of plugging and unplugging required
As far as any “cons” are concerned. With its flat shape the cleaner is best on longer flat surfaces such as beds and sofas. It’s a little more unwieldly on most chairs, as its flat shape makes it more difficult to maneuver around smaller surfaces and also the UV light turns off when the cleaner is not making total contact on a surface (probably as a safety feature) so cleaning and disinfecting a small chair is not as easy. Also the reusable filter is small, so that you’ll be cleaning it often, and the instructions suggest cleaning under water and since the filter must then be completely dry before putting back in the vacuum, you won’t be able to do continuous cleaning for any length of time without stopping and letting the filter dry.
Bottom line though, this cleaner is unique in its shape and purpose, removing allergens and disinfecting surfaces around your home, and it seems to do it well. I’m very happy with my Raycop cleaner.

Works well. Filter needs frequent cleaning.

Pro:
- Picks up fine dust and hair well
- UV sanitizing light
Cons:
- Dust filter clogs fast and requires frequent cleaning
- Works best on flat surfaces
The idea of the vacuum is to use its UV light to sanitize as it picks up all the small particles. It’s bigger than expected, about a foot wide. The UV light comes on when it makes contact with a surface. The UV tube will need to be removed and cleaned overtime to keep it effective. I can’t tell how well the light actually works, but in theory it should reduce allergens from surfaces.
Using the vacuum to remove pet hair and dust from bedding, it does a good job picking them up along with any lint and fine particles. In order to push it smoothly however, I need to always keep the sheet taut, which is harder to do on non flat surfaces.
The dust filter is small and gets clogged with hair and lint pretty quickly requiring frequent cleaning. The filter, which is inside clear plastic, is easy to remove and clean. There’s another air filter on the bottom. The manual says that a reset is needed when changing it.
Overall it does what it’s supposed to. It’s a bit big but it does a good job of picking up pet hair and dust on my bed.

I am a sufferer of allergies. I have tried so many different things - and I know I will always have this issue for the rest of my life. I am lucky enough tot say that I found things that have cut down on the things that make my allergies so very terrible. I have to say that this vacuum has seemed to help. I assume it is because I allow my dog to sleep in bed with is and the pet dander has to be terrible along with the dust mites.
This vacuum is lightweight and easy to move around the bed and other furniture. I have mostly used this in the bedroom because I know that is the room that I have the most issues in. I have an air purifier and with the addition on this - I really do feel like it is making a difference.
The technology from this vacuum says it kills dust mites, viruses and bacteria from a UV light. I can't verify whether it does that or not. The pulsating brush does help bring up and loosen the dust and gross stuff trapped in the fabrics. It is amazing what else this brings up even after your bedding had been washed just 1-2 days before you use it. The filter is proof that there is still stuff in there.
This is a really easy product to use and I have already seen an improvement in my allergies from using it for 2 weeks. I would recommend.

If you’re looking for a vacuum to use on your mattress, pillows, couch, recliner or maybe a runner area rug; this is it. If you are trying to use this product to vacuum your entire house, it will work but, I wouldn’t recommend it.
The Raycop is a good little vacuum with the added plus of a UV light to help get rid of allergens. I’ve used it on my mattress, pillows, couch and recliner. Biggest thing I’ve noticed is that after using it on the mattress and pillows, I’ve definitely had a better nights sleep and almost zero congestion when I woke up in the morning.
The Raycop is a bit heavy but not unbearable, suction is good, cleaning the dirt trap is easy enough however, to thoroughly clean the filter you need to rinse it and allow time to dry. When operating, it is about as loud as a cordless vacuum. Ergonomics aren’t bad either, Raycop did a good job trying to balance out the vacuum.
Overall, I’m satisfied with it, it does help with allergens and is a good product to have in your home, especially if you have kids and pets.

Great vac with UV

This was a great vac. My biggest objection to it was it’s size and weight. But with a short amount of use, I quickly got over it.
Using around the house such as on fabric couches or bed sheets/comforters is a simple task. Just be aware that the storage receptacle is a little small. If you use it in a high traffic area such as a couch where a small furry friend who sheds a lot likes to rest. You may find yourself having to empty the container between cleanings. UV is automatic with this vac. There are no other buttons to press aside from power located on the handle. I will add that if using the vac around the rounded corners of a seat cushion or armrest, The UV often times doesn’t come on. I’ve come to realize that in those cases seating it perfectly centered and firmly pressed against the surface sometimes activates the UV light.

I really, really wanted to love this little handheld vacuum. I really did.
As a corded handheld vacuum it's dandy. It does the job just fine. My problem is the length of the cord. Here's a spoiler, it's not as long as it should be. This means that if one has a lot of furniture with fabric covers AND a long haired cat that loves to shed in the summer AND the furniture is widely spaced out you'll be hunting for power plugs all over your space. Or looking for an extension cord.
The vacuum is not too heavy and the rotating brushes do a great job of lifting shedded fur off of furniture. Suction is about par for a vacuum in this price range. I'm not sold on the UaV lighting thing but if you're a believer in UV light sanitizing then you'll be a happy camper. It doesn't get too loud.
I'll stick with cordless vacuums though.

Best I've tried for pet hair

I've tried a lot of vacuums because we have several pets in our home that leave so much hair on the furniture that I have to wonder why they aren't bald, but when it comes to pet hair and upholstered furniture, most vacs leave a bit to be desired.
That's not the case with the Raycop UV+ vac! It's the perfect size as to not have to lug around a large vacuum and do some creative acrobatics to get it up on the couch/recliner, and it does the best job I've seen on removing pet hair and what I believe to be dander from our livingroom furniture.
As far as the UV rays that it uses to kill germs, well, I really can't speak to that so much - I have no way of seeing the germs so I'm taking this claim at face value. I do have to say though that the idea is rather innovative. We don't really have what I could consider a germy household, but if the claim is true, we'll have even less germs to deal with.

Interesting “Vacuum”…

I’m not entirely sure that the true purpose of the device is actually achieving its results. Because we really can’t see dust mites or other creatures that are invisible to the naked eye, it is impossible for me to tell if they are being terminated by the ultraviolet light that is emitted as you use the vacuum on your couches, mattress or carpet. Speaking of carpet, this is not for any large space such as a carpeted room; it is too small for that but, using it on the small areas you sit or sleep, it can definitely make a difference there. We have three dogs and I’m sure we have our fair share of mites or other things that could be eradicated by UV light so I am giving the device the benefit of the doubt by using it throughout the house and saying it is doing its job but, again, I really can’t confirm this.
All that said, when I use the vacuum on our family room couches, it does an okay job removing hair and other particles that have built up. There is a replaceable HEPA filter that will last approximately one year based on the company’s suggested regular use of 10 minutes per day but, the dust box that captures the hair and other particles, is relatively small but reusable after being cleaned as needed with dish soap as it becomes clogged from use.
As for the UV aspect of the device, it only works when it is laid flat and pushed and pulled over surfaces without lifting the back or front end of the device. This is to ensure the safety of the user and others that may be around while in use and to help the UV light do it’s job as best it can. Knowing how well a UV light can in fact disinfect a surface, device or area, I have to believe the Raycop is doing a good job at cleaning up my couches and mattresses and helping to keep me and my family safer and more allergen free. I’d recommend you giving this a shot and judging for yourself. At this point, I do recommend this to others to give it a try and judge for yourself.

This vacuum brought my couch cushions back to life. I use my floor vacuum attachments usually and thought it cleaned well, but after using this raycop vac, it is quite a noticeable difference. It is easy to use, small and simple. I have used it to clean my bed every morning before I make it also. I love it. I suffer from allergies pretty badly and I must say I have not sneezed once from dust or debris while using this little guy. It really does work well. I also love the uv light feature. Those bacteria had no idea what was coming. Only thing that I don't like is the look. The white color with its funky shape is a bit weird to me. I'd like it better in black or something. Overall, it works well and I am happy with it,

I'll admit it, our mattresses are old. After reading about the mites and skin loss while sleeping and all that gross stuff, I decided to try this.
My mattress was in storage for 6 months so that was first. I was kind of shocked to see the dust cup fill. I did my two pillows and was amazed and oh so glad I got this! I did the rest of the beds in the house and all the pillows. I cleaned the dust cup, set it to dry and then did the furniture. Furniture was not bad. Now we have it part of the weekly routine when we change the sheets to vacuum the beds.
Extremely simple to use and clean, quiet with a long cord, not heavy and easy to store.

The Raycop is a nice handheld vacuum for cleaning up pet hair and dust mites. Setup is easy and intuitive. It comes with a long chord that will allow you to clean any bed, sofa, or chair in most rooms. The ultraviolet light helps get rid of dust mites. Since dust mites can’t be seen with the naked eye I can’t confirm how well of a job it’s doing. The brushes are somewhat recessed. With this setup I’ve noticed that it’s easy to vacuum bed sheets and sofas made of fabric material. It doesn’t snag material like other vacuums that have brushes. Overall, it’s a nice handheld vacuum for what it claims to accomplish.

Decent size for a handheld. It’s a bit wide for the armrests since the light won’t turn on unless it’s completely covered. That being said, it covers a lot of space on the main surface quickly. It is a reasonable weight, although the balance is a little off giving a sense of pulling forward. Didn’t notice a big difference between this and a regular handheld vacuum. Not very effective for pet hair.

simple vacuum, small dust container

This is a very simple vacuum. No attachment or anything else in the box. Just the vacuum itself.
Use: Plug it in, and press the button to turn it on. It has a brush roll and a bagless dust container that collects what you are vacuuming. There is also a UV light that turns on when in contact with a surface to disinfect. Problem is, on dark surfaces it doesn't turn on. The instructions do say this, but my couch that I mainly use it on is a dark grey, and the UV light won't turn on, so its basically just a small vacuum with a long cord.
Overall: Small dust bin, that doesn't really hold much. It seems like there is room where they could have made a larger bin. The sensors are sensitive for turning on/off the UV light, so it is only on about half the time, really defeating the purpose of the UV light and this vacuum in general. Plugging it in gets annoying, and there are many other options that work as well that are cordless.

This unit is well built and looks great! The unit is light and very easy to use. We have dogs and didn't know how much hair that you wouldn't normally see on your bed or pillow that showed up in the vacuum canister when you empty it. Haven't had this very long but I think it is going to help in the long run if we keep actively using the vacuum. The key is to keep what you are vacuuming to be flat and not bumpy. If you are looking for an allergen vacuum I would recommend getting this one.

I was hopeful this vaccine would be better at cleaning my dogs fur off my sofa & chairs than my attachments on my current vacuum but it’s not. It does an ok job but not great. Being handheld is nice but it’s shape doesn’t allow to vacuum in deep corners where a lot of my dog fur tends to gravitate to. Having to get out a spectate unit to clean doesn’t appeal to me unless it makes a huge difference and unfortunately this product does not.

PROS:
* Eliminate and mitigate dust mites, related, and similar allergens.
* Clever design including a brush and a UV sterilization lamp.
* Filter module is easy to remove.
* Heavy-duty power cord resistant to wear (?)
CONS:
* Size. This thing is actually much larger than I think it needs to be. What do I know?
* Heft. The size of this thing means that it is also accordingly quite heavy considering the motions intended for the device.
* Cord. While the cord is likely required due to the UV lamp, it is heavy and possibly not long enough for some applications.
* UV lamp. I'm not sure, so I'm speaking more out loud... but could UV LEDs (used in aquaria for example) provide similar function to actual lamp bulb? I don't know. I expect the answer is no and that is why this lamp was selected.
* Frequency. The product guide recommends the use of the sterilizer at least on a weekly basis, or more frequently if possible. We change sheets weekly. The heft of the unit makes this an unattractive chore.
* Power LED. The "standby" color is RED. While that is typically standard on TVs and such, for the vacuum, I thought it would mean something bad. Similar cleaning devices of mine use gentle pulsing blues, generally. Not really a huge issue, but I think a weird miss. When I first plugged it in I had to immediately reference the manual again to confirm what I saw.
USE:
I used this on my pillows and bed sheets every other day or so. The size of the device is a bit unwieldy and I'm not sure if extended use of this device will prove practical over time. However, I quite like the concept of removing dust mites, their waste, and other allergens along with the sterilization feature of the UV lamp. If anything, this might be relegated to the guest bedroom.
Version 1.0 is a great concept. I think this device requires additional refinement.
