Stylish and full of options
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Headphones and headsets are a dime a dozen these days, with manufacturers putting out all sizes and shapes with a variety of tech features in every category. The competition remains particularly hot in gaming headsets, with a focus on not only sound quality, but gamer-specific features like audio latency and source mix adjustments. Razer -- probably the most well-known gaming accessory manufacturer -- is out with their latest high-end entry, the BlackShark V3 Pro (and this Xbox-specific version). The headline features here include active noise cancellation, as well as their latest wireless connection standard, what Razer calls HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2. Razer also promises new and improved audio drivers, a better mic and custom sound profiles for specific games. Unboxing is a quick and simple affair, with high-quality packaging materials and next-to-no plastic. The box includes the headphones, their detachable mic, a USB-C to 3.5mm cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and the HyperSpeed Gen-2 dongle. I was impressed with the packaging efficiency, simplicity and recyclability. Pro tip: if you have trouble finding them, the user guide and stickers are tucked in the top edge of the molded insert holding the headset. The BlackShark V3 Pro headset itself is relatively minimal, but the sense of quality is immediate. Solid, matte plastic with metal accents, a burled volume knob and Xbox green stitching on the headband is classy, but understated. The included cords are nice braided affairs, and the mic and wireless dongle all match the headset quality. I'm intrigued by the interchangeable magnetic plates on each ear cup, which should allow for some awesome customizability. Hopefully Razer continues expanding the available designs (or maybe comes up with a DIY option?). With multiple connection options to multiple devices, both wired and wireless, setup was a bit more complex than I anticipated. I started with a bluetooth connection to my phone, which involved putting the headset in pairing mode. I couldn't figure this out without the instructions, but once entered the BlackShark V3 Pro paired quickly. The free Razer Audio app allows you to customize most aspects of the headset, as well as switch modes and sound profiles. Once connected it was easy to stream music and take phone calls like any normal Bluetooth headset can do. Connecting to the Xbox took me a few tries. Plugging in the dongle with the included cable is easy, but I couldn't get the BlackShark to switch to HyperSpeed mode and connect despite following the directions exactly. I was, however, on a phone call with a friend over bluetooth, and as soon as I hung up that call I was able to switch modes and connect successfully. I also downloaded Razer's Xbox sound app, which offers about the same amount of control as their mobile app. The Xbox app informed me there was a firmware update available, but could not actually install the update. Turns out, you'll need a PC for this. Updating involves downloading Razer's firmware update package, which will have you first connect the HyperSpeed dongle and then the headset via USB for updating. It took two tries, but eventually both devices were successfully updated. This was definitely a clunkier process than expected, but as it's my first headset with a proprietary wireless dongle, I don't have a good point of comparison. It does seem strange that one of the apps couldn't make the update, however. The firmware package prompted me to install Razer Synapse on my PC, which offers the deepest control over the BlackShark V3 Pro, regardless of this being the Xbox-specific version. Synapse lets you customize the order of some selections when cycling through options using headset buttons, as well as access to/selection of custom game sound profiles, such as for Call of Duty. Additionally, included sound modes offer a graphic equalizer that you can customize to your liking and save. In my use, I found the default profile fine for most things, and the game profile useful when playing my longtime favorite, Grand Theft Auto III. Once updated and successfully connected I set out to get a good headset fit. After a few hours of use I can say the BlackShark weight is very well-distributed, and the headband padding is quite comfortable. The ear cup padding is nice as well, and I appreciate that it's not shiny pleather that gets sweaty after only a few minutes. My chief complaint is the clamping force, which I find a little high, but I have yet to find a pair of 'phones that don't annoy me in this area. All over-ear headphones I've used tend to make the space behind and below my ears sore after a short time, but this is highly personal and YMMV. I don't love the adjustment mechanism Razer used here, either, as it involves two thin metal posts on each ear cup rather than one sliding element per side. The headset stays where you adjust it, but there are no lines or detents to help you achieve an even fit or remember your adjustments after storage. I do appreciate the amount of rotation and flexibility provided tho, and I'm guessing most folks will find a good fit easily. That good fit will help you get the best seal for the ANC, which is very effective in typical home use. My AC unit, right next to the TV, is easily rendered silent, and keyboard taps (and cat meows) are significantly reduced in volume. I'm thankful Razer gives you four levels of ANC to choose from, as the highest level does produce some of the "eardrum suck" common to most ANC devices. I went down to level 3 and find plenty of noise cancellation with a more comfortable listening experience. Whether listening to music, taking a phone call or playing a game, the BlackShark V3 Pro delivers a good audio experience. After some trial and error, I decided to keep the set on the default sound setting for all activities, and I've been satisfied with the sound reproduction. Voices are clear on calls and in songs, and the soundstage for music is pretty balanced and easy to listen to for long periods. These are gaming 'phones, though, and at that they excel. Enable surround sound effects and I think you'll be very pleased with their performance. I'm used to gaming with a soundbar that does a pretty good surround sound impression, but there's nothing like actual headphones giving you pinpoint precise audio. Razer isn't kidding about latency, either, with the HyperSpeed Gen 2 connection producing no noticeable latency for me. GTA III really comes alive in surround sound, with voices clear and at the front and sound effects emanating from the appropriate corners of the screen. It's easy to get lost in the action and forget there's anything going on around you. What's more, with the BlackShark's simultaneous audio mode, you can chat on a phone call and game at the same time, with both audio streams reaching your ears. I had a bit of trouble adjusting the balance at first, but after using the phone app and Xbox volume controls on-screen I found a good balance and had a nice time gaming while keeping my phone conversation going. When in gaming mode alone, you can use the roller dial to adjust sound effect/voice balance, and the large knob to change overall volume easily. My friend on the phone reported my voice as clear and easily heard, if a bit muffled. Razer helpfully includes multiple mic modes to experiment with as well, and the mic physically adjusts easily and holds position just fine. I'll be honest, the headset's physical controls are almost too plentiful, with a bit of learning curve to all the buttons and knobs, which do function slightly differently depending on how you're using the BlackShark V3 Pro. A few hours of use (with help guide nearby) should have you trained pretty well, though. Consistent with the build quality, the buttons and knobs feel great to use and are generally very responsive. In a world of touchscreen-everything, it's a joy to rely on physical buttons and knobs for a change. Overall, and for my first gaming-focused headset, I'm pleased with the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro. It's very well made, stylish without being garish, and includes every connection mode, button and dial you could ever want. Performance with the made for Xbox version is great, and I'd wager any gamer would be impressed with the lack of latency and level of control Razer has included here. Sound quality is good and very customizable, ANC works well, and I really appreciate how the Xbox version works great with mobile devices and PCs, wired and wireless, making this a good do-it-all option. My complaints are minor overall. I'd appreciate a simpler firmware update process, a lighter clamping force, and perhaps a touch simpler user interface. That said, I'll take customization and more buttons over limited options and fewer physical controls. For the price, the BlackShark V3 Pro is right at the top of the game, although I would have liked to see a case or bag included with the headset and accessories. That being said, Razer has put together a really good product, and it's an easy recommendation. Game on!

Comfy On The Ears & Built To Last
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer BlackShark V3 Pro gaming headset is a great option to enhance your gaming experience. These feel sturdy and made of quality pieces. They don't feel too heavy on your head and the memory foam is comfortable around your ears. The foam is breathable, I didn't have sweaty ears after extended wear. I like that the microphone is detachable for when you don't need to chat. I tried these on a lot of devices. These work great with the Xbox Series X using the 2.4 Ghz wireless adapter. The 3.5mm connector worked with the Nintendo Switch. The Bluetooth connected to my gaming laptop and cell phone. I didn't experience any noticeable latency. The surround sound and drivers sounded great during game play. Outside of gaming, I used them to listen to music, watch movies, and even take phone calls. My only real disappointments were in the noise cancellation and ambient mode. There is a noticeable change turning the noise cancellation on but I've had better in other headphones. The ambient mode isn't very good. It doesn't increase the volume of the surroundings very much. The microphone picks up a lot of your surroundings though and can be heard on the other end. I wish the microphone had some noise canceling of it's own. With such a nice pair of headphones I wish they came with a carrying case. Even just a cheap bag would be better than nothing. They have great battery life. I would 100% recommend these to any gamer if they are ok with the above issues. They sound great and are really comfortable.

Happy Gaming!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[PROS] A+ for Comfort and Design: The Blackshark V3 Pro feels very pleasant to wear. I didn't feel like my head was inside a vice grip. Furthermore, my ears never got sweaty through multiple gaming sessions. The headband and earcup material is very soft and gentle against the head as well. The metal frame securing the earcups is thin, but not flimsy which makes the V3 not as bulky as others within its bracket Great Microphone Quality: At first, I was let down by the voice clarity. However, a firmware update seemed to have fixed my issue. My voice went from low sounding and a bit muffled to more clear and pronounced. Also, the ANC did an excellent job blocking out external noise as I was gaming not far from sounds within the kitchen. Sound Assist: Honestly, game specific audio settings seemed gimmicky, but it did make a noticeable improvement in playing certain titles on my Series X. These specific EQ profiles did enable me to perceive footsteps and other environmental elements better than I would with other headsets. I would not say it makes a world of difference, but I can tell that much effort was put in this feature. Synapse: The app still feels somewhat heavy, but it was streamlined for the needs of configuring the headset. I'm able to get to the appropriate feature sections without confusion. Also, I'm able to preview adjustments such as mic enhancements on the fly. Other tidbits: Overall, they sound superb and didn't experience any audio latency. Battery life is superb, and I have yet needed to charge it. [CONS] Dongle Awkwardness: Since this is designed for the Series X, you need to attach it to the console through a cable. This makes it challenging for people who have their consoles mounted like me as you need a platform to rest the dongle. I did wish that it was more of a plug and play solution. [CONCLUSION] In conclusion, I think the BlackShark V3 Pro is an awesome headset for any gamer. The audio is great, and the mic projects the voice well to others. It does come with some extra benefits such as the enhanced EQ profiles and compatibility with all major gaming platforms. In my book, its a winner.

Super Comfortable, Extended Game Play, Great ANC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Razer Blackshark V3 Pro for Xbox for over a week now. It takes a lot for me to give a headset or anything 5 stars, but this a rare occasion when it's totally deserved. The Razer Blackshare has a great build quality, but is so so so comfortable to wear with good padding, great earcups and light weight. If you're after THE BEST wireless gaming headset for your Xbox, this is it. Breaking it down further, there are some great surprises. First, the Razer Blackshark is TRULY wireless for your Xbox. It ships with a dongle that connects via USB C to A to your Xbox, letting you pair the headset directly to your Xbox. Wow. Cool. Fast. Easy. Second, if you don't want to work that way, you can use a wired headphone connector straight to your Xbox controller (not sure why you would when it's built for wireless, but it's nice - tried it on my Steamdeck as a wired headset). What surprised me even more, is the Blackshark dongle has a switch so you can use this headset for PC Gaming. Great if you have a Gamepass subscription and you cross play between Xbox/PC. Thank you Razer for extending the usefulness! Voice audio quality is where this shines. At first, I was surprised by the size of the boom mic. But in voice chat, people were commenting how much better I sounded. Intrigued, I hooked the Razer to my PC and tested on Discord and it's incredible. Voice quality is just reach, more bass and rounded sounded vs my much more expensive PC headset. I don't really use the Xbox much for voice chat, so during game play I remove the boom mic - unless a specific friend is online. In terms of listening audio quality, the Razer Blackshark does not disappoint. Again, rich surround sound, deep bass, no cracks, pops, or hisses. The ANC was a pleasant surprise. It won't drown out background conversation in a home, but being summer and I play in the basement with a pedestal fan, it makes that background noise disappear. Winning! Overall, love the Razer Blackshare V3 Pro. Great sound, great build, incredible comfort, and the fact you can be a die hard Xbox gamer but still get some secondary uses out of the Blackshark makes it incredibly good value. Get it, you will be very happy!

Excellent for gaming, iffy ANC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are good, but very task-specific headphones. If you are using these for gaming, they're excellent and the audio is perfect with versatile adjustments possible through the X-Box or your computer. You can independently control the volume of the conversation and the game, and the timing of everything is excellent, as you would expect with a modern connection. The audio they hear through the microphone is also great and well isolated. One additional benefit that I didn't foresee is that you can actually connect multiple devices at the same time. Want to have audio from the game and music from your phone? You can do that and independently control the volumes of each of these audio streams. The plug-in wireless connector (an odd thing to say) is also very versatile and adapts to the X-Box or your computer, which I've enjoyed as I can use these for work calls as well without installing proprietary software and raising flags with the IT department. There are some shortcomings in my testing. While these do have noise-cancelling, it isn't great. It will be fine for a relatively quiet environment and offers some isolation, but I've noticed that it overcompensates for low-frequencies, resulting in a thrumming low-tone that is always present when there is mechanical background noise (air conditioning, fans, passing traffic outside). This is very irritating and distracting. Better to just turn off the ANC. The other issue (only related to the gaming-specific nature of these) is that there are no media controls other than volume. You can answer a call or hang up, but nothing else. No skipping forward or back. Battery life is great, as I've used these for about 20 hours over several days while connected to multiple devices and still have almost 2/3 of the battery left. You shouldn't have any problems with an all-day gaming session (possibly more!).

High quality, nice sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro ANC Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox and it’s been an amazing upgrade to my setup. The sound quality is rich and clear with deep bass that really pulls you into the game. The active noise cancelling is impressive, blocking out background distractions so I can focus fully whether I’m gaming or listening to music. The headset is lightweight and comfortable even during long sessions, and the memory foam cushions feel great. The wireless connection has been rock solid with no lag, and battery life easily lasts through long days of use. I also like the design, it looks sleek and has a premium feel. The mic quality is excellent for chat, making my voice come through clear without static. The Razer Synapse app adds another level with customization for sound profiles, mic settings, and ANC control, which really lets you fine tune everything the way you want. Overall, this headset feels like the perfect mix of comfort, performance, and style, and I’d recommend it to anyone on Xbox who wants a top-tier wireless experience.

Amazing Beast of a Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I just received my new Razer BlackShark V3 Pro ANC Wireless Gaming Headset for XBOX and have been using it for the past couple of weeks putting it through the paces. Razer is a brand that gamers have come to love and as they continue to produce amazing products every year. Unboxing includes: * Razer BlackShark V3 Pro Headset * Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 Dongle * Detachable Razer HyperClear Full Band Mic * USB-A to USB-C Cable * 3.5mm analog to USB-C Converter Cable * User Manual and Documentation Now if you have been a fan of Razer for sometime like myself, you know that their products are top-notch and are durable and built with quality in mind and this headset continues that trend. Before I even setup the headset, I just took a moment to look over the headset to familiarize myself with the controls and buttons. First off the headband part extends from the earcuffs on both sides allowing for the perfect fit. The left earcuff features a volume control knob, mute button, power button, USB-C port, as well as the port for the detachable mic. On the right earcuff, is wireless mode button, audio control wheel, and an ANC button for active noise cancellation. To someone new to gaming headsets the it may be a bit daunting but if you follow along with the included user manual you should be fine, as everything is adequately explained in the manual. To get started, simply connect to whichever wireless mode you prefer (most people will probably choose bluetooth, however, it can be connected either wirelessly or wired with the included cables). Once connected, you can use the volume control knob on the left earcuff to increase or decrease your volume. I connected it through bluetooth on my Xbox Series X and loaded up a game. When the game started, I was immediately blown away with the audio quality of the headset; it was unlike any other headset that, I’ve tried over the years. Crisp and crystal clear. I could hear sound in the background scenes that I didn’t know were there before. It had like a more immersive feeling to it like I was actually in the game. On games that I chat with other players, the audio quality from the other gamers was clear and I was asked a couple of times if I was using a new headset because I sounded clearer to those I was playing with. I really love this headset and can’t believe how amazing it is and also how comfortable it is to wear for extended periods of gameplay. Something that I almost forgot to mention is that both sides of the earcuffs have these magnetic plates that you can take off. Razer’s website has replacement magnetic plates with designs on their website that you can purchase to customize or personalize. I recommend this headset to anyone looking for an awesome online gaming experience.

Great Build Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is great, probably the best I've heard after owning Arctis Nova 7s and Corsair Virtuosos. Some people complained the noise cancelling isn't good enough but when I have the NC on I can't hear anything outside of my content. My main praise with the headset is the comfort + build quality I see myself using these same headphones for the next few years without any issues.

Awesome all around-microphone is lacking though
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing Very appealing box design, as Razer tends to do well with this. The front shows how the headset looks, as well as all the different connection methods one can use with the headset. The back of the box shows all the features of the headset, as well as the QR code for Razer's Audio app and the app used for connecting on Xbox. Once opened, the headset is well protected, and all the accessories are very easy to access located right above the headset. The instructions for use are located in a little tab under the headset instead of just lazily placed in there, which I really liked. Unboxing Rating: 5/5 Connecting IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. If you are unaware of how to use Hyperspeed Wireless Gen-2 Technology to connect via Bluetooth, then I would highly recommend downloading the Razer Audio Setup for Xbox app via your Xbox's Microsoft Store. I found it very easy to setup the headset, all you need to do is plug the Hyperspeed Wireless Gen-2 dongle into your Xbox via the USB to USB-C cord and you're good to go. On first time Bluetooth connection, if you are using a wired controller and your headset is not connecting, unplug the controller, connect the headset, then plug the controller back in. Connecting Rating: 5/5 Microphone Volume/Clarity While it is very good, my friends I played with said the microphone quality was a little bit worse than the normal headset I use. Overall it's still very good, but there is probably better on the market with regards to microphone clarity. Microphone Rating: 4.5/5 Headset Modes Default Mode: If you just enjoy sitting in a party with your friends, or you enjoy playing games that don't require the need to hear directional footsteps and/or directional gunfire I would highly recommend using the default mode. Game Mode: Good for shooter games, you can hear footsteps well and it's very easy to hear where you're being shot at from. Movie Mode: Very easy to hear dialogue loudly and clearly even at low volumes. I recommend pairing this with ANC OFF or ANC ON. Music Mode: No matter the genre you enjoy, it has a great balance between voice and the beats. The bass, mid, and treble all hit exceptionally well. If you closed your eyes, you'd think you were at a concert watching your favorite artist perform. eSports1 Mode: Best mode for shooter games, especially if heavily reliant on hearing footsteps. It minimizes the sound of gunshots (including your own) and background noise, so that you're able to hear footsteps very easily, even at a far distance. Headset Modes Rating: 5/5 Active Noise-Cancelling Ambient: I highly recommend this paired with default mode if you're just relaxing and you need to hear outside noises such as someone calling your name, your phone ringing, etc. ANC OFF: All around very good, no matter what mode you're in. It still suppresses sound pretty well. I would highly recommend this for movie mode. ANC ON: Best paired with game, esports, or music mode. You hear virtually no background noise, especially when the game audio is on I couldn't even hear myself talk. Active Noise-Cancelling Rating: 5/5 Conclusion Whether you want to listen to or create music, watch tv shows or movies, or you want play video games with your friends, this headset has pretty much everything you could ask for. Before this, my favorite headset was a HyperX Cloud II, but this Razer Blackshark V3 Pro completely blows it out of the water, and it's not even close. Anyone looking for an easy to use, high quality headset with plenty of features should buy this with no hesitation. Overall Rating: 24.5/25

Horrible experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound was too wide. The microphone was good or I would’ve given it. A zero star after you upgraded the firmware before you upgraded the firmware. The microphone was crap, but the sound was too wide for the headphones itself. You couldn’t place where anything came from I play call of duty and I could not tell where any of the foot that were coming from where any of the shots were coming from or any of the gun clicks were coming from nothing it was a horrible experience. I went back to my turtle Beach
