    Tiny Beast

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Runs hot? Yes. Too hot? No. I purchased this to replace my Asus ROG G703GXR-XB96K. The Asus crashed and burned within 2 years. Purchased Geeksquads extended warranty on it so they fully refunded the original purchase price of $3799.00. So I used the money to purchase this tiny beast and I mean beast. I use an external monitor so the 14" screen size wasn't a problem. What got me to purchase this Razer 14 was what it offered inside. A Ryzen 5900HX with a Geforce 3080 all in a more than light and portable laptop. Going from a hulking 10 1/2 Lb. behemoth not to mention the 5 more Lbs of power bricks. I was sold. I modify GTA V and I mean mod. Like 150 GB of mods over what the original game files are. All settings maxed out to very high and ultra. I also retexture almost all the GTA V files so I needed a laptop that was powerful enough to run Gimp, OpenIV and Codewalker all at the same time. Well this does it without an issue even with just the 16 GB of soldered on ram. Gameplay has boosted 20 to 40 FPS. without any glitching or tearing. Not to mention never dropping below 50 FPS. even under the heaviest loads during cars blowing up, RPG's being shot everywhere and peds all having a shootout all at the same time. Some reviews say the refresh rate on an external monitor is limited to 60 Hz. Wrong. I'm running mine @ 165 Hz. You need to set the resolution and refresh rate according to your monitors specs through Windows display adapter properties in the advanced section under display. All and all I'm very happy with my purchase. And yes I highly recommend purchasing Geeksquads extended warranty. It's well worth it. I got an upgrade with a couple of hundred Best buy bucks left over from my refund. On a side note. If you purchase the Razer 14 my recommendation is to purchase an under the laptop cooling fan ($30.00) which I had originally for the Asus. It definitely helps with keeping this laptops heat under control. Idle 45c under some load 85c with some momentary 90c spikes under extreme gameplay loads.

This stupid Best Buy app crashes as I was writing my lengthy review. Just know this computer is awesome, I compared it with others and I got it on sale for $1,469.99 open-box excellent. Any purchase for this hardware at MSRP is outlandish. Happy hunting for deals!

I watched a lot of reviews on this prior to my purchase and the common theme was this was the macbook of gaming laptops and I have to say that description is spot on. The keyboard is amazing which honestly is one of the most important aspects of a gaming laptop. It has an amazing CPU and GPU. Wish it had a little more internal storage, upgradeable ram, and more IO. It doesnt have bad IO but I like how Dell uses the back of the laptop for additional lesser used ports.

Love the build and materials. Coming from MacBook Pros over the last 10 years, this follows suit in build quality. Although slightly throttled, I think you already know about the performance numbers if you are looking at this 3080 model anyways. Does not disappoint. As for usage: most everyday tasks on battery does not kick on any fans. It's pretty cool and silent for the most part. Plug it in, do some slightly taxing work and the fans will kick on. They are not obnoxious however. Also, out of the box settings has me at about 2 1/2 hours of battery life under light browsing / video watching usage. Tweaking settings for longer battery life (switching screen to 60 hz, using iGPU only for most tasks, etc) I can get about 6 hours. This is at maximum brightness -- if I'm working, looking at text, I want to do it on a bright sharp screen. Screen is good, but I wish it could be slightly brighter. Color is great. I do notice one thing that helps with the screen brightness is turning off all the adaptive brightness settings. First in windows display settings, then in AMD's software settings and then in the NVidia control panel. Once this is done, the screen obviously doesn't dim but at max, it seems about 50 nits brighter...? Finally, I have to recommend getting Razer products from Best Buy. Razer's customer support is really really bad. This is very important should you run into any issues. Best Buy has the best electronics support. I would even go so far as do not get any warranty from Razer. Rather use Best Buy's.

This is the first review I've felt compelled to write. I've had everything from Dell XPS to the most recent MacBook Pro M1 with 16GB ram. This is the best laptop I've ever owned. Insane power when connected to the Razer power brick, two-hour charge time via USB-C, and nearly 10 hours of battery life with the screen set to 40% brightness, 60hz, and keyboard backlighting to 30%. Fans are nearly silent unless under heavy load. Hot under heavy load. It does everything; the keyboard and trackpad are MacBook quality. I enjoy the Razer 14 more. Was concerned about the 16GB of soldered RAM but Windows compression has kept my usage way below the limit in most use cases.

This is an incredible PC. While the 3080 here is only 100 watts, and not on par with some of the other gaming laptops, this is on 14". It is ultra portable, solid construction and a beautiful screen to boot. This Ryzen 9 screams, and handled everything I could throw at it. I would have liked to see some upgradable RAM here, but 16 should be enough for the foreseeable future. All in all, a fantastic machine.

I purchased this laptop to replace my Blade Stealth 13 that I use at my office with a 3060 Ti eGPU setup. This computer is screaming fast. It runs everything I throw at it. The keyboard is pretty nice and the trackpad is very smooth. The screens looks good. There isn't any uneven backlighting. The screen resolution is 1440p for a 14", text can get a little small. but it's manageable. Games run smooth as butter and the refresh rate seems to be as claimed. The laptop does get toasty when you fire things up which is expected, but otherwise stays pretty relatively cool to the touch when you're just doing basic tasks. The only issues are being an AMD chipset it doesn't have Thunderbolt even though the technology has been opened up by Intel, and for this price it only comes with a 1TB SSD. That said it was very easy to upgrade to a 2TB SSD, though I found out the chipset only supports PCIe Gen 3. When I did the upgrade. the Razer website to get all the drivers was non-existent. I had to manually download WiFi drivers from Intel, then the chipset drivers from AMD, GPU drivers from Nvidia for everything to run correct. This is more a Razer website problem so does not take away from the product itself. I am very happy with my purchase.

A lot of power for this size laptop. The 3080 was probably overkill but this is my desktop replacement so I went all out. The keyboard per key RGB is very bright and easy to control. The screen looks amazing but at 14 inch a 1440p screen is really too much but it is very color accurate which makes it look amazing. The best part of this laptop is the portability I could have gotten the 15 or 17 but this one is easy to carry even in a 13 inch laptop bag and I got a nice portable 100w charger for great portability.

GOOD: fast performance, minimal noise when gaming This was my first Razer product purchase and I've enjoyed it so far. In my first four months with this machine, I've found this to be an excellent gaming laptop, easily able to run Diablo 2 Resurrected, Monster Hunter Rise, NBA 2K22, and other games released in the past year (2021-2022), even while playing on max settings. I use a 1440p Dell monitor, so I can't speak to the 4K experience, but games easily run on max settings at 1440p with minimal fan noise and there definitely seems to be room for more performance (I tend to play most games at 60fps - 75fps capped). From what I read, this 14 inch Razer Blade model has the same vapor cooling system found in the high end 15 inch Razer Blade Advanced, which explains why there isn't much fan noise generated. As for productivity usage, I haven't experienced any issues using the Razer Blade 14 as a work laptop for creative projects, whether using Microsoft Office applications or the latest version of Pro Tools. BAD: touchpad issue, Razer driver support is not great The only negative issue I found was that there some driver issues that caused the touchpad to stop functioning after a normal Windows Update. I couldn't find a driver fix for it online (through either Razer or Microsoft) that worked, so I'm relying on a Bluetooth wireless mouse to navigate on this laptop (and a wired USB mouse backup just in case I accidentally disconnect the Bluetooth). It's not perfect but I feel like it's a small caveat in the face of an overwise very reliable machine. 98% of the time I have the laptop docked and am using a wireless mouse anyway, so it doesn't affect day to day use, but if I were to use it as a portable device I'd just be careful not to accidentally disconnect the Bluetooth (or carry a backup USB mouse).

Great computer but a few things I would change first is the 14 inch screen it’s hard to actually see things on it next I wish the ram was upgradable because the 16 gigs isn’t good but besides that it’s a great computer… the battery life is garbage won’t last more than 3 hours

I was a bit leery purchasing this due to other reviews; however, after changing some power settings, this laptop is one of the coolest (temp-wise) that I've ever used, never mind the fact that it has an OC CPU + a powerful GPU (though with reduced power). I'm still entertaining getting the G14 with 6700S, but the Razer 14 is really quite stable running Civ 5, 6, BE, and Grim Dawn. I still have to play other titles, but I am really amazed at the effective cooling that I'm seeing in this laptop.

Loving this machine! I do a lot of graphics work, mainly in some intense software, so I really needed a powerhouse that wasn't 17 inches and 10-15 lbs. Love it so far, no issues and now that I've gotten it figured how I like, it's a dream machine
