The Razer Blade 15 is an excellent laptop with a few quirks. It comes with a midrange graphics card and 16 gigabytes of memory, which is perfect for gaming and intensive work (AutoCAD, Cad, and Adobe Suite) and multitasking. For gaming it has all the necessary features for you including a 1080p display, 120 hertz refresh rate; and most importantly, a 1660ti graphics card with 6 gigabytes of video ram. All of which are nice to have for me. for someone one who uses multitasks with google chrome and gaming, the laptop does not slow down or hiccup; it performs well under heavy loads (provided you are mindful of the amount of ram your using). While gaming the Blade performs well during Destiny and Watch Dogs 2; as long as the Blade is plugged in during intensive gaming or working then it should not bottleneck (slowdown in performance) most of the time I keep my charger plugged in while playing after class, because of the battery drain it has while running heavy applications. After around an hour of gaming it does become uncomfortably hot; so, I would just suggest you keep it indoors and on a cool surface. On battery power the applications can start throttling after a certain while to preserve power; The windows power settings however can be altered to use more or less power; I prefer to use razer’s default power plan. For productivity this is where the razer shines its best, with the correct power plan enabled I had 9-10 hours of battery, more than enough for the school day. While on Microsoft Word with Chrome up the fan noise was nonexistent, in fact the fan is very silent (unless you are doing intensive tasks). so, there is no worry for that. the keyboard takes a while to get used to but once you master it, you will be breezing through it, its quick, snappy, and has a short travel time; Although, this is a very subjective opinion of mine and can differ depending on your preference. Microsoft office applications run great and you can have them switch between each other fast. The CPU is strong enough to handle multitasking and runs cool. Physically the hardware does have expandable storage and an extra ram slot; The laptop does have a tendency to attract fingerprints due to the aluminum chassis, which is a negative while a positive would be the hard casing and durable shell. It resembles a MacBook in a way and that is something that I prefer since this is my first laptop since my MacBook (2019). The ports are all I need, although I would prefer Thunderbolt Compatibility and a SD card port. The backplate has a glowing Razer logo that may not be office friendly but I am ok with it personally. It is 15 inches and pretty light. The lid feels great to close unlike other laptops, because of the quality. In conclusion, most of the features are helpful but if you are professionally working or a serious gamer, I would recommend a Razer blade 14 (2020). It is just like this laptop but has the 2000 or 3000 Series. For the price point of $1299 (which was on sale) this laptop meshes quality with performance and durability. I highly recommend this to any STEM college majors or even high schoolers who would like to game and work on school. Just the only negative is fingerprints on the chassis so get a different color if that bothers you. The Razer Blade 15 proves to be yet another reliable workstation and gaming rig, this gets a 10/10 from me!

    Bad Trackpad and Value

The trackpad click, tap, and gestures stopped working after 2 years. I verified all of the trackpad settings were correct and also tried reinstalling the drivers. I tried to get help from Razer support, but since the laptop was outside the 1 year warranty they would charge a $100 diagnostic fee plus repair costs. Additional research shows these laptops experience battery swelling which can cause trackpad issues. So it appears trackpad issues are not uncommon for Razer. One other complaint is the laptop edges are pretty sharp so is uncomfortable on your wrists if you rest them on the laptop when typing. The performance is fine and it is a good looking laptop, but you can find better spec devices for the same price so it’s not worth the extra cost. Very disappointed in this purchase. I will not be purchasing a Razer again.

Solid gaming laptop, with a few misleads

This is a really solid laptop, however it's a bit misleading how it's positioned in the Razer Base line... It's not really a Base model... It's Base Entry model. Meaning it does not have thunderbolt which is a bummer because you cannot use it with the external GPU housing (Core X) they make... A laptop 3 years older than this will work and this one won't.... That's silly. Also this unit does not have an ethernet port like it's cousin. The one good thing though is that is uses a more traditional power adapter versus the Razer proprietary connection on the other models. Performance wise, the machine is really nice... It does not have RTX, but it plays most modern titles no problem on high settings... Even 2077 it handles pretty solid. The build is what you expect, very solid. For the price I got it for its a great machine.

I've had this laptop for a year now. Every day, I run it plugged into power with an external 24" monitor, external keyboard and mouse, and I quite often have 10-30 tabs open, multiple server processes running at once, Slack, Spotify, and an IDE, and it doesn't so much as blink. I bought this for work mainly and it does everything I need it to do, and more. As far as gaming goes, I am a very very casual gamer who doesn't need anything special since I'm just playing things like The Sims, Stardew Valley, and Stray. I will say, running any game makes the laptop get very very hot, very quickly, but I've researched and tweaked my settings as much as I can to try and mitigate that. Additionally, there was an issue where the battery power when I take the laptop off the power doesn't last very long at all -- sometimes under 2 hours. Again, this was a setting that I needed to tweak and I figured out a way to make it last longer, but I wish these processes that cause battery drain wouldn't be running in the first place without explicitly starting them.

    Overall, Great Laptop

This is a great laptop, depending on what your needs are. I picked this up after another manufacturer delayed shipping by a third month. The GTX 1660Ti graphics chip is sufficient for most of my gaming needs. I run this with power plugged in with a 24" monitor, external keyboard, external mouse. The - I7 processor is pretty high-performance, so you aren't going to get a lot of battery life from this particular model on battery alone. This is an awesome system if you are want a fairly good graphics card -right now- but not a full-on gamer rig with the latest RTX technology. I added a 1 GB SSD to mine with no problem. I plan to use it docked 90% of the time, but will have my programs and games if I want to go to a buddy's house. The display is only FHD, so if you want integrated 4K display, buy something different. If you want a long battery life buy something different. If you want a light laptop, buy something different.

(the 120hz display is very smooth & it's easy to upgrade the ssd amount which makes this a gem of windows pc for the price) also it gets a lot of compliments, the only thing i would of liked is more battery life considering it is on the lower tier of razer laptops but other than that 10/10 machine

Works well as expected. I can play games such as Genshin Impact on it with no issues. It does get a bit hot, so I run a Targus cooling pad underneath it. I like how you can change the brightness of the key lighting and make custom colors and designs. I also like the the speakers come out from both sides of the keyboard giving it a little bit of a surround sound feel. I do wish that there was a nuber pad, but I do not thing that it would be plausible on a model this small. Battery life is pretty good if you are not running anything too intense. Browsing the web is fine, but if you want to play games, you probably want to connect to the charger.

Really fast. Pleased with my purchase. Able to easily play valorant at 1080p hd with 120 fps on ultra settings. best gaming experience I have had so far. When gaming it is best to keep the laptop connected to the charger, gaming causes the battery to deplete fast. Would highly recommend.

Great computer, for the price don't be scare to buy it for lacking 144hz screen (it has 120hz) or not having the new RTX cards, if you are planing to play 1080p AAA games this computer is more than capable! It has 16Gb of ram x8( faster bandwith) also it has an open M.2 slot for ssd drives size 2280. Great build quality, mediocre speakers by the way. Pretty cold and quiet while playing intensive games.

I bought this Razer Blade 15 Base when it was on sale sub - $1000 and it feels like an absolute steal. Pros: - 1660ti is a very capable GPU, running many modern AAA games well above 60fps. For example, Doom Eternal runs at 100+ fps with all settings on Ultra. - The 1080p is screen is crisp with nice colors. The 120hz screen makes everyday operation on the laptop feel even snappier. I think 15.6" is the perfect size for portability and immersive gaming. - The 6 core intel CPU has plenty of power on tap. Everything on this laptop feels fast and immediate. - Great selection of ports. - I've read a lot of criticism of the keyboard, but I find it to be more than adequate. The keyboard backlighting is very bright. - The trackpad is huge and accurate. If you're coming from a Macbook you'll feel right at home here. - Two NVME M.2 slots (one open) and swappable RAM. Laptop comes with 16gb but can handle 32gb. - Attractive looking laptop that is solidly built and feels premium. It's deceptively light. Cons: - Compared to modern laptop screens, I would have liked to have seen this one get a little brighter. - 16:9 aspect ratio is great for gaming and media consumption, but a little and less helpful for productivity compared to 16:10 screens. - When gaming, expect the laptop to run loud and hot (though not uncomfortably so). - Paltry 256gb base storage shouldn't even been an option for something marketed as a gaming laptop. Thankfully, Razer does give you that second open NVME slot. I put a 1tb drive in mine and it worked without a hitch. - The laptop easily gets fingerprint smudges on the body that don't wipe away easily with a microfiber cloth. I'm still trying to find the best way of quickly cleaning it. It might be worth your time to skin it. - An external GPU enclosure is out of the question due to lack of thunderbolt.

This was a good deal for a Razer 15 under $1000. Unfortunate you do get what you pay for. The panel color was washed out, and slow response. Expected better from the 120hz panel, The build quality is always good from Razer but its a finger print magnet and there was a huge light bleed on the bottom right panel. Mouse and keyboard worked well and it has a vibrant RGB single zone keyboard. Overall for under $1000 its okay but not great, It is not worth the retail price that Razer want to charge for this. If you have more money invest in a better laptop to future proof your gaming longevity. This laptop is really a base model with basic specs just to get you started.

Bought as part of Best Buy price matching Prime Day ($940). At that price this was a great deal as it was an upgrade from a 7 year old Dell Laptop. Love the feel of the keyboard, especially after I paired it with the Razer Laptop Stand. The 120 Hz panel for watching content is great, I am not a gamer so can't give much detail on that. It's smaller and lighter than expected, and the build quality feels first rate. Yes, it's a fingerprint magnet but applied a skin on the cover to deal with that. Also the Razer logo on the cover is connected to the screen backlight so can't be turned off, so the skin covers that as well. All in all for the price a very good upgrade.

This is my second razer blade 15 base model and I cant say I'm disappointed in this product at all. This model features the well know GPU, GTX 1660ti. This card will support most current games and will do it well. On most games I average around 60-120 frames which is not bad at all. This laptop not only handles gaming extremely well, It will also complete any desktop task in seconds making it perfect for productivity as well. My experience with this laptop has been very positive and with the right care I anticipate it will last me a very long time.

Razor makes great products. The laptop worked well. The fans are a bit loud but it's a gaming laptop what do you expect if they weren't spinning up you'd have major problems. I paid a little more and got an MSI gamer for my son. It had better video card and a larger 1 TB SSD. Probably not as good quality build but I'm hoping it will last just as long. (MSI was from Best Buy also,) Best Buy has a good selection of Laptops but comparing them is hard to do less you buy them and run them side by side like I did. I also bought an HP Omen for myself Best Buy what can I say.
