A Good Chair by Any Other Name

There is no brand more synonymous with PC gaming than Razer. Having delivered quality gaming peripherals for over a decade, it was only a matter of time before the company started working to conquer the rest of your gaming setup. The Iskur is Razer’s first ever gaming chair, bringing legitimacy to a product segment that seems flooded with hundreds of cheap off-brand chairs that other gaming companies slap their logo on. Razer takes a different approach by offering a truly premium, ergonomic chair worthy of the brand, and for a first attempt they have done very well, only missing on a few small details. However, the price leaves something to be desired. Of important note - when it comes to comfort, chairs are a very subjective item to review. My impressions will likely vary from yours, and as such I highly recommend demoing this chair at your local Best Buy prior to purchase. - Unboxing and Setup Shipping in a huge box weighing nearly 80 pounds, the Razer Iskur is as heavy as it is unwieldy to get up a flight of stairs. Razer recommends having a friend or assistant help with assembly, and I can’t say I disagree. Take care managing the box, or at least be prepared to carry pieces to where the chair’s going to end up. Upon opening the box, extremely large, clear, visible instructions greet you. It’s clear that Razer took the time to design the packaging for optimal protection and quick setup, as everything is neatly slotted into position and protected with very thick layers of foam. Assembly is very straightforward - there’s only a handful of major assemblies to put together - and the included T-handle hex tool is a great step up from the expected L-shaped wrench. All the hardware is presented in an orderly way that allows for quick, organized assembly. One of the final steps will be hardest to manage if you’re alone - lifting the mostly assembled chair onto the base. This chair is significantly heavier than some premium office chairs and even gaming chairs that are about half the price of the Iskur. Once everything is assembled, however, the chair is absolutely gorgeous. The black leatherette and green stitching present in a premium way, though the text at the front edge of the seat is a little tacky. Regardless, the Iskur is a proper command chair for your gaming setup. - Adjustability The Iskur is an extremely adjustable chair. Height, lumbar, and back recline are all adjustable along with three-way adjustable arms. Seat base recline is also toggleable using a hefty lever and spring-loaded dial, but full seat recline does not work well with the ergonomic positioning the Iskur demands, even after massively loosening the spring. The lumbar support is the Iskur’s killer feature. A pneumatic piston controlled by a small lever pushes the lumbar forward, and it is easy to find and set the optimal lumbar position. I found this contoured excellently to my spine and forced a much more natural upright seating position. This is augmented by the memory foam pillow, which is covered in a soft microfiber material that feels great on the head. - Comfort Right off the bat I noticed that the Iskur is a firmer chair than expected. The foam is stiff but forgiving enough to be comfortable in an extended session. It is a comfortable chair to sit in, but it is not particularly wide. With a 36-inch waist I have virtually no extra clearance to the seat bolsters - if I were any larger I would be sitting on them quite uncomfortably. Once adjusted into a proper, upright, ergonomic sitting position (which only takes a few moments with all the adjustability on offer), the chair is wonderful to sit in for extended periods. I found myself shifting, moving, and readjusting myself far less often in the Iskur than in premium office chairs I used previously. My main gaming station serves both gaming and work duties, and I found that the better posture helped distract me less often from work and keep focus up. I would’ve liked being able to lean back every now and then to relax, but that goes against the purpose of the chair. After an 8 hour workday usually followed up by several hours of PC gaming, I found my back and hips were in much better shape with regards to aching and stiffness than all the lower quality chairs I had used prior. The ergonomic design works very well. The chief comfort issue I have is the quality of the arms. They are a very firm plastic that does not have a pleasant texture, and as a result they distract from what’s otherwise a very comfortable chair. - Build Quality The Iskur’s build quality is a noticeable step up from premium chairs that retail in the $300 range. The biggest difference is in the quality of the leather used - while most chairs use PU (bonded) leather to keep costs down, the Iskur uses PVC leather which is more like leatherette you would find in passenger cars. The leather feels very nice to the touch and should last much longer than PU leather that typically begins to crack, flake, and peel after a short time. The chair is heavy, solidly built, and glides well. This feels very premium and weighty. I didn’t notice any rattles or loose joints, but every now and then I will hear an innocuous click from somewhere in the lumbar system, and occasionally a metallic pop from what I assume is the base recline spring. I don’t have too much concern with these given the overall high build quality of the rest of the chair. Of course long term durability is difficult to assess without several months of regular use, but the initial quality is quite high and suggests this will stand up to regular use and abuse fairly well. - Bottom Line The Razer Iskur is a great chair to complement your gaming setup. It’s very comfortable for an ergonomic chair, looks great, and seems like it’ll deliver comfortable work and gaming for years to come. I have little to complain about beyond the arm material. Ultimately though, the Iskur is a touch pricey. The Razer name commands a premium for style, but the Iskur has no direct competitors close to its price point. At $399 the chair would be perfectly priced, but at $499 the value proposition falls unless you’re very much a Razer fan. It’s still a great chair worth checking out, but if you value comfort and ergonomics more than branding there are other options at this price or lower that make no compromises. Still, Razer has built a solid throne in the Iskur, and it comes recommended!

I’ve had this chair now for over a year and it has been the best desk chair I’ve ever had. The lumbar support has done wonders for preventing back pain. The grey fabric also prevents it from looking like just another gaming chair. Only qualm this far has been that it has started wobble a little but hasn’t affected my enjoyment too much

Chair is a beast that can support my weight and support my back with the lumbar feature. It is a little bizarre to feel at first, but once you get used to it, you notice how it helps your posture. I bought this being in the market for a gaming chair, and I would say I’m very satisfied. Whether I’m reclining or sitting up, the chair is so comfortable to sit in.

Overall good chair. Not sure if it’s worth the full price tho. Maybe if you get it at a good discount. I had a cheaper chair from Amazon that felt just as nice, but it did break after 1.5 years so there’s that..

This review is for Razer Iskur original version with green stitching and not for the new Black Edition. Razer Iskur gaming chair looks bold with its premium synthetic leather upholstery combined with ergonomic features to make the chair best for gamers and professionals WFH and spend more time in front of system without hurting the back. This chair gives the same office friendly feel of very high-end ergonomic chairs on the market. Packing of this chair is top notch. Very well padded with foam sheets and plastic to have all pieces intact during shipping. Very well packaged and the quick instruction on the box as a poster is well thought of design for easy access with clear pictures and instructions for assembly. Setup was fairly easy with the included quick instruction manual but would suggest to watch the video once to make the setup breeze. Unpack the large box, you will have the poster on the top with the welcome message from the co-founder/CEO and when flipped you have the assembly guide with pictures for setup. What’s inside picture showcase the items inside the box and to arrange in the order. There are 9 steps with pictures and when followed in the same step by step instructions the setup is fairly easy compared to other chairs you get in the big box stores. Entire setup process took 20 minutes but could take longer depending on the skill level and the tools used. Packing comes with the tool needed for setup and no additional tools required. Very happy with the process of setup and can be done by anyone with the clearly followed included instructions or videos on razer website. I own the SecretLab Titan chair and compared to that the quality, workmanship, ergonomics feel almost same except this chair is on the firm side. This chair can be used as a regular office chair and is very comfortable with lot of ergonomic adjustments especially with the inbuilt lumbar support system. Multi layered synthetic leather, with green stiches adds aesthetics with the logo on the front and lettering of RAZER on the back. Memory foam headrest is very soft and can be easily removed or adjusted. There are plenty of adjustments. Armrests are 4D that means it can move up or down, forward or backward, in or out, rotated inward or outward depending on your posture and desk heights. There are 2 levers on right side for lumber and reclining features and on the left a lever for the height adjustments like all chairs. What really makes Razer Iskur stand out from the competitors is its unique ergonomic lumbar support system. Razer has incorporated a piston action with the lever to adjust the lumber support and when the lever is pulled the lumbar section on the chair moves forward and with the body weight it can be pushed back to the desired comfortable level which is a brilliant design for lumbar support. This unique feature is great for anyone who spends lot of time working or gaming and needs great lower back support flexibility. It does take few tries and hours to get to the desired spot and once set it feels great. Reclining feature is good and has good angle. Only con, I can think of compared to my SecretLab and other Serta high end ergonomic chair is that this chair is little bit on firm side and will take a week to break in to get more comfortable. In no means, its uncomfortable but would be nice to have little more foam or paddings for my preference. Also, the bold lettering of FOR GAMERS, By GAMERS in the front side of the seat in green stitching is not my favorite. Overall, this chair is very well built with top quality products and feels very premium high-end ergonomic chair and undoubtedly Razer has delivered the need of gamers in the first gen. There is a new black edition that was sold out but I wanted this edition with green stitching to add it to my gaming setup. If you are looking for a subtle look with no vibrant colors on chair and want to use as home office/gaming chair then the all-new black edition will be an option. Highly recommend for the design, 4D arm support features, ergonomic lumbar support system and high-quality materials.

I bought myself one back in January and recently got another through Best Buy for my brother and we absolutely love them. The quality is A+ and the ergonomic support is awesome. We are both gamers and are probably in them 3-5 hours nightly but never complain about back pain. I would recommend this to anyone. Yeah, the price is steep but it's 100% worth.

----- Summary ----- Verdict: Although the design looks similar to other gaming chairs, the Razer Iskur is unique. Its innovative built-in lumbar support mechanism along with the adjustable 4D armrests, back angle and chair height provide a level of comfort that I have never experienced in a gaming chair. On top of that, the attention to detail and build quality are exceptional. It carries a high price tag, but the Iskur is unmatched. Pros: - Attention to detail - Excellent build quality - Highly adjustable - Comfortable Cons: - Only ideal for people 5’6”-6’2” - Fairly pricey ----- Details ----- Assembly: Unboxing the Razer Iskur was a unique experience that made a good first impression. With its creative design and comical use-case dos and don’ts, it was clear that thought went into the packaging. There is even a message from the Razer CEO and a QR code that takes you straight to a video with instructions on how to assemble the chair. Right from the start, Razer heightened my excitement about this chair by going above and beyond. Assembly was quick and easy, thanks to the step-by-step instructions, organized parts, and included Allen wrench. Razer recommends two people for assembly, so my wife and I worked together, but I think it could be assembled solo as well. Because the chair is heavy, lifting it onto the base was a little tricky, so it was nice to have an extra set of hands. Design & Quality: Like other racing-style gaming chairs, the Razer Iskur has a large seat with curves around the base, shoulders, and head that provide support. The right side has adjustment levers for the back angle, lumbar support, and height, whereas the left has a lever to control whether the chair can tilt backwards or is locked in place. It is a very comfortable chair with padding that strikes a great balance between firm and soft. A nice addition is the detachable memory foam head cushion. I am 5’11” and it fits perfectly between my neck and the bottom of my head, but there are only a few inches of room for adjustment. If you are considering this chair, keep in mind that Razer recommends users be between 5’6” and 6’2”. I am very impressed by the build quality. Simply put, the Iskur is built like a tank. Every component is solid, and the multi-layered synthetic leather feels durable, so I have no worries about anything breaking or wearing down over time. Features: The standout feature of the Razer Iskur is its adjustable lumbar support. The mechanism is unlike anything I have seen on a chair. Like many gaming chairs on the market, my previous one had a pillow for lumbar support. For me, just a pillow is not enough for extended working or gaming sessions. In my previous chair, I often noticed that I would shift around trying to get comfortable and sometimes had lower back pain. That is a thing of the past with the Iskur. Since the lower backrest is an adjustable part of the chair itself, it can extend outward and upward to provide your preferred level of lumbar support. Unlike a pillow, it is sturdy and supportive. I am just a few days into my experience with this chair, and I already notice myself not shifting around as much to get comfortable and no lower back pain. Another notable feature is the 4D armrests that can be adjusted up and down, forwards and backwards, left and right, and rotated inwards or outwards. As previously mentioned, the chair also has levers to control back angle, height, and tilt. These, along with the 4D armrests, allow me to adjust the chair just how I like. When it comes to comfort, I have quickly realized that this level of adjustability makes a huge difference.

I had bought this chair and I had a slight defect and had to get a replacement; Best Buy had no issue sending out another chair. The left 4d button for rotating the armrest was sliding out. Other than this issue I would have given 5 stars, the chair itself is great. It is a little stiff, but this can be broken in. The lumbar is supportive and the backrest feels like it's at the right height. This is a well-designed product with an error on the production line which can happen with any product. The chair will do exactly as it is supposed to do, barring getting one with a defect.

This is my experience with my first “gaming” chair. I work from home and can spend considerable time at my desk. I have been using a small office chair and to make it more “ergonomic” I added a small pillow for support to help with my posture. This time gets increased because sometimes I start playing games right after work. After opening the massive box the chair came in, all components were easy to take out, spread out, and identify. The instructions, which were printed on a huge poster, were fairly easy to follow. Just in case, there’s a video on Razer’s website. It did take some effort in putting it together, but nothing a single person without engineering knowledge can’t do. Once assembled, I could appreciate the typical “gaming” design, which resembles a racing seat. It seems sturdy and has very nice, quality materials. The synthetic leather feels nice to the touch. The back is raised to head level, and the base is wide. The back has small wings that fold in to “hug” the shoulders slightly. The Razer green accents are visible yet subtle. It is a big change from my original chair and looks quite robust in front of my large desk setup (I have a 55” desk with dual monitors. It helps that the wheels roll reasonably easy, although the weight of the chair creates a bit of resistance. Obviously, the most important factor is comfort. In this, I am happy to report that I am very satisfied. I will say that it took some messing around and several adjustments for me to find the “sweet spot”, but once I settled, it’s been consistent. There are so many levers to work with which should give plenty of options. Now keep in mind that there are various body shapes so this my personal experience. I am 5’6” and have a medium-small frame. I found that my head can rest comfortably on the included headrest pillow and that my arms rest naturally on the armrests. I thought the seat cushion was a bit too firm, but then I realized that my old chair was simply too soft. While I can appreciate the folded seat, which allows the legs to stay closer, I can see it being a bit too narrow for someone who has a wider frame. It certainly makes it more difficult to sit cross-legged, if that’s a thing you do. Of course, the main feature is the lumbar support. This is what sold it to me. I am always very conscious about my posture. In my old chair, I constantly reminded myself not to slouch and extend my back. The small pillow helped, but many times I simply took the easy route and slumped, causing discomfort when getting up. That’s not the case with the Razer, as it actively keeps your spine pushed out by activating the lumbar support system with a small lever under the seat. Finding the right position may take some tinkering, and depending on your posture and habits, may have to be readjusted during the day. However, I haven’t really messed with it since I found a position that works for me. Don’t get me wrong, you still have the ability to slouch and melt in the chair at any time by lowering the lumbar support and reclining the back -perfect for watching content while sipping on your favorite drink. But is it worth the price tag? Originally, I was skeptical. I haven’t thought of gaming chairs being a premium item, but I believe Razer has pulled it off in this case. It has definitely helped me in keeping a good posture more consistently, and even provided more immersion in simulation games (racing, flying), which I play most. I think the Iskur chair is a decent investment for small-medium body types. I am sure glad I have it and will probably consider getting one for my son.

Right outside the box the chair is stiff, you must loosen it up. The chair is great, regardless of all the critics online this chair is really comfortable, specifically in my case that I’m 5’8” 270lb, I’m not a slim person and I fit perfectly in the chair. Even the headrest sits perfectly on my neck. The back support is great, I only needed a little bit of support from, but you can get it to curve your back completely if you want to. If you find it for sale ($380) and you hate your gaming chair that you got from Amazon, you can feel confident that this chair is a great purchase that will change your way of sitting (or working from home as well)

Here we are two years after purchase. We were really happy with the chair aside from some cosmetic wear and tear. Until we came down this morning to discover the hydraulics have gone kaput. The chair just slowly sinks down to the lowest level. So we got two years but for such a price I guess I expected longer.

I have sat in many gaming chairs over the years. This is by far the best of the bunch. Pros: - Construction and design are impeccable. You can tell that Razer used the best materials that would be long lasting and prevent wear and tear. You get the best of comfort and longevity. - The integrated lumbar support is unique and helps support marathon gaming sessions that we all enjoy. It is easily adjustable with a lever on the right hand side of the chair. - Assembly was very easy. The chair comes well packaged and only requires a handful of screws and a single tool (included) to put together. - The included memory foam pillow is a nice added touch. - All of the adjustables you would expect in a gaming chair are here including recline, height adjustment, and arm rest adjustments (4-directional). One thing to be mindful of is that this is a chair for adults and grown teenagers. If you are shopping for anyone under 14, this chair will likely be far too big for them. This chair may be one of the higher priced ones out there, but you get what you pay for. I doubt you'll find yourself looking to replace this one years down the road as it is built to last! I love it.

Setup: This chair require assembling, since it comes in pieces. Assembling is relatively easy and all screws are in same hex size, and chair comes with T shaped Allen wrench for assembling. Assembling diagram comes on the back of the large green cover paper, so don’t look for any booklet instructions like I did. Materials used seem to be of the very good quality and colors are beautiful, black leather with green stitching, and green letters and logos. Chair is built sturdy and very comfortable at the same time, but the most importantly no strange smells. Well done! Keep in mind it’s very heavy and if you are caring this chair to 2nd floor or basement I would suggest moving it to final destination while dissembled, in pieces. Positioning: This chair has very good options, from tilting base (which could be locked), tilting/lowering back side, to back support on lower back to Recaro style side and shoulder support. Great options on arm rests that moves up, down, in and out, to sliding towards front and the back. Chair also comes with small removable pillow for your head or neck support. Durability: This is definitely durable chair with strong materials. I have tried to put my weight pressure on both base and back of the chair and it holds my weight with no problem, it was still strong and sturdy like it was on day one. Sliding arm support pieces looks like plastic but they are some kind of combo of plastic and rubber and they are slightly soft when you press them, and feeling really comfy when you lean on them. Experience: I have tried lots of chairs in my life but this is something else, in a positive way. Completely opposite from chairs that get slightly soft after just few days of use. This one will keep its shape and sturdiness for a while and has colorful stunning design. Regardless do you play few hours of games a day, of working full time job from your home office this chair is in my opinion a great choice because it’s firm with many positioning options and extremely easy to clean. Soft chairs cause sweat and this chair is the winner because it's not one of those.
