I've been gaming with this headset for almost a week now, mostly with my playstation 5. It is really easy to pair with the playstation 5. You connect the included usb c dongle, turn on the headset and you're off. You'll have to dig into the settings to get all audio output into the headset, if you haven't done so with your console already. But it is easy to get going. The best thing about this headset is that it is compatible with literally everything. Well... just about anything. It doesn't include a 3.5mm adapter but that is fine. Not many devices come with a 3.5mm port these days. You can pair this with your phone, tablet, Mac with bluetooth. The usb c dongle will pair it with PS5, PC, and Xbox. This headset is super versatile. A definite bonus if you have multiple consoles and devices. You'll have the most EQ control by using this with a PC as you can download software to tweak the settings, use THX Spatial Audio and more. All that being said, I think the sound quality of this headset is alright. Not the best I've ever gamed with, but it is serviceable and I think the majority of gamers will be satisfied with it. They are very comfortable, my ears never really fatigued with these on. The ear cups are soft and comfortable. They feel like they have memory foam in them, and the fabric is very soft, like a plush stuffed teddy bear. The RGB lighting, although very cool doesn't do much for me as I can never even see it on. I feel like these will be good for people who stream online along with a webcam. You'll get to add some cool ambient lighting to your live streams. The headband is also very comfortable, the headphones overall feel quite premium. I'm nit picking, but I would say the audio quality is the only thing holding these back from receiving a highly recommended mention from me. They lack bass, explosions, thuds, sound too tinny for my liking. Mid's are fine, not muddy and treble is crisp. Too crisp. I suppose they are great for competitive shooters, as you can hear every footstep around you and can tell the general direction they are coming from. But personally, I enjoy headphones that rock your skull when there is an explosion. All in All, these are very cool. I really like them. I'd buy a second pair. Playing on PC will give you the most control. Battery life is excellent and they recharge quickly. The microphone is crisp and clear. If I wasn't such an audio snob, I would give these a 5 star.
IF you are like me and my friends, then I would recommend these. I own a PC, PS5, Nintendo switch, Android tablet, iPhone, and this headset is compatible with all of it!

Superior Sound Quality - if you can use Synapse

I’ve been a fan of Razer gear for a long time. The only issue I really have with their products is the lack of support for Apple devices. Razer products do work with iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, but functionality is usually limited because their customization hub, Synapse, is only available for Windows devices. This is the only thing that kept these from getting a higher rating. That said, the Razer Kraken v4 are some of the best-sounding headphones I’ve used in a long time. I usually look at a few main areas when testing out headphones — comfort, functionality, and sound quality.
Comfort: The headset is light and the earpieces are fabric-lined. The ear cushions are very plush and the padded on the headband was soft enough that I didn’t notice the headbands at all. All the controls are easy to reach, but it was a little hard to distinguish between each of the buttons only by touch. It’s easy to pull the microphone out and replace it when you are done with it. As comfortable as they are, the earpieces are not very breathable and I found my easy getting quite warm the longer I was using them.
Functionality: As I already mentioned, Razer provides limited functions to Apple products, but it does have full features on Windows machines. I connected the headset using the 2.4Ghz receiver and the system set it as my input and output sound device. I downloaded Razer Synapse, the hub for all of Razer’s products, to my Surface Pro and it immediately detected the headset and gave me the option to select THX Spatial Audio in stead of the standard stereo. Then I unplugged it and connected it via Bluetooth to my iPad and was able to still enjoy the spatial surround sound feature. Razer Synapse stores settings directly into the device’s internal memory so customizations will still be accessible — even when you plug it into a different device. I learned about this little trick not too long ago with a different set of headphones and given Razer’s OS restrictions, I wasn’t sure if it would work with the Kraken’s but it did.
Operation of the headset — aside from the customizations you get with Synapse — is pretty standard. You turn the headset on by pressing and holding the power button located next to the USB-C port. I noticed that it went into pairing mode right away, but you can switch the connection method by double clicking the SmartSwitch button on the left ear piece. There are only two buttons on that side of the headset and the other is the game chat/balance button, which is much longer. I still found it a little hard to discern which button was which just by feel so it would be great if there was a raised bump on it or something like that to make it easier.
I love that the headset has an extendable microphone that can also be retracted when necessary. It seemed to work well and adjusting the sidetone within Razer Synapse also made it possible for me to hear myself talking in the microphone. This setting also carried over to my MacBook Pro when I switched input devices. I have been very impressed by how easy it is to switch devices by just clicking the SmartSwitch on the earpiece.
Sound Quality: With the THX Spatial Audio enabled, I was incredibly surprised about how wonderful everything sounded. I watched the opening five minutes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which has a wide array of sound effects and advanced sound design layered together. This is something I use to test sound quality with headphones and there were some sounds that came through much cleared than they do on other headphones. Then, I listened to the soundtrack from the Charlie Brown Christmas, which is a much older recording and it was still very clear and well-defined. Finally, I listened to tracks from Wicked (the film version) and was shocked how much the reverberation on certain notes came through. The sound quality is pure and you have the ability to fine-tune your settings in Synapse.
I think the Kraken headphones are well worth the investment. They are comfortable, built well and since settings save to the device itself, as long as you have the ability to use Synapse, you can use them on multiple devices and still have the same type of sound experience no matter what device you are using.

The Razer Kraken V4 headset is pretty awesome. The audio is very nice and you definitely get a rich experience in even standard mobile gaming. One of the things that they offer and advertise is THX Spatial audio and it's a neat immersive sound feature but that is reserved only for computer based scenarios and does require a downloaded companion app to work.
Now, there are games that will automatically have the THX special audio profile, and it will work with that within the game. There is a webpage that shows all the games, around 70-80, that have this certification and so you'll get the full experience with those games.
There's no mobile app solution for the THX Spatial Audio it does requires the hypersense adapter l. To change the rgb chroma settings and to do all the profiles, there's not a companion app for Android devices so again those changes can only be accessed via a computer app.
I should say, there is a Razer audio app in the Play Store, however, the Kraken V4 was not one in the list of supported devices and therefore I could not get the Kraken V4 headset to sync with app. However, there is a Hello Kitty kraken version that is!
As a standalone set of headphones, just watching movies through Netflix or whatever through your tablet phone etc, they do a fantastic job. Gaming sessions for a couple hours, no fatigue on your head. You do build up some warmth in your ears and Gets a little humid in there, but overall, it's a very comfortable headset.
The retractable mic is a fantastic addition and definitely is my favorite feature. It's an excellent mic, but the fact that you can just retract it and push it in and it's not in the way and you don't look like a goofball watching a movie with the boom sticking out in front of you.
Overall, definitely love the headset definitely tics all the boxes that I wanted it to for comfort, quality rgb lighting coolness!
I highly recommend it to anybody looking to get a serious gaming headset that can also feels just like a normal set of over-the-ear headphones when you want them too.

Razer Kraken V4 wireless gaming headset
The Razer Kraken V4 is a well-rounded gaming headset with excellent sound quality, comfort, and many interesting features. The THX Spatial Audio adds immersive depth when you’re playing on a Windows PC, and Its 40mm TriForce Titanium drivers deliver clear, high-definition audio on a console or PC. The versatility of this headset is quite nice; it works well with my PC and PS5, and it is pretty much plug-and-play on both devices. The Razer Synapse software on the PC added a level of adjustability to the sound and the light effects. The software has four equalizer options: Three presets and one flat line. All four equalizer options can be adjusted to your preference. The nine-zone Chroma lighting on the cans can be customized to your heart's content. This can provide some really awesome effects or some pleasantly subtle ones. The controls allow for multiple adjustments and allow the user hundreds of possible combinations.
The Razer Kraken V4 wireless gaming headset provides three modes of connectivity: ultra-fast 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or a wired USB connection. While the wireless connection using a USB-C dongle and direct wired USB connections works great, using the native Bluetooth is a bit finicky trying to connect up to either the PC or gaming console. If you have a free USB slot available, choose the direct connection or USB dongle. If you do decide to use the native Bluetooth connection, then select the one labeled Kraken V4 (chat ) and not the other labeled Kraken V4 (Games). Otherwise, you will get inexplicable crackles and drop-outs. I didn’t have any issues with the direct connect or the dongle and used them for gaming, listening to music, and videos or chatting smack while on Discord. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-C to USB-A adaptor for the dongle.
The sound quality was exceptional. There were good bass, treble, and mid tones. All the sounds associated with gaming were clear and crisp. The sense of sound all around you was immersive; the sound behind gave a good special effect of being truly behind you. The custom-tuned THX Game Profiles for over 60 games meant little set-up and maximum sound enjoyment. This provides a 7.1 surround sound experience, and in gaming, that is what makes it exceptional, providing you with a true position of where the sound is in relation to the position you are facing.
The headset is comfortable to wear for hours at a time. Memory foam in the ear cups makes them soft and ensures no pressure on the ears. They are covered in a mesh fabric that is exceptionally breathable. They also fit nicely and comfortably over glasses, to the point that you forget you are wearing them. The headset is light, and I often forgot I had them on. Because of how the headset is designed, the materials, and what seems like a custom fit, a lot of the room noise is blocked, but not to the point of blocking conversation in the room.
One nice feature is the retractable microphone. It is light, and unlike other headsets, you do not notice its presence. The sound quality was good in both console games and on the PC. The solid sound quality and the internal pop filter do a lot of heavy lifting. It also manages to filter out any extraneous noise.
One of the little features I appreciated was the rough texture of the on/off button, which makes it easy to find in the dark when you want to turn on or off the headset.
The manual has a poor font and color combination, and it was easier to find answers and instructions online.

Loud, but can’t handle to much over 2.4

Whether over Bluetooth, USB or 2.4 Ghz dongle, one thing is for sure, these things can put out some sound. I usually find myself trying to boost audio on some headphones, as they just don’t sound loud enough. These on the other hand I’ve actually had to use the volume knob to turn them down as they are louder than I can handle. They’re pretty comfortable as they hold snug to my head, but they might not sit well with a small head as they are on their shortest setting with my big head. They have a lot of extension which you would have to have an abnormally large head if you were to need that, just you can’t make them any smaller and if they set off the top of the head any, they start to lose that confort pretty quick.
You can have these connected by the hyperspeed 2.4Ghz dongle and Bluetooth at the same time and swap easily between them with a double tap of the mode button. However, if you are wired it is wired only. Also, sometimes it will have issues if it is connected by 2.4Ghz and you expect it to connect to your Bluetooth device, but it won’t connect until you double tap the button to force it into Bluetooth mode for a moment. Now, this does allow you to swap between them and it will interrupt the 2.4Ghz connection if a call comes through, but it is one or the other. Sometimes, it also has a tough time swapping back to the 2.4Ghz automatically, with all kinds of interesting sounds till it gets back to full audio.
The Razer Synapse and Croma software for PC is where you get to customize things, like EQ and mic audio as well as the coloring of the 9 LEDs on the sides. I feel the software is essential though, as the microphone audio, according to people I was playing with, sounded cheap and tiny, till the software changed things. However, I feel like the software and enabling THX spatial also caused too much traffic for the connection and constantly caused audio distortion. Especially when I am in audio chat and playing a game. I can clearly hear a difference when it is connected by USB though. When I disabled the audio features, the distortion went away for the most part. There were still occasional interruptions, which could just be 2.4Ghz congestion as well. Also, the LED lights are neat, but their color just does not seem to match what you pick. They always seem to be like a pastel version of the color as it is diffused. But, unless you are streaming and want to show off the Razer logo, there isn’t much purpose for them. Unless, you know, the RGB’s make you pro!
Overall, the 70 hour long battery life, without the LEDs on, the loud clear audio, better while wired, and the option to do 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth with the push of a button is nice. However, I am a little disappointed in the 2.4Ghz connection. Plus, the very strange and somewhat disturbing sounds it makes trying to swap back to the 2.4Ghz after a Bluetooth call makes me want to take off the headphones before it happens.

The Best Sounding Headphones Yet...

The Razer - Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset with 9 Zone Chroma RGB – For PC, Mac, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and Smartphone in black, are by far the best headphones I have ever used. I'ver gone through many over the years, and for hands down sound quality, these excel in every way. I used these on a PC for gaming and tested them on over a dozen different games. Each game was superior with these in terms of sound. Sound quality was balanced in every way. Bass was plentiful, mids came through clear, and the highs were crystal clear but not overbearing. Dialogue was realistic in every game I tested. Sound effects were near authentic and replicated perfectly. I still have a few other brands of headsets and switched back and forth between these and those while playing to compare the sound. Each time, the Razers were superior. Two of the brands I own were double the price to boot! Being wireless was so nice. Not having to deal with cables and getting tangled all over. I played all day long each time and never missed a beat. I detected near zero latency. The best I have experienced. I honestly can say these are hands down the best headset I have ever owned. I am super happy with them and they are an awesome buy in every way. Construction and design are top notch in every way. There are a must for any gamer on any format or console or PC. A clear winner!

Got mine just over a year ago and the sound is still amazing. The power lasts a long time, I charge them once every couple of weeks. And play roughly 2-3 hours a day. Comfortable and eliminates most of the sound around me. Would highly recommend them

I was really excited for these. I heard good things about the Razer Kraken and the first thing I noticed was how tinny everything sounded. I have a pretty decent soundbar and woofer at my house. It sounds full and rich, as soon as I switched to the headset on my PS5, I noticed how much it sounds tinny and lacks bass and the fullness I’m used to.
I attempted to connect it to the “Razer Audio” app and it didn’t connect. I wasn’t able to adjust the EQ from the mobile app at all. When I tried to connect it just wouldn’t find it despite having a successful connection to my iPhone. When I did a manual search for it, it wasn’t found. Looks like V2 “Kitty” versions are compatible with the app, but not V4.
I connected the headset to my gaming laptop and tweaked the EQ there to give it a more fuller sound using “Custom” because the Game, Movie, and Music presets are not good IMO especially with THX enabled. In stereo it’s not as bad, but then I worry I’m not getting 3D effects for movies and gaming. After adjusting the EQ, it saves the setting for PC and PS5 in the custom preset which is nice. Giving it a little more lows and mids did improve the audio fullness for me, but it still wasn’t quite up to what I’d want.
It does have good positional audio, in Call of Duty I was able to feel confident that I could locate footsteps on my PS5 and Call of Duty on PC. During a gaming session my wife called me and the game audio paused and said “Incoming call” which I was pleasantly surprised by. I answered the call. It muted the entire gaming sound for the call. I asked her about the audio quality of the mic and she said it sounds more scratchy than my ear buds. I then got on a discord call with a buddy of mine on PS5 and he said it also sounds somewhat more scratchy than he’s used to, but not bad. I was able to improve the mic quality using the mic settings and EQ in the Synapse software however and using some ‘enhancements’ that the app provides.
The lighting was nice, but I ultimately just turned it white instead of RGB and left it there. I don’t know if I appreciated the lighting effects compared to their other products.
I found it interesting there’s two audio devices, one “Game” and the other “Chat” which didn’t seem to change much for me in the sound profile, but perhaps I don’t know the purpose of them.
Lastly, the comfort. I used these for COD, Throne and Liberty, XDefiant, and Final Fantasy 16, and my ears eventually got hot, and a little uncomfortable after some time. It wasn’t bad, but I think they’re clamping force was a little too much on my ears. The passive noise cancellation was not bad either. Using the mic side-tone I was also able to hear myself talk which was nice, but it also picked up other audio. However turning on the mic noise cancellation helped.
Overall, I don’t hate them but the out of the box experience is not good and requires a lot of tweaking to get them decent. The reason why I’m giving them four stars is because I didn’t enjoy them out the box and it REQUIRES a PC to adjust the audio rather than just using the app, and the mic wasn’t as good as I had hoped. I do enjoy the mic retractability, but the sound from the mic left much to be desired. But since I did ultimately enjoy it after tweaking it, I bumped it from three stars to four. I really do wish it was a plug and play type of experience though. There was no firmware update either out the box which is a plus and a miss I think. They could fix a lot of these by changing the default state out the box for their users. I recommend it if you’re willing to take the time to adjust the settings to your liking which there is plenty of.

Omg I don't even know where to start. I love this headset so much! It's life changing. The surround sound with movies and gaming is so amazing. You literally hear everything it's so awesome. The beats on music go pretty hard if you like heavy metal, and rap like myself. You can customize the settings to your liking and adjust according. They're really comfortable as well. I wear them for 10+ hrs sometimes. I know right? We're all thinking it...what a nerd.
These truly are cool though. They give you the ability to listen to music, hear your game, and discord all at once. As long as you adjust your volume for each accordingly. I would highly recommend these headphones.

I traded in my kraken V3 pros for the V4 and wow what a mistake that was. To start with the pros the V4s are lighter with some great LEDs on the ears. Comfort is great which is one of the reasons I buy razors. Sound is alright but with the razor synapse software you can tweak the EQ. The retractable mic is neat so when your not using it its not in the way. The wireless dongle is type c and much smaller than the traditional usb. The range is great I can walk around most of myhouse even downstairs with no cutouts. Now for the cons. The bass is no where near comparable to the V3s even which EQ tweaks. Material appears cheaper and more fragile. The headset narration is very annoying, i dont need a voice in my ear telling me i muted my mic or switched the presets especially when it mutes all other sounds which can be problematic in game. There is no 3.5mm jack so i can use the headset for xbox anymore as compared to previous razor headsets. And for the biggest con of them all, the microphone quality is absolutely atrocious, i would compare it to using a kinect on xbox as a mic. The mic sounds horrible, every person i play games with says I should go back to my old headset. It pick ups every sound in the room and if you have mic monitoring on there is a constant static noise you hear. There no way to adjust this in the synapse sofeware besides a few presets they have but it doesnt do anything. As soon as i get time I will be returning these and finding a new headset brand. Its astounding to me that razor made a great headset (V3) and ruined it.

The headset itself is high quality and worth the price tag. I have recently done some shopping around for headsets and I ultimately decided to stay with this one, the sound quality is slightly a cut above slightly cheaper headphones, as well as the comfort of the headset (I have big ears and require large ear cushions for extended use, I have been using the razer kraken series for years for this reason) being better than most others as well. One issue with the headset is with the accompanying software, razer synapse has long been frustrating and annoying to use and using synapse with this head set is no exception.

Fantastic sound quality. You need to do some tweaking (don't bother with game mode in synapse) to make it sound better but even out of the box it isn't terrible at all. Very comfortable and I prefer this over the pro version because the pros get too hot when I am wearing them for long. Battery life is GREAT. Seriously I have charged it once since getting it and with RGB on and wireless I've played at least 20-30 hours without battery concerns.

First let’s start off by saying the packaging on these are great! Loved the experience opening it. Comes with everything you need to connect to usb a usb c. Overall I thought they were comfortable and had great integration with Razor products. The rgb lighting is super cool. I used to have A-50s that I bought like 5 years ago. These beat them by lots of categories. But I felt the sound wasn’t as immersive as I would like to get from premium gaming headsets from Razer. So I ended up returning them. The model above these have a new tech that vibrates with the sounds of the game. I want to save up for those.

Solid Headset for Gaming

I have been playing Helldivers 2 with the headset and it has given me solid performance. The headset has versatile connection options: wireless radio, Bluetooth and wired. It's easy to switch from Bluetooth to the wireless radio, and the option to go wired is good to have.
The 40MM driver gives good performance in terms of audio clarity and overall performance. The THX spatial audio technology works pretty well in the game, but somehow, it’s not that truly impressive. Microphone performance is great as people don’t have problems hearing my voice. So, in terms of gaming performance, the Kraken is a great headset.
Another thing that I like about the headset is the retractable microphone design, which makes it easier to store the headset. The overall design, however, is unmistakably geared more towards younger generations with flashy LED on the earcups. Also, there are cables visible connecting the headband to the earcups, which I find quite unappealing.
This headset is a solid choice for those who want to use it for gaming. But you might hesitate to use it outside your gaming room as a regular headset.
