Ultimate Controller for Competitive PC Gaming

I’ve been using the Wolverine V3 Pro (last year’s wireless version) for over a year, and it’s been by far my favorite controller. The new V3 Pro 8K Tournament Edition is nearly identical, except it’s wired, lacks rumble, and is incredibly fast and lightweight.
The lack of a battery and rumble motors makes this controller incredibly lightweight, yet it still feels premium. The completely blacked-out design avoids RGB entirely, providing a sleek, clean aesthetic. I never get fatigued using this controller, and with the wired connection it can last through the longest of marathon gaming sessions. The USB-C port on the controller is recessed and shaped to specifically fit the included Razer cable. Using your own cable may not fit properly. However, using the provided cable ensures a snug connection and protects the cable and port from breaking if the connector or cable is subjected to bumps.
The thumbsticks are Tunneling Magneto-Resistance (TMR) sensors, which are said to be an upgrade, but they are not as mature as the tried-and-true Hall Effect sticks, so time will tell if they hold up in terms of drift issues. The controller includes additional swappable caps: a short dome stick and a taller one. I prefer the longer stick for precision aiming in FPS games.
The adjustable triggers are probably my favorite feature. Each has a switch to shift between full analog Hall Effect mode for games like racing, and a short mouse-click style digital mode which is perfect for FPS games. Razer has been developing mice longer than controllers, and it shows, as even the face buttons themselves have that clicky mouse-like feel.
There are four non-removable but remappable back paddles that do not get in the way as they can on other controllers. I map each of the ABXY face buttons to these so I do not need to take my thumb off the right stick. Between the triggers are two claw-grip style remappable buttons as well.
Playing with the controller is a dream. I forget very quickly that I’m tethered to my gaming computer, and I don’t miss the rumble vibrations at all. In Fortnite and Halo, I’m honestly just terrible, so while I probably got a few more hits in, it didn’t magically make me good. But in Rocket League, I felt more competitive immediately. It seemed easier to maintain control, and I was able to make contact with the ball more often than I’m used to, especially in those quick reflex situations where you need to be fast to block a shot.
Razer now fully supports customizing their PC controllers with Synapse 4, so you no longer need to install a separate application. You can remap the aforementioned buttons, adjust the polling rate from 250Hz to 8000Hz, toggle the D-pad between 4 and 8-directions, and customize or calibrate the sticks.
There are four profiles available for the on-board memory, and you can switch to any on the fly. I was able to play Rocket League on both Fedora and Ubuntu, so the controller does work with Linux, and I was able to use the settings that had been saved in Synapse on Windows.
In my opinion, there are no downsides provided you know what you are getting. This controller is made for competitive players who strive for ergonomics, speed, and accuracy, and refuse to compromise on anything to get it. If you are not one of those and need wireless or Xbox support, Razer makes a controller that does that.
Pros:
-Incredibly Lightweight
-8000Hz HyperPolling Wired Connection
-Premium Build Quality
-Remappable Buttons: 4 Paddles and 2 Bumpers
-TMR Thumb Sticks
-Swappable Stick Caps
-Customization with Razer Synapse Software
-Works on Linux
Cons:
-Only works on PC
Overall, the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K is an impressive gaming controller for PC players. Its speed, precision, and feather-light feel easily make up for the lack of wireless and rumble support. For anyone serious about playing competitively on controller, I do not think it gets any better.

A Great Wired Pro Controller for PC Gamers

I’ve been using the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition for my PC and, honestly, it’s one of the better wired controllers I’ve picked up in some time. If you play competitively or just hate input lag, this thing feels built for that exact purpose; everything about it screams responsive, customizable, and reliable.
Out of the box the Wolverine V3 feels solid. Unlike some of Razer’s other products this controller doesn't have that overly “gamer aesthetic” and is just simple and clean. The texture of the controller is a nice matte plastic on the front and the back has a raised dimple pattern texture for a better grip, that isn't rubber so you don't have to worry about it peeling off over time. The controller is lighter compared to other “Pro” controllers I have used and is great for long gaming sessions. The ergonomics of this controller fits perfectly in my hands and the button layout is very intuitive.
One design detail I liked is the placement of the extra buttons. There are 6x re-mappable buttons total. 2x buttons on the top near the bumpers/triggers, and 4x buttons on the back. The top two are perfectly positioned for quick presses from your index fingers, and the rear four give you a ton of mapping options without moving your fingers from the sticks. That being said, the four buttons on the back are not removable, so you can’t swap or relocate them but you can disable or not mapped it, if you don't want to use it. The triggers on this controller also have trigger stops and when those are switched on, they become mouse click triggers where it has a shorter travel distance and feels like you are clicking a mouse.
I’ve been playing a lot of Battlefield 6 and having the ability to map 6 additional buttons without taking my thumbs off the joysticks has been a huge advantage. Mapping the buttons in the Razer Synapse app is super easy and you can even map keyboard keys to the controller, along with making macros.
Razer includes two replaceable thumbsticks, one dome shaped stick and one longer stick. Swapping them isn't as straightforward compared to other “pro” controllers, in that there is a tiny gold arrow pointing down that has to be facing 6 o’clock towards you in order for it to lock into place. One minor gripe that I had was that the included thumbsticks are a tad small for my thumbs. If you have wider thumbs or prefer a larger stick surface, you might want to get a third-party cap.
The braided USB-C to USB-A cable that is included feels premium and is long enough to reach from my PC to where I sit at my desk. My nitpick with it is that the USB-C cable port has a thick rectangle design and the port on the controller is raised up and is not flushed to the controller. Because of this you basically have to use this cable, unless you already have a thin USB-C cable. In regards to my situation, I have a bunch of USB-C cords already cable managed from my desk to my PC, so I had to go through the process of removing a bunch of cable ties and removing the existing cables to add Razer's cable (first world problem, I know Ha).
Where this controller really stands out is the 8K Hz HyperPolling and the new TMR thumbsticks. In practice that 8K polling rate translates to incredibly snappy stick movements that feels like they register instantly and are fine tuned for the most precise in game control. The TMR thumbsticks use magnetic detection instead of traditional physical friction-based sensors, which allows for no physical wear on sensors, more consistent input accuracy over time, and a longer lifespan. The TMR thumbsticks also contribute to that overall crispness. They feel precise and very consistent in return to center, and never having to worry about stick drift. This is also a huge selling point, because I’ve probably gone through 7 controllers over the 5 years that have broken down due to stick drift. So, this controller will give that peace of mind going forward.
Pros;
Low input latency with 8K Hz HyperPolling.
TMR thumbsticks deliver precise, drift resistant stick control.
6x re-mappable buttons give you a lot of customization.
Comfortable ergonomics for extended play sessions.
Mouse click buttons for better responsiveness.
Cons;
The four back buttons are not removable.
Included thumbsticks are a bit small for larger thumbs
The USB-C port is not flushed so not all USB-C cables will fit.
Overall, the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition feels like a controller made for players who prioritize speed, precision, and reliability above everything else. It’s not perfect, due to the fixed back buttons, small included thumbsticks, but its performance advantages easily outweigh those little nitpicks. Between the 8K polling rate, crisp TMR thumbsticks, and the customization options, this has become my main go to controller for competitive games.

Crazy light and responsive controller

Picking up this controller for the first time and holding it for a second, I could tell I was going to like it. It's incredibly light but doesn't feel cheap and everything feels like it's in the right place. I am usually not a fan of back triggers because my fingers just don't hit them properly but these were just perfectly placed right off the bat.
Setup was super easy. Plug it in and you're done. I'm using this on my PC so I got a popup for installing the Razer software when I plugged it in. The controller works fine without the software, but you get customization features like mapping the extra buttons to be pretty much anything you want. Keyboard shortcuts, macros, you name it and those six extra buttons can do it, pretty much.
Again, the feel of the controller in my hands just feels really good. I can't overstate how light it is and how much I didn't realize I would enjoy a light controller. I think I've always associated light with cheap feeling and this just doesn't feel that way. The buttons, thumbsticks and triggers all still feel very premium inside this light package.
Speaking of the inputs, the face buttons all have a very nice soft clicky feel to them. Not mushy or too firm or anything. They press nicely, they have a really soft click and they bounce back great. The triggers have an optional switch to lock them so they have no travel which makes them feel very mouse-like. All of the six extra buttons also have a very nice mouse click feel to them as well. The thumbsticks are a new TMR technology which is basically better hall-effect so you don't have to worry about stick drift and they feel incredibly smooth and responsive in game.
I can't think of anything bad to say about this controller. Maybe I would have liked to see a USB-C port that was flush with the controller? As is, there's a bit of a support mold protruding around the USB-C port that fits the included cables perfectly. It's probably meant to support that cable and stop it from being easy to pull out or possibly get bent, but it also means using other cables might not work for you.
All that said, this is definitely my new daily driver on my PC. The only reasoning I can give to not give this controller a shot is if you're dead set on something wireless. If you're playing nearby your device, though, definitely give this a look as it just feels and works like a premium controller.

Ultra light ultra precise PC gaming controller

This controller feels so comfortable in my hands that I don't think I'll use anything else again. The Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K PC controller is ultra fast and responsive, and you can fine-tune it for even more precision.
First, using this controller I immediately noticed it was ultra-responsive and fairly lightweight. It feels good in the hands and is ergonomically correct. Ultra-low latency response is essential for the speed of modern games. This controller has 8000Hz polling rate and it is practically in its interactions with what is happening in my FPS an action games. The TMR Thumbsticks with swappable caps allow you to customize the feel to your preference. Razer provides an interchangeable design that includes two types of thumbstick caps with a shorter cap for more speed, and a taller cap for more precision. The controller weighs in at 198g and fits most hand sizes fairly well. This wired E-Sports controller, with its comfortable grip and lightweight design, is made for all-day play. Because it uses a USB-A to USB-C connection that measures 2 meters in length, you maintain control and never worry about low batteries or running out of charge. There are 4 mouse click back buttons and 2 claw grip bumpers, 6 remappable buttons to outplay the competition. The Razer mecha-tactile action buttons and 8 way floating D-Pad feels very smooth and has tactile feedback which proves useful across all the games and genres that I've played. The Razer Synapse 4 software is a must have so you can customize the controller buttons to your liking. Synapse 4 allows you to further refine and customize this controller to suit your specific needs. Control the sensitivity of the thumbsticks with how much pressure is the right touch for your finger tips, map out each and every one of the buttons to do what you need them to do and how much pressure to apply, and calibrate the thumbsticks to be precise so you don't lose any time finding that target in your crosshairs.
This is the upgrade I have been looking for over the standard Xbox controller I have been using for PC gaming. The Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K PC Controller is a true ally and resource for gaming and makes me more accurate and quicker to respond to the fast paced action in all my games.

Great wired controller. Feels sturdy and very well made, quality and feel is great, no creaks or movement. The first thing that struck me was how lightweight the controller is. Not having an internal rechargeable battery does shave a lot of weight. They include a nice braided (a little bit stiff) type C to A USB cable (its just 6 feet, I wish it was a longer). The controller is basically plug and play, you can plug it to your PC and start gaming. However if you want to fully customize it, you can install Razer's Synapse 4 (its on beta). I did. Although its on a "beta" state, it worked just fine and I did not see any issues with it. Once you install the software you can test the thumbs sticks, customize buttons, set your polling speed. On this matter, it supports up to 8khz polling rate. Supposedly giving you the fastest response, however, as a human, I did not feel any difference, I guess since its tournament ready, you want all the advantages you want in a tournament setting. Bare in mind though, the higher the polling rate, the higher the CPU usage is, so your PCs performance may vary due this... I was fine with just 1khz polling rate.
I love how clicky the face buttons are and they make a nice clicky sound, the D-pad too. Now, for me, the star of the show are the TMR thumb sticks, these are basically using magnetism to work, no more old style potentiometers. What's the advantage? No more STICK DRIFT over time. The thumbstick will work and wont drift ever. Oh, they also include a couple of thumb sticks replacements (one larger one and one shorter one, each with different tops, one concave, one convex). I was fine withe stock ones.
Only cons I could find were maybe the include cable could be longer and maybe it could have a compartment for a removable battery, giving you the choice of using it wired for full 8khz polling speed or if you insert your battery and in wireless mode, lower polling rate. Just that, give the choice to the user.

A true competitor for tournament controller king

I've always been a fan of the Razer Wolverine controllers. When it comes to PC controllers, the Wolverine model are considered some of the best. While I have (my personal) gripes, I'm not surprised the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is a solid controller.
First my gripes. I absolutely hate light controllers. As someone who's used to premium controllers, which, are normally wireless, I'm accustom to my controllers having some weight. The Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition being wired doesn't require a battery, making it lighter. Haptics? Non-existent, again, making it lighter. Now, Razer highlights the controllers weight as "Razer's lightest wired esports controller," making long gaming sessions easier, which, makes sense. This also explains the lack of haptics...as a "tournament" controller, why would you want additional shaking throwing things off? Knowing what you're purchasing is key.
Now the positives...buttons, buttons, buttons, all easily reachable, all programmable. Through the Razer Synapse app you can program the 4 back paddles, as well as the two mouse buttons up top (which, are a great addition). For beginners, they start disabled, allowing you to set them up as you grow accustom to having them. You can adjust your thumb sticks sensitivity, as well as switch your dpad from standard to circular. So much customization all the way down to tweaking your polling rate. This is truly a "tournament style" controller.
For some, the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8k may have too much depth, but, at the price point, I'd strongly recommend it as a pickup for anyone. As a regular controller it's super responsive and features all the buttons you could ask for. If you grow into the customization, great, if not, you still have a great controller. Yes, it's missing some of my preferences, but those preferences cost, and, don't improve your game.

So I've been gaming with this controller for a few days now, and I have some thoughts to share. Firstly, if you are looking for a wireless controller, this one is not for you. I typically prefer wireless controllers, but honestly I spend a lot of time with my controllers connected with a wire anyway ( to charge them) so the fact that this control is Wired is not a deal breaker for me. But there is an advantage to playing with a wired controller. You'll theoretically have 0 Latency. At least from your controller. Your internet connection will dictate whether or not you will have latency as well. But what that means is that this controller has instant response time. Which is crucial for competitive gaming.Especially fighting games, and first or third person shooters. Every millisecond counts when pressing the buttons for your next move. Most people probably won't care or think about that factor, but I think once you experience gaming with a wired controller like this for a while, You'll notice that something feels different the next time you go play with a bluetooth connected controller. The Razer Wolverine V3 is quite comfortable to hold for extended periods, the joysticks are very responsive. The D Pad is nice and clicks while rolling smoothly into the diagnal presses. Great for old school side scrollers or fighting games. This control has a ton of buttons on it, which are customizable with your PC games. It has your standard LB LT, RB RT, but it also has an additional M1 and M2 buttons. But they are small, and sometimes I find myself hitting the shoulder bumper while reaching to press the M button on top. But that is just my personal experience and I can see others appreciating the extra buttons ontop. On the back of the controller are 4 paddles. Which can also be personalized, They are small so accidental presses happen less often. I don't find myself using those too often as well, but like I mentioned before.. that's just personal preference. You might appreciate them more than I do. My brain is just wired to use the standard control layout found on most modern consoles, so I have to teach my brain to use them more often. My only complaints about this control are that 1. It is almost too "lightweight", I like my controls to have some heft to them and be a little bigger. I have large hands. 2. The ABXY buttons have a mushy like response to them. Mushy is maybe the wrong word, but they don't have much travel I guess? They don't feel very tactile to me. Perhaps after a couple of weeks with this control, I'll learn to adapt to them. For now, they just feel different and I find myself pressing the buttons a little harder than I need to sometimes. Besides that, this control is great. The shoulder buttons are responsive, the joysticks have a smooth roll and are also very responsive.
All in all though, I really like this control. And it will be my go to for PC gaming online. I don't mind wired controls. It saves my money on batteries, and I appreciate the 0 latency. It's been great for playing rocket league and battlefield 6 online. I think this control deserves to be on your short list of controllers for PC gaming.

The Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition 8K ships with a detachable USB-C to A cable and two swappable thumbstick end caps. The absence of an internal battery and rumble motor makes the controller noticeably lighter than my similarly designed wireless X-Box style controllers.
The controller is managed through the Razer Synapse app. The Synapse app gives me the ability perform button mappings, calibrate the controls, assign macros, and update the firmware. Most buttons on the grips and face can be remapped.
The Wolverine TE 8K performs well during gaming. The 8K polling rate is most noticeable in my racing games. It gives me pinpoint steering accuracy and helps keep the car more controlled and avoiding loss of control from overcompensating. The TMR Hall Effect sticks provide smooth consistent control with no signs of drift or loose performance. I can also assign buttons at will to make certain commands and features more convenient.
I mostly keep the grip underside buttons disabled because it’s easy to accidentally hit them if not needed. They do come in handy in certain games, but need to be enabled in Synapse to be detected in game settings. The controller has two slide locks that enable a feature calls hypertriggers. It reduces trigger travel to allow instant response like a hair trigger in shooters. The controller also has adjustable dead zones and an adjustable sensitivity clutch for when aiming or pinpoint accuracy is a must.
The Wolverine TE 8K has helped me improve my gaming with nice tight controls with tons of customizable ability. It has a comfy ergonomic form factor and the light weight makes it comfy and easy to use during gaming. It’s tethered and doesn’t have a vibration feedback, but I can live with both. The plus side is that the braided nylon cable isn’t bad during gaming and doesn’t get in the way. It also ensures I won’t get a low battery notification during online gaming where I can’t immediately stop to swap batteries.

I was a tiny bit skeptical of all the rave reviews

I play a lot of PC games on my free time(I have plenty) and I usually play a mix of call of duty, battlefield 6 and many different story mode games. But I love FPS and have been playing for over 20 years. So I wanted to try a different controller and decided on this razer TE, I was a little skeptical from reading every single review saying “it’s the best they ever used” lol. But I have several razer products but never their gaming controller and it really is the best thus far. First let me start by saying if you can’t get the extra buttons programmed on the razer controller app, use the synopsis app and look for devices and you can set up the extra buttons the way you like it. This thing has 6 mappable buttons, that crazy huh!? Not really I found uses for the extra top 2 buttons and they help a lot. You can adjust the dead zone, d-pad and the triggers and many other things you like. I don’t mess with too many settings once I find a sweet spot. This controller touts a 8k hyperpolling which I set to but was given a warning that it may impact cpu performance so keep that in mind. For me it’s super responsive and very accurate. The buttons are tactile and click like a mouse. This is probably the lightest controller I’ve owned thus far and it feels like the perfect size as I have larger hands. It’s simple black with no unnecessary RGB and looks clean. It is wired which I prefer, I notice issues with my wireless connection on another branded controller. Swapped caps as well but I like it the way it comes. It’s hard to explain exactly how the game feels while using this but I will say it’s more like a mouse in the form of a controller. Weird to say but it’s true. This definitely is the best controller I have ever used and I have tried many different brands. I’ll stick with this one from now on. Also the price is very reasonable for how good it is. A definite recommendation if you play FPS especially. But is great all around. I do wish they included a case but for the price I understand.

Fast and responsive, but geared to competition

IN THE BOX
You get the controller, two caps for the thumbsticks and a USB cable. The USB cable is type C on the end that plugs into the controller, the other is type A that plugs into a typical USB port. There’s no case, no travel bag or anything like that. While most controllers don’t come with one, and you might not travel with yours, at this price point, I do expect a few extras. A storage case would be nice if for no other reason than to store the thumbstick caps.
THE “FEEL” AND BUILD QUALITY
Like all Razer products, this controller is extremely well built. It feels good in the hand. But the first thing you will notice is how incredibly light it is. Primarily because there’s no battery.. I’ve never been one to think a heavier controller is a bad thing or otherwise causes fatigue, so the lightness of the controller is a matter of personal preference.
The buttons all feel extremely responsive and clicky. The back paddles are appropriately placed and when using a standard grip, I never hit them accidentally.
There’s quite frankly, an obscene amount of buttons when compared to a traditional Xbox or PS controller. If you aren’t used to them, it can take some time to train your mind to use them. I’ve only recently gotten used to using two back paddles on a PS5 Edge controller. The extra buttons, which are entirely customizable, are really nice insomuch as they’re there for those who are used to them or want to learn how to use them, and if you don’t want to, you don’t have to. There’s your standard 4 bumpers on the top for your pointer fingers, as well as two additional buttons (one on each side) and on the back, you have four paddle buttons (2 on each side).
THE TMR THUMBSTICKS
This controller has TMR or tunneling magnetoresistance thumbsticks. This is newer technology then the famous Hall Effect joysticks. I can’t speak to the technology itself, other than to say the thumbsticks are extremely smooth in all directions. They are extremely precise (something you can test within the Razer app). There is absolutely no friction. They are really precise, especially in shooters like Call of Duty. I can’t say it made me a better player, but I could honestly tell the difference in playing with this controller. I didn’t have to adjust any deadzone, out of the box it worked phenomenally.
PERFORMANCE
This controller is advertised as having 8K polling. That means the controller reports its position 8,000 times a second (vs. the standard 1,000). I’ll be honest, I couldn’t tell the difference. It’s supposed to mean that the controller is “snappier” and might move more smoothly, but in fast pace games I couldn’t really tell the difference. That’s not to say it doesn’t present benefits over the standard controller, I just think for casual players, it’s not something you will necessarily notice.
The buttons all very tactile and clicky like a computer mouse would be. This makes shooting ina FPS for example, really quick and can make the difference between getting defeated and winning a one on one. I honestly prefer the squishy-ness of the standard controller, but at the same time, these clicky buttons are better performers in the sense of taking actions quicker.
WIRED FACTOR
The big downside of this controller in my opinion, is the fact that it’s wired. If you are gaming on a PC and the tower is close to where you sit, this probably isn’t an issue. The 10ft cable is plenty long enough for most applications. But you never have to worry about batteries dying. After a while, you don’t even notice it.
CUSTOMIZATION
This controller’s flexibility and customization options are its big benefit. I’m not one to really dig in and mess with the default settings, mostly because I have little time to game and just want to game (vs. messing with controller settings). But for those that want to customize their controller, the options are there and it’s pretty easy and straightforward to do. The Synapse app is where you can monitor all your Razer devices and the app you would download on your PC to adjust the settings. Once you plug your controller in, you’ll be prompted to download the app unless you already have it. Once it’s downloaded, you’ll see the controller in your devices and you can easily adjust all your settings. You can map certain buttons and actions to specific games. And you have the ability to create profiles (i.e. FPS shooters, driving games, etc.).
CONCLUSION
This is a quality controller that honestly, most casual gamers might not fully appreciate. If you’re not going to take advantage of all the customizable buttons, and aren’t interested in having the latest tech to give you a competitive online edge, it could be overkill. The price point is higher than most “normal” controllers, but competitively priced amongst the “competitive” controllers. It’s wired, which in my mind limits it to PC use, although you could use it for an Xbox (I simply don’t want to sit that close to my TV). Otherwise, it’s a great all around controller for virtually all games.

Great Quality - Light and Corded Controller

I have been using the Razer Wolverine 8K Tournament Edition for about a week now, and it feels great. For the past couple of years, I have only used a PS5 controller, and while it was definitely good, it annoyed me because of how big it felt in my hands. It required programs so I could use it on certain games on PC. Since I always try to be the best I can possibly be in games, this Razer controller is perfect. Something I noticed pretty quickly is how unique this controller is. The buttons have a mouse-click sensation, and even though it felt a little weird at first, it actually made the controller feel more responsive. After the first day, it already felt normal, and now it’s one of the reasons I enjoy using it so much.
The grip on the back is helpful, especially when I’m playing competitive games. It is the perfect size for my hands, which makes it easy to play for long sessions without feeling tired or cramped. The controller is also very light. While that is not the most important thing, it still feels like a premium product and helps you focus on the game. The controller needs to be plugged in to be used, but I don’t mind because it was made for competitive gaming. A wired connection is much better than a wireless one because it eliminates delay, and I don’t worry about charging it. On top of that, the wire is braided so it should last a long time -- it's also a nice length so it's not in my way.
Overall, I found that this controller is an upgrade over many other controllers I've used in the past -- I'm very happy with it!

Competitive Feel With Casual-Friendly Setup

This is my first introduction to Razer’s Wolverine line, and the V3 Tournament Edition shows why these controllers are often considered some of the best for PC. It’s clearly designed with competitive players in mind, but still feels accessible for casual gamers who just want a solid, responsive controller.
The first thing I noticed was how lightweight this controller is. The buttons are very responsive and have a satisfying “clicky” feel. Everything is easily reachable and fully programmable through the optional Razer Synapse application. The four back paddles and two top “mouse” buttons are mappable for custom quick inputs or key bindings. These extra buttons start disabled by default, which is nice so you can get used to the controller feel before adding complexity or risking accidental mispresses.
For truly competitive players, you can tweak thumbstick sensitivity, swap between different thumbsticks, and even adjust polling rate all the way up to 8,000Hz (hence the 8k moniker!) which makes input response nearly instantaneous.
Build quality is excellent for a wired controller in this price range. The 10-foot cable is lightweight and durable, and the grips feel sturdy without being heavy. Having the controller be wired does limit range, but the tradeoff is worth it for reduced input lag.
Overall, the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is a well-built, ultra-responsive wired controller that balances deep customization with plug-and-play simplicity, making it a strong pick for both competitive and casual gamers alike.

Gets the Job Done

This is your very basic controller that gets the job done. If you are looking for a very simple basic controller, this might be one to consider.
Build Quality and Feel:
The build quality is very good for what it is. It is made entirely of plastic, so it doesn’t have that high quality feel that other controllers have with rubber grips or the sort. It is extremely lightweight, so you must like that kind of feel. I personally like a heavier controller but that is personal taste.
Buttons:
This has your standard PC controller buttons and four back buttons that I find always getting in the way and I am constantly pressing them by accident. I personally never like using back buttons for anything and disable them when I can, but I know I am always pressing them. They have almost no resistance at all. The thumb sticks feel like other controllers with the right amount of movement and resistance. The buttons are the clicky kind which I don’t prefer over other soft buttons, but like everything else that is personal taste, and you should consider this as part of your purchase (same as weight as well). The triggers feel standard with very light touch and light resistance. The bumper buttons are a little harder to press and feel like clicky buttons without the sound. You can change the trigger to FPS setting which gives them the loud clicky sounds and feel like the other buttons. It comes extra with one tall concave thumb stick, and one short convex thumb stick.
Cable:
It comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable. It is covered in fabric but is very stiff, much more than it should be. It is also short, so you need to be sitting close to your computer to use it. You can buy a longer USB-C cable if you want to. This is obviously a wired controller, so the cable must be always used.
Case:
What can I say, it doesn’t come with one. For the extra thumb sticks, there is nowhere to put them when you are not using them.
App:
This uses the Razer Synapse application. For customizing it, you need to have this app installed. If you already have other Razer products and already have Synapse installed, this may be appealing to sticking with a controller that also uses that app. You can disable the back buttons as well as the extra small buttons next to the bumper buttons. The polling rate can be changed to different values between 250Hz to 8000Hz. You can change the D-Pad between 8-way and 4-way. This is a great feature if you play retro arcade games that were only designed to use 4-way joysticks. You can adjust the dead zone as well as the sensitivity. You can change the circular mode between normal smoothing the motion to create a more rounded movement. You can also calibrate the thumb sticks. Finally, you can test all the thumb sticks and the D-Pad in the app.
Finally:
There is not much more to this controller. It is very basic controller with a cheaper feel and basic customization. I do play retro arcade games, so I appreciate being able to set the D-Pad to 4-way. My conclusion is this get the job done, but at too expensive price point for what you get. Unless cost doesn’t matter and you are already in the Razer ecosystem with Synapse installed, there are other basic controllers that do the same as this but at a much lower cost.

Great Performance for Gamepad Gamers

The gamepad is meant for competitive gaming. It comes with a USB C cable at generous length of more than 78 inches. Although I don't participate in esports competitions, I frequently play multiplayer FPS games for extended periods.
The gamepad is light since it does not have any battery. The ergonomics are good. The joystick is smooth, but it initially felt like I needed to adapt to it since the travel in my other gamepads felt more natural and smoother. The travel is such I think because it prioritizes control for a more precise movement in the game. The buttons are stiffer than I prefer.
The gamepad is huge on buttons. It has many buttons to customize. I don’t really use all of them but it’s great for those who need to assign buttons or macros to gain competitive advantage in the game. Triggers’ travel are adjustable and the joysticks’ cap is also swappable. The accompanying software allows for a very deep customization.
The polling/ sampling rate is very impressive. It supports 8K hyper polling for ultra-low latency response. This feature is not pre-activated so user needs to make the necessary adjustments through the accompanying software. I play Helldivers 2 with the 8K hyper polling activated and have been having great time.
This wired gamepad is an excellent choice for gamepad gamers seeking enhanced performance in competitive gaming environments.
Like:
Very deep customization
8K hyper polling/ ultra low latency response
More buttons than I currently need: future proof
Don’t like:
Button press and joystick travel need some adapting

This gaming controller has been performing amazingly since opening just over a week ago. The first thing I notice when unboxing was the matte black finish. This finish puts a nice touch on my gaming set up. Once unboxing and plugging in via USB C I was ready to jump in almost immediately. The controller is feather light (198g) and has a gaming controller feel as it mimics a typical console controller. It is also noted to be ergonomic which is helps fir the natural shape of your hand.
Response rate was as expected and I noticed little to no latency. This controller has multiple bindable buttons that are accessible through the companion software app. There are even mouse "back buttons" that have a real crips click to them..yet another nice touch.
Once small thing about the controller that I didn't like was that it feels a tad slippery. When I game my palms can get sweaty and this does not bode well with this controller, not a major upset but more or less an inconvenience and from what I can see this may not apply to all users.
All in all this controller is pretty middle of the road. Great performing and fitting but nothing mind blowing. If you are looking for a console feeling controller for your PC then this is the pick for you!

Great Controller For FPS

Writing this review I have to sit an ask myself how I feel about this product. Do I like it? Is it good does it do what it intends to do and how good does it do it.
This controller leaves me feeling very contradictory, in some aspects it’s great and it does it exactly what it promises but in some ways I really don’t like it, and that may be more of a personal thing than anything else.
Let me start with ergonomics I find the controller incredibly comfortable, it just fits in the hands so well and all the buttons are so easily accessible, but here lies my first issue and that the back buttons, I don’t need them in every game and because they just mold into the grips they become so easy to press and when I’m playing a game that I don’t need them they just kind of get in the way.
Besides that all the buttons are incredibly responsive and the sticks are incredibly accurate.
Being a wired controller does take some of the weight that I usually like a controller to have but overall when playing fps games I really enjoy the controller. When I play other games controller just feels like overkill.
Now the controller won’t make you a better player you won’t be able to blame your gear at least.

I've owned the Xbox Elite Series 2, Dual Sense Edge, a DIY Extremerate customized Dual Sense (4 back buttons), and this Razer Wolverine v3 TE 8K is my favorite out of all those controllers. I mostly play using all of the extra buttons (4 back buttons and 2 extra bumpers) so I never have to take my thumbs off the thumbstick while playing Apex Legends. I get comments often from other controller players saying that my movement seems effortless during hectic fights. This controller changed the game for me.
There are certainly more budget friendly pro controllers, but none offer the same amount of extra remappable buttons or the perfect placement of those extra buttons.

I have all the scuf controllers, but this is the most responsive, the most accurate controller when it comes to playing call of duty. Does take time to adjust to the paddles. Just buy it dont think about it
