This rode mic is an awesome add on for my cannon 70D! It is a hyper directional mic that focuses on sound directly infront of the microphone's orientation, and tunes out sound coming from all other directions very effectively. It is not the best mic on the market, but one feature I love about this mic is that it does not require any batteries...simply plug in to your camera and you're good to go!

I honestly heard no difference between this mic and the rode mic go. Yes, it had great sound quality and voices are clear, but there is that annoying hissing sound in the background. The camera I used was a canon t5i and I know it's the camera's fault. In order to completely rid of that sound is to get the rode mic PRO which I highly recommend way more than this. I just think it's dumb to spend almost an extra $100 to get rid of the hissing noise..

The only reason I can’t give this mic a five star review is simply because the frame itself is a bit flimsy and the mic foam falls off regularly. That could easily be solved with a small piece of double stick tape but kind of annoying. Outside of that, this mic is well worth the money. Sound is great, it’s got great sensitivity while not being too obtrusive while mounted on the camera. Even with the minor complaint, I would still recommend.

Reasonable price. Pretty good quality. Wasnt sure if it was the mic or my camera causing some static though.

I'm sure there are clearer sounding mics out there but this one kept the noise out in a semi quiet environment (dogs, cars, etc) and was pretty easy to use. Was worth it in my opinion.

Really no better attachable mic for the price. Bought this for my daughter who is in school for journalism and wanted a better way to capture b roll and interviews. It drastically improved the audio to some of the lapel mics and obvious built in mics on her dslr.
Had it for several months now and she loves it and has no complaints. Ps, she’s dropped this mic several times (don’t recommend this)and it’s still plugging away like a champ.

Great sound quality far better than the internal mics of my panasonic G7. My only complaint which is really my own fault was not realizing this is a mono stereo mic, not stereo audio. If your looking for 2 channel stereo audio this is not it, but is great for interviews etc.

No complaints, rode mics are known worldwide as some of the best and most popular professional mics.
Records clean audio but I still recommend additional lav mics for interviews/subjects or if in a studio just use a professional cardioid hanging mic with a pop filter. Dynamic mics are great as well.
These other options work better than the shotgun mic when used properly in close proximity to subjects vocal projection and then edited into the video during post.

The microphone works great to pick up the voices and sounds that I want from athletic events. It fits perfectly on the jack on the top of the camera. Great price and great product.
