Purchased this microphone to make vlogs and videos on my iPhone sound more professional then the on board microphone. The build quality of this microphone is very good and you can tell it's not a cheap knock off item. The microphone improved the quality of the sound on my videos and the included windscreen is good when shooting videos outdoors in windy locations. The only con I have to say about this microphone is that you must remove any phone cover on the phone. I have a very slim Apple cover on my phone and it restricted the microphone lightning connector from fully setting into the phone. I ordered a extension connector from Amazon and now I can use the mic without removing my phone case.

I am completely new to recording videos using my iPhone; this microphone is very easy to use, compact, and records with great quality.

I'd say the microphone was helpful in focusing the audio I wanted to pick up... however, it broke the moment I took it out of the camera.

This is a great little mic that easily plugs into the iPhone's lightning bolt port. The sound quality is very decent if you are someone that likes to send voice memos or even do voice over for videos on social media. I can only see one downside and that is that the mic doesn't fit over a lot of cell phone cases.

I purchased this for a last minute mini-doc I was asked to film - it was my first project of such and I didn't want to rely on my phone microphone, or I at least wanted to have options. This condenser mic did the job, I used it for a handheld interview portion. Would recommend for amateur filmmakers, or mobile filmmakers. The only negative is that I can't use it simultaneously while my phone is in the gimbal.

I've tried to love this mic, but overall, it provides very little audio benefit, the mounting is poorly designed & it costs too much. First, the pros. The metal build quality is excellent. It feels like a sturdy, substantive & quality product. The price is also under <$100. Now, onto the laundry list of cons. Even at <$100, it costs too much for what you get. The new iPhone 13 has an excellent mic that picks up clear audio whether using Voice Memo or videos. The VideoMic ME-L does marginally better at filtering out background noise with the deadcat. HOWEVER, the shockproof mount is so flimsy that the mic tilts forward & your deadcat shows up in the top of your video frame! Without the deadcat, the sound quality differences bw the iPhone 13 mic and this VideoMic are imperceptible. Similarly, this small mic does marginally better at filtering out background noise on a Canon DSLR; however, using the hotshoe mount - expect to find the deadcat in the top of your video frame!!! If you Google, you can find video & online reviews of how to tie the mic into place so it doesn't droop in its flimsy mounting bracket. But that just goes to show that the mounting bracket is a common & well-known design flaw. That said, an excellent alternative is the Rode VideoMicPro Compact Directional. Although the VideoMicPro costs more than this tiny mic, the sound quality is truly excellent. It is a night/day difference improvement in audio quality and is worth the >$100 retail price. The VideoMicPro also has quality hotshoe mounting that keeps the mic out of frame!!

This product does its basic function very well. I'm starting my own company and use my iPhone to shoot videos every week. I wanted to improve the quality of the audio so I purchased this mic. My biggest issues around this product is how I have to remove my protective case from my phone to use it. This is troubling because it is when I'm filming that my phone is at the greatest risk of being dropped. Also, if I connect the mic through the headphone jack connection on the back, the audio quality isn't as good as when its connected through the lighting connector. The wind protector does help but is useless if the wind hits it at just the right angle. Finally, my only other issue with the mic is connecting it to my computer through the headphone jack hasn't worked for me. This has limited what I can do with my videos, especially when live streaming. Now, I do have some good things to say about this mic. The audio quality is great when I run it through my video editing software. My software can easily remove any back ground noise and enhance the voices in the video. In fact, I use the audio from this mic more than my lapel mics.

This item is easy to use, smaller than anticipated, provides a good sound but I wish I could use it with my computer.

These are great for vlogging or interviewing people. Super easy to set up, just plug it and you’re ready to record. The dead cat helps reduce the wind effect of the recording. There is a clip that helps secure the mic but I didn’t find the need for it as the mic is very stable when plugged in. I have other external mics that require a stand but since I bought the video mic me L, I didn’t use them since this one is very easy to use with less hassle. Also you can carry it in your pocket.

Simply pluged in and ipad began using the mic instead of of internal. More full range, especially bass, than the Apple, however overall sound quality improved only slightly.

Mic sounds great, however the only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because it didn’t fit while you have a case on your phone. Which is ridiculous because everyone uses cases. It’s also overpriced in my opinion like all apple designated products.

Very very clear mic which is brilliant for my son's music. Was compatible with headphone with audio jack and was super easy to set up. However, he dropped it onto the carpet and it stopped working. Customer service was kind and prompt, and offered to replace or repair the microphone free of charge due to its 2 year warranty. Extremely high quality pickup (although a rather unfortunate accident), would 100% Recommend.

Really makes your mobile vlogging or video recording audio sound great. The added wind sock really come in handing for the outdoor shots! Does not work with all phone cases

Small, portable and convenient, however, need to remove the case or have a special case so the mic fits in. Won’t clear any case with a lightning port cutout.

Based on my experience with this model it does have good sound. However, this one based on the Apple lightning connector requires that you rem.ove the protective case from your iPhone if you use one, in order for the supplied rubber collar to allow solid mounting of this microphone, You may also have to put the phone in airplane mode if used next to the phone. The newest iPhones have improved their audio greatly, so you may not notice a big difference.

This is a directional mic so it picks up the sound from the direction that it's pointing. That's nice because then you naturally get less background noise. And it's easy to use when it's simply plugged into the Lightening port. It's not compatible with phone cases, but I can work around that.

Probably beats the standard microphone on current iPhone 13, by how much I couldn't tell you. I wouldn't buy this unless you really record audio on your phone a lot and would like a fairly minor increase in your mic quality. You have to take your phone case off to use it which sucks.

This video mic by Rode is extremely easy to use. Just plug it into your iPhone and start recording. I was looking for something quick and easy to use while recording my videos that would also cut back on noise distortion...this mic is perfect to the task.
