Best Microphone EVER buy for my DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After read a lot and see a few videos to find the right Mic for my DSLR i found this amazing mic to replace the built-in mic of my dslr. I realized that in order to eliminate ambience sound/noise I needed to get a shotgun mic so i buy Rode videomic and with my Canon 70D is the perfect combo for all my audio recording needs. You can also connect the video mic directly to your dslr camera but you will not be able to monitor the audio levels, unless of course your camera has a designated headphone output BUT with the Zoom H1, you can monitor the audio levels from the videomic. I also purchased the Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N 3.5mm Line to Mic cable to be able to route the ouput audio from the Zoom H1 to the camera. I noticed that by using this cable it reduces hiss noise. If you're looking into buying the Rode videomic, definitely go for the Rycote Lyre Mount. It is sturdy. No need to replace rubber bands unlike the previous Rode model. I have the videomic attached to a ALZO Multi-Mount and it does reduce noise and I can't barely hear the camera lens. Hope this feedback can help some of you out there. Of course there are other better shotgun mics out there, but under $200 the Rode videomic with the Rycote Mount is a great choice if your budget is tight,BEST choice you can ever make !

No difference notice
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really did not noticed a difference in the sound with this microphone. Or just maybe I wanted just to return it because I was broke lol. No really I did notice a difference in my volume having the microphone on my camera or off. Not to say it did not work because of the quality of my camera. However it sure did make my camera look more expensive and professional.

Great DSLR Mic!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for a trip to Alaska. It’s pretty massive to mount on top of a standard DSLR. Bought an after market mount built more for cinematography. But overall very happy with it. Light speeds ahead of the internal mic. Would buy again.

Solid Sound for a Decent Price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to record auditions for two dozen actors, and suddenly my producer had an emergency. Their input was vital for the process, so I quickly put together a plan to record the actors and show them to the producer later. One problem: The space we rented was HUGE and sound off the camera was bad. Enter the Røde. This thing wasn't too pricey but delivered a powerful quality. Even when my actors wandered the stage, belted out solos, or whispered emotional lines, I picked up what I needed to cut a really solid audition demo. It was a lifesaver. In small spaces, the sound quality is outstanding. In larger settings, you'll need to focus up on your subject. And careful when moving the camera.

Works great, but could be better
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Produces superior sound compared to the on board mic on both of my cameras, however even in both modes, can slightly hear motors when trying to catch focus. Still quieter than the cameras' microphones and small enough to fit on a gimbal and not cause clearance issues

Better sound quality than built-in mic. Bulky.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using Rode Videomic with Canon Vixia HF R52 to capture student performances. Great combo to improve sound quality. Understand need for 9v battery, but it does mean one more thing to pack (extra batteries). It is a bit cumbersome in size (larger than camcorder) and shape. Need larger bag to pack it, especially given awkward shape.

Very Good Microphone
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this microphone for a couple years now. Use it to video family events and large gatherings. Recorded sound is very good. The unit is a little challenging to change the switches but not a deal breaker by any means.

Solid mid level Mic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great mic for someone who wants to get a little more serious with recording. Puts out great sound and has settings for different types of environments. Only drawback is the way you change settings. Taking out the battery and trying to flip tiny switches can get annoying.

Better audio - better video

Good Beginner Mic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to pick up and start using, but a few oddities with the design make it odd to work efficiently with control functions. But if you're a beginner videographer, it's the one to pic up. The audio is clean and does a good job in the wind.

Great mic
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome quality mic. The gain switch is in a really weird spot. You have to remove the battery to make adjustments but other than that, its wonderful. I love rode products.
