this product did the job for me. needed to comedy act and it did the trick

Fits perfectly on my Nikon D5300. Captures the sound perfectly.

The microphone itself is good and picks up noise from pretty far away, however it is not very directional and anyone talking or even walking/typing/rustling papers around it will get picked up on this mic. Also, it doesn't say anywhere on this page "Batteries Not included." I was a little disappointed when I got back to the office to use it and saw that I had to run back out and buy a 9V battery. All in all, depending on what you are using it for, good microphone for the price.

Microphone was very easy to setup and it wasn't an issue trying to connect it to my camera. Great audio quality!

For what this is designed for, it’s a great product. When I’m run and gunning, I attach this to my Sony a7sii. When I get to a location for interviews, I attach it to the end of my Rode boom pole, and run an XLR to 3.5 cable to my Sony FS5. I have more expensive boom mics, but the ease of only needing 1 when shooting A and B cams with either 3.5 or XLR throughout the day is nice. I just purchased the Rode Go wireless mics with lavs too so I feel this will be an awesome pair.

My girlfriend needed this to record her online videos. She is a musician and over the last two years has had to get really good at home recording and streaming. To make videos both with her various projects and for her Patreon subscribers she needed to up her home hardware. This has definitely helped make the most of our home setup.

I bought this mic to pick up sound for church streaming. It does an excellent job, I have it set up at the back of the sanctuary and it picks up sound clearly in the room even when the sound not is coming over the sound system.

I got this to use with my new Canon VIXIA HF G50 4K Premium Camcorder, but it turned out the camcorder's native microphone actually got better sound quality than this external mic. But, when I put it on my older camcorder, it made a huge difference and gave much better sound. So I guess it depends on what camera you want to use it with.

I am reviewing this item because I think I have to to get 25 bonus points. I have only used it a couple of times. Good points are it captures more bass than the built in mic in my Sony RX10 Mkii. It also does not get as much of the zoom motor and other noise as the built in. It can cut out air conditioning noise that has been a problem for me in the past. The only negative is that my voice from behind it seems to have a strange timbre to it. I have not used it enough to say more about this.

I needed to shoot video with my Nikon D800. Great camera, but the built in mic was not going to make it. The sound quality of this microphone is amazing, but it must be turned on. I forgot during one taping session and ended up with stellar video and no audio at all. Painful lesson. If it is not on, it is not passive. Pure operator issue and one I will not soon forget.

The Mic worked good for me for the price. I use it in a studio set up for quick grab clips. If you have to much noise or your subject is far away. You will be getting a lot of white noise.

Great for mid price. Just don't like the way to change settings by taking out the battery.
