Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the excellent sound quality and ease of use of the VideoMic On-Camera Shotgun Microphone. Many also appreciate its price point, though some find the microphone's size to be a bit large for certain applications. A few users noted the need for a 9V battery as a minor inconvenience.

Great microphone for very controlled environment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good microphone for a very controlled environment such as a room. Doesn't do too well in loud areas unless you're trying to capture ambience. Overall would recommend for run and gun work.

Improved sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great with my Canon Rebel T3. I made a video for a client where he is speaking on-camera. Apart from the Røde mic I also had a lapel mic attached to an iPad. I overlapped the two sound files in post-production for a rich and clear sound. Without the Røde the sound would have been poor and with echo. I consider this buy a good investment.

Great for videographers who want to improve sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recommend this videomic much more than the RODE videomicPRO because why so spend so much money on just a videomic? Honestly videomics in my opinion just make the sound quality more crisp and this does that exactly with a more affordable price. And it does not come with batteries so you need to buy certain batteries which will only cost you another $3. If you just want a good sound quality but don't want to spend too much on a videomic, I totally recommend this!

Solid performer for a good price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought a new Canon DV recorder and found my older Canon mic wouldn't fit (thank you Canon). Rather than getting another Canon mic that might again become obsolete, I decided to go with a more universal mic. I've recorded over 12 hours of video with the Rode already and I find the sound quality is excellent. It was easy to set up, has run the 12 hours on a single battery, and connects easily to my camera.

Works Great, On/Off Button Awkwardly Placed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The microphone works very well. The boom is great for picking up from one direction. The battery is great for saving the camera battery from draining. The only drawback as many others have pointed out is the adjustment controls are on the inside and you have to remove a cover to get to them. Otherwise, it's a good product.

This mic was great for interviewing w/Canon 70D
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this Rodes mic to match up with my Canon EOS 70D for purposes of work project interviews. I especially wanted a directional mic that zoned in on the sound directly from the center focus of the camera. It catches the subject with background sound muted just enough to reflect live sound without requiring a lot of mix in editing.

Mic for dsr
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a child recital and needed an external mic Thought my camcorder — has mic connector it did not and had to return Did try the mic and it was an improvement over the built in but with no way to mount onto my camcorder

Good mic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use the a6500 and believe it or not, after testing it, the video micro is actually the best sounding mic on the Sony a6500! Even against the videomic pro. I didn't want to believe it myself, but it's true. The videomic pro is still the best option for other cameras however. This is a solid mic though!

Good Mic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Requires tweaking in certain situations depending on where the sound is coming from and how far from the mic it is. Beware of camera autofocusing as this will pick it up. Compared to internal microphone of camera, this thing pics up great sound and can cover much farther distances than the camera's mic.

Decent Mic
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A decent mic for a budget. Oddly it takes a 9V battery and the shock mount is flimsy, especially when mounted on a shoe. Lastly the 3.5 cable is short, especially when used on a gimbal.

Windy but works.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using this for outdoor video’ing sports games connected to iPhone 11 Pro. Picks up sound very well, but the screen doesn’t block wind noise. Will have to buy a deadcat wind shield to make it more effective.

Excellent value and great sound quality.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent buy! Using for educational video production and the noise reduction is a life saver. Can easily attach it to a DSLR or phone. Have used up to 10 feet away from subject and voice is clear and sounds perfect.
