I like the video-micro because it was a step up in audio and had crisper sound versus my audio that comes with my Sony a6100. I like how I can plug it right into my camera and place the dead cat on to block out wind gust and really elevate my sound. It is great for a beginner and the price is decent for the audio quality and other accessories that comes in this kit . Overall I would recommend.

I used this for two days straight while at a performance driving school. Very low wind noise. Excellent sound quality zoned to what you are pointing the camera at.

I can’t begin to explain how much better my videos sound using this microphone. I did have to buy a go pro adapter in order to use it, and a special housing in order to mount it but the sound is amazing and it cuts out all the extra sounds around you. It is definitely a must have for filming outdoors.

I need something to fix my audio on my iPhone recordings. This was all I needed. The only bummer is I needed an SC7 cable in order for the mic to work. So the mic doesn’t work with iOS right out of the box. Still happy!

Used this as an aid to the poor mic on the iPhone XS Max. This tiny thing creates great audio sound and really isolates and is directional. Can’t hear background noise or static. Would definitely recommend this to anyone doing mobile vlogs or some small video shoots with a mirrorless/dslr

This is a fantastic little microphone. It did a superb job in very windy conditions, no extra noise at all. It does require buying a new frame with a cold shoe mount, but those are cheap and easy too. You will not go wrong with this microphone.

I spent a lot of time researching different microphones to use with my Sony A6500, some cheap and some expensive, and I'm pleased with the results after using the VideoMicro. In situations where the subject is maybe 5 or 6 feet away from the camera, the audio is just too quiet with the built-in mic and needs boosting in editing. After purchasing the VideoMicro, the audio is perfectly loud enough with the subject at varying distances from the camera. I was even perfectly audible in a self-shot documentary outdoors, in the wind, and standing about 15 feet away from the camera - almost as if I was wearing a lavalier mic. So far, I've only noticed a lack in performance in very strong gusts of wind, even with the dead cat on. However, I would venture to guess that most mics (at least as far as consumer-grade products go, and especially at a price where you're not breaking the bank) would suffer a bit in 35+ MPH gusts of wind. Overall, it's been great to use in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. It does a great job of picking up the audio you want and at the levels you want. It's affordable. It's not big and bulky, so it transports easily. For best results, leave the dead cat on at all times, and if you're indoors (and it's practical), you can further help the sound quality by taking measures to reduce echoes through use of blankets and quilts. At this price point, and for my needs, the VideoMicro is a great choice in external mics!

I am a pro still photographer, but very novice in video. I video grandkids at school plays and such and use a Canon 70d. I wanted better audio than the camera's built-in mic could provide and this mic does that. A very noticeable improvement in sound quality. At a very affordable price, an excellent choice and highly recommended for the video novice. Also, no batteries required and very light weight and small enough to easily fit in camera bag.

Ease of use! Sound quality is way better than the stock mic on my camcorder. Have to make sure to manually adjust your mic volume though or there may be a lot of white noise. I had to manually adjust my microphone volume down to half.

I was looking at the Rode VideoMicGo but decided to purchase this unit instead. It is more compact, made of aluminum iso plastic and comes with a dead cat cover as well, all for $60. The Video MicGo would set you back $140 for the same setup. What do you lose? The mic mount is not as stable and the frequency response is a bit smaller, you lose a tad on the bottom end but it still far better than the built-in mic on the camera. Also the sensitivity is a tad less. You can hear sounds a bit further than the other unit. What do you gain? It is a lot smaller, cheaper and almost as good as the VideoMicGo. It is easier to pack with your gear on a trip. Just a tip. Make sure you disable the camera BlueTooth/Wi-Fi settings if equipped. Otherwise you will get interference on the sound.

This is a great little set if you are on a budget, but still want some microphone that works really well and has a professional sound recording quality. Rode is one of the best microphone companies out there, and doing research I have bought one of their most popular condensing microphones as well as this camera microphone set. Of course it's not super cheap, but it's because it is nice quality! I would say it's pretty good value otherwise, and pretty easy to set up, the only issue is you gotta make sure you have other set up for the camera if you like to use the playback screen to see yourself while recording, my Sony Alpha is compatible with this mic, but it sits right on top which is where the screen flips back up to. So you can't see yourself with the mic on, so I bought a tripod that I could put the mic on next to the camera. Moreso a design flaw of the camera, but it would be nice if maybe this camera came with another rig option, otherwise a great addition to my production family! Good for all kinds of purposes if you want to level up your sound!

Works great, reduces the echo sound you hear from an empty church, not big and bulky like other ones, and can attach with the converter to an iPhone, or Mac, and of course to androids. To connect to an apple computer though you will need another adapter, its a splitter for audio from headphones and recording. Not a splitter that repeats the audio on both. Just dont twist the back en its very sensible.

Didn't realize this mic made such a difference and recorded an outdoor video with my t6i. Did a video with this mic and without abs the sound levels and clarity were night and day. This mic is super compact and easy to travel with in my dslr bag. If you have a camera with a crummy built in mic like the canon t6i get this. The video mic pro is noticeably better than this mic, but given the increased size, price, and need for battery this was a better fit for me.

Really great microphone if you're on a tight budget. I purchased this microphone to go with my iPhone Vlogging setup and it works wonders. The only thing I noticed about the mic was whenever it got super windy the wind cuff didn't really work and would cut out at times the audio. This happened to me by a beach where the winds were pretty strong. Also if you're planning to use this with an iPhone vlogging setup you will need a TRS to TTRS cable from Rode and also an adapter for lightning to headphone jack if you have a later end device. The cable itself is already another $15 so a downside of the microphone. Other than that this microphone is pretty decent for what your paying. Would recommend for beginners out there!
