Really great microphone if you're on a tight budget. I purchased this microphone to go with my iPhone Vlogging setup and it works wonders. The only thing I noticed about the mic was whenever it got super windy the wind cuff didn't really work and would cut out at times the audio. This happened to me by a beach where the winds were pretty strong. Also if you're planning to use this with an iPhone vlogging setup you will need a TRS to TTRS cable from Rode and also an adapter for lightning to headphone jack if you have a later end device. The cable itself is already another $15 so a downside of the microphone. Other than that this microphone is pretty decent for what your paying. Would recommend for beginners out there!

Added this to my Canon DSLR for video work, not necessarily vlogs but more so for sound effects; captures sounds a lot clearer than the built in microphone.
There is no need for batteries as it is powered through the camera, but you can phantom power the mic if you have setup for it to reduce noise.
Overall it is lightweight, affordable, and gets the job done with no problems. If you're looking for professional quality, this isn't for you. But if you're just starting out, this is a great option and will get the job done for most of your needs for a mounted microphone.

I currently own a video mic pro and it's perfect for professional interviews but it's very large and requires a battery. The videomicro is perfect in that it's small, doesn't require a battery to power and most importantly the audio is miles better than what will come out of an on camera mic.

This budget microphone has delivered me big time quality. I primarily bought this microphone for shooting outside, and it has delivered. For the price, I was blown away at how sensitive and clear it is, and the included wind sock cut the wind down to nothing. The range on it is incredible as I was able to hear people and animals that were very far away.

Used for GoPro with Gimbal, now on a6500

I originally picked up this Mic because my GoPro Hero5 picked up terrible motor noise with my Gimbal. Using this and the adapter allowed me to have my GoPro mounted for smoother video, remove the Motor noise, and increase the quality of the GoPro videos' sound. Definitely stepped up the audio game. Currently, it's sitting on an a6500 for video and the directionality and windscreen are a great combination for video on the move.
It's relatively small and doesn't require batteries, which are two major pluses. The Mic mount is also pretty sturdy, I used to worry it would break, but after a month of throwing it in my bag, it's held up very well.

This mic gives quick light weight mic to small Mirrorless or DSLR cameras without adding too much extra weight to make video recording hand-held or on gimbal(not too much off balancing to take on or off). Only major con would be the red plastic mic holder isn't to stable and will flop mic due to it being lighter than metal of microphone, its to help with shock mounting effect off so vibrations of camera movements aren't heard.

I use this mic with my Sony a6300 the it sounds great. It's not also lightweight but very convenient to take and it doesn't make your vlogging rig look too big. The dead cat definitely reduces the wind noise.

I had low expectations when buying this because of the price, but after using it I was blown away! It’s great for the money, of course you get what you pay as the mount feels a little cheap and flimsy. It gets the job done and holds the mic no problem. It comes with a dead cat (the fur cover) to help with wind reduction, which helps a lot. The mic is compact and small, good for traveling or vlogging. Had it on a Sony a7iii, it was great and will be keeping it.

I film our cross country team using my Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and the phone's microphone was picking up a lot of wind noise. I first purchased a Comica microphone/tripod/phone mount/TRSS-TRS cable/hotshoe mount kit, but the microphone caused horrible static with the slightest breeze. You get what you pay for.
After adding this Rode VideoMicro in place of the cheap Comica mic on my rig, the wind noise is nonexistent, and the audio quality is definitely improved.
I highly recommend buying a cheap rig/mounting kit and substituting this Rode VideoMicro with whatever subpar microphone comes with the kit. The Comica kit came with the TRS/TRSS cable I needed to connect the Rode to my phone's headphone jack, which was helpful. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase this cable and a way to mount the microphone to your phone separately.
My only complaint is the red plastic that connects the microphone to the hotshoe is extremely floppy. I'm not sure why Rode wouldn't make something with a bit of rigidity.

The built in microphone of my camera gave a me a ton of internal and background noise. Using this external microphone has brought those levels down drastically. The unit is compact and easy to use. I would recommend it.

Very good product. Needed something small for my GoPro. Fits great. Sounds great. Best purchase for the price. Liked this product better than Movo, which was cheaper. Only problem, when connecting to computer or phone, you will need a TRRS cord (Aux with 3 rings) or an adapter for your device to read it. The cord it comes with works for a camera, so no issues with GoPro.

I bought this when I needed a smaller microphone to carry around when recording videos outdoors. I'm happy with the results, especially with the wind filter. Its made it easier to edit the audio on the videos from my Canon T6i. I recommed it if you record in places with a lot of background noises.
