Ooops, I reviewed a plain wind-shield thinking it was this. Wonderful device! Attaches to the hot-shoe on a DSLR and is very easy to use. No more pops and snaps of wind gusts over the builtin camera microphone! My videos are so much better for it! And it's survived 6months+ in my camera bag without any harm!!!

I bought this for use with my Sony A6500 and an Osmo Pocket (now that the USB mic adapter is available) and it works great for both. The sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small mic, although it seems a bit less 'shotgun' than larger shotgun type microphones. You will need a different cable to use it with a cell phone, though I have used it in that scenario too, and it works great.

I think this is a great, compact, microphone to capture sounds more clearly than you would with an internal microphone. Reason why I give it 4 stars not 5, is that in very windy situations that wind protector struggles a little. But I think it is much better than what you would get internally anyway and for its size it does the job.

Bought this for my Sony AX100 Camcorder. It's very lightweight and notice a difference using the mic vs internal mic. The mic holder could be a little stronger. It also tilts down a bit in the front due to weight but can be adjusted by locking in the cord in the slot using trial and error. Not sure how other Camcorders work but for Sony be sure to turn on Manual setting then turn down the recording volume way down then back up to desired recording volume otherwise the camera will turn on the automatic gain resulting in hiss in a quiet environment even if using manual audio setting. No fault of mic. The dead cat works great. Took it to various outdoor activities and even with slight wind nothing was picked up by mic. As a tip when putting on the dead cat hold the back of the mic and turn the dead cat counterclockwise while pushing in otherwise the front element of the mic will unscrew. I would definitely buy again.

Perfect size. Good for travel. Very affordable for what you get.

I bought this mic to use along with my iPhone and the video sound was improved tremendously. It’s small and built tough. The dead cat or mic fur, really helped when filming at the beach. It reduced the wind noise and made the footage more enjoyable. I don’t hear any popping sounds... I’m still testing but so far so good. Great product!!!

For what is is, its a good addition for someone looking to get into adding audio to their work. while you can buy more expensive better products, this is not bad as its compact and easy to use. Not pro level audio quality or product, but good enough for hobbiests and amateurs.

I watched a bunch of youtube videos to see which microphone would be best for vlogging youtube videos... and comparing all the expensive ones and this one, I went with this one. No regrets! It's small and compact, easy to use. Works well with no issues on my canon m6 mark ii camera!

I've used this on multiple mirrorless cameras and the audio quality far exceeds that of any onboard mic (as it should). It is not quite as directional, nor does it offer the gain of larger powered shotgun mics, but this is a trade-off I'm willing to make for the compact size and not having to worry about replacing batteries.

This was recommended to my daughter by a friend for her growing photography business. It really reduces wind and other sound noise and allows for crispy audio.

Rode products never cease to impress. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for better audio than the built in mic for your camera. The size is great too since it doesn’t take up a whole lot of space for cameras like the Canon M50 MK 2.

Mic is small but works surprisingly well. The light weight and no batteries is a plus on-camera. All plastic but don't see any obvious problems in the design or craftmanship. Small size makes it convenient to leave in the bag. Ordered another for a different camera bag.

Purchased for addition to GoPro Vlogging setup that I created for my kid. Took away all the movement noise from handling the GoPro by hand and gorillapod was causing. Will be purchasing another on soon for my other setup. I really enjoy not having to purchase batteries as it runs off the camera for power.

Pretty good for the price! I'm not sure if it's something you reallly need if your mic is decent as I didn't not hear too big of a difference in mine

I would recommend this item.. its easy to use and the sound is great. You can use this with your camera or with your iphone (two additional items needed for this to work but it does work and also sounds great).

Works great on my osmo action and pocket, as well as my gp hero7 ! Well worth the extra few dollars for the rode over the other similar brands , if you can afford the wireless go by rode , that would be my actual recommendation but this sound just as good , just wired is the only difference

I use this on my Canon M50, I store it in my go pro 8 travel case with all my go pro, and go pro parts. Amazing mic for personal vlogging. I run it in custom settings all the way at 1... saw this recommendation on a video review on another site... I didn’t truly understand why they recommended this until I used it and realized at one with you talking over general noise from Street traffic or other people around you it truly is picking up the perfect Volume to record just you and minimal background noise... hope that makes sense... you will love this. Seems small and like it wont do the task needed... this thing is a great addition!

I bought this for video vlogging on not just my Iphone 12 pro, but my Sony A6400 camera that I bought from Best buy as well. The dead cat (fuzzy grey piece) does slide off nicely to reveal the mic in case you do not want to use it. Personally, I did video testing sound with wind and noises with both the dead cat on and off, it seemed to sound better and not as muffled with the deadcat OFF. Great quality sound and I no longer have to be super close to my Sony A6400 for vlogging on trips and other events. Easy to carry around in a camera bag too!

Bought this external shotgun microphone to work with my Sony X3000 action camera and a gimbal. Results are amazing. Much better than the internal mic. And because it's so lightweight, the gimbal works the same as before. Having the dead cat is also a plus even though I haven't needed that too much yet.
