    I had purchased a cheap spare from Amazon and it had about 25% of the charge of my 10 year old OEM battery. This one is a bit better than my old OEM. I did have to update my camera's firmware to use it but that was pretty simple.

    It's good to have extra charged batteries. You just never know when you'll need one. I keep this one with my spare charger in my camera bag.

    I decided for this OEM battery with extended capacity over generic. It does last more than the base model. Now is my default battery for Nikon D5100.
