This is a great game with tons of detail and a huge world. Lots to explore and do. If you have any interest in a game with a western theme then you can't go wrong here. If I had to complain about one thing, it's that living as an outlaw isn't too viable. Mainly because you get discounts in stores for having a good reputation. So if you commit too many crimes you'll end up paying more for things. Of course, this doesn't count the robberies and things you do for missions, you aren't penalized for those. But if you want to rob people and do other crimes on your own outside of missions, you'll gain a negative reputation. Minor complaint though and doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game. Unless you want to go on a nonstop rampage you're unlikely to affect yourself a whole lot. Plus, strangely, you can gain positive rep by tossing fish back into the water you catch. So if you commit a lot of crimes, go do some fishing lol.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an experience to remember. The thing that stands out the most is the painstaking attention to detail. Everything - the realistic animations, the highly context-sensitive dialogue, and so much more - reflect the countless hours of effort the developers poured into this game. And luckily, this doesn't come at the expense of the actual core gameplay. This has one of the most engaging and cinematic narrative experiences ever seen in a game, with superb voice acting and motion capture. Many characters are well written and have very distinct yet relatable traits. When it comes to actual mechanics, this game has serviceable cover-based shooting, with the plethora of weapon choices, ammunition types, and realistic cocking of guns elevating firefights. Enough can't be said about the graphics. The lighting alone is worth mention, lending a photorealistic quality to the already stunning and detailed environments. All of these aspects come together to form an unforgettable experience that looks and feels great. It's not perfect, but the multitude of goods vastly outweigh the bads.

This is by far the best looking game so far on the PS4 Pro. I know a lot of games look great but in RDR 2 Rockstar really took their time to make every little detail stand out in this game. From shadows to environmental effects, you literally immerse yourself in this game. I have spent countless hours just traveling around the huge open world map. You can go anywhere and you never know what kind of crazy things you'll run into or do. This game will keep you busy for a long while if you do all the little side missions and you should as they are fun and some are crazy! Don't miss out on this great title from Rockstar. You don't even need to know the story from the original RDR since its a pre-qual. But if you become a fan as I have been of this game for a long time, you owe it to yourself to play the original too. Happy shooting, hunting or what ever other craziness you get yourself into in this game.

I've been playing the series since it was Red Dead Revolver and to see how successful and loved it's become makes me pretty happy overall. There was a lot to live up to after Red Dead Redemption since Rockstar knocked it out of the park with that entry. This one is no different, like GTA V it was a go big or go home sort of deal. It looks amazing, from the sprawling landscapes that stretch out before you and change as time passes to the story segments where the character models look a lot nicer and far more realistic, it's all amazing. The music changing on cue depending on what type of action is happening on the screen. I haven't had the chance to try out the online component to the game but have watched some friends livestream it and it looks every bit as fun as I thought it would. Basically, if you liked Red Dead Redemption at all then this is a no-brainer to pick up, if you hated it then this won't change your mind but you'll certainly be missing out on an amazing game regardless.

OMG seriously I waited to pick up this game well after it’s release, I enjoyed the first game and story but it took me some time to finally pull the trigger on grabbing this......really shot myself in the foot waiting I can’t say anything negative amazing graphics, amazing story, a visually beautiful open world where all npc’s have a daily life routine seriously watched people go from store fronts to homes......ever wanted to be a cowboy/outlaw/bounty hunter pick this up tons of stuff to do in it aside from main story, side story, poker games, dominos, hunting, fishing, bounties, taking care of your horse. Redfin ate lunch a must have for any gamer don’t wait any longer and take your shot with red dead redemption. And NO you don’t have to have played the first game to play this, there are some small call backs to it with things they kinda reference but it’s not necessary.

Read Dead Redemption 2 is set in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The game follows the adventures of Arthur Morgan in his time spent with the Van der Linde gang. Rockstar has held up to their high standard of game development with their latest installment into the Red Dead universe. The game has a fantastic story with main story line missions that have easily taken me 40 hours and I'm not finished yet. With side missions, side activities, and random encounters in the game, I am approaching the 100 hour mark in this fantastic universe. I am really looking forward to the Online component that will be released in the near future that promises to contain a new story and tons of content and a few new game modes to explore with my friends. If you are on the fence about what to get a gamer in the family, I would highly recommend this game. It is amazing. However, I would avoid if the person you are thinking of purchasing for is a younger child. The game has a lot of mature content.

RDR 2 is a breathtaking game. Its sense of immersion is unparalleled and its storytelling sets a new bar for video games. The open world is beautiful, massive and interactive. You never know what you're going to see next. Rockstar's incredible pedigree speaks for itself, but this game is a true marvel. This is one of the best open world games ever. The weak spot you may feel though would be in its gameplay. I enjoy it but some may not. It's a very lifelike game for better or worse. Some feel the gameplay feels slow, clunky and realistic to a fault. This is true to some degree but it's not like the gameplay is awful. It's still fun but I believe Rockstar's intention was to really make you feel like you are in the old west. There are games that play better than this one, but this game does so much else right that is unmatched. It has a breathtaking attention to detail with an engaging story. Few games hit this level of quality. It's a special one.

I really want to give this game a 4.5 out of 5, but half star ratings are not possible on the best buy website. I was a huge fan of the first Red Dead Redemption, being one of my top 10 favorite games of all time. Red Dead Redemption 2 is far more impressive technically, but didn't keep me as attached to the story. *Spoilers Ahead* I felt like this game became a bore once I got to the island of Guarma. That part of the game was cool, because the setting changed completely and it felt like a different game, but it felt like an unnecessary detour that put a wrench in the plot. After that point, the game felt like a real chore. The next few chapters consist of a shootout of some sort nearly every mission, which I know is unavoidable in a western set story. But I was eager for something else. The occasional train heist or sneaking mission was welcomed, but it was rough trying to finish this game in a timely manner. I did love Arthur's ending, and the epilogue chapters.

RDR2 is a game not everyone will react to the same way. Its MASSIVE, incredibly detailed open world and gorgeous graphics are marvelous. It can either be played on its own, or as a prequel to the OG. Those who rode with John Marston in the first one should appreciate this game. But not every story thread feels organic, and one would think that after eight years, Rockstar would have improved some areas, especially the combat system and the highly sensitive wanted system. Be warned that if you are not the patient type, RDR2 will start feeling tedious fast due to some of the camp chores and mundane tasks like bonding with your horse or maintaining your weight (necessary though they may be). The controls can also be consistently frustrating; I was knocked off my horse constantly...or I would punch someone (or my steed) while trying to interact with them! A good game, but a flawed masterpiece.

This game is one of the best storyline I've played in the last 5 years. You follow the story of Arthur Morgan and his personal experiences with his outlaw family. What makes this game unique is that Arthur provides his own opinion of how each mission pans out and gives the player insight on contemplating whether certain morality choices are justified. The storyline is easily 60 hours just on it's own without side quests/activities. The amount of content in this game is superb. The visuals are STUNNING. I use a Samsung 4K TV and the HDR effect in the game is very smooth and feels very realistic. I paid $60 for this game and did not regret paying that amount because I logged more than 60 hours just in single player. For the multiplayer aspect, the economy at the time I played 2 months ago was rough because everything cost so much. It may have changed by now.

If you're one of the many people who played Red Dead Redemption, you're probably feeling like this game is a must. Well, even if you DIDN'T play RDR, this game IS a must. It's a beautiful game. We're talking scenes so gorgeous that you forget you're in a video game. Not only that, you get the classic, quirky Rockstar humor that the publisher is known for. There's so much to do in this game, and so much to explore. And, a recommendation, if you're late to the Red Dead Redemption train -- play Red Dead Redemption 2 FIRST. You don't need to play the first RDR to appreciate RDR2, and you'll probably appreciate the story of RDR more by playing this game. My only critiques - the horse mechanics are annoying. Why does your horse run you straight into trees? Why do they run off cliffs? Secondly (unless I haven't unlocked it in the game), why does fast travel only let you fast travel to major cities, but not to areas you've discovered?

I read lot of reviews on multiple channels before I consider getting this game. I played GTA quite a few and, being from same company, I was sure this would be a great game. But it's better than that. I've just played for few hours, so still far from being an expert, but the game really looks like it'll keep me busy for several months It's slow paced: you need to ride your horse everywhere (no fast travel for free), keep an eye on your vitals (get Morgan some sleep and food... and same for your horse.. like in real life). The mechanics are GTA similar is some ways but it's not as fast paced and you need to take care of more people (you love your gang members, so you care for them and bring them money, food and supplies) So, if you like games that are not just fast pace shooters or sports, but dense and with a real story... you probably will love this one too. But don't take my words for granted.. check for yourself

This game is phenomenal in all the right ways. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. It has everything. The storytelling, side missions, beautiful landscapes, hundreds of animal breeds, weapon customization, hunting, fishing, animal skinning animations, crafting and cooking, treasure hunting, multiple outfits and clothes for your main character, even horse customization with saddles and mane styles and more... The way this game represents it's characters throughout the story, it makes you care about them. Heck you'll even care about some random fellow on the side of the road with a broken leg and a heart throbbing story that you'll stop to help him out. Or you have a choice of being the most ruthless outlaw of all time and shoot him in the other leg and take all his money. You can be as good or as bad as your heart desires and benefit from different perks of the Honor System

Long tutorial, slow travel, lots of activities, confusing controls. This is definitely not a game you can just pickup and play for a few minutes and go do something else. It requires a time commitment, and dedicated gaming sessions. Simply going from activity or quest to the next takes a while because of the slow travel system (rider horse everywhere), and the awful controls don't help. But there is so much there to see and do, that you can easily get lost in the world and lose a few hours in the process. You can plow through the main quest in a few dozen hours, but then you wouldn't be playing the game the way Rockstar intended. This a slow, deliberative game that demands your time and attention, which if given , you will be rewarded. Just wish they did something about the awful controls, which you get used to after a few hours of playtime, but never really like.

The game looks great and plays okay. It was built up to be this end all game or whatever and it is good. I just would not say it is the greatest game of all time like everyone who kisses their butt does. Most of the game play is pretty good and as always Rockstar explains very little as you try to figure stuff out or explains it in such a way you are staring at the screen with a quizzical look on your face wondering what you are supposed to do exactly...well, till you die a few times and they explain it better or you look it up online for a better explanation. They think they improved Dead-eye, but it is just messed up as it ever was. I do not mind having to worry about eating and feeding the horse and whatever else you need to do....it is fine. Anyway, I would wait for a sale or something before purchasing this game....save yourself some money. Rockstar already made enough money off this game.

The first Red Dead Redemption was one of my favorite games on the previous generation of consoles, so I had high anticipation for this one. And while it doesn’t capture the same magic of the first, Red Dead Redemption II is an amazing game in its own right. The game starts slow, too slow, but once the story and map open up, it’s as focused or deliberate as the player wants. I chose to play through tackling most of the side missions, which are generally worthwhile. Meanwhile, the main missions are compelling, often with impressive set-pieces and score/musical cues. And it’s not spoiling anything to say the epilogue was my favorite part of the game. The controls can be frustrating (such as when trying to pick up or interact with a small object), but the game as a whole is a rousing, if not methodical, success.

The single player portion of this game is great! It has a ton of interactions with the NPC's and Rockstar did a great job at making those interactions fresh. As for the multi player it has a lot to be desired.... There isnt a ton of things to do and it seems a bit stale, but GTA Online was horrible when it first released in 2013, and with all the updates it turned out to be one of the best multiplayer experience in console history. (In my opinion) It just seems that Red Dead will struggle to reach that echelon as it will be a bit more difficult to add to this game with the time period it represents. I did give this a 5 star rating despite the flaws of the multiplayer, because of how well done the single player is, and in my opinion this game should be played with that in mind.

I bought this game for my boyfriend for his birthday. WORST MISTAKE EVER! Although, this game is probably the best that has ever been invented graphics are so realistic. I loved watching him play. But warning this game is the devil in disguise. I literally lost my boyfriend for a whole week to this game. So many late nights of him screaming and cussing because he ran his horse into a tree or a rock. Lord bless it when he failed a mission and had to do it 4x over. This game makes you develop a love hate relationship. I don’t know whether to hate the game or my boyfriend. So to the lady’s beware but your man will love you. SO BUY IT!

After all the hype, I was pretty excited to start on this one. Excellent graphics, cinematics, and open world designs. Very realistic and detailed. That being said, it moves a little more slowly than I'd like. I don't like having to stop to eat all the time, or have to remember to feed the horse. They may as well make you have to use the bathroom every few hours. Kind of mundane. I like realistic in some aspects, this was just an irritant for me. So, instead of binge playing the way I normally would with something like a GTAV or a FF, I find myself playing for an hour here or there, and not really missing it when I'm not playing... So yea, great game but also disappointed. I still would buy it, but I wish I had waited until the price came down on this one.

I didn't play the last Red Dead Redemption, however I was never really a Grand Theft Auto person and had my skepticisms about this game. However, there is no denying this is a technical marvel in gaming. The world is vast and beautiful, the characters are intriguing, the action is intense, and Rockstar did an amazing job with their attention to detail. The game can be a little slow at times with it's travel and dialogue, but I feel it's intended to make you sit back and appreciate the experience. One thing everyone should do though upon starting the game is to adjust your settings. Turn dead zone to zero and look sensitivity all the way up. I highly recommend people check this game out, although it might not be for the inpatient and kids.
