    Cumbersome controls take away

The game would be perfect if the controls weren't so horrible. The protagonist usually ends up feeling like a tank, and in order to do most tasks, the control scheme is just cumbersome.

The game starts a little slow and the controls are sometimes a bit hard to get used to at the start, but if you survive those, the story telling and ambiance of this game is incredible.

I like it but the gameplay boils down to a standard cover shooter and the controls are a bit clunky.

I picked this up on release. Massive install on PS4 Pro. To me, the aiming-shooting controls felt clunky and awkward to use. This improved over time but never feels 'right'. The world, stories and character interactions are addictive and absorbing however

Controls (hand held) are hard to use. Need a guide book to play.

Game is great so far, just have to be patient and go explore the area. It takes a little bit of time to get the feel for the controls.

Good story and good graphic. The control is a little bit clumsy, but still a great game.

The game has a well written story, along with amazing graphics. The controls can be a little clunky at times, but it won't take away from the overall experience.

Long tutorial, slow travel, lots of activities, confusing controls. This is definitely not a game you can just pickup and play for a few minutes and go do something else. It requires a time commitment, and dedicated gaming sessions. Simply going from activity or quest to the next takes a while because of the slow travel system (rider horse everywhere), and the awful controls don't help. But there is so much there to see and do, that you can easily get lost in the world and lose a few hours in the process. You can plow through the main quest in a few dozen hours, but then you wouldn't be playing the game the way Rockstar intended. This a slow, deliberative game that demands your time and attention, which if given , you will be rewarded. Just wish they did something about the awful controls, which you get used to after a few hours of playtime, but never really like.

The west world it creates feels detailed and empty at the same time. The control is heavy and sometimes frustrating. Replay value is low due to linear script and shallow gameplay

Spectacular from start to finish. A tour de force of what video games can be. Only downside is the traditional bad Rockstar controls, but the rest is just so good they aren't a detriment.

I guess if you loved the first one then you know what to expect and will love this game as well. for someone like me the graphics were good and such but the game was very slow paced and the controls leave lots to be desired. .

I don't know how this game has been getting perfect scores. Controls are clunky, everything you do drags and is tedious. Overhyped game.

I bought this for my husband's birthday & he is having a ball. Apparently the character's even have a weight tracker-not sure if they can get fat or you can just starve. I played once but I get the controls confused and kept jumping off my horse while trying to shoot.

The game starts out really slow The gunplay isnt smooth The movement doesnt feel good The controls dont feel good either. However after spending about 20 hours or so playing the game you gets use to it and the world just sucks you in. The graphics are amazing and I can't wait for multiplayer to launch later this month I hope.

This game exceeded my expectation and I have really enjoyed the adventure and would definitely buy again. I can't give it 5 stars because the controls are wonky and the AI is not intelligent at all. Lots of small bugs that I hope they work out but still worth the buy.

The world design is gorgeous and there's plenty to do. The controls are a bit clunky in my opinion which is about the only thing wrong with the game. Otherwise it's a pretty solid play.

In an effort to be realistic, Rockstar lost sight of what makes games fun. Sure, it's cool to talk about horse testicles, and how the characters beard grows, how clouds go about in the sky.....but it does get boring if you're doing it for 60+ hours. The GTA formula is getting old as well - the control of aim is still AWFUL, and the limitations on how to do missions is stricter than ever. It's a step back from Red Dead Redemption (the original).
