To be honest, I was excited to try out the Remarkable tablet. However, after using it for a week, I realized that it didn't meet my expectations. My main reason for buying it was to take notes and replace all my paper notes. Another reason was to be able to read books on it. While the Remarkable worked well for taking notes, I was disappointed to find out that it doesn't allow me to read books from my Kindle or any other online provider. Additionally, there is no backlight, so I can't read in a dark room. So yeah, I'm taking this back. I hope Remarkable 3 will have everything I need.

If you ever forget your pin code, there's a good chance you're screwed. Their reset pin code had 50/50 chance of an error during process and if it does your only option is replace to tablet. If under warranty all good, if not $500 pair weight

I actually enjoyed using this device for note taking for my job & small reminders.
Some positives
- the app, I actually like the remarkable app.
- the design, it’s very nice & get many comments on it.
- the feeling of writing on it feels a lot better.
- the battery life is pretty good, almost like a kindle paperwhite.
Some negatives
- the price , $500 -$700 (with tax) is pretty insane.
- Subscription , the remarkable app will cost you money after your free trial, kinda sad since the device is not cheap.
- sometimes the device feels a bit slow/laggy.
I tried using my iPad & remarkable for note taking but I do prefer the remarkable a-lot more.
I decided to return the device & buy it used on offer up for $260 since I could not justify the $600 price tag I spend on it.

A Game-Changer for Digital Note-Taking!

The reMarkable 2 with the Marker Plus and Polymer Weave Book Folio has completely transformed how I take notes, read, and stay organized. This tablet is perfect for anyone who loves the feel of writing on paper but wants the convenience and versatility of a digital device.
Pros:
• Incredible Writing Experience: The reMarkable 2 offers the closest experience to writing on paper that I’ve ever encountered in a digital device. The Marker Plus has just the right amount of friction, making handwriting feel natural and smooth. It’s a dream for note-takers, artists, and those who enjoy doodling.
• Sleek and Premium Design: The tablet itself is ultra-thin, lightweight, and beautifully designed. The Polymer Weave Book Folio not only adds an elegant touch but also provides excellent protection for the tablet while keeping it lightweight and portable.
• Distraction-Free Reading and Writing: One of my favorite aspects of the reMarkable 2 is its focus on keeping things simple. There are no endless notifications or apps to distract you—just a pure, distraction-free environment for reading, writing, and sketching.
• Long Battery Life: I’ve been able to use the reMarkable 2 for days without needing to recharge. It’s perfect for long study sessions or brainstorming without worrying about finding a charger.
Cons:
• No Backlight: While the lack of a backlight can make it harder to use in low-light conditions, it’s not a major issue for me since it’s meant to mimic the feel of paper. It’s more comfortable on the eyes during long reading or writing sessions, and it’s easy to adjust to with proper lighting.
Overall: The reMarkable 2 is an exceptional tool for those who value a minimalist yet powerful approach to note-taking and reading. It combines the best of both analog and digital worlds, offering an unparalleled writing experience with the convenience

The reMarkable 2 has been one of my best buys this year. Writing on it feels super close to real paper, and it helps me stay organized without a pile of notebooks everywhere. The screen is clean and easy on the eyes, and the battery lasts forever. I use it for class notes and work stuff and it syncs perfectly to my phone and desktop at home. Only thing I wish is that it had a backlight for nighttime and some color options but overall it’s a solid device if you like handwriting and want to go paper-free.

The reMarkable 2 is an exceptional device for anyone who craves the comforting feel of pen on paper—but with the digital perks like syncing, organizing, and handwriting-to-text conversion. Your connection with it comes from its minimalism: a tactile experience that refuses to distract you with apps or notifications. You’re right to value how it writes, because it really does.
That said, if you often work in low-light environments and wish for illumination, this device could sometimes be limiting. The choice not to include a backlight is a purposeful one, meant to preserve that natural writing sensation you love even if it means relying solely on external light.

I’ve been using the reMarkable 2 for a few weeks now and I’m blown away. The writing experience is the closest thing to real paper I’ve ever felt on a screen. It’s responsive, natural, and surprisingly addictive. I use it daily for note-taking, brainstorming, and reviewing PDFs without the distractions of a regular tablet.
The device is super light, and the battery lasts forever (seriously, I’ve charged it once. The handwriting-to-text feature works well, but you’ll need the subscription for cloud syncing and backups something to be aware of.
If you’re someone who likes writing things down and wants to go digital without losing that “pen and paper” feel, this is it. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every penny for how focused and productive I feel with it.

The reMarkable Is Just That

When I opened the box, I really fell in love with this reMarkable. I have watched plenty of videos before buying but I really got to understand this product once I tried it.
I love the size of this and how thin it is. So far, I haven't dropped it, but to me, it feels strong. Like quality. Perfect of daily use.
I debated about getting the subscription plan, but since I love this so much, I was willing to try it. It is free for the first year anyway. (At least at this time)
I have been using this device for about a week now. I have used my reMarkakable 2 HEAVILY for school. I wanted to cut down on my many notebooks. On a recent trip, I had to leave some work behind because I did not have the luxury of bringing my usual bags. With this device, I have created folders and used the app. I can see instantly what I have in the cloud. It would be nice if this model came with a bit more GBs, but I do have the cloud.
I have two issues with this device. One was getting use to the swiping. At first I swiped from left to right to create a new page. Once I discovered I swipe from the bottom up to create a long page, I lost track of where my notes went. My fix is just to swipe across the page or just use the next page icon. Easy.
My second problem is the nib. The Marker is great. It erases my work. Though you will see it takes a couple seconds but then it is gone. It has some weight, and this is also a quality piece. I write for long periods of time, and it still feels comfortable in my hand. Back to the nibs. I have to say overall, they suck. Like I said I am in school, and I do take an insane number of notes. Plus, I have lots of time in the day to do this. I know my nibs lose the tip in about 2 to 3 days. Their nibs are a pricey-just like this product. I did buy a 25 nib set for almost $40, but I don't like that. I looked online for an alternative and it is sitting in my cart for a future purchase, but apparently there is nothing like the original. I am currently going to experiment with my stylus from my Samsung tablet which I have not changed in at least a year. Now I will see how long that takes to wear out, but I may switch over to that stylus if it is cheaper.
Overall, I do love this product. I would give another star if the nibs did not suck.

Used a Moleskine notebook for years but got burned a few times when I lost it or left it behind someplace. No fear with this since it syncs and also locks so others cannot get into your notes. Switched to an iPad for day-to-day use and note-taking but never could get used to the feel of writing on glass, even with a paper-like screen saver. Still have the iPad for normal functions but the Remarkable 2 allows me to really focus on my notes without distraction.
Pros: Feels just like paper. Syncs easily to computers and other devices. Allows you to focus without distraction (one trick pony, notes is it).
Cons: A bit expensive for a single-use device and requires a subscription for syncing (albeit fairly low cost). Not an e-reader, although you can use it with public domain epub books and PDF files.

This is a great device to keep all my notes organized for work. I can even use it to make comments directly on pdfs for others to use. The app allows you to both sync documents and show in realtime as you use the notebook to mark up items or write notes.

This device changed my life! I have been so stuck in screens for so long and this gives me an opportunity for more thoughtful work. I feel like it is the perfect device for any form of writing, diagramming or drawing.
Clearly it is a Premium device with a premium price, but I didn't feel it fell short in any area. My 9 year old ended up co-opting it from me so much that I was forced to give her mine and buy a new one!
I recommend this more than any other single device I can recall purchasing that was technology related. I right with it every day.

LOOK AND FEEL:
LOOKS: 5 out of 5
FEEL: 4.5 out of 5
The reMarkable 2 is a great device that has a very premium feel. The screen is a slightly scratchy surface to give your stylus that resistance to feel more like pen/pencil and paper. To me it still does not get the pen and paper feel down perfectly, but it is a lot better than writing on glass. Set up was very easy and the UI is intuitive and easy to navigate for the most part. The device feels weightier than it looks, but it's a good weight in the hand that is spread out well across the device. The stylus that came with the device also felt premium. It was light in the hand, but with enough weight to feel like a good solid pen.
USE OF THE DEVICE:
VALUE: 3 out 5
USEABILITY: 3.5 out 5
The reason I rated this device only 4 stars is because for me I found the "distraction free" part to be too much. Not being able to open a kindle book on this device and take notes from it was a bit of a let down. Pretty much straight note taking, PDFs, and ePub books are all you can really do. No third party applications can be installed. If you are looking for that level of limitation to help you focus then this is the perfect device for you. However, I wanted this as a study, note taking, and reading device on which I could also check my email if I needed to, or look up something to do with my subject of study on the web. The options are limited with the reading and study aspects of the reMarkable device. The lack of a some sort of light was also a little disappointing. There were definitely times I wished it had a front light on the device itself to better view the screen. Otherwise you needed an external source of light just as you would with pen and paper. All this to me made the price point for this device high for what is available to you.
REMARKABLE APPS:
EASE OF USE: 4.5 out of 5
I will say the remarkable apps you can use to interface between devices was very well thought out and designed. Making it easy to quickly transfer PDFs or ePub books from my computer to the device.
SUMMARY:
The writing experience on the reMarkable is a pleasant one. It definitely feels better than writing on other tablets I have tried before. Overall my experience with reMarkable was...well not reMarkable, but it was good. Not great, but good. I would still recommend this device to anyone who really wants that "disctraction fee" aspect of the device. For that, it works very well, while also giving you a premium experience. However, that premium "distraction free" experience does come with a premium price.
