Resident Evil 3 is a good although somewhat disappointing remake of the 1999 classic. The story is good and certain characters such as Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliviera really do shine. The graphics are amazing and the game is a lot of fun to play. The main downside is the length of the game. RE3 can easily be completed in less than 5 hours on a first playthrough due to some of the original version's levels being cut. It is for this reason that I recommend waiting for a price drop before purchasing this game.

Coming off of RE2 Remake, I was excited for another modernized version of a classic RE experience. I went in with tempered expectations though with all the complaints I'd read about the game's length and low replayability. The game is indeed on the short side - I finished in roughly 7 hours. But I'll take quality over quantity. The experience is tightly paced. Compared to REMake 2, which had a couple of large labyrinthine areas to master, this game has many more smaller sections. I find enjoyment out of both types of level design, so this was perfectly fine for me. There was never a dull moment, and a fair few tense encounters. You do swap characters on a couple of occasions and I can't say I was a huge fan of that. The 2 characters play somewhat differently from each other, but part of the RE experience is inventory management. Suddenly switching over to another character's completely separate inventory was pretty jarring and I imagine greatly hampers the replay incentive. Unlike REMake 2, there is also only 1 campaign - another detriment to replayability. But there's a lot to like here for fans - Nemesis fights were plenty exciting and really lets you loose with all the firepower in your arsenal. Graphics and controls are top-notch. Jill is really fleshed out here so you get a good sense for her character. Pick it up for a fun couple of sessions. The price shouldn't break the bank nowadays so there's no reason that length and replayability should be that offputting.

This game is awesome and blows the original version away by a long shot, the gameplay is intense and nerve wracking every step of the way. Seeing how RE3 is a prequel and sequel which takes place 24hours before and after RE2 (the first half of RE3 happens before Jill gets infected with the T-Virus, then RE2 begins with Claire and Leon going into Raccoon City and after their adventures they escape the city with Sherry Birken....then the 2nd half of RE3 story picks up with Carlos healing Jill with the T-Virus vaccine). The story telling really gives even further insight that explained the events on how the Raccoon City Police Department went downhill and how the zombies and monsters took over the station killing everyone, plus you get to see how Marvin Branugh was injured before Leon and Claire meets him at the police station not to mention how the hole was made in the shower room before you get to the S.T.A.R.S. office etc.. Also Nemesis is stronger and scarier than ever and he’s much much faster, MR X in RE2 is child’s play compared to Nemesis because he so fast when he’s chasing you. If you don’t have the right firepower to defeat Nemesis just run, if you don’t you’ll be continuing the game from dying a lot but that’s just only the beginning because he has 3 stages he changes to......good luck with that.....lol

Having been a fan of the original from way back when I was excited to see the modern take on it after the incredible RE2 remake last year. In short, the game in great. The added action mechanics push toward more nail biting encounters with zombies and other truly grotesque creations feel fresh and exciting. Boss fights are tense and large scale but are still manageable. The visuals, like last year's remake, are beautiful and do a great job pulling you into the story. Intricate environments are expertly interconnected and the devs really did a remarkable job. The only con is the overall length of the game. It's completable in 4-6 hours your first time through and considerably less every subsequent playthrough. The game lacks the different scenario options of it's predecessor and the branching paths to the story of the original. There are records to compete for which you are awarded points to purchase all sorts of weapons and other goodies available after you beat it. I did find it fun accumulating points and going crazy in the bonus shop and I feel like it adds a moderate amount of replayability. At face value though, this game is an incredibly fun journey that doesn't let up from start to finish and I recommend it to anyone who's ever been a survival horror fan which this series pioneered. 5 stars.

Its definitely shorter than the RE2 Remake and its a lot more action packed. The graphics look amazing and the gameplay feels great. Jill’s doge mechanic feels satisfying to pull off and Carlos’ punch counters feel awesome. Some sections were left out from the original and encounters with Nemesis are limited but atill a great game.

Good game and stays mostly close to the original in terms of story, it's a beauty to look at. The campaign is a little short but still a fun horror/action game. Resident Evil: Resistance on the other hand, didn't really care for it as much. Gameplay is too chaotic and feels generic using the zombie models from the main game. Glad it's separate install.

I avoided the modern remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 for quite some time because I was angry that Capcom did not hire the original voice actors to reprise their respective roles. However, after eventually breaking down and playing the demos for each one, I softened my stance. The gameplay is fun, and heart-pounding at the same time!

before I say anything else, this game may not be worth your 60. Buy, if you: -if you are a hardcore RE fan -enjoyed re2 remake and want more -enjoy high replay value Don’t buy, if you: -don’t like short games -don’t like one off campaigns -don’t like asymmetrical multiplayer If you call under don’t buy, wait for a sale. I say it’s worth a playthrough as it is a quality campaign, but may not be worth 60. I have played through this game twice now and have a had a great time. It’s a more action oriented RE2 in a bit more open environment. Nemesis is a fun and scary threat although his presence is completely killed after a certain point due to him becoming a boss only. Jill and Carlos are seriously so fun to watch and they are at their best here (I’d love to see them in future installments.) I enjoyed RE3 classic but I always felt it had a mish mash of weirdly executed ideas that I didn’t really care for. To get to my point, RE3 remake cuts out a lot. There are some key locations/boss fights/enemies and a game mode cut out. I personally don’t mind the removal because as I said I never took a liking or dislike towards them but I can understand why some would be upset and you should take that into account before making a purchase. As much as I enjoyed this game and can excuse the removal of some things, I can’t deny this game has a sense of laziness to it. There’s definitely a rushed feel to it. My biggest gripe is the removal of the Mercenaries game mode which seems like it’d be a no brainer given the much more action oriented approach this game carries but I guess not. I love the replay value a lot of the RE games have and this one has plenty (there’s also a store to unlock items such as infinite ammo weapons, certain items to give the characters better stats, and a costume) but it has gone down significantly with the removal of mercenaries. Pros: - A great Resident Evil game. - Still manages to scare you - A much better and more pronounced soundtrack than RE2 - Combat is still relatively fun - Story is thrilling and I’d even say better than classic - Jill and Carlos. Amazing - two extra difficulty modes that challenge the hell out of you - great voice acting - some fun boss fights - nemesis. When he works, he works exceptionally well - replay value still great albeit not as great as RE2 Cons: - has a real sense of laziness to it - no mercenaries - is a bit short (I don’t mind but some may.) - nemesis is toned down after a certain point - lacks a certain “oomph” a lot of RE games carry - gore significantly downgraded which is probably due to the increased enemy count but I feel it was downgraded just a bit too much

Seeing as I played and beat the helloutta RE3 on the PS1 many moons ago, I was excited to see what Capcom would do with this remake. It delivers! There are some flaws in the game, but overall, it is a great game. I found myself racking up points to play through Nightmare and Inferno modes, going for that coveted "S" rank, etc. The replay value is there. The graphics, sound and ambience are full-tilt Resident Evil of old. Zombies shuffle but can still move fast, the hunters always scare the crap out of me and the drain deimos are the stuff of nightmares. Nemesis is brutal, but sadly, not as relentless as I found Mr. X in RE2 Remake. The downsides are minor, but I am comparing it to RE2 Remake and Old School RE3: Story is much shorter than RE3 PS1. There is no Mercenaries mode!!! (A rare miss for Capcom) Nemesis' interactions are tense and great, but they are structured and not random like the Mr. X encounters. However, you will find yourself going back with some upgrades to exact some well deserved revenge on a lot of those critters who lit you up the first go around.

This is a worthy remake of the original classic game . There’s a lot of new stuff added but also lots of older stuff not in the game . The original will always be best but this is quite fun. Definitely stuff in this that wasn’t in the original . It’s fun but seems a little more challenging then the original as well.

Hot on the heels of last year's remake of Resident Evil 2 comes Resident Evil 3, and it's just as great...well, mostly. The developers did a stellar job bringing the characters to life with modern graphics and sound, but there are a few things missing. While most of the action and set-pieces remain faithful to the original, a couple of areas in the campaign were inexplicably cut - making this one a tad on the short side compared to Resident Evil 2. The mercenaries mode is also gone and has been replaced by a 4-player online game called Resident Evil: Resistance, where you can player as the "mastermind" or one of 4 survivors attempting to escape. It's an ok diversion, but I prefer the more traditional mercenaries mode. Being only about a 6-8 hour campaign, you may be disappointed with Resident Evil 3 if you expected something with more single player content. There are additional weapons, items, and difficulties to unlock however, so that may add some replay value for you. Overall this is a pretty good remake...it's just cut a tad short compared to the original.

Pretty much as I remembered it. Some content has been cut, but the game is very streamlined and action packed. Graphics are beautiful, gameplay and controls feel good, some replayability for trophy hunters/completionists. REResistance is bundled in and it's honestly pretty fun as well.

Many reviewers complained about how short this game is but I don’t mind it at all because you’re required to run through it multiple times to snag cool unlimited ammo weapons like the rocket launcher. If the game was any longer, I’d probably put away and let it collect dust on the shelf with my other games that I don’t play anymore. The fact that it’s short makes it tolerable to play it again and again. The graphics look amazing and so are the sound and gameplay. It’s less puzzle oriented but I appreciate this change to make this third installment remake more action oriented. I think this game is perfect. The characters are likable and it does carry the baton well from RE2 Remake in that it didn’t disappoint me. This and RE2 are now my two favorite games and I find myself replaying both games a lot, with FF7 Remake sitting on the sideline (which I barely touched).

While the game is great gameplay wise and the graphics are gorgeous the overall product is very short compared to not only RE2 Remake but the Original Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. Some areas from the original game are cut in the remake and even the "choose you path" aspect of RE3 are missing. Still a fun game and more action packed than RE2 definitely give it a try but wait for a discount. My first playthrough was around 6 hours and my second was almost 4. The online mode is just not fun at all. If this was DLC for RE2 Remake and $20-$40 dollars I'd give a 4 star rating.
