The description is incorrect - it's 17 ft, not 20. Rexing does not make a 20 ft extension cable. Outside of that, the item seems to be working fairly well so far.

Perfect Insurance policy against ICEing out.

This is a perfect fit for my needs. I have a Tesla Model Y and Mustang Mach E and this allows me to use my existing Tesla Wall Charger (with appropriate adapter) to charge the Mach E at home in a normal front-end pulled in first configuration. My existing cord length is a bit short for the Mach E as it is necessary to turn the car around and back in the garage which is not a good idea because of the possibility of running into the wall. I did not need to install a second charger for the Mach E which could have cost over $2K by the time the electrician upgraded my electric panel and ran the second circuit to the garage. I also anticipate possibly using it on the road to charge at destination chargers (hotels, etc.) where someone in an ICE (internal combustion engine) car parked in the electric car charging parking spot. This has happened to me many times and I was just out of luck until the spot opened up. Now, with an extension cord, I will be able to take a close by spot and still charge either the Tesla (with adapters) or the Mach E. To me, ICEing out a parking spot meant for electric car charging is on par with the idiots who park in the handicapped spot and are clearly NOT handicapped or do not have a hang tag or license plate giving them that privilege.
As far as the build quality, it looks like a high quality unit and it charges the Mach E perfectly. Just understand that this cord is limited to 32 amps, so be sure to set your input to that current limit. It does not get warm to the touch at that amp rating and since the unit rating is below the output of my Tesla Wall Charger at 48 amps maximum, I never need to worry with overloading my Tesla Wall Charger. It comes with a connector cover on the female end with a very sturdy looking plug and it comes with a rubber boot on the male end, presumably to make it useful to hang outdoors in the weather. I have not used it in the rain, but I suppose as long as it is not laying in a puddle of water, it will likely be just fine in a rainstorm.
This company builds quality products at reasonable prices and there is no reason to think this extension cord will be any different of an experience. Based on a previous encounter with one of their products I received with a manufacturer's defect, they responded exceptionally fast and made it right in a couple of days. I highly recommend buying this extension cord if you need the luxury of additional length or as an insurance policy to get close enough to connect to a charger if the normal spot is ICEd out.

This $160 cord was delivered on 2/1/24. The connector broke from within after the fourth use. We only used the extension cord when the vehicle was outside the garage. I wish it would have broke in the 15 day Best Buy return/replacement period. The manager at the Best Buy was a smug, matter-of-fact, gentleman, not interested in my request for a replacement. As soon as the words "store policy" were used, I was dismissed. DO NOT BUY THIS $160 EXTENSION CORD AND BE CAUTIOUS OF BUYING ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY IF THERE IS ANY CHANCE OF THE INFERIOR PRODUCT BEING EVER BEING BROKEN. ***This is the first bsd review I have ever left, anywhere.

As an electric vehicle (EV) owner I recently purchased the J1772 extension charging cable to enhance my charging experience. Let me share my thoughts about this product.
First and foremost I must commend the J1772 extension charging cable for its high-quality build. The cable is durable with a sturdy and reliable construction. I appreciate the attention to detail in its design knowing that it is built to withstand the wear and tear of regular use.
Another aspect worth noting is the length of the extension cable. At a generous length it provides the flexibility to park my EV at a comfortable distance from the charging station. This advantage allows me to conveniently charge my vehicle without worrying about maneuvering difficulties or limitations caused by distance.
Furthermore the J1772 extension charging cable's compatibility with various EV models is commendable. It easily connects to my vehicle's charging port ensuring a secure fit and efficient charging process. I appreciate not having to worry about compatibility issues as it works flawlessly with my EV.
In terms of performance the J1772 extension charging cable delivers consistent charging speeds. I have experienced no significant deviations or slow charging rates while using this cable. This reliability ensures that my EV is always charged efficiently allowing me to confidently plan my journeys without any concerns about battery life.
One aspect that could be improved is the cable's flexibility. While it is not overly stiff a slightly more pliable and maneuverable design would enhance ease of use especially when dealing with tight spaces or challenging charging station setups.
Finally the safety features of the J1772 extension charging cable are worth mentioning. It incorporates robust insulation and protective measures to prevent any potential hazards during charging. This peace of mind is crucial when dealing with electricity and knowing that this cable prioritizes safety adds to its value.
In conclusion the J1772 extension charging cable is a reliable and worthwhile addition to my EV charging setup. Its high-quality construction generous length compatibility with various EV models consistent performance and safety features make it a worthy investment. With only minor improvements needed in terms of flexibility this extension cable has undoubtedly made my EV charging experience more convenient and efficient.

I mean who doesn't need an extension cable? You can never go wrong with having one. Sure you could probably get by without one but it sure makes life easier. An example being if you only have one charger in your garage. Sure, if the EV is parked right next to it, there might be no issues, but if you are one car away, the cable might not reach. Then you always have to re-park your cars. With the J1772 extension from Rexing, you don't have to worry about that. Another issue that I have noticed with EV charging is when cars (ICE or otherwise) who are not charging are parked in the EV charging spot. Then this cable can help reach your car. I have not noticed any drop in charging speeds when I use the extension cable. This cable can reportedly support up to 40 A charging. I did not try to experiment with currents higher than 32 A. It would have been nice if it did support higher currents but I guess it would cost more. I do wish there was a locking mechanism so people couldn't steal it or unplug you maliciously (which alot of people do surprisingly!).
All in all, I love this extension cable and it makes life alot easier.

Give yourself some slack when charging your EV

I am currently using this in conjunction with the Rexing 32A Portable Fast Charger and what a combination! Its rugged construction means I will not be worried when charging my electric vehicle in adverse weather conditions. It is fully weatherproof and the build quality is excellent which offers a very long service life. This is compatible with both level 1 and level 2 chargers with the J1772 connection. My setup using both the Rexing Portable Fast Charger and this extension cable charges my vehicles exactly the same as my OEM charger setup. I think of this cable as an extension cord; it’s great to be able to add an extra 17 ft of length to reach my garage or driveway easily. When I combine the length of the Rexing Portable Charger and this extension cable I am getting almost 35 feet of extra slack if needed. Tight setups are really a thing of the past now. I used to worry about the extra tension caused when my charge cable barely managed to reach the charge port of my EV even after I park in a certain spot in my driveway to accommodate the chargers reach - not anymore. Plenty of reach now and I highly recommend!

I recently purchased a 2020 Ki Niro EV and am in the process of becoming comfortable with making longer and longer journeys. As such I've been carrying a variety of charging cables and adaptors for every scenario.
In the case that I can't park near a charger (I live in an area where people with big gas-powered trucks think it's funny to park in the EV spots) I've been keeping this in the back of the car. It's lightweight and comes in a small, attractive carrying case and doesn't take up much space. It's too big to fit under the deck, but doesn't take much of the main storage area at all.
It does exactly what it needs to do. It's an extension cable with no smart features or any fancy extra uses. I tried it with my wall-mounted charger and it worked as expected. It should be noted this tops out at 32 amps, so I did turn down the charging rate in my car as the wall charger I have is 48 amps.
The car end locks in place automatically just like the un-extended plug. The end the wall charger plugs into appears to be a large bulkhead-like connector which is a little weird. On the other hand it also makes the connector secure and more durable over the long term. Additionally there's a cover that closes on it. If you have an indoor charger and need this to access it from farther away you should feel comfortable closing the cover and leaving it outside.
Also note, this is only for the standard J1772 connector. This will not extend an DC charger or the non-standard Tesla cable.
This is a great thing to have as part of your travel kit and highly recommended.

There isn’t much to say about an extension cord. Of course, when I bought my first EV, the charging port was on the inconvenient side of my Jeep in relation to the location of the charging receptacle on the side of my house in my normal parking position in the driveway. So I started backing in to my driveway every day. Due to the distance from my house to the driveway, the charging cord just about reaches my charging port when I’m backed in. As you may know, almost all charging cords max out at 25 feet. That’s what I have. When my wife bought her first EV, we ran into a conundrum. She has trouble backing up into the driveway, so we needed an alternative solution. At first, we just draped this over my fence that hides the garbage cans and pulled it out every time. It’s waterproof but it wasn’t nice having the connected ends sitting in the dirt. Last weekend, I added another 4x4 post behind the existing post and drilled a hole in it to fit the adapter and mounted it with exterior screws. My wife simply plugs our existing charger into the post and has the length to reach her car head in. I actually started pulling in the normal way again instead of back in. How convenient! Excellent product. Please note it is rated for 32A, which translates to a 40A breaker.

Good extension charging cable for my Tesla

The Rexing - J1772 extension charging cable is a decent cable that will allow you to charge your EV as well as your Tesla EV. The build quality is pretty solid but I’m not sure how good is their quality control. When I received the unit, it was packaged well in a sturdy box. The cable comes in a nice zip up carrying case. However, when I unzipped the carrying case I noticed a screw, washer, and bolt lying inside of the zip up carrying case. I knew it went to something important but wasn’t exactly sure what it went to. I then noticed that the adapter that connects to the hose was missing a screw. I was then able to place the missing screw, washer, and bolt in its proper place. When I place the Rexing J1772 adapter onto the end of this adapter I was not able to get it to charge my Tesla. However, when I placed my official Tesla J1772 adapter onto the end of cable adapter it worked perfectly. The cable length is fairly long and I did not have an issue getting it to reach from the plug in my garage to my vehicle. Overall, it’s a fairly good cable that will get the job done.

The EV Extension charging cable you should have

Rexing J1772 32A Extension Cable
This is a great extension cable for stretching the availability of charging your EV. It is compatible with Level 1 and Level 2 chargers and is 17 feet of heavy duty IP55 waterproof that can use up to 32 Amps. You will quickly wonder why you didn’t have one of these in your kit. Perfect when someone has hogged the charger space but is not using the charger. Or the charger didn’t have enough of a cord for your use. Maybe you needed to charge a car in your driveway or your normal charging position at home is being used. With this cable you have an extra 17 ft to clip onto the J1772 and get your car charged up using up to 32 Amps. And it works even in harsh weather as the plug in is a nice heavy duty waterproof connector.
I have been using this for over a week and notice no drop in speed or negative effects or heating. And the Case is nice heavy duty easy to use and store the cable in it. The only thing I can think of to improve this cable is that it does not have any kind of lock to help prevent theft.

Handy Accessory for any J1772 EV

This extension cable for J1772 electric vehicle chargers is a very handy thing to have if your car uses this type of plug. Since it extends from the vehicle-side plug, it's quite versatile. You can use it at home in case you have a charger that just won't reach (maybe it has a short cord, maybe you just don't have an outlet in your garage close enough to your vehicle, or maybe you added a second EV that parks farther away). But it can be just as useful when you're away from home, as it'll give you flexibility in how you park your vehicle in order to assure that public Level 1 and 2 chargers will reach with ease.
This extension cable has worked perfectly for me. It just works, as you'd expect an extension to. I have not yet used it at its maximum rated current (32A), only 24A. At 24A, I have not noticed any significant difference in heat build-up in the plugs, and so I have no reason not to believe it will work fine at 32A continuous current. I've used this extension with two different chargers (one made by the same brand) and it connects securely with both. It comes with a convenient little canvas carrying case, which is nice for stowing it in the vehicle between charging sessions, so that it's always available if I should need it.
Really, the only thing I'd like to see is a heavier duty cable used in order to officially support 40A continuous current. Many Level 2 chargers can support that current. Because this is a simple extension cable, neither the charger nor the vehicle will likely be able to automatically limit the current to 32A for safety. Therefore, you'll want to keep an eye on the chargers you use this with to make sure you don't exceed 32A (or 7.7 kW). Also be aware that some public charging networks also forbid the use of third-party adapters with their chargers in their Terms of Service, and this extension surely falls in that category. They cannot really detect if you are using it, but you might be held liable to damage caused by misuse.
Nonetheless, if you are comfortable managing the charging current, this is a handy cable that seems well-made and works fine as advertised.

Extension of greatness

Admittedly, I always try to force a fit or distance and never feel the need to get an extension cable. Even with a charging cable for my phones or any cable, I try to make due with what I have, so I never thought I would need this extension cable, and honestly still feel that I don't, buttttt, it is a very very nice convenience to not have to worry about something like this.
There's not much to talk about with this because it is what it is--it is an extension cable. But on the very positive end, although extending it you would think it would potentially affect charging speed for various reasons (no longer a direct connection/length of cable perhaps decreasing charging time), you'll be happy to know that I have not found that to be the case. Charging is still lightning fast. I understand there may be circumstances where it's impossible to charge without this cable, maybe a flood or something. This would really be a one-off use in my opinion. Not something I would have attached all the time unless needed.
I just don't think the price should be nearly the same price as the adapter itself. An extension cable in my opinion should be priced less. This is way too expensive for what it is, again in my opinion, but it does the job and is useful if you need it.

Excellent, Flexible, Long extension cord...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Rexing J1772 extension cord is an excellent extension for your EV/PHEV charging needs where a J1772 L1 or L2 charger is available, but additional reach is needed to get the cord to your vehicle's receptacle.
The vehicle/male end of the connection is very similar to Rexing's J1772 charger ends from their full charging products, this time replicated as the male end of the extension. The "female" end, which appears to support being mounted to a wall or used as a receptacle outlet installed somewhere (I'm unsure of the use case for this) has its own very different cap, and seems to be somewhat weather resistant.
The cord itself measures just shy of 20 feet, but is made of a VERY pliable, almost bouncy cord rubber, allowing for excellent flexibility and resistance to snagging/tangling, but is also VERY easy to coil up and store or hang wherever its used.
Its an extension cord - There isn't much else to say, except that its rated for use with ANY J1772 charger/cord up to a 32A current, so this will work as an extension to L2 chargers as well - We have decided to keep this one in the car for extension use when connecting to L1 and L2 chargers at establishments where the cords are either too short or are too kinked up from overuse and abuse to safely reach out receptacle on our Jeep 4xE PHEV.

Excellent product for EV owners

This is not the first Rexing product I have purchased for my EV and it won't be the last. This J1772 Extension charging cable is a great product for any EV owner to have. I currently have 2 EV's that park in the same garage and now there is no need for me to shuffle the cars around in order to charge once. The charging rate of my level 2 home charger was exactly as if I plugged it in directly to the car so there is definitely no degradation of charging rate. The cable also has a IP66 weather rating so you don't have to fear using this cable outside in inclement weather. This is great for people in snowy climates just in case access to their garage is limited due to the snow.
At no point during my charging cycle did I feel as if the cable became extremely hot or unsafe. I was also able to test level 1 charging by borrowing my sisters plug in hybrid which is limited to level 1 charging only.
I honestly would also consider carrying this in my car because there have a few instances that I have had to wait to charge my car due to limited access caused by ICE cars being parked in the EV charging spots.
Overall Rexing has come through with another high quality product for my EV
