Misleading length
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Misleading information from BestBuy. This cable is not 20 feet long as advertised. It is 17 feet. The Rexing website states it is 17 feet long as does the box it came in. The entire reason to buy this extension is for added cable length. Length actually does matter this time.

Excellent Product w/ Minor Customer Service Issue
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review of Rexing The Rexing J1772 EV Extension Cable is an excellent product. It makes several claims and seems to achieve or exceed all of them. A question would be, however, is this something I need? In my case as the owner of a plug-in hybrid, the answer is a resounding yes. Non-Tesla public chargers are notoriously unreliable and often difficult to access. Should a pile of snow or an EV parked askew block access to the charger, the additional 17’ of cable would make charging much easier and accessible. Features I really liked include its weight. At only 5.2 pounds, it is easy to just throw it in the vehicle in its nice canvas-like zippered case. Also, the cable is a bit lighter than the one from my home charger, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem. The connectors are covered with weather-resistant closures that snap open with a reassuring sturdiness. Connecting to the vehicle and to another cable was smooth and precise. One gets the sense this was engineered for durability, even in inclement weather (rathe for use -41 to + 131 degrees F.) or other difficult situations. Indeed, a close examination shows no sign of cost-cutting or skimping on materials. Strangely, while it is rated by the manufacturer for more than 10,000 uses, it carries an only an 18-month warranty. Somewhat concerningly, when I tried to register the device at the site indicated in the enclosed documents, there was an error message that the site did not exist. It took 3 calls to customer service during their stated business hours before I was able to speak to an agent (messages were not returned). He explained that to register I needed to ignore the provided information and go to the company’s main website. This worked well. One note of caution: The Rexing is for use only with Level 1 and 2 chargers, and is not rated for DC Fast Chargers. Overall, this is a great product to toss in the car for “just in case” events or when you have to park your vehicle outside the garage and your home charger cable won’t reach. I am impressed and pleased to have this cable in my vehicle.

Good option for specific EV charging needs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very straight forward accessory that I haven’t seen before now. A 17ft long extension cord that has a female J1772 port on one end and a regular J1772 plug on the other. If you are plugging into a dryer outlet either to avoid having a circuit installed in a garage/carport or because you are a renter and are not allowed to make changes to the house you’re in, then this is potentially a good solution for situations like that. One negative that limits what you can do with it however is it is only rated to up to 32a of power delivery. My Ford portable charger outputs at 32a so it is a perfect pairing for that, and many portable chargers are similar. However, my home installed wall charger is 40a and others can be up to 48a. So, it cannot be safely used with my wall mounted charger making it somewhat limited for me other than in a traveling situation. I keep my portable charger in the car at all times for emergencies or traveling, so this extension now also resides in my car in case I need it for example if I were to visit family and charge with my portable that may not reach. On the same lower amperage point, it is also not compatible in any way with dc fast charging, only level 2 up to 32a. That fact also excludes basically any public charging other than maybe a level 2 at a hotel. There is no locking mechanism on the female end so it can easily be disconnected even if your car locks the other end while charging so that is another limitation to be aware of. It does work great, built well and includes a nice case for keeping it cleanly spooled up and out of the way when not in use. Ultimately, for how specific your needs have to be to be able to use this I might not necessarily recommend it, but you’ll know who you are if you can put a cable like this to use.

Rexing extension cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rexing extension cord is great Packing: Packaging and unboxing was so impressive. Felt like allot of thought and consideration was placed into this product. Once the box was opened out came a storage bag to store easily. The cable unwrapped easily and made for a great first impression Quality: I then checked the quality of the cable and connections. Top notch quality and durability. Plugged the cable into my existing charging cable and gained another 17’ so i could plug in my BMW i4 to charge within a few hours. The i4 charging port id on the passenger rear side of the car. The cable reached without stressing it or stretching it. The cable is a solid cable and was very impressed with the durability. Unwinding the cable was easy installing the extension cord to the existing cable and disconnecting the cable was easy as could be imagined. The box was of high quality and marketing has done a great job of presenting quality and durability from the get go. Instructions and walkthrough images were very precise. Simplicity to make this happen was flakes. Highly recommend this product to any one who needs an extended cable

Every EV owner should have this accessory
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of people have electric vehicles now. I currently own one and have intentions of buying another. With friends and family coming over and wanting to charge or just to top off their own electric vehicles, it was becoming a pain to keep moving the cars so that they could use my charger at home. With this extension cable, I no longer need to do that. With the length of this extension cable, I can reach any part of my driveway. Very cool. The cable feels solid and give me confidence that not only will it weather the elements but also last a long time. The connectors on both ends are solid and fits perfectly, no play on either side. We actually got a lot of rain one morning which made me curious about how waterproof the connector actually was, when I went to check the connector port and the connector, not a drop of water was inside of it. This is even though it was laying on the ground. With a rated 40 amp load, this cable handles charging my vehicle at 32 amps without a problem. I didn't see any loss in charge time with the extension cable. It also comes with a convenient carrying case. I plan on taking this with my Rexing Tesla to J1772 adapter when visiting friends so I can top off my vehicle. Another note, I really like Rexing products because of the quality to value of their items. This is another winner by Rexing.

extra 20-feet of cable when you need it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I definitely see this as a must have in every EV vehicle. Some people are so rude they park their cars and trucks blocking the EV charger. So, its great to have an extension cable when all you need is a quick fill and go. Twenty foot long, the plug is solid to the touch. The rubber boot keeps debris out of the delicate contacts. I might add a slathering of dielectric grease to insure no water gets into the copper and corrodes it. (rain and snow protection) The receptacle end has an easy thumb activator to pop open the cover exposing the receptacle. This too will keep the water , snow and dirt out of the connector. The SO cable is thinner because the expected voltage running in it is between 450 and 750 VAC. Its made of three (3) conductor 6.0mm stranded wire. The cable itself seems resiliant, but I wouldn run it across the concrete too often. I did do a little research into the idea of using any type of extension cabling on certain chargers. Like most electrical devices, there is a functional limit to their usefulness. Some chargers specifically state not to use any type of extension cord, so look into this on your own and verify if the one you have at home or use on the road supports adding extension cords to them. Still a great option in my opinion.

Great Extension Cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Rexing cable is a nice heavy-duty J1772 extension cable, expanding the reach of your J1772 charger or great for adding length to a public charger as well. For me it is a perfect match to the Rexing J1772 charger which I currently use to charge my Tesla Model 3 at home. The thick 17ft extension cable is well made and quite durable, featuringIP66 waterproof rating for all weather use. One end features a male J1772 with rubber dust cover while the other end has a female J1772 with a spring loaded cover to keep the terminals clean. Though I only have pushed 16A through it so far, the cable is capable of up to 32A level 2 charging, making it quite versatile as it can be used for both level 1 and level 2 J1772 chargers. If you drive an EV, you know there are instances where you may arrive at a charging destination only to find a vehicle parked in front of the charger (ICEing). With this cable you can easily rectify the dilemma by extending the reach of the J1772 port another 20ft! Rexing also includes a nice canvas bag to store the extension cable in, making it a breeze to store this in your car. For use at home or on the go, the Rexing J1772 extension cable is a great addition to your EV charging equipment.

Works great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an extension cable for level 1 and 2 EV chargers. I already own a portable EV level 2 charger but this extension allows me to charge the car without getting in the garage. It comes with a zipper carry bag which I use to store the extension when not in use. The weight is just right and is not heavy which would restrict the maneuvering of the cord while the car position changes. The cable's quality is good and is very sturdy. It looks like it will last for a long time. I used this with a level 2 charger and it doesn't get heated or lose the conductivity while the car is being charged. I generally park my car outside the garage and this works well even when it rains as it's waterproof ensuring safe and reliable charging for my EV. This comes with an 18-month warranty to cover any manufacturing issues. The extension cord is 17ft long and when attached with the charge the total length becomes around 35ft. So this cord gives another benefit of charging two cars without moving car positions in the garage, provided you need to charge two cars. I really like this extension and would recommend this as well.

Add some distance to your J1772 charging cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you need a little more distance to charge at a full 32A this extender is for you. The connection ends are solidly built. Both ends firmly connect to their respective counterparts. A good click lets you know the ends are fully connected. The cable itself is flexible and easy to manage. It comes in a nice bag to easily carry it where you need too. I found my current charger let me charge in my garage with no issues, but if I wanted to charge the car outside the garage while I cleaned or needed the room I couldn't. The Rexing extenders extra 17ft makes it possible. My charger had no issues with the extender on, and a full charge made it through to the car. Nothing got hot or seemed out of sorts. Both ends of the extender have caps to help protect the connectors. The J1772 connector button lets you easily remove the connector from your car when done. Attached are pictures of the ends and the bag. Quality build and it works like it should. It's not heavy and I was able to add it to my existing cord holder when wanted. Also has an IP66 waterproof rating to use when raining etc.

Useful for Any EV Owner!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an extension cable for EVs equipped with a J1772 charging port. I used it with the Rexing 32 Amp mobile charger on my F-150 Lightning Platinum and it worked as expected. I didn’t see any drop in charge speed or any negative effects at all when using the extension cable. There’s a lot of use cases for this extension: - If you have more than 1 EV in your garage but only 1 charger. You can charge both without physically moving the vehicles. - Some Level 2 Chargers don’t have long enough cords as they weren’t built with large EVs like an F-150 in mind. - Need to use a Level 1 outlet attached to a building and don’t have a 120v extension cord handy. - ICE vehicle (internal combustion engine) is parked in the EV charger spot The last one is probably the most useful for me as you would not believe how many drivers of ICE vehicles will simply ignore the signs that say EV parking only and block a spot when you desperately need a charge. The only downside I can think of is and I admit it’s minor is there’s not a way to lock the extension cable in place so if someone likes it, they can easily take it. Note you cannot use it at Level 3 DC Fast chargers but as far as I know there are NO extension cables available for Level 3 due to the cooling requirements of the cables needed to transfer that much energy that fast. So don’t buy this (or anything) if you were thinking you could use it at fast chargers. Pros: 17ft Extension Up to 32 Amps. IP55 Waterproof Handy when you need it Thick Heavy Duty Cable Cons: No lock Overall – very useful and works great. Will stay in my frunk and gives me peace of mind if I need a little bit more cable while traveling.

When you just need a little more reach
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this extension cord, it has enabled us not have to move cars around to charge the Tesla while we wait for the permanent Tesla charger to be installed. Of course you need the adapter with a Tesla. Also, if my wife steals my spot it also helps me reach my leaf. The other ways i've used this already is to reach a charger that has been ICEd out. Even where I live which is pretty EV friendly I still run into people that think it's fun to park their ICE vehicle in the charging spots or worse other EV drivers that think that the charging spots are just premium reserved spots for them and don't bother actually charging. This helps alleviate that issue most of time now. Lastly, when I went to my aunt's out in the middle of nowhere I had the issue that an outlet wasn't by where the cars are, with the 120V charger and this I was able to reach an outlet to charge a little bit to avoid having to stop so soon and 120V was more than enough for the few days I was there to get a decent charge. Overall, having an extension cord is just nice and sometimes a serious time saver especially if you have a short range ev like a leaf. One thing to keep in mind, is this extension cord is rated for 30A. Make sure you are using a charger that is less than 30A or can be configured to 30A just to be safe. The cable is thin and easy to coil and the handle is lightweight and nice. Overall, it is a nice thing to have handy and would recommend having one.

Get an extension, not a 2nd charger!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Rexing’s J1772 extension cord is a cost effective solution for your 2nd EV. When I got my Nissan LEAF 3 years ago, it came with a charger. I had an electrician put an outlet in my garage and I started plugging in the car on that side of the garage. A month ago, we added a 2nd EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric, to the household. I thought I would just swap which car was parked on the right side of the garage and save the trouble of getting a 2nd charger. The original charging cable was 15’, long enough for that car we had. With the extension cord, I no longer have to worry about which side of the garage each car gets parked on. The cord adds 20’ to my charger, which is more than enough to come around to the other side without putting any strain on the charging plug or the car. While the cable gets slightly warm, it charged my 2nd car overnight at it’s full 6.9kW rate. While the car was charging, the plug locked to the car as expected. The connectors on both ends seem well made and I expect them to hold up to stress well. The extension plug is solid when connected. The cord comes with a bag for when it’s not being used. Overall, I would highly recommend this extension cord to anyone who needs some extra flexibility for charging their EV. It's a great product that will make charging your car much easier.

Very convenient
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very convenient extension cable for SAE J1772 electric vehicle charger. It's been useful for me when parking further away from our home charger. It's also very portable, and it comes with a storage bag. Because it's made to be portable, the electrical cable is thinner than the one from the wall charger, and it's rated for up to 32A (Hardwired home chargers are typically rated for 50A), which in retrospect I didn't consider. The vehicle side connector seems well made, comparable to the one from the wall charger. The female side that ties into the wall charger seems custom made and works well, with good solid connections. The vehicle is able to lock the plug while charging. The female side has a hinged cover and the vehicle side has a rubber cup that’s attached to the handle to cover the contacts when not in use. Overall, great to have. Lightweight and easy to roll back into its storage bag. Remember it's rated for 32A and 17 ft. long. I would've preferred a 48A extension cable instead but this will do.

Quick charge, long cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using the Rexing J1772 32A Extension Cable on my car i must say i do like it. I love that it has 20 ft of cable because i can extend it to wherever i need without having to move my vehicle around. This is alot of convenience. I do which it had the charging indicator like the J1772 Ev charger to let me know where i am at in my charge.... but thats okay that it doesnt. I love that its compact, easy to unroll, and comes with a protection case. Its easy to use, charges faster than my normal charger for my vehicle, and has over heat protection which is great because its one of the things i worry about when charging.... especially since i do sometimes forget that i have my vehicle plugged in and that i need to go unplug it. Overall though it gets the job done, universal, charges quickly and a charger that i would reccomend to keep on hand in your vehicle for when you are traveling. It will have your vehicle fully charged in under 2 hours which is great. The extention is highly needed when you are unable to park close to your outlet.

Must-Have Cable For Any Electric Vehicle Owner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been testing the Rexing J1772 extension charging cable (32A, 17ft) for a week, and overall I like it. It's a must-have for any electric or plug in hybrid vehicle owner. This cable is well-built and easy to use. on one end It has a female J1772 connector, and a male J1772 connector on the other end, so you can use it with any Level 1 or Level 2 J1772 charger. In my use the connections are secure and never get hot or warm, even when charging at high amperages. Furthermore, I did not notice any parasitic loss while using it and I also like that it comes with a nice canvas storage bag, which is a nice touch. The 17-foot length is perfect for most charging situations. It should be long enough to reach your vehicle from most outlets, and it's also long enough to use at public charging stations where the cable may be too short. Overall, I highly recommend the Rexing J1772 extension charging cable to any electric or hybrid vehicle owner. It's a well-made and easy-to-use cable that will make charging your vehicle more convenient.

Much needed accessory
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having option such as this rexing charging extension is something you don’t think you or know you need until you actually have and use it. This is an accessory that is highly over looked because we often charge at other facilities that allow for just enough space to park and hook up. However there are time when I visit friends and family and I’m trying to get creative on how to hook up safely and and charge my vehicle. So, I strongly suggest getting this accessory. I equate this to have an extension cord and wanting to use a tool for work and needing an extension cord. I have to the tool but I can’t reach the outlet. Having an outlet to charge my car and not being able to reach it is the worse I’m sure you can agree. This extension actually rolls up neatly and the storage bag is perfect for travel and living around and staying organized. The connection seems secure and made out of very durable materials so I feel safe hooking up and using this product. It doesn’t take away from the experience
