Superb with my Mini Cooper Electric

I never thought I would need this, but after using this with my white Mini Cooper Electric, I know it's just a cable end of the day, but man is it reliable or what. You know how depending on the battery or cable while charging your phone for example, the speed can depend on the cable or the battery. Sometimes a bad cable can cause slow charging speeds. This is one fast charging cable hoowee. It's speed and reliability along with its portability, plus the extension cable that you can get in addition if needed, it's truly a must-have in your car on the go if you feel you need it and go on long trips or just want to have as back up. Aesthetically it looks nice and it's a great convenience showing the real-time updates on the status of the charge with LED lights, along with all the customization you can do. You can definitely tell the difference in charge speed significantly reducing the charge time by many hours. I usually charge my car over night so I don't really pay attention to how long it takes, but on the road, it really makes a difference.

Absolutely awesome! I have used this charger for about a month now and can say that it is absolutely incredible. I have a cable shorter than this that came with my car (Hyundai Kona EV, and Tesla M3). This charger was light weight, and was easy to move because of that. The case that this comes with made it easy to fit in the frunk or any other storage area. The construction quality of the case gives me no concern of the longevity of the case. I was able to charge my car daily for a month on this and determined that the charging cable gets warm from the current, but not hot or unsafe. the adapter that you plug into the car was also well made and should have a long life cycle if you're using it everyday. The light on the brick close to the wall makes it easy to see if the vehicle is charging. My Tesla EV was able to charge with this with either the Rexing adapter or the one that came with the car. If you are in need of an extra charging cable or replace the one that came with your EV, this is the way to go!

This is a nicely made charging unit. While access to NEMA 15-50 plugs is rare, they aren’t too expensive to add. My electrician charged $400 to dedicate a breaker and run a separate line for the 240 plug. This works great as a charger. It’s a good “back up” charger if you have one of the super fancy app driven chargers. Build quality is a lot better than the cable that came with my EV, as well as the discount charger that is a top seller on the internet. This charger feels like it will last many years and many charging cycles. It’s definitely worth having as a charger to keep in the car when visiting friends/family who hopefully won’t have an issue with you unplugging their 240v oven or dryer to charge your car for a few hours. Overall, I highly recommend having a Level 2 charger or two. It’s a tremendously useful timesaver for keeping a charge and having your EV ready for adventures throughout the day. Level 1 works fine for charging your car while you are at work for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.

It’s always a good idea to pick up an extra charge cable for your computer or phone so why not have one for your electric vehicle(s)? The Rexing portable charger has OEM build quality and includes a very convenient LED display to show you your vehicle’s charging status and rate. It also includes storage bag for transport when it’s not in use which is a nice and unexpected touch. The charger charges my electric motorcycle the exact same as my OEM cable does and I really appreciate Rexing’s attention to detail as well as quality and I feel this charger will serve me well into the years of my ownership. It is very compact and weighs about 10 lbs and while I can’t carry it on my motorcycle without a backpack, it fits nicely in my trunk space and I take it with me on trips just in case my OEM charger breaks - it is truly nice to have a backup. I use the NEMA plug where I would plug in my clothes dryer and use an extension cord to reach the electric vehicles in the driveway and it works like a charm.

The Rexing J1772 Level 2 Nema 15-50 EVSE works well. I had no issues with it connecting or charging. The build quality seems decent and it feels similar to my OEM EVSE. The charging speeds were consistent and I experienced no issues on that end. I did not experience any serious drop off in speeds at different states of charge. The cable did not get excessively hot even hours after charging. It comes with a carrying case which is great as nobody likes things clunking around in the back of your car. The LCD screen is a nice touch and does add a touch of quality to it. The only issue that I have with this is that it does not use adapters. If you only have a level 1 NEMA 5-15 plug, then you need to buy a whole separate separate charger which honestly is not cost-effective or environmentally friendly. Conversely, if you have a NEMA 5-15 level 1 EVSE and want to have a NEMA 15-50 EVSE just for the rare occasions you go camping or have access, it's not a simple adapter. All in all, it works great. I think Rexing could easily make the plugs adaptable.

Even though I have a dedicated level 2 charger I picked up one of these for travel. Combined with a level 1 portable charger and a Tesla to J1772 charger I'm ready for anything, especially good since charging is all over the place at the moment. Since my in-laws usually get a rental home for the family in the summer this will come in handy in any situation where I can find a dryer outlet in or near the garage, especially with the 17 foot cable. It comes in a nice round carry case that matches the one the Rexing extension cable (which I also have) and takes up very little cargo space. On the plug end there's a small digital display that shows stats like how many amps the car is pulling, charge level and elapsed time spent charging. Pretty cool, but kind of superfluous since most EVs have an app that shows all of this. Mine in particular also shows all of this on the dashboard and has status lights, so this is neat to look at but pretty unnecessary. While this can be a primary home charger if you have a 220V outlet, keep in mind that it tops out at 32 amps. A dedicated home charger is usually 40-50 amps, so this will take somewhat longer to charge. If you're charging overnight the time difference is probably not an issue. It does have mounting holes on the back if you do decide to use this as a home charger. If you're building out a kit of chargers for travel use, or even if you want an inexpensive home charger I would highly recommend this charger.

From the moment I bought my EV, I debated what kind of charger I would use. For the first could have weeks, I used a regular level 1 15A plug (the one that came with my vehicle) and life was quite miserable. My next solution was to repurpose an old 240V, 20A air conditioning receptacle by turning it around on an exterior wall and charging with a cheap charger that way. After that, I moved up to using an old 240V, 30A line that used to be central air and had been repurposed to a convenience receptacle. My wife ended up ordering her own EV and we immediately began planning for something faster due to our busy lifestyle with a lot of driving which required similar charging times. We knew we would have to constantly wake up in the middle of the night to change over the plug to the second vehicle if we didn’t get something faster and relegate the 30A to a secondary charger. We didn’t want to spend $2000+ on a full 50A setup, so we decided to pull 8 gauge wire (much cheaper and easier to work with than 6 gauge) and install a 14-50 receptacle on a 40A breaker with a weatherproof box. This charger can come with us when we leave the house and costs significantly less (around 50% less) than 50A wall mounted chargers. It’s 100% waterproof and has all the information we need on it. It displays voltage, current, wattage, hanging time, and total power. You can set the charging time and amperage. Excellent product for the price, especially considering I don’t need Bluetooth to charge my car… I just need it to be at 100% when I wake up!

Good 240V charger but doesn't work on 120V at all

First things first, this charger does work, if you are looking for a charger that is 240V with adjustable current settings (which I highly recommend) this will work for you. Which is why it gets three stars, the loss of two stars is because of perceived functionality that I'm not sure if they intended but it is in the instructions and kind of advertised at first but I think that it was just pictures that got included from their 120V version of the charger. But at the same time for me I wouldn't consider buying a mobile charger that can't do 120 and 240V. This charger only comes with the 50A plug, there is no other plug in the box, the pictures showed a regular pigtail as well but there wasn't an adapter in the box so I used an my own adapter to plug it into a regular outlet and it wouldn't even turn on, I then plugged it into the 240V outlet and set it to 12A to see if that made a difference but still no go; the input on the devices says 90V as the lowest input so they must have done a software block or something, but I couldn't find any instructions on making it work on 120V just a reference to the 5-15 plug a few times, but I came to the conclusion the instruction manual could be for multiple devices and then they would just have to change the cover per printing. Now on the 240V side it worked great and as advertised, I was able to derate the charge when I used an adapter to plug it into a 240V 30A outlet. The ground reference disable is definitely an awesome feature as you can just select that setting versus needing to fake a ground if you ever need to charge off of a generator. The cable is a little stiff but works well enough. Overall, it is an awesome charger for the 240V side and the only reason I wouldn't recommend it is purely because I believe mobile chargers should be able to do 120 or 240 and be as adaptable as possible, this one is almost there. If you aren't in the same boat as me this is an awesome charger.
