Customers appreciate the M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam's excellent video quality, ease of use, and straightforward installation. Many also highlight the helpful GPS functionality and the performance of the rear camera. While some wish it included an SD card and noted limitations with night vision, the positive feedback on image clarity and user-friendliness is prominent. A few users mentioned some vibration at higher speeds.

I purchased my truck during the pandemic when parts were in short supply. Therefore, I was unable to get some of the features I wanted including the upgraded electronics package which would have come with several driver assist features which I was accustomed to with my other vehicles. Unfortunately, some of those features were unable to added after my purchase so I have kept my eyes out for aftermarket products I could use to fill those voids when I came across the Rexing Mirror Dash Camera which not only could record as a dashcam but also had a rear-view camera and built in GPS with some driver assistance features including collision alerts, blind spot assistance and theft monitoring amongst other things. The other great thing about having the rear camera installed on my truck is I can monitor anything I’m towing better than relying on my mirrors as the display is much clearer and larger. It also works great when my truck bed cover is folded up and I’m unable to see out of my rear window.
One of the best features of the Rexing Max Pro is that mounts directly over your existing rear-view mirror and was relatively simple to install. You have the option to either plug the mirror into your cigarette lighter or hard wire it to your vehicle with the included wiring kit. If you hardwire the mirror, the mirror will automatically display the rear camera when you put your vehicle in reverse. Since I am not comfortable with wiring it myself, I opted for the easy cigarette lighter option. The other wires that need to be run throughout your vehicle are the rear camera and the GPS antenna which were both self-explanatory. You will need to install a Micro SD card if you plan on recording video or taking pictures as this kit does not come with one. They do include a tool to run the wires inside your vehicle’s molding which was also very useful.
Once everything was set up, I was ready to power the mirror dash camera up and sync it to my smartphone. The mirror itself was very responsive to my touch commands, easy to navigate and the 4K image looks amazing for both the front and rear cameras. You can easily switch between the front and rear views as well as have a split screen by either pressing the button on the screen or swiping on the screen. The date, time and my vehicle’s speed is displayed on the right side of the screen for convenience. While navigating through the features on the mirror, you can toggle between using the advanced driver assist system (ADAS), lane change assist and blind spot detection which all alert you to potential collisions. However, the voice on the mirror that alerts you is very hard to understand and sounds muffled. After syncing the mirror camera to my smartphone’s app via Wi-Fi I was able to view the same video on my phone and access additional features.
Overall, I have been very pleased with the Rexing M2 Max Pro mirror dash camera; it was a great addition to my truck since I wasn’t able to get them factory installed and comes at a much more reasonable price.

Rexing M2 Max Pro: Your Eyes on the Road

The Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam is a great looking device designed to enhance driving safety and provide peace of mind for you and your vehicle. With its advanced features, exceptional video quality, and reliable performance, it's an impressive dashcam solution. In this review I'll discuss build quality, installation process, performance, and overall value. If I could sum up this review in one sentence, I will tell you I feel like I received exceptional value and quality here with the Rexing Dash Cam; I'm impressed.
* Build Quality
The M2 Max Pro mirror dash cam's quality and sleek design is evident from the moment you take it out of the box. The mirror feels sturdy, has decent weight and size, and looks to be well crafted for daily handling and use. The camera lens is securely housed in a protective casing, safeguarding it from potential damage. The overall design is sleek and modern, and it integrates well into the interior of my Honda Ridgeline. I like the large size of the rearview mirror and it feels high quality. It's slightly large than my existing mirror. There's a camera on the backside of the mirror that sees in front of you. Nothing feels cheap here.
* Installation
The installation process for the M2 Max Pro is generally straightforward. The mirror replaces your existing rearview mirror and it can be powered by your battery or 12V power adapter. Instructions could use a little more detail as it is a little time consuming. I found myself hiding wires for GPS and rear cameras. There are several different wiring options based on where you want to mount the rear camera, and what features you want to use such as parking mode. The rear mirror does reach the back of my mid-size pickup truck. You will plug in power, GPS, and rear view camera at the base unit.
* Performance
The M2 Max Pro delivers exceptional performance in all areas. The user interface is very intuitive. Its 4K video resolution is incredibly sharp, capturing even the smallest details with clarity. The wide-angle lens provides a detailed view of the road, making it ideal for capturing surrounding traffic and potential accidents. The night vision capabilities are impressive, ensuring clear footage even in low-light conditions. The resolution is very good compared to previous dash cams I've installed. It's also nice that you can turn the camera off when you just want to use the basic rear view mirror.
The built-in GPS accurately records location data, which can be helpful for tracking your routes and providing additional context in case of an incident. The WiFi connectivity allows for easy viewing and downloading of footage directly to your smartphone. I found this to be a little inconsistent with the plug-in 12V power, it was much better when hardwired. The M2 Max Pro also offers advanced features like lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, and traffic sign recognition that I'll detail a little bit below. I found this to be a serious upgrade when I compared it to my factory camera system that came with my truck. The resolution of the touch screen looks good, the touch response is responsive with no delays, and the built in tones as you navigate the menu provide nice feedback. The user interface is exceptional, very well done!
* Advanced Features and Functionality
* **ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems):** The M2 Max Pro comes with features like lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, and warns you when cars are passing on both sides of your vehicle. These features can enhance your driving safety by providing real-time alerts and warnings.
* **Parking Mode:** The parking mode feature continues to record even when the vehicle is parked. This can be important for capturing evidence in case of a hit-and-run or any types of vandalism.
* **Loop Recording:** To ensure continuous recording, the M2 Max Pro likely uses loop recording. This means that when the memory card fills up, the oldest footage is automatically overwritten, allowing for uninterrupted recording.
* Software
There are 5 icons on the user menu:
Dash Cam provides a live look at your front camera. Smart Drive allows the advanced features such as ADAS, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Collision Warning. These can all be calibrated too. There's a file explorer, camera settings, and system settings menu. As I said before, these menus have great resolution, and touch response. You can also access the rear view camera from this menu. You can set your SD card to loop in one minute recordings, set your camera resolution, or setup parking mode to capture any events while you're away from your vehicle.
* Additional Considerations
* **Memory Card Compatibility:** Make sure you use a compatible microSD card with sufficient storage capacity to meet your recording needs.
* **Power Supply:** The M2 Max Pro comes with a hardwire kit for permanent installation. I would recommended this for better performance and to ensure continuous recording.
* ** Choose at least a 64GB card if you want to record 4K video, I personally felt like the 1080 resolution was great but if you need to review footage, 4K might provide more detail if you find yourself in a legal situation.
* Pros and Cons
**Pros:**
* Excellent 4K video quality
* Wide-angle lens for more coverage
* Impressive night vision capabilities
* Built-in GPS for location tracking
* WiFi connectivity for easy footage transfer
* ADAS features
* Durable and well-built
* View footage from the rearview mirror, the app, or transfer it to your computer or tablet
**Cons:**
* Installation process can be time-consuming
* Instruction Manual could provide more detailed instructions
* Wi-Fi connectivity can be a little shaky in certain situations
* Mirror does have a little bit of play
### Conclusion
The Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam is a solid dashcam that offers impressive performance and features. Its high-quality video, reliable build, and functionality make it a worthwhile investment for anyone seeking to install or upgrade.
If you're looking for a dashcam that can provide peace of mind and capture every detail of your drive, the M2 Max Pro 4K is an good choice. I would highly recommend it in older cars without camera systems too. There's a considerable amount of technology and features for the price. It might take a little time to install, but it's well worth it considering the features and value. The built in software and touch screen exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this Rearview Mirror Dash Cam system.

Not For Me

Rexing Dashcam
I thought this would be perfect for me. It’s everything I needed really. My current mirror is starting to peel so a replacement is necessary. I do not have a dashcam. I thought if I ever did get one, I would want one to have a parking mode.
However, I’m not 100% satisfied and here’s why. Let’s talk about the non-smart features first. It’s a rearview mirror after all. It is almost entirely useless as a mirror if you have 5% tint on your rearview mirror, like me. It is even more useless at night. I have zero confidence if I’m backing up using that mirror. There could be a person or an object and I will most likely not see it. Compared to my previous mirror I could see fine with the tint. I’m assuming because of the screen there is a slight tint to it. This rear window tint plus the tint on the Rexing mirror just makes for a nearly impossible view. I could use the provided rear camera as a mirror. I’ve tested it and it seems like it could be a decent replacement. However, compared to the mirror it does not get as wide when looking at it on the screen. I’ve also considered going to a tint shop and getting a lighter tint however I have other gripes with it.
It vibrates a decent amount. It vibrates more at higher speeds. It is very distracting to look at. On the highway today I was having a hard time seeing out the mirror because it is so dark and shaky. I find myself spending a couple extra seconds trying to have my eyes adjust to the darkness and the vibrations. Then my eyes have to adjust to the complete opposite exposure and no movement. It just does not feel safe to use at all.
I became even further disappointed during sunset. I put my sun visor down and it smacked the mirror. Then I had to re-adjust it. The mirror gets clipped just because it’s an extra 0.5 cm too big. I like that it’s big don’t get me wrong. Definitely removes all the blind spots but I definitely think they could make it a little less wide.
My final disappointment I had with the device was that I wanted to download the videos to my phone. I connected it to it’s onboard Wi-Fi and spent a while trying to figure out how to download the videos. Could not find anything in the manual. Eventually I tried it again later and found out you have to hold on the video you want to download. If you leave the app, the download fails. Also, the mirror is inoperable at this point. So, you cannot use your phone or drive while this is happening. I set the loop record time to 3 minutes long. I spent at least 5 minutes waiting to download one video and the progress bar looks like it got to 10%. I want to point out to view the footage it loads quickly but if someone needs the downloaded version it could very well take a while. It honestly might make sense to do the playback in the app and screen record it. In summary, in order to view the footage at its highest quality and to be able to send it to someone else, you absolutely need to take out the memory card and put it on a computer.
I’m at a point where I think I might just not use it. Might gift it to the wife maybe. Everything else was great. The installation was not bad. The instructions were clear. The parking mode works. The GPS works. You’re able to adjust the vertical position of the camera and the brightness on the screen so I very well could use the rear camera as a mirror replacement. I’m sure the smart features are great I just haven’t had the driving time to use them. I spent 5 minutes driving during the day and 5 minutes driving in the night, and I’m really considering taking this off because of how hard it is to see out of it.
I think for my use case, this dash cam does not make sense. They have other models and perhaps I should try those. I think those other models would fit my use case. Perhaps because of my current mirror it’s attached to, it shakes a lot. And maybe if I reduced or removed the tint all together, I would feel comfortable driving with it. My use case might be different than yours.

Hello!
Thank you for your taking the time to write a constructive review. We would like to mention due to the mirror having a display, the video feed may be darker than a normal rear view mirror. Due to this, we recommend turning off the display if you are having issues with visibility. The dashcam has a display power button at the bottom of the mirror that allows to turn off the display while keeping the cameras recording. This should mitigate a lot of the visibility problems. As for the rest of the problems, please try lowering or increasing the brightness. As for the remainder of issues, we strongly encourage you to discuss these further with one of our special agents, please contact us https://www.rexingusa.com/support/contact-us/

Feature-Rich & User-Friendly: Rexing M2 Max Pro

I have been using the Rexing M2 Max Pro (Best Buy Edition) for about a week now in various driving scenarios, and overall, I am extremely pleased with this dash and rear cam system with integrated GPS. The 4K resolution is stunning in both daylight and at night, providing crystal-clear footage that enhances driving safety. The graphical user interface is intuitive and efficient, making navigation through settings a breeze.
Installation of the forward camera is straightforward, and while setting up the rear camera and GPS requires a bit more work, the clear instructions make the process manageable. I had no issues formatting and using an inexpensive Class 10 256GB SD card from Samsung, which speaks to the device's compatibility and user-friendliness.
The ADAS, BSD, and RCW systems work well after auto-calibrating on the LA freeways I've driven in the last week. The reflectivity of the display, after it goes to sleep, is adequate for use as a standard rear-view mirror during the day and is equivalent to the dark mode of most rear-view mirrors at night.
There are a few areas where the device could improve. The reflectivity of the display decreases when it is not in sleep mode, which takes some getting used to. However, adjusting the focus of your eyes to the background slightly allows for effective use even on bright days. The audio warnings for the ADAS, BSD, and RCW systems can be hard to hear at highway speeds, and the accent in the voice prompts sometimes make them difficult to understand, but over time you will associate the sound to the context.
For future iterations, it would be great to see connectivity options to car audio systems via Bluetooth or direct aux-in for clearer warnings, and voice prompts recorded with a neutral accented native speaker. The rear-view camera backup assistant provides a clearer image than my stock backup camera, making it an excellent night-time backup aid, although dynamic guidelines would be a welcome addition.
Despite these minor caveats, this is a great buy for the price, and I am thoroughly satisfied with its performance. I look forward to future updates that may address these issues, making an already excellent device even better.
I purchased this online on 09/06/2024 from the Glendora CA Best Buy with order number BBY01-806964200768 but was logged in as a guest user at the time.

TLDR: The Rexing M2 Pro Max has ton of features and built-in safety features perfect for an older car, but not so much for a truck.
KEY FEATURES
Advanced Driver Safety Suite
4k Front Camera Video
1080p Rear Camera Video
Wide Angle Cameras with HDR Support
INTRODUCTION & SET-UP
The M2 mounts over your vehicle’s existing rear-view mirror. It takes just seconds to mount it via the 2 silicone straps and while they don’t appear very sturdy, don’t have any issues keeping the dash cam in place. Simple and effective.
Being a Best Buy exclusive, the M2 Pro Max includes 2 options for power: hard-wire and 12V plug. The 12V plug option is convenient and easy and what I’m sure most folks will use to power the M2. It is just too easy not to use. But, unlike Rexing’s competition, their 12V adapter does NOT include a USB pass-through for power. So, the included hard-wire connection kit is a welcome addition, as using the included 12V plug will completely tie-up a 12V outlet. Not a wise decision on Rexing’s part.
This Best Buy exclusive model also benefits from a full 18-month warranty, compared to other models and competitors’ 12 months warranties. The 18-month warranty is a welcome addition.
USE
Once installed and powered up the Rexing M2 is extremely easy to configure, adjust, and program. The Rexing GUI (Graphical User Interface) is simple and self-explanatory. All camera functions are baked into 5 different on-screen icons. There are no hidden menus and no extra pushes and swipes, everything is easy to find and operate. With an advertised resolution of 1920 x 380, I find the screen very detailed and legible in all lighting conditions, as well as responsive to user inputs with minimal lag.
The real attraction to this dash cam is Rexing’s Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS). It uses built-in logic to monitor items it “sees” in its cameras. This system can help warn a driver of impending forward collisions, rearward collisions, inadvertent lane departures, blind spot detection, and help to identify pedestrians and bicyclists around the vehicle.
The 2 cameras support up to 170 degrees field of view, sure to see nearly anything in front or behind the vehicle. Using the included on-screen icons, the driver can configure the detection zones to their liking. Using a series of on-screen boxes, the operator can tell the camera where the blind spots on their vehicle are and where the front and rear of the car is. The detection zones are overlayed on actual camera images on the mirror’s screen. Each detection box can be individually adjusted by moving one or all the 4 corners, with the front being just 2 simple lines to delineate the hood and the horizon. The camera takes care of the rest. Simple and intuitive.
The ADAS system works surprisingly well. I took a 4-hour road trip after installing the camera. Using the mirror primarily as a rear-view camera, the system goes about its business with no interference. However, should a car come up from behind, like on the interstate, the camera will show a yellow warning on the side of the detected vehicle warning the driver of a possible object in that blind spot, or if falling too closely, a potential for a rear end collision. It works well and it quick to respond to perceived “threats”.
Reviewing events on the dash cam can be accomplished in one of 3 ways. The least convenient is to pop out the SD card and look at the files on your PC. Second, you can use the mirror and its touch screen to scroll through the files and play them back on the mirror itself. Or you can access the mirror via the Rexing app and transfer the files to your phone via the mirror’s included wi-fi. I find myself just reviewing events on the camera more than any other, as the Rexing app is kind of flaky at times and not always rock solid. It’s just easier to scroll through and look for a specific time code than open the app, connect to the camera, etc. just to get to a file.
NEGATIVES
First. The Rexing app still has a couple of random bugs that could be squashed on my Android phone. They are random hiccups and lock-ups. Not horrible, but the app still needs a little more polish.
Second. Using the included driver assist features of the camera disables 4k video recording. The mirror doesn’t have enough processing power to cope with a 4k video stream and a 1080p rear stream while simultaneously looking for potential hazards. Using the ADAS features lowers resolution on the front camera to just 2.5k. Not a deal breaker by any means. 2.5k is still plenty sharp. Just a note.
Third. There is not enough wiring included for the rear-view camera and American trucks. There is enough to get the camera to the rear window on a crew cab truck, there isn’t enough to get the camera out to the back bumper. On a plus note, there is ample wiring with both the 12V plug and the hard-wire kit to reach any power source I needed on my full-size truck.
Forth. Because there isn’t enough wire to move the camera to the rear bumper, mounting the camera in the rear window of my full-size truck throws off the rearward ADAS alerts. My mirror constantly warns me of issues behind my truck when it is just the truck bed. The blind spots detection zones are horribly small, and you can’t fully exclude the truck bed, thereby increasing false positives. Along with that, the rear end collision alerts boxes must be so high to avoid the bed, that it makes the rear sensing collision feature nearly unusable.
Fifth / Last. Quality control. This Rexing M2’s front facing camera suffers from too much slop to be effective. Fine adjustments are impossible to achieve. When the front camera is dead center in its housing, there is a nice resistance to movement. However, move the camera slightly off center and there is nearly no resistance. The front camera either must be facing dead center or completely over to one side to keep it from moving and bouncing around. To compensate, I’ve had to place the mirror at a weird angle so that I can get the front facing camera all the way to its furthest position to keep it from moving and still pointing forward.
CONCLUSIONS
If I had a SUV or a car and was in the market for a dash cam, the Rexing M2 is tough to beat. It has a ton of features and if your car is a few years old and lacking some of the latest safety tech being offered today, the Rexing M2 is a great option. Front and rear cameras, plus a full suite of driver aids make for a very compelling product. To make it even more compelling, you get all these features fully unlocked and available immediately without the need of paying a subscription fee like one of Rexing’s primary competitors is now doing.
Truck owners still get a great dash cam, but the ADAS features are not quite as beneficial to them as small SUV and car owners.
I haven’t touched on all features of the camera, like GPS logging, audio recording, etc. there is just too many too much to list in a reasonable amount of space. I give this product a recommended rating and 4-stars, but just make sure you test the front camera prior to install to ensure it has adequate resistance throughout its range of motion. I’ve had other dash cams like the M2 and none have had as much slop in their front cameras as the M2.
RECOMMENDED.

I just bought the Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K Mirror Dash Cam, and so far, it’s been pretty exciting to set up. The packaging was nice, and the mirror itself feels really sturdy and high-quality. It looks super sleek—definitely an upgrade from my regular rearview mirror.
The 4K front camera seems really sharp. the video looks super clear, even in lower light. The mirror display is also really cool. It’s a touchscreen, and it’s been pretty easy to figure out. Switching between the front and rear camera views feels smooth, and it’s neat having that right on the mirror.
The GPS and Wi-Fi features were a big reason I picked this one. I haven’t used them much yet, but the idea of automatically logging speed and location is reassuring. Transferring videos to my phone without taking out the SD card is also a nice touch. The field of view on both cameras is wide enough to cover a lot, which already feels like a big plus.
Installing the front part was simple; I like making the wires neat and hidden, but the rear camera is taking me a bit longer to set up. Running the wires neatly through the car takes time.
Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase so far. It looks great and seems packed with features that are going to come in handy. I can’t wait to really see how it performs on the road, but for now, it feels like a solid choice. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a dash cam.

All cars need a backup camera and while most of the new ones come equipped with them they are always missing features or have horrible image quality. This is where the Rexing M2 max comes in. Rexing adds a 4k and 1080 camera system along with driver assistance to help drivers during their commute. The Rexing M2 max tries to be a all in one solution for older cars or cars that have horrible backup cameras and it does some things well but has a lot of room for improvement.
The good: The camera quality from the dash cam is better than most factory installed systems and the installation is pretty simple. Everything is mostly a plug and play solution and you don’t need to splice any cables to get the system to work. The dash cam mirror goes on very easily and stays firmly in place with the provided bands. Navigating the dash cam is simple and the touch screen is as fluid as today cell phones. The menus options are big and easy to read/understand. The added features of backup assistance and tracking of objects behind you works wonderfully. The camera sensors do a good job of letting you know when you’re getting to close to objects in front or behind your car.
The bad: The setup instructions are some of the worst I have ever seen, the included booklet has individual QR codes for every function. This is unnecessary and confusing , Rexing should have just made a simple install video which includes/breaks down all features and installation tips. Although the mirror is bright for use anywhere there is a big glare issue, every light on in the car reflects in the mirror. While the navigation menu for the M2 Max is simple and fluid it is lacking in certain aspects. One of the biggest missing features is that there is no adjusting of camera depth, you know the old saying “things may appear closer than they are” well the camera makes it seem as if you’re right on top of something even if you’re 2 feet away. The App Rexing has is very basic, using it is easy however it doesn’t add much to the product. I personally feel I was better off just pulling the SD card out to review the recorded video than using the app.
Rexing has done a lot of wonderful things such as having a simple plug and play system along with auto calibrating sensors. Being able to view both the front and rear of the car is excellent for getting out of tricky parking situations and the quality of the recordings is excellent. The driver assistance additions work well and help you know when something is in your blind spot as you drive. With all that being said there are many things that need to be corrected with the M2 Max and the great thing is that Rexing can do this with a simple software update.

I was really excited about this product because of the added safety features. Yes, it is a dash cam that will automatically record if it senses a collision, which is a great thing to have. But this one offers a lot more. Unfortunately, I was not particularly impressed with the additional offerings. I am also a bit concerned about the product’s ability to manage its storage, but I haven’t used it long enough to see an issue yet.
DASH CAM
This is an excellent dash cam, no questions about it. The ability to record in 4k is fantastic, and the cameras are very clear. Especially at night, the recording quality is very impressive. The rear camera was able to pick out details in the face of a driver behind me even with their headlights glaring right into the camera!
The device continuously records from both front and rear cameras simultaneously, with the option to “lock” recordings manually or automatically (if it senses a collision). A great sense of security in case something happens outside the vehicle. Oh, and it records sound inside the vehicle as well.
INSTALLATION
To get this working properly, there’s a lot of wires involved. I was able to do it myself, but professional installation is a good idea here. There’s an external GPS sensor, which is good to make sure you can place it where it gets a good signal, but this does mean an additional cable coming out of the unit and needing routing across your dash.
The rear camera can be mounted in multiple locations, either inside the cabin (view through rear window) or outside. Instructions suggest routing wires through the cutout for license plate lighting, which seems to work well.
With hardwire installation, the device senses when the engine is running and when it is not, and it can automatically switch into parking mode when the engine is off. This means it will turn off the display to use less battery and changes the metrics for what kind of motion will trigger saving a recording. Very nice. It will also sense when you shift into reverse gear (when your backup lights turn on) and show you the rear view camera to assist you.
MOUNTS ON REARVIEW MIRROR
This product mounts to the dash by clipping over your rearview mirror. This puts its beautiful touchscreen display in a very convenient location, but since it makes your existing mirror useless, it had better work really well. PROS: The screen can display video from the rear camera while you’re driving, which is really nice because it displays a wider view than you’d ever be able to see with an optical mirror. Much smaller blind spots. The screen doubles as a (sort of) mirror since it has a reflective surface, so you can still see things behind you even if it’s off. CONS: Unfortunately, the screen is very hard to see in bright sunlight. It’s almost completely washed out by reflections. Even when the screen is on, I found myself looking at the reflected image rather than the digital image during the day. Additionally, the device adds a lot of weight to the mirror, which in my experience gives it a tendency to vibrate more, making the reflected image hard to see sometimes, and the whole thing can jostle out of alignment over time or if I hit a bump.
SAFETY FEATURES
The thing that drew me to this specific model is the safety features involving driver assistance, collision warnings, and blind spot detection. Unfortunately, I was underimpressed. I ended up turning all of them off because they were more distracting than helpful, and because using them requires disabling 4k recording. Apparently the processor can’t handle 4k recording and driver assistance at the same time, so the recordings downgrade to 1080p if you turn on any of these. Additionally, it can only handle assistance with the front camera, or assistance with the back camera, but not both at the same time.
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
Turning this on has some AI monitor the front camera and a voice warning if it loses track of the lane markings or if there’s something in front of you. I had a hard time hearing/understanding the voice, so I wasn’t sure what was going on most of the time. In city traffic it would tell me to prepare for a collision any time I started braking because there was a car in front of me. In highway traffic, it would alert me any time I changed lanes. I can see the latter being useful if I accidentally drifted out of my lane, but it’s hard to say if it would actually improve my driving.
RCW (Rear collision warning)
As you’d expect, this makes a beeping noise if there’s a vehicle within a few feet of the rear of your vehicle. OK, but I’m not sure what I could do about it to avoid a collision if the car didn’t slow down or stop in time. Unless I’m driving a Tesla, I don’t think I could accelerate out of the way fast enough, even if theoretically there wasn’t traffic in front of me as well.
BSD (Blind-Spot Detection)
This option beeps at me whenever there’s a large vehicle about to enter my blind spot. Since it uses the rear camera to detect this, it can’t actually see into my blind spots (although the rear camera has a much better view than my rearview mirror). Additionally, it seems to work best with large vehicles, like semi trucks, which hardly fit into my blind spot anyway. I don’t know if it would be of any help if a motorcycle or bicyclist were likely to enter my blind spot.
APP CONTROL
This product comes with an app, for some reason. The app lets you control all the controls on the device itself, which could be helpful for setup and reviewing videos; but since the device itself has a beautiful touchscreen display, the app is certainly not necessary. Additionally, the app makes it annoying to connect because you first have to reconfigure your WiFi settings every time you use it. (After linking to the device the first time, this should be automatic.) While the app lets you view videos, there’s apparently no way to download them to your phone (?!) which seems to be a missed opportunity. The only way to download videos is to remove the storage card and physically connect it to your computer. Note that this device does not come with a storage card, and you may also need a card reader to connect it to your computer.
STORAGE
You need to buy a separate SD card to use any of the recording features of this product. The user guide warns that the storage card may need to be reformatted once a month. (!!!) This is a big red flag to me. Can the device not manage the storage in a way that doesn’t cause it to become corrupted as a routine matter of normal use? They say they’re not sure. I’ve only had the product for about a week, and it hasn’t corrupted its storage yet, but the fact that they warn that it might is extremely concerning.
CONCLUSION
This is an excellent dash cam recorder. The safety features are underwhelming. I think that if all I wanted was recording, I’d prefer a model that was less obtrusive, didn’t cover up my rearview mirror. While the rearview camera provides a much better viewing angle than my rearview mirror, that benefit comes with tradeoffs over just using a mirror.

My wife was just complaining that our Ford Focus sedan is hard to see out of when backing out of a parking space. It was built before back up cameras were common so it doesn’t have that feature. I saw this product and thought it might fill the bill. When it arrived, I was surprised at how large the mirror actually is. It’s several inches wider than our factory mirror which is a bit of a double edged sword. It’s nice that it’s a large, high quality screen but it blocks some of your view of the road too. The other problem we ran into is that it’s got some weight to it. Our mirror is going on twelve years old and isn’t the tightest so with the extra weight we had some vibration. I fixed that with some shims cut from a cereal box and slipped in where the day/night switch sits. That tightened it up enough that the screen doesn’t shake. The rubber straps provided keep the screen snug to the mirror head, no complaints there but the weight of the screen causes the mirror to slowly droop as you drive. Every couple of days we have to tilt the mirror back up. The wiring part of the install was easy. The BestBuy Edition mirror includes the Rexing Smart Hardwire Kit, which allows you to tap into your fuse box for power without splicing. You just need to locate one fuse in the box that has power all the time, one that has power with the ignition on, and you need to tap into your reverse light power wire near the camera in the back of the car. The kit also came with a GPS antenna, the camera and wiring, and a plug you can use to power the unit off a power point socket instead of the Smart Hardwire Kit.
The image quality on the screen is very nice, but if you’re planning on using this in place of a rear view mirror (like, say if you have really dark tint in your rear window and can’t see out otherwise) then you should know that the headlights of vehicles close behind you at night will blind the camera and you get a substantial white glare on the camera feed. If you don’t have dark tint, since the screen is a mirror too, the headlights will reflect in the mirror as well as the glare in the video feed. I didn’t care for that. The screen as delivered has two clear protectors on it. One definitely is made to be removed, it has a pull tab on it. The second protector may actually be a fingerprint resist. If you don’t peel that one off then the screen is hazy, if you do peel it off then the screen shows every fingerprint and that might be contributing to the reflections I mentioned. So peel at your own risk!
I like the way the video files are organized and accessed. It’s completely intuitive and easy to find what you’re looking for. I also like that you can view the video clips right on the device. This is my third dash cam and neither of my other ones are capable of this. It’s SO easy! The front and rear cameras record all the time and you can view the live feed in split screen mode on the mirror. The camera settings allow you to flip, mirror, or flip+mirror the rear camera feed so no matter which way you mount the camera you can fix the image so it’s right side up and oriented correctly.
You can select to have the video display on the mirror either never go to sleep, or sleep after one or two minutes. We have ours set to one minute and just use it as a regular mirror until you shift to reverse again.
One other complaint I have is the size of the image on the screen. The image is actually larger in height than you can view all at once, which allows you to swipe the screen up or down to “look” higher or lower as if you’re tilting the camera. The displayed image is really wide but it’s so short I can either adjust the “look” or the physical camera down to where I can see the pavement right behind the bumper OR I can adjust the “look” or the physical camera up so I can see behind the car a fair distance to see if it’s clear to back out of a space but I haven’t found a spot where I can can see both the ground behind the car and have that field of view higher behind the car at the same time. Hoping they might address that with a software update at some point. I would probably trade off some width of the field of view to gain the height if I could. I have a truck with a factory back up camera and it is able to display a view like that and I find that more useful.
You can actually adjust the “look” on the front camera, the rear camera and the park mode camera each independently and it remembers those settings which is pretty neat.
Connecting my mobile device to the mirror thru the app was easy, downloading clips was intuitive but it did take a couple minutes to download each clip especially clips from the 4k front camera.

Rexing Dash Cam is a worthwhile investment

This Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam is an incredibly worthwhile addition to a vehicle. In addition to a dash cam, it includes safety features found on newer vehicles including blind spot detection and a rear camera that enables rear collision warning and can become your back-up camera. Installation can be somewhat complicated as it involves wiring and running wires through your vehicle, from the rear tail lights to the front fuse box and under the edge of the headliner and trunk liner. I fully admit I am not adept at something like this, so for now I have it plugged into my "cigarette lighter" with the included adapter and it is working perfectly. I figured if I liked this enough, I would have Geek Squad professionally install it for me. I have not set up the rear camera or the GPS module, but I am making that installation appointment now, and they will do it all for me.
As for setup, that is the easy part. Plug whichever wiring type you chose to use into the USB-C port on the top of the mirror and it automatically starts recording. There are numerous settings on the touch mirror itself. The standard like date/time, language, etc and other settings for things like turning on its wifi so that you can use the Rexing Connect app to see and download your videos and photos. You can also see the videos directly from the dash cam mirror. You set the safety features on or off - you can have the front or the back set to on - you can't have both
at the same time.
To explain how this works, it actually attaches to the front of your current rear view mirror with 2 rubberized bands and becomes your new rear view mirror. Mine has not fallen off or even wobbled - it seems pretty sturdy. It is a 12" touch screen that controls 2 cameras - a dash cam that records up to 4K - the quality of the image recorded in 4K is quite remarkable, it is extremely clear and bright. The rear camera records at 1080p. It has simple touch controls that are fairly intuitive to use. The dash cam will record from the camera on your new rear view mirror constantly, when it is powered on, in a loop of 1, 2 or 3 minutes - it is your choice. Recording is done to a micro SD card (not included), and the quality is really good. The loop recording will eventually fill up your micro SD card and then it will begin to over-write from the oldest recordings. If there’s something you want to keep, you can lock it so that it won’t be recorded over. I drive with the front camera streaming turned off (but it is still recording) and it becomes my rear view mirror. It does have a somewhat dark tint to it, like having a tint on your rear window. If you choose to hook up the rear camera, you can stream that to your mirror. When I have that set-up, that is what I will do to get an even better look at what is going on behind me. You know those times when you drive with a car full of balloons or you're taking a load of furniture somewhere and you can't see out your back window? This will alleviate that issue because the camera will be at the rear of your vehicle, without obstruction.
There are a lot of additional features included. There is some sort of night vision that increases the clarity and brightness of night time recording. There is a wide 170 degree field of view that can pick-up a lot that goes on in front of your vehicle. There is a G-sensor (you can set the sensitivity to high, med or low) and if there is some sort of impact, when you're away from your vehicle, it will record a 15 second video and lock it (so it won't be over-written).
Overall, the Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam is amazing. With all of its features and the quality, it is a definite "recommend" for anyone in the market for a dash cam or anyone looking to add safety features including a back-up camera to their older vehicle.

Versatile dash cam

First- This is NOT a rearview mirror! This is a dash cam that goes over the rearview mirror. When looking at the rear view, you do see behind your car but you do NOT see in the back seat. If you have children or an infant and need to see them, this will not work for your needs. I have an older grandchild and was talking to him while he was in the back seat- I looked at the mirror out of habit and was surprised that I couldn't see him!
Next- Set up was easy for the basic camera. The front facing camera is on the part that covers your mirror. The rear camera can be mounted inside (as I have it) or above your license plate. Inside was easier with my SUV. They provide a tool that lets you push the wire inside the window frames so it is out of the way. I am sure I could have it professionally installed and it would be even more out of the way. I did not hard wire the extra red wire for the rear camera which would be sure that rear camera would automatically display when I put the car in reverse. I prefer the display to always be the rear camera mode since it is in the place of my rear view mirror. I want to be able to see the back. I have a whole windshield to see out the front. I don't also need the display to be the front camera. It does have a split screen view that permits both front and rear viewing simultaneously.
I also did not self- install the parking surveillance mode. I park in my driveway or garage and don't have to worry about being hit while parked. This also requires some hard wiring that I felt was beyond my abilities. If you have this wired, it would detect a sudden movement and would trigger a recording to hopefully catch the license plate of the person who hit you!
My car is an older model and does not have the fancy safety features like blind spot warning and lane departure. I like that I can set that on this camera. I can know if there is a car in my blind spot before changing lanes on the highway. It makes audible tones - different sounds for left and right. I am still learning which side sounds like what. You need to select whether you want to have the Advanced Driver Assistance Program (ADAS) which monitors forward collision warning and lane departure warnings, or the Blind Spot Detector. You cannot have both. Both certainly keep you safer than not having anything at all!
I have had several dash cams and I think this by far, is my favorite. I like the added lane departure and blind spot detection. I do miss having a rear view mirror at times-when I have a rear passenger or need to check my teeth for food! At least I have a mirror on my visor!

First and foremost if you don't know how to do wiring or mess around with a car don't try to do this by yourself unless you feel confident in what you are doing and willing to spend hours and hours figuring out what to do. If you don't or can't do car work on your own got to Geek Squad or another local car stereo place to install this for you.
I have been in the market to buy a similar model for some time now so I am thrilled that I have it now.
Plus you might lose out on being able to use all the features available if you don't install it correctly.
Also note, to store more video footage I would recommend a high quality micro SD card so you can pull video over a longer period of time.
With that in mind setup for me took about 2 hours total. I ended up hard wiring using t-taps to an existing tap I made and all. I also properly tucked the wire and most of all I made sure I picked a good wire run to maximize/minimize being short of the connections I needed to accomplish the installation. Software on Android took all but a few minutes. Something else to keep in mind if you have a newer rear view mirror like the one that automatically dims or has garage or gate openers the Rex mirror does not completely sit dead center. It wants to sit a bit off center and it looks bigger than if it were on an old regular not smart rear view mirror.
Features are really nice. Rear camera and front camera image quality is great.
So the biggest thing I had to get used to was not being able to look in the rear view mirror to be able to look inside of the cabin of the car.
For those cars that do not have a backup camera this is a god send. It helps with parallel parking and backing up to make sure you don't wack anything.
GPS use for speed and date and time etc is nice.
Super nice product and would definitely recommend it for cars that don't have backup cameras or if you want combination dash cams and backup camera and GPS functionality this is the product for you.
Nice job Rexing.

Keep The Interior Decluttered With This Dash Cam

– OVERVIEW –
The Rexing M2 Max Pro 4K WiFi GPS Mirror Dash Cam is a clever way of incorporating a dash cam system to your car without having the look of an additional peripheral on your windshield or your dashboard. The M2 is a 12” IPS display shaped like a rear view mirror and attaches to your actual rear view mirror. With this screen, it will provide a live feed of both front (built into the main unit) and included rear view camera. Lastly, the kit also includes a GPS antenna to provide location and speed statistics. Recording is dual channel; you’ll get separate recording files for front and rear cameras. These files can be browsed through using the touchscreen display or using the Rexing app via WiFi.
– LOOK/FEEL –
Right off the bat, it’s worth mentioning that the M2 actually acts as a rear view mirror when the LCD is turned off. So in the worst case scenario, the unit goes out or becomes inoperable, you’ll still have a mirror to use. This is very important because you don’t want to lose rear vision while driving and try to finagle the M2 off your actual rear view mirror. Anyway, the M2 is a lot larger than most rear view mirrors, but it didn’t bother me as I think it still looks very factory vs having another peripheral hanging around. Around the back, you’ll find the front camera off to the left end of the unit so that there is room to mount on your mirror. At the top, there are 3 ports (USB-C for power, port for rear view, port for gps camera) and a microSD slot; on the bottom there is a simple on/off button. The body is primarily made of plastic.
– SETUP –
Setup contains two parts: the actual installation of the camera and then the setup parameters of the camera.
Installation will vary from car to car; I installed it in a ‘24 Honda Civic sedan. The M2 mounted just fine and the GPS antenna has double-sided tape that allowed me to mount it on the inside of the front windshield. The rear camera I mounted on the rear windshield at its highest point. I opted to use the hardwired harness kit so that I can take advantage of its sentry mode. If you’re skilled at DIY stuff for your car, it’s an easy install. Otherwise, you may find it best to find a local installer who can do this for you and make things nice and neat.
Camera setup was also very simple. Using the touchscreen, there is a main menu that allows you to choose loop cycle times (ie, you only want to record 1, 2 or 3 min segments), video quality and shock sensitivity. Yes, in the event that you encounter an accident, the current video being recorded will be locked and protected. That means everything else being recorded will be eventually overwritten based on the amount of space you have on your microSD card (not included).
As I mentioned above, I opted for the hardwire kit so I can take advantage of the camera’s sentry system, or what they call the Parking Mode and Collision Detection. Basically, if the car feels any type of movement (say from a car bumping into your parked car), the camera will turn on and start recording for 30 seconds, then turn off to preserve the car battery. The recordings are locked and saved into a dedicated folder.
Finally, there is Rexing’s Advanced Driver Assist System, blindspot detection and rear collision warning. In most modern cars today, you will have these things standard. But for those with other generation vehicles, these features can come in handy. Although…I do feel like it does need some work.
– PERFORMANCE –
Not a surprise, the Rexing M2 does provide dual channel recording all while acting as a rear view mirror via camera with a live feed of what’s happening on your rear. The cameras can be toggled to show the rear, front or front and rear. Now I didn’t really understand what or why we need a front view or dual view other than just seeing what the recordings will look like.
Since the cameras themselves offer a wide field of view, you won’t be able to see all of that camera on the touchscreen, but you’ll be able to pan up and down to adjust your view. Think of it like adjusting your rear view mirror, manually. The other thing you’ll be able to do is change the brightness. Now during the day, I do have it at 100%, but when the night falls, I have to dial it down because it is pretty bright! I wish the unit had a sensor to auto dim the brightness, much like our smartphones.
Access to recordings is easy, and the reality is that you should only play with it enough just to get familiar with how to access them. Because once you’re up and running, you’re not really thinking about your files day in and day out unless you encounter something on the road. If you do see something interesting and want to lock the recording, there’s a quick button on the bottom that allows you to lock your recording. Similarly, you can take a quick picture with another button situated at the bottom of the screen. I guess you would think of them as the home screen buttons.
Recordings at 4K are very impressive, but are only featured in the front facing camera; the rear facing camera will record in 1080p. These settings can change depending on if you decide to use Rexing’s ADAS, RCW or Blind Spot detection features. It kicks down the resolution to 2K.
If you’re not touching the screen at all, then all home screen buttons go away and the only thing that can show up (if you so choose to do so) is the today’s date and time, and your current mph.
– GOTCHAS —
As I mentioned earlier, the M2 doubles as a standard rear view mirror when the screen is turned off. So the main problem with that is while the screen is on, you will still see a reflection of what would typically be your rear view blended into current live feed. So think of how annoying a TV with high reflection could be…that’s the Rexing M2 Max. So what I have to do to mitigate that is point the mirror up as much as possible to get a reflection of the roof rather than my actual rear glass. This seems to work well at the moment, but how cool would it be to have it on the ready, pointed at my rear glass so I can easily toggle the screen on and off without having to adjust the mirror position.
Second gotcha (at least for me in my Civic) is that when the rear camera is mounted INSIDE my car, the camera itself is also picking up a reflection of my car’s interior, and that being the rear speakers. So what I really get to see all the time while I use the M2 is the view of what’s happening behind me, and my rear speaker grilles. It’s a little annoying to be honest, and it’s really no fault of Rexing, but just keep in mind that this could happen if you don’t mount it outside your car. A lot of our cars come equipped with rear view cameras standard, and adding another one might seem a bit excessive.
– CONCLUSION –
Overall, I am happy with the Rexing M2 Max, and I plan to have it going for as long as I own my car. With the way things are going nowadays on the road, it’s always a good idea to cover your you know what in the event that you get into a fender bender or the like. And if you’re like me, you probably want to keep things looking simple in your car’s interior, this is not a bad way to do it.
