The camera works great, tools were included that help you pop panels off your interior so you can hide the cable. You can modify an assortment of settings on the device to your liking including video quality. Getting video off is also easy, you can take camera inside and plug it into computer with the USB cable provided or you can just remove the SD card and put that into your computer.
The adhesive failed within 4 hours of being in the hot sun in Michigan. I managed to get it off my windshield while it was still hot and I replaced it with heavy duty gorilla tape which has had no problems. Only complaint on the product, the rest was fantastic.

Bottom Line: The Rexing V1 is a budget friendly dash cam that offers excellent recording quality and a robust set of features.
Pros: Easy to install, lightweight, great video and audio recording quality, useful on-device playback screen, available GPS-logger add-on
Cons: Button placement could be better; taking still photos is difficult; requires the separate purchase of a class 10 micro-SD card
Review: Installation of the V1 is straightforward and fairly easy. The instructions recommend locating the unit right behind the rearview mirror and routing the power cable up into the front lip of the upholstery, down the side trim/weather seal, under the glove box, and into the car power port. This was actually a lot simpler than I thought it would be, especially since the V1 comes with an upholstery tool and cable clips that can be attached to the underside of the glovebox/console. The whole process took about 15 minutes.
The V1 requires that it is connected to a power source (it has a battery but it’s only used for saving files after the unit is disconnected from power), In addition to powering the V1, the car adapter has a USB passthrough built into the socket-end, which is really useful if you want to change the settings or review videos while in the car (a USB to micro-USB cable is also included).
Design-wise, the V1 is a sleek looking device that you’ll hardly notice if you install it behind your mirror. Despite it’s sleek appearance, the unit houses a 2” screen for video playback, and a series of buttons on the left side and its face. The only minor issue I have with the design is that the unit would be easier to use if some of the buttons on the side and front were flipped. For instance, the microphone mute button is on the face, which is then underneath the unit by the windshield when the camera is installed. It would have been more convenient to locate that button the side instead of, say, the settings button.
The V1 automatically turns on/off when your car charging port powers on/off, so there’s not a lot of work involved once you have it installed. Video recording at 1080p looks great, especially in bright sun, and it does a fantastic job of recording audio inside the car (dialogue between my wife and me was crystal clear). I did notice that video quality decreased a bit, particularly driving at higher speeds (55mph) in shadier areas (country back roads with lots of trees). I don’t do a lot of night driving, so I haven’t recorded videos in the dark yet. Still pictures also look really good, and you have the ability to do a digital zoom. There’s a bit of distortion on the sides from the wide angle lens, but it’s not nearly as noticeable as I expected given other wide angle lens products I’ve used.
My only real issue is that taking a still picture is pretty difficult. When you turn your car on, the V1 powers on and starts recording. To take a still photo and return to video recording, you need six button presses, which are all on the front of the unit (therefore, bottom near the windshield when installed). First, you have to hit “REC” to stop video recording. Then, you need to hit the ‘camera’ button to switch from video mode to photo mode. Next, you have to hit “OK” to take the still photo. To start recording, you need to press ‘camera’ twice (the first press switches to playback mode, the second back to video recording) and then “REC” to resume recording. It would have been really great if you could take a still shot while recording by hitting a button on the side of the unit.

The Rexing DashCam was very easy to install and even easier to download the video clips. The picture quality is excellent and it really couldn't be easier to use. It is set to automatically come on every time I turn the car on. There is nothing I need to fidget with to turn it on or off. It's a set it and forget it! Until you need it...
The camera is small enough to fit behind my mirror - I literally don't even notice it is there. The videos are wide angle and excellent resolution. There is no shaking and it picks up everything I would want it too. Sometimes a little too much...I have learned that I talk to myself in the car! LOL Great product and would highly recommend!

You can never be too careful these days when you are on the road. People sort of have their own agendas and many times they don’t even pay attention to the world around them. With those drivers in mind, it becomes more and more important to protect yourself with devices like dash cameras. I’ve had the fortunate experience of being able to test out several different types of cameras and most recently, I’ve tried the Rexing DashCam V1.
The Rexing DashCam V1 arrives in a colorful, but somewhat generic package. It’s well-labeled with the ‘Rexing’ brand name stamped on it. Some very basic details are listed on the outside wrap of the box and it comes with a 12ft car charger, 3M adhesive mount, USB cable, and a user manual. When you open the box, you will find the camera assembly wrapped with some protective foam and then all the remaining accessories beneath a layer of cardboard.
I have to admit that I was a bit perplexed by the DashCam V1 because of its shape. It’s unlike anything I’ve used before and it’s mounting method is out of the ordinary. It is meant to be mounted to your windshield with adhesive instead of a suction cup. The set-up of it pretty easy despite it being different than others I’ve used. Once you have selected the location for the DashCam, you can place it using the mount and provided adhesive strips. It sticks easily and well on glass and even though I haven’t had it very long, I believe it will last for a while there because the camera is very lightweight.
When you plug it into your car’s power outlet, the camera automatically powers on. If you don’t have an SD Card inserted, you will get a warning on the screen letting you know that you need one. There are knobs on the sides of the camera that allow you to move it up and down to cover different angles. The knobs are a little stiff to move, but they do work.
The camera uses Mini USB, which is a little outdated in my opinion. I feel like it should at least be Micro USB if not something else. I do like that it’s an extra long 12-foot cable because it makes it easy to mount/route the cable and camera. The camera does have a rechargeable battery built-in, but it’s primarily used to save files in the event of an emergency. The buttons are also very tactile and there is a definite ‘click’ when you press them. The hardware part of the camera seems to be quite stout and I personally think it will last daily use quite well.
Even though this camera has an easy set up and unique design, there are a few things I am not a big fan of like the angle of the screen. The video quality is pretty good. It’s clear and records easily. This unique little camera gets the job done easily and efficiently.

Rexing V1 Dash Cam - Video Security & Insurance

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
For the past several years I have used my dash-mounted GPS, which is equipped with a video dash cam, for road trips, long drives, and on vacations. However, my GPS is not practical to use just for the built-in dash cam feature alone. The majority of my routine driving is around town, to and from job sites, shopping, and for 'everyday' family trips and chores. So, I never really utilized my GPS' built-in dash cam. And, I never thought of the dash cam as a necessary piece of equipment either. Wow, was I mistaken!
After receiving a complimentary Rexing V1 DashCam unit in exchange for an honest and comprehensive review I was anxious to compare it to my GPS. I wanted to experience its value for all of my driving scenarios; for every time I got behind the wheel. On my third day of using the Rexing V1, I was totally convinced that it is now a necessary piece of equipment for me every time I drive my car. And, I also discovered the Rexing V1 features, compared to my more expensive GPS with dash cam, were far more superior and practical for everyday use.
While picking up my Grand Kids from their bus stop to visit Grandpa's place, the Rexing V1 recorded a red-light-runner at an intersection I was stopped at, and, a truck making an illegal U-turn almost colliding with a car, which was turning right onto the highway. It was then a I realized how valuable this Rexing V1 DashCam is in providing me with video security and insurance. I thought to myself, “Some day soon the major auto manufacturers will build-in dash cams in all cars that do the same work as the Rexing V1 DashCam.” After the second day of using the Rexing V1 I inserted the 128 GB, High Endurance, Class 10, Micro SDXC card into the card reader of my desktop computer. I played back the last two days of video the Rexing unit recorded. The playback was impressive, full HD, 1080p in realistic color and enabled audio too. You can speed up the playback 2x, 4x, or 8x to view what you are looking for. This feature also works in 'reverse'. Additionally, you can 'Lock' videos automatically by pressing the 'OK' button while recording. This prevents the Loop Video Recording from being overwritten when the memory card is full.
What's In The Box:
* Rexing V1 DashCam – 2.4 Inch LCD Screen with Auto-Rotation. Take note that the Feature Icons on the Borders of the LCD Screen are fixed and do not Auto-Rotate with the Screen's Orientation. Auto-Rotation gives you more options in mounting your Rexing DashCam.
* Car Charger – With 12 Feet of Cord, long enough, to 'Tuck-In' and conceal around your Windshield and Dash to eventually reach your 12 V Power Outlet Source.
* User Manual – Detailed Operational Set-Up and Use including helpful Pictorial Illustrations.
* 3M Adhesive Mount – For Direct Windshield Mounting only. Once mounted you cannot re-position or move your Rexing V1 DashCam.
* USB Cable – For Powering Unit or Video Playback directly connected to your computer.
* Cable Concealment Tool – Orange Tool to facilitate the concealment of the Power Cable. This tool has a small and large end to aid you in concealing your Power Cable around your windshield and dashboard.
* Six Adhesive Cable Fasteners – These Adhesive Cable Fasteners can be used in areas where you cannot effectively conceal your Power Cable, but need it fastened in place.
* Thank You Card – By Registering your Rexing V1, you can extend your warranty from 12 months to 18 at their listed website.
Significant Features:
* Automatic 'ON' and 'OFF' – If your 12 V Power Outlet Source turns 'ON' and 'OFF' when your car is started and, or, turned 'OFF', then your Rexing V1 DashCam will switch 'ON' and 'OFF' automatically and start recording. Woohoo! How Cool is that?
* Video Settings – You can select from 1080p, 720p, and 480p resolutions. You can use up to a maximum of 128GB SD card size. Rexing recommends a High Endurance Micro SD card, Class 10, which will provide several years of constant, reliable use of recording and overwriting. I bought my 128 GB, High Endurance Micro SD, Class 10 card from Best Buy because I am now a 'Believer' that this DashCam is my Necessary, Video Insurance. It gives me approximately 21 hours of recording at 1080p resolution, several weeks of driving.
* Loop Recording - The 'Default' setting is 3 minutes. I set mine to 10 minutes Loop Recording. Your SD Card will 'Overwrite' when the maximum storage limit is achieved, except for 'Locked Videos' that you enabled and saved.
* Default Settings – There are approximately 30 'Default Settings' that you can change if so desired. Since they are listed on this Best Buy website, I am not going to go into detail on each and every one here. But, keep in mind the 'Default Settings' are already optimized for your use. I changed the Loop Recording to 10 minutes; Plate Number; Date and Time to current; Screen Saver to 3 minutes; Anti-Shaking to 'ON'; and Daylight Savings to 'ON'.
* Gravity Sensing – If a change in 'G' Forces is identified, like a vehicular accident, the g-sensor will send a signal to the camera to 'Lock' the video file, saving vital video footage.
* Simplistic Controls – Super-Easy learning curve to get familiar with all of the controls and features. You gotta' use it to learn it. Rexing engineers designed this DashCam for folks just like me, serious about my own personal and family's safety.
Downside:
On the fourth day I went out to use my car for a trip to my local bank, I found the 3M
Adhesive Mount barely hanging off the windshield while the Rexing V1 mount had fallen to the floorboard of my car. I live in Florida, and, it has been in the upper 90's the past week and that I have used this DashCam. The 3M adhesive fell victim to the relentless heat of the Florida sun. I had doubts about this windshield adhesive mount, based on my past experiences, but went ahead and installed it according to the Rexing recommendations. The Rexing DashCam is very lightweight. But, the mount alone sitting all day in the hot Florida sun, didn't hold up. So, being convinced that the Rexing DashCam was now necessary equipment for me, I went 'on-line' to find other kinds of mounting installations. Rexing features a Suction-Cup, removable mount on their website. I went ahead and ordered one. I already had a similar mount from one of my older GPS units, so I improvised, and, attached the Rexing V1 to my older GPS, Suction-Cup-Mount. It has worked temporarily, for the last 7 days. If you live in a 'hot' climate like a do, I recommend using the Rexing Suction-Cup-Mount over the 3M Adhesive, Windshield Mount. It is very important to have a reliable installation you can count on everyday and under adverse conditions to record the hazards you may encounter. My recordings taken at night were somewhat sketchy in 'Playback' on my desktop computer. However, after adjusting my computer 'Playback' for low light conditions, it was much better.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend the Rexing V1 DashCam for your own Security and Insurance. I love it and will not drive without it. The Rexing V1 does an outstanding job of recording road-related, hazardous scenarios. I am appreciative of the 'Peace-Of-Mind' and insurance this affordable, amazing DashCam offers me. It also makes me a better driver, knowing that it is recording all of my driving habits and maneuvers on the road. YooHoo!
The Rexing V1 DashCam is inexpensive and a 'must-have' for its multitude of features, simple operation, and value. This DashCam provides video proof of any possible accident scenarios and details I may encounter. It makes a great gift for any family member or special friend. I am giving this Rexing V1 DashCam five stars in spite of the adhesive problem I dealt with. Buy one, you won't be disappointed.

It does seem like these days no one would believe you unless you can show a video. That's why having a dash camera is becoming a necessity.
Rexing dash camera comes with an easy adhesive pad mounting system which is super easy to use - just wipe inside of a windshield with a rubbing alcohol, attach camera to the mounting pad, place adhesive pad on the mount and then just stick camera where you want it! I prefer to mount mine a bit behind a rearview mirror so it's not distracting me while driving.
Please make sure to mount the camera so the lens is behind an area that is reached by a windshield wiper!
Routing a power wire might be a little challenging, but Rexing does include a plastic prying tool with a camera that might help you with the job, it took me about 45 minutes to route the power wire to the central console of a car where I have an AUX 12V plug. Note that camera adapter does have a little USB charging port directly on a plug so that 12V outlet that you plug your camera into is still available for USB charging.
Camera does make a little sound when it powers on or off and that helps to assure you that camera did power up and is actually recording.
Speaking of recording - make sure that you purchase a High Endurance SD card (maximum I've seen was 64Gb for the High Endurance kind) since you really want that video to be there when you need it. You don't want your SD card just to die at the moment you need it the most.
Camera has a pretty decent video sensor and does record in 1080p 60Hz, however since it's a wide angle camera - image is not that crystal clear that you might want it to be. If you are looking for a crisp recording - you may need to upgrade to a 4K camera instead. Look at the pictures attached.
Low light vision is pretty decent, details of objects around your car are visible just fine.
Camera does record sound as well (it's an option available in settings) and has a port for optional GPS module. There are setting for video quality (maximum quality is the default), but you pretty much good without adjusting anything at all, just plug the power in. Camera does have an internal battery that could power it for up to 15 minutes, but it's designed mostly for emergencies (to record the last moments when car power may go out).
Overall - it's a solid choice that will last for a long time, cheap protection in case of an accident and worth spending the money. Video quality - I expected it to do a little bit better, therefore - solid 4 star rating.

bought 3 of these after my daughter was involved in an accident after work and other party lied to avoid ticket. first the pros. camera is affordably priced for those not looking to spend a fortune to protect themselves from dishonest people. the camera is easy to install, took about an 1 1/2 hr for all three vehicles including hiding all wires. initial setup is pretty straight forward as far as settings. picture quality is good, its not the best video possible but not horrible either, good quality as far as making out vehicles in front of you and passing. does what it supposed too. now the cons. the periphial vision of the camera is non existant but in no way a deal breaker just the limitation of the camera. the adhesive mount is less than subpar, it comes with an adhesive mount but all three mounts failed within 24 hrs and all 3 were dangling in the morning. the adhesive actually separated in half, half on window and the other half on the camera mount. after reading the reviews of other people I didn't have high hopes on the mount and feelings were justified, this issue does need to be addressed by rexing. one of the 3 units I bought got so hot it started melting the plastic on the back of the camera, I work with electronics so I know you sometimes get a bad one, best buy promptly exchanged for another with no hassle. in my opinion camera does what supposed too, if your looking to protect yourself without spending a lot of money this camera will more than suffice. I would go ahead and breakdown and buy the suction cup mount when you buy the camera and bypass the adhesive mount all together

The Rexing V1 is a very good dash camera that has very good recording quality and user friendly features. However, I was all set to give it 5 stars when I looked out the window of my office and saw it dangling from the charging cable as the adhesive mount had failed in the heat.
The camera itself is easy enough to install, is lightweight, and has and available GPS logger that you can purchase. Viewing angle is very wide so you can see a lot of things that happen on the periphery. Night time video is decent quality, i.e. you can see enough detail if you need the video for legal purposes.
Installation was easy, with the adhesive (except that has failed, so I'm looking for an alternative mounting solution), and routing the power cord under the headliner, down the a-pillar, and under the glove box. They thoughtfully included a trim panel tool that makes it easy to do without damaging your car's interior. The power cable also includes a USB pass-through that you can use to power the camera if you want to view videos and possibly use to charge your phone if needed, which seems to work well.
The buttons aren't really that accessible when you're driving, especially if you mount it behind the rear view mirror, but if you're driving, you probably shouldn't distract yourself with the camera controls. It does have a button to take a still photo which is a nice addition.
The camera is mounted to the windshield (which as noted before, has failed), but with this option, the camera is barely noticeable from outside the vehicle. Hopefully I can find an alternative mounting solution that will still be as hidden.
Pros
Wide viewing angle
Clear videos
Decent night time video
Low profile mounting is pretty concealed from outside.
2.4" screen for playback
Cons
Doesn't come with memory card, but that's a fairly inexpensive add on, and it supports up to 128GB cards.
Doesn't have GPS logging if you need that.
Windshield adhesive tape didn't hold up in heat

Very easy installation. Owners manual very easy to follow. The picture and video is great. I can read license plates in front and in the lanes directly to the left and right of me. Going to be a money/insurance saver if someone claims you ran a stop sign or red light. Will work great for protecting yourself against insurance claims. So far it's 5 stars...

In the interest of transparency, I'm writing this review because Rexing offered me a $10 rebate for an honest review. They didn't specify that it had to be a good review, they said honest. So here goes.
I've had this camera maybe a week now, and for the price it takes excellent quality video. I pulled the SD card (sold separately, I'd recommend at least a 64GB if you're serious about it) after my first full day of driving and replayed the videos and the quality was far above what I expected for a $99 camera.
The menus and buttons are fairly self explanatory although the manual does an okay job of explaining the functionality. There could be some improvements on documentation, but ultimately you'll get the hang of it.
The functionality of the camera is fairly simple, it'll take videos of a length selected by the user (3,5,10 mins) and save them to the SD card continuously until it runs out of room, and then start overwriting the older videos. The recording automatically starts when the camera gets 12V supply from the hardwire kit/power point plug, when you start your car. If you click the "OK" button it will lock the current segment from being overwritten and move it to a read only folder, which is handy in the event that you witness an accident/have an accident/etc. It also has a G sensor, which I haven't tested yet (thankfully), that should automatically lock the segment if it detects a G force (an accident).
It comes with a little plastic spudger/crowbar thing for routing the wires around your trim, which worked out really well in my '08 4Runner, and the power cable is sufficiently long for my purposes (and I definitely installed it the long way around).
The negatives so far:
The camera sometimes will show a white screen on startup. It's still recording, but the LCD is just showing a white screen. It seems to only happen when its pretty cold and doesn't affect its ability to record, but it is a little irritating to have to power off/on if you want to see what it's recording.
The adhesive tape style mount that it comes with for mounting on the windshield is heat sensitive and in the Florida environment here, has unstuck a bit and tried to fall off. It will probably eventually fail if you live in Florida/Arizona, anywhere with a lot of sun. There is a suction cup mount available for this (not sure if made by Rexing).
It would be nice if it had a battery that lasted longer than a few minutes, but it's a lower-end camera and the manual states it only has a battery for emergency purposes so it's not like you go into it not knowing.
Overall, for $99 I can't complain, it does what I wanted. It records what's in front of my car in high quality video and stores about 10 hours worth I'd guess with a 64GB card. It doesn't take up much space on the windshield, as I mounted it behind the mirror and dropped the wire down to it from the headliner. A good camera for a beginner, and I would consider Rexing if I decide to move up to a higher quality camera with front/rear, etc.

So far, this Dash cam has performed flawlessly. I check it periodically and all video is nice. While it's not 4K, the video is very usable. Have not tested it at night but when Winter comes, I'll be driving while the sun is down and will post the results here. Very easy to install and very easy to remove (I remove it from the windshield during the day - trying to protect the battery). Got it on sale for $80 and for the money, it's worth it!

I purchased the camera a while ago, but have only started using it recently. The installation and setup were easy and for now I'm using the power socket for power, but plan to hard wire it soon. The video quality is good and the night videos are better than I expected. On well lit streets the night quality is very good. Darker side streets are not as good and it seems much would depend on the quality of your headlights. One thing I found is if you mount it according to the instructions, to the right and behind your review mirror, it is just about impossible to see any of the buttons if you wish to turn the mic on or off, stop/start a recording, etc. I may consider moving it to the other side, but for now it's set the way I wish to use it and will leave it for now.

I bought this unit after a friend reccomended it. I had just bought a new car, and wanted an extra form of safety measure when I would drive. Its compact, easy to mount and concealable. Wiring it in was as simple as plugging the power cord into a cigarette lighter/12 volt sourcw and then running the cord to the unit. It is easily conceable along the inner door rubber seals and A-Pillar.
Quality of the video is fantastic, and even picks up good sound. Its easy to plug into a computer and transfer the files over also.
I like the unit, but I do reccomend the unit with the rear dash cam also. For insurance reasons, having the extra footage is worth the piece of mind and the extra few bucks.

Small screen but great video when viewed on the computer. I have two units and both have the same problem getting the SD card in and out. You must force it deeply in and doesn't seem to have a click. If it isn't forced in the unit cannot see it. To remove it I have to dig it out with a sharp pin. My computer refuses to read the card directly so I have to connect the unit with the provided cable. The very small sticky foam clips for the wire are totally worthless. Won't stick to anything more than a few minutes. If your cigarette lighter socket doesn't turn on and off with the ignition you may wish to buy an optional direct connect cable called "Rexing Hard Wire Kit Mini-USB Port". I like the camera and hope it endures my very hot southern summers.

Eng looking for a dash cam for some time and was going to get the Thinkware but the store was out of stock so I picked this up while on sale for $79. It doesn’t come with a memory card so I had to buy one for this to work, install took about 10 minutes start to finish with hiding the power line in the headliner and this works better than expected. As this was my first dash cam I didn’t want to pay for a more expensive one till I knew I would get the use out of it but this is working great. There is a newer version out which is version 3 that has WIFI and records in 4K so that might be my next upgrade

Good quality images, compact and I find this less abosrrusive than some other models. The me menues are easy to navigate and set. Worth the money.

When it comes to video/picture quality, this camera is great. The only complain I have is the weak mounting adhesive tape that comes with the camera. The adhesive can't stand even the mild spring heat and the camera keeps falling off of the windscreen. I made my purchase in January when it was cold, so this was not an issue. I would recommend you get some strong mounting tape.
